GTA 3 working? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone got it to work?
Works fine on my Desire S (1Ghz) so I thought it would work fine on my brothers Archos 70 tab, but it doesn't
It loads, then crashes..
Maybe its because of the lack of RAM?
I saw on my Desire S it uses 131mb RAM, could that be the case why it wont work on Archos? lack of RAM?
Anyone got it working ?

Sent from my HTC Desire S

I got it working for my Droid x2 and Motorola XOOM

How's playback on the Droid?
I noticed it is a bit laggy on my Desire S..

works on galaxy s2 just fine

For me it is working under UrukDroid 1.6. But very, very laggy and so unplayable.

It works with chainfire 3d but still with lag, deleting the audio folder in SD files makes the game run faster and playable.

Not for me, Uruk 1.6 here and it bombs after the intro

I got it working smooth on my Archos 101IT with UrukDroid 1.6. Try these instructions:
Installation
- CPUGoverner activated and set to performance (= Clocked at 1Ghz)
- Install AndroidAssistant
- Install Advanced Task Killer
- Buy GTA from Amazon Store or Android Market. Just make sure you got version 1.3.
- Install it.
- Place AndroidAssistant 1x1 widget on homescreen and a shortcut to "Advanced Task Killer - Kill all tasks" next to it (names of widgets and shortcuts can be different, I don't have my Archos with me right now)
- Press the AndroidAssistant Fast Boost-icon.
- Press the Advanced Task Killer-icon.
- Then go to the standard Froyo task killer and kill all tasks.
- This will free up a lot of memory, which you really need with this game. I got 130mb free. If you can't get above 90mb free, try some other task killers or reinstall UrukDroid.
- Make sure WiFi is activated.
- Open GTA3.
- It will ask to download game data. Allow it. This will take about 10 minutes, depending on your internet connection.
- When downloaded, press Exit.
- Go to mnt/storage/Android/data/com.rockstar.gtager/files/GTA3/ and delete audio-folder.
- Delete the folder movies and replace it by the folder you can download here in a zip-archive.
- Press the AndroidAssistant Fast Boost-icon.
- Press the Advanced Task Killer-icon.
- Then go to the standard Froyo task killer and kill all tasks again.
- Start GTA and wait till the start-screen appears.
- Go to "Einstellungen" (Settings) and to "Sprache" (Language). Select English.
- Then, set these other settings:
Controls:
Everything off
Audio:
Vibration Feedback off
[Optional] Music and SFX Volume on 0%
Display:
Brightness: 50%
Draw Distance: 0% - 25%
Screen Resolution: 0% - 15%
Visual Effects on low
Dynamic Shadows off
Subtitles as you wish
Frame Limiter off
- Exit the game
Play the game (always do these steps to play the game)
- Do not use Chainfire3D, it doesn't help.
- Press the AndroidAssistant Fast Boost-icon.
- Press the Advanced Task Killer-icon.
- Then go to the standard Froyo task killer and kill all tasks.
- Start GTA
- Play and have fun!
Please let me know if it works for you. It does work for me!
TIP: Try not to hit the lamp poles cause it crashes your car and lags the game...

I don't know if piracy is allowed on this forum but I am not encouraging it. The use of this apk is up to you.
Installation
- for a version without those buttons, with fullscreen. Version with buttons force closes when you use back or menu-buttons. That's why some people might like the fullscreen-version
- Do not use Chainfire3D, it doesn't help.

I'm sorry, okay? As I wrote before, I'm against piracy, I just wanted people to have a working version on their device. I removed the links.

Task manager

Hey do you guys believe in task managers that auto-kill apps?
Or when you flash a new rom a TM isn't needed?
Bionix V
Androdena theme
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I use a healthy combination of:
-Auto Memory Optimizer (root required): kills foreground/background/hidden proccesses, by priority, if your RAM drops below a designated point.
-Autostarts (root required): Prevents designated apps from EVER opening in specific situations. For example: If you have an app that automatically starts when the phone boots, but you dont want it to. You can still open it manually.
-Conventional task killer (non-root, there are SO many out there, you have to choose): I just use this to kill apps when im done using them. A lot of apps dont fully shut down when you exit/backout of them.
the first two (automem, autostarts) are great because they are "set and forget". set your optimal settings for each, and they will just always do there thing in the background.

[Port] Mupen64Plus Armv6 [N64 Emulator] UPDATE 15.9.2011

Mupen64Plus ARMV6
I Didnt Make That Projekt All Credits Goes to Paul From Ngemu Forumz This is a Pre Alpha
Tutorial if u want to change games go to app- folder then into the mupen folder than into roms , then delete mario.n64 but every rom that u got u need to rename it to mario.n64 or it wont work.
This Thread gonna be Updated By Me , if u want to do some changes here are the source codes and the test apk
UPDATE 15.09.2011
Now Added Virtual Gamepad to the screen by paulscode
paulscode said:
I decided to post an official build with the virtual gamepad, so folks can start testing it. I probably won't have time to make any updates or bug-fixes until I get back home (there are a couple known issues, see below)
Test APK (source code)
Test APK 2 (sort-order bug)
IMPORTANT: You will need to update the app data, because several changes were made, mainly to the button masks. If you do not update the app data, you will get weird behavior of random alternate buttons pressing when you are trying to press other buttons! In case anyone isn't familiar with how to do this, the easiest way to update the app data is to delete the folder app-data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus from your SDCard, The emulator's DataDownloader module will then automatically download the new data for you when you start the app.
Known Problems:
The first thing you will notice is that the hat image doesn't move. I purposely disabled this, because the call to "invalidate()", which tells the surface to redraw, was ridiculously slow and having a major hit on performance. I'll need to rethink how to redraw without requiring so much CPU power (possibly some kind of timed "redraw granularity" rather than redrawing on every touch event that involved the analog stick).
The second thing you will notice is that it is really easy to "drop" the analog stick if you slide your finger too far (while running forward, etc). I'll need to implement some type of "stick capture" logic.

Previous versions had
- Auto-update app;
- Update over Wi-Fi only;
- Auto-add shortcut;
but thanks for the apk
thanks for the apk
the market is much faster than the "old" new markets (3.x and up) because it loads the icons even before you change the category =)
and it does not, i repeat, does NOT lag.
Hey rkkoby thanks mate this market is smoother than the previous one but still has a little issue with lag. Thanks again

Apps Closing By itself....

i know closing bg apps is for saving battery but its too strict it dosent let a game like asphalt 7 download in the background and let me browse or even chat on whatsapp without it getting close then i have to restart the download (really annoying) it only takes a mere ~20 mb
is there anyway to make this thing go away?

Nice work, good video:good: This is a lot of fun to try on the HP TouchPad. You should post this info and video into my update thread so more people will hear about it.
Buff,
What are all the specific settings you use within xhalo?
I am using the default launcher/icons with Jc's CM11 and not quite getting the same experience of two apps side by side. Tried adjusting window size percentages but its likely just a learning curve.

Sorry I didn't make it clear in the OP.
MAIN SETTINGS
Pop-up window: I chose alpha 100%, dim 0%, and gravity "Center".
Pop-up size: I chose portrait width 100%, portrait height 50%, landscape width 50%, landscape height 100%.
Pop-up behaviour: I chose Disable Auto Close, Show App in Recents, Force New Windows in Halo, all else disabled. In whitelist/blacklist options I chose "Always open apps in halo except blacklisted apps". (The blacklist contains apps that don't work well that I hand picked).
System ui-mods: I chose quick settings in halo, and long press recent apps item option.
Statusbar taskbar: I have it enabled, with running apps.
MOVEABLE & RESIZEABLE
Setting is ON.
Titlebar disabled.
Moving settings: retain window, constant window, allow actionbar all ON.
Resizuing disabled.
Triangle enabled, resizing off, dragging off, single press minimize, long press close.
Quadrant enabled, resizing off, dragging on, single press maximize, long press close.
Border: 1px.
Other: everything disabled.
I hope I was clear enough. Any questions, feel free to ask in this thread.
Many thanks - just stumbled across this! Who would have believed that our Touchpads, once destined for the dump have such life in them still!
Nice vid and info! It's JC Sullins though, not J Scullins.
Finally installed Xposed on Touchpad and will try this new module soon
Thanks!!
Bump
