I also was wandering if anyone has info on this. Read in another forum that a BB district manager said that they would have none in store until January. Possibly after 1/8/12.
The plan for my local gamestop was to have 4 extra units on-hand, but I'm not sure if that changed when the date went to 12/23.

Yeah nobody seems to know anything. I didnt preorder because no site hadca clue when itvwould actually ship. I didnt want to preorder and be able to buy it in store while waiting for a preorder
I tried calling all the Best Buy stores in my area, and none of them had any info for me. I called their 800 number and spoke to someone in sales who had no information either. I was planning on getting up early to get one in the morning but I'm not so sure that it's worth it without any solid information.
Ordering anything online this time of the year is nerve wrecking to begin with. But to pre order this time of year is worse. Just got an email this morning that the case i bought for TF-101 was out of stock till JAN. When i ordered it 3 days ago it would be here on Tuesday. Just the kind of luck I'm having with anything associated with the word ASUS!
Typical Android tablet marketing - zero effort. One would think Asus learned a lesson from last time. I guess they are just not shooting to be a big player in the tablet market. What a shame considering that they do know how to make the stuff.

My local BB is taking preorders on it, but they could not give me a definite answer they'll have it on Sunday. Best bet is to call your local B&M stores on Friday/Saturday to see if they've got a shipment
I reserved one at a local Best Buy mobile in the mall of all things on the 25th. Funny thing the receipt says I can pick it up on the 25th but that's a computer error. The sales rep said they will be there this Sunday.
It will be available Sunday.
Local att store opens at 9. I will be there at 830.

I just pre-ordered mine this morning from the store here in Sacramento.
$50 minimum.
Had five or six locked up on his "Online-Order" Shelf.
Scanned one of them for my order.
I'm getting it for the $199 price since I'm OK for an upgrade.
Maybe better if I can provide evidence of a better deal.
I made several calls this morning to the local AT&T stores.
None had any stock, but could order for me.
Parrot was not expecting any until November.
If your in a hurry, then I'd suggest either Best-Buy pre-order or Direct online order.

From what I've heard and talked to people at Best Buy, they won't even be in stores until after the New Year. I pre-ordered because I've been burned in the past thinking that they'd have them in store on release day and so far that has never happened.

theres a best buy thread that says that only the grey ones won't be in until after new year.
the guy i talked to at future shop said he would probably have some in store.
edit: yea best buy wont have **** in store for awhile.

Oh and NO 64GB IN STORES! Last I checked they were only available from a few online retailers, which totally sucks. Oh and waking up early to go pick it up to save shipping costs is a pretty good deal. If you want a 32GB, stores are the way to go.

id like to know this as well, hell if any site did that.. give me a link and ill preorder it right now.
the main advantage to preordering is to ensure you have one at release, going by asus' track record for the OG transformer, not getting one of the initial shipment could mean you're going to have to do a lot of hunting and waiting to get a hold of one.
although, gamestop might be your best bet to picking one up at launch.

i live in canada and i don't have an gamestop anywhere close to me, i do have an EB games tho.
I'm wondering if i ordered one online, could i cancel it if i was able to find one in stores? and what i heard about the last asus, was that they had some in stores they just went out of stock right away, am i right?

Used to be pre-order was the way to go because you were guaranteed one. Now a days It's a diff story! I don't want to face the lines and risk of them not being in the store.

Considering today is Friday, tomorrow is the last day of possible deliveries before Christmas. Even if there were any available online, which there aren't, it is extremely unlikely you would get one delivered by tomorrow even with overnight shipping.There are a few to none available for sale from the stores as everyone is scrambling to fill pre-orders.
In short, you're probably out of luck friend, unless by some miracle you manage to find one from a B&M store without a pre-order (unlikely).

May be worth calling some smaller computer places. Sounds like some people on here have found ones at some smaller stores.
You're not going to find them at any of the major retailers. Both Future Shop and Best Buy have stated that they will fill their pre-orders first before any make it onto the store shelves....and no one seems to have received a pre-order from them yet. The only people seeming to have success are pre-orders from other retailers or stumbling upon them at much smaller retailers. Good luck.....you're going to need it....haha

i called my future shop and some of the people there are also waiting for there very own asus and they said they should be getting some in store before or at the same time the preorders go out.

Just be wary. This store has a shaky reputation, and if it "appears too good to be true"...well, you know. IMO, the "shipment arrives at noon" already sounds like a red flag.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about there's HHGreggs all over Maryland and they are very reputable I can't speak for their online site or anything like that but we actually have several HHGregg stores here. as far as being original transformer I called store already and they verified shipment says TF201

Every negative review I read has something to do with their online sales and deliveries but like I said we have local stores and I am picking it up there it's not being shipped.
I wonder how long best buy would honor a price...probably just your return period? This would really piss me off. I don't give a damn if it's discontinued. I love the tablet and it's look and feel. But, I would hate knowing I spent $100 extra on something that is still within my return period. I mean, they are probably going to get scalpers buying these up and reselling them.
Anyway, chime in when someone actually has one in hand. This will tank original transformer sales as well if true.

Just went to my local bb store this morning in Ithaca NY and they had the 32 gb prime in stock with the keyboard dock. I purchased one and I am loving it!
I've been going to the local BB near me to check the availability of the Prime for about 3 weeks. On Saturday, I visited a BB to purchase a case for my daughter's cell phone. I Checked to see if they had the Prime. This particular store had just received their shipment. They only received 1 tablet. I immediately purchased it. Very happy so far.

Good to know i wonder if the one here in Binghamton NY has one...if not I'm driving up to Ithaca to get the dock lol. I know my store has one on display now.

I added one to my cart on their website and selected ship to store. I put in my zip code and it showed that a few of the stores had them in stock, but most were a sip to store option 3-5 days. So maybe if you tried that to see if any store near you has them in stock. If it claims it on the website, call the store and ensure that they do before going so you won't get your hopes up.

I tried the vestal store on Saturday and they didnt have any, but will do ship to store and have it in a couple of days.
I just got mine at BB. Walked in to kill time and decided to ask because I saw the shelf tag. They just got 2 in their shipment and myself and another guy both asked about it at the same time lol.

So I called the BB in our area which shows the Prime in stock. The lady I talked to said they didn't have any, so I told her I saw online they had it. She finally admitted that they have it but are not allowed to sell it until Sunday the 29th because she says the Prime will be on their Sunday ad.
What if I just went there do you think they would sell it to me ?
I would go in and play dumb. Tell them that it shows it in stock in the store so you came in to buy it. It's easy for them to deny you on the phone, but in the store it's harder. If they try and deny you the buy, ask to speak to a manager. Also see if you can buy online and pick up in store. They would have to sell it to you that way as well.

Oh, and the lady also said if I ordered and did store pickup then the order would be cancelled because they are not allowed to sell it yet. Not sure how they can do that ... some guys in this thread have already purchased theirs in store just this week ...
I would ask to speak with the store manager at that point. It's a binding contract once you buy. If they cancelled it on me after I bought it online and drove to pick it up, I would want some kind of retribution, kinda like a restocking fee if I bought it and returned it because I no longer needed it.

That is very strange. I did a search of the Best Buys in NYC and noticed that a few of them showed them in stock online. I spoke to the rep at the Chelsea store and they had just received a few of them in stock today and she put one on hold for me to pick up tonight.
Been checking BB online now since late late December. No BB store within 100 miles has had any. Just so happen to check the independent BB Mobility stores and they had one! After a 2 hour round trip, I finally have a Prime! Very nice so far. Very hesitant on the ICS update tho, looks like it can bring more heartache than joy.....
Ok, so this morning i found out one of the BB's near me had some in stock and the others are ship to store, so i bought one for store pick up. When i got there the guy told me that this morning they were informed that they are not allowed to sell it yet but since i was able to do so online they sold it to me anyway
I checked again BB's website just now and the ASUS prime now shows unavailable for all stores and the ship to store option gone ...

That sounds fishy....I can't imagine they would not sell it to you if you were there in person. Especially if you talked to a manager and made a big deal about it
