have done a bit of googling to no avail re this issue ~
anyone here in the community an ADW Launcher user? If so, what am i missing in terms of switching to the hidden Dock bar? checked settings out, swiped over the Dockbar in every whichaway, cleared data / reviewed logcats, all several times etc (as one should do before starting a thread here lol). Developer's email is non-functional lol. I must be missing something. Anyone else having similar results
Thanks for your time

Whats wrong with your posts? There is text (on top of) overwriting text, hard to read
The hidden dock bar was removed from adw ex (and I would guess regular adw as well) in the last update. I wish the dev would bring it back, but according to him the vast majority of users prefer the single dock bar setup he has gone to...

I really could not stand the hidden dock bar... I kept bringing it up on accident. I believe there was an option in the last version that had it though that allowed for it to be disabled? I see no reason why it should not be included, but I would prefer it be disabled by default.

I can definitely respect your opinion sir!!!! I wish he would make the same provisions as i have been a long time ADW user, and big fan, and i sure miss using it. i personally loved the hidden dockbar, and i would not mind one bit enabling it in the settings, but for Christ's sakes if it ain't broke brother don't fix the s$#t.
Is this the option you're referring to?

So the dock was hidden and you had to use a gesture to make it appear or it was hidden as in disabled?
Hidden as it is here ...
No sir, if you read the OP well you'll see what i am missing is the ability to chose from the "Main" Dock & the hidden dock. And the ability to transition from one to the other. Not to make the dock dissappear altogether.
Sorry.
Haven't used ADW enough to know that was a feature.
No worries mate

Amplified, I have a semi-workaround at the moment. I am using circle launcher as a hidden dock for the apps I used to put in ADW hidden dock. I keep a pretty clean home screen, so I set it up dead center of the screen, and set a custom transparent icon for the launcher. Closed, there is nothing visible, but one tap to open and I have about 14 apps right there. You might be able to do similar with wave launcher as well, but I haven't messed with that in quite a while...

Thanks brother. Very kind of you to offer a suggestion of that sort.
Cheers!
I miss the hidden dock too...
I'm a new user of EX, since the 10c discount.
But because of that kind of things, I still don't have set any of the as "default" when I hit the home button...
and worst.. most of the time I'm using ADW, not Ex.. thinking "come on jump to EX"... and when I try.. it's to discover there is no hidden dock anymore...
Yes, I know, nobody cares...
I second using Circle Launcher or Wave as an alternative. I saw this hidden dock feature in the video and thought it might replace wave launcher for me, and then was going crazy thinking I was missing something in settings. Too bad he didn't leave it as an option and just include a disable possibility.
Anyway, I have used circle launcher on my main homescreen much in the same way as described by the other member. But I also use Wave launcher and what's great about it is that it is accessible from any screen even when you have another app open. (If you use WidgetLocker as your lockscreen, then it's even accessible on that.) And it's entirely invisible and unlike Circle launcher no one could even accidentally discover it if they didn't know the gesture you set up for it.
Anyway, maybe the hidden bar will show back up as something you can enable or disable.
I love Wave Launcher in conjunction with Launcher Pro. I absolutely love being able to scroll through three sets of five icon docks at the bottom of any one of my home screens. I guess this is why we all love Android, there's pretty much something for everyone as far as customizations go.

I have successfully enabled the navbar at the bottom of the screen. I have also worked to remap the buttons that are contained in the navbar.
That is the most apparent mod, although i have gone through and enabled (and disabled) some things to make the phone work as i would like it to.
List of what is included:
-Nav Bar
*remapped to have Power - Back - Home - Recent - Menu
-shrunk navbar to save space
-enabled 360 degree rotation in apps (and launcher - must enable it in your launcher)
-enabled rotation on the LockScreen (might take it out, its kinda glitchy)
-included the CM9 Trebuchet Launcher - ICS stock launcher with added functionality
-menu key bypasses slider unlock (will not by pass secure locks)

Issues:
The main issue i have noticed is that the background of the bar will sometimes be covered by other images that are rendered by the phone. that is not noticeable in most cases except the fact that the background does not seem to refresh, therefore the images stay down there and cause the bar to render incorrectly, the buttons will still work.
In most cases the way i fix it when this happens is to go back to the home screen and open the app drawer (only in stock ICS and trebuchet launcher) this will clear the images out.
if that does not work, i also can open an app and turn the phone sideways, rotates the screen, then press the home button again and the bar should be fixed.
This main issue i believe is related to the other rendering glitches we see (blurry status bar text, blue flashes) and will most likely be fixed when those issues are fixed.
Planned Updates:
-1% battery increments
-clock in middle of status bar
-theme navbar icons
*Also will be porting to other ICS ROMs
Changelog:

-added support to Ineffabilis (slightly different features)

It kinda does, but the stock launchers are pretty spread out so you don't notice it much. i have search, back, home, menu and lock screen in it now. but i can put just about any function in the phone into it i'm pretty sure, i have to play with that a lil more tonight.
but you are right, i'm sure that's why no one has done it yet, its not a hard mod lol

That would be pretty sweet, i can try to find the continuum source and see if i can figure out how it works.
also there is a launcher in the droidx forums that shrinks the dock to keep it right up close to the nav buttons, i'm going to see if that will install on the rezound ok and if not, i'll try to figure out how he did it and add it in
That will save space some

This is an old version of the launcher and it works fine. Some of the customization doesn't. But the launcher itself works very well. And you get a couple customization like rotation and taking the search thing off.

I love this mod. Turning off the softkey lights would be great, but I also have another idea for a mod:
A mod that turns the softkey search button into a recent apps button.
I know that holding the home button takes you to the recent apps, but it's annoying how long it takes. I personally don't use the search button ever, and would not miss it at all. And maybe for those who do use the search button: make the search button recent apps, but long press it for search.

So I am new to the Android Tablet world, but I love a clean organized looking device. HUBS seems to be a very popular route to go, and the look/customizability is awesome.
I was hoping someone that makes apps could develop this widget to make it easier to setup and restore after flashing new ROMs

If anyone has set this type of layout up, they know how tedious it is. Then if you want to flash a new ROM you get to basically start all over. On top of that many times the overlapped widgets don't play nice and you have to fix it everytime you switch from landscape to portrait and back...
I don't know how difficult an app like this would be, and if I had any clue on how to make it I would. But I figured I would put it out there and see if I can drum up some interest for it. I would pay for it obviously...
ADW ex+ Simple Text + Minimalistic Text
I agree it is absurdly tedious and it would be great to have an app that made it easier, but for now there is a decent solution for your "new ROM" scenario. Just back up your apps and their data with titanium backup and backup your adw settings/configuration. After you install your new ROM restore apps w/ data and then restore adw settings/config. That usually works for me however sometimes the widgets get screwed up but depending on how you set your desktop its not horrible to fix it. For me I would have to add back 2 widgets per screen.
But back to point, yes I completely agree with everything you said and really hope it's possible to make an app or something to make it easier. One possible step would be a simple widget that creates the "shadow" effect that is usually done with minimalistic. I hate going in and messing with all the settings every time I just want to make simple shadow. If you could just pick 1 widget and maybe have 1 setting that will stick until you change it again(like the color and opacity) then you could just resize it to what you want and you'd be good to go.

I am not big on TiBu...Many times issues are replicated between ROMs because of TiBu.
Also the other MAJOR issue I have with the "Simple Text - Minimalistic Text - ADWex" setup is this:
If you look at my screenshot, I have a transparent/black background behind my Simple Text. Whenever I go to landscape and back to portrait, the background moves in front of my icons. I have to remove the background and re-add it so it will be behind the icons again...

It's already very simple. In adw you can make backups of the adw settings and current layout.
So I kinda answered my own request and made a "shadow" widget. Its really simple to use, just put it on home screen and resize. Its my first time making anything for android so its pretty simple. In the future I hope to make it more customisable. Check it out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526189

Who is using both SimpleText and Minimalistic Text? Isn't that redundant? Secondly, if you're creating a secondary "shadow" widget, then wouldn't you run into problems when that is displayed on top of whatever icons you're using, instead of behind it?

I actually have that issue where my minimalist text background goes in front of my simple text icons after the screen rotates...
Hence why I want an app to make it all one widget.

And you're using SimpleText to make those text icon widgets because the layout you like for the text is not possible when using MinimalisticText, yes?

Hello guys! It's me again doing some crazy stuff for a "dead" device
I managed to get an almost fully functional UltraSmoothRosie. That's right. There's only one single bug.
So:
BUGS
Pinch to zoom out force closes the launcher, use home button instead
Top bar icons are stretched and "All Apps", "Personalize" and "Add" ICONS are not visible (the buttons work)
The edit menu (when you longpress an icon or widget) is stretched in landscape mode (use portrait for removing/editing)
Previews when moving items are often wrongly placed, but the actual moving process works just fine
Wallpaper is aligned incorrectly
Homescreen indicator (the white bar that moves when you scroll) is not visible
Leap view (previews of the five homescreens) is all messed up
Previews of the homescreen in the Personalize Menu have icons and widgets aligned incorrectly
Give it a spin, and tell me if you can find any quirk/detail/bug. And if you download it and actually use/like it, click the thanks button

Just flash it in CWM, no wipes required.
Another minor mod, that I made playing around with the M10Tools is a modification to the HTC Lockscreen to remove the bottom bar and the circles around the icons to accomplish a cleaner (Sense 4 like) look.

So, yesterday I looked into the UltraSmooth Rosie mod for many HTC handsets, and I noticed the Jetstream has one, so I decided to try it out on my Flyer (a long shot, I know). It worked, but the top navbar had sizing issues, which made it impossible to access "All Apps", "Personalize" and "Add" menus. Plus, when trying to delete an object from the screen, I noticed the "Remove" icon was offscreen too, so I could not remove stuff. A blazing fast, lagfree, and pretty useless launcher.
So i took M10 tools and started resizing what I thought was what I needed to, and the outcome was almost perfect. I still can't work out the png's sizing (they are exactly in the same place, but the actual FUNCTIONAL icons are moved where you can reach them, so the launcher is pretty much 100% functional. And believe me: it's damn smooth.

Any progress on those last few bugs?

I have been very busy lately but I managed to understand the logic behind HTC's Rosie layout. I fixed the positioning for all items for portrait, and landscape should be an easy process. The problem is I don't know how to fix the pinch to zoom out or the previews. But I can live with that. Maybe tomorrow I find some time to fix landscape and upload version 0.9. Cheers
All (except for ***** to zoom) fixed!
OP updated with version 1.0. All bugs but pinch to zoom fixed.
I installed the mod today and i Like it. Please fix the Last Bug and i will love it
I am going to be honest with you: I have absolutely no clue on how to do it. I think the way to fix it is SMALI editing, and that is a field I have no knowledge of. It would be pretty cool if we could get a real dev to take a look at it.
Did you try asking @hamdir? He should know a thing or two about that and maybe he can explain.
Tried installing it again on my Flyer and after boot I get continuous force close. Any suggestions on why?

Which ROM are you running? Did you try wiping and reflashing?
I was running a the stock rooted ROM. I tried with another ROM and it works again.
What I don't like is the animation in the app drawer when scrolling through app pages. It's a bit jerky.
It always was, as far as I reckon. HTC really did a crappy job at programming HC Rosie. It has so many flaws
The stock one has less that this one.

I'm new to RR, and as such I have a few questions that I can't seem to find answers for anywhere else. And since I can't post in the dev forums, I'll try my luck here.
1. How do I delete additional homescreens, and stay with just one?
2. .. and how do I do the same for my lockscreen? (multiple lock/home screens and camera access before entering pin is not wanted, plus it messes with my wallpapers ).
3. I can't seem to add more than 16 apps to a folder on my homescreen. Is this a limit that is adjustable?
Thanks in advance.

Naturally.
1. What launcher are you using? If you're using the Touchwiz launcher you can just press left button, which brings up a menu where you can edit the homescreen.

TW launcher?..
I can only chose between "launcher" (assuming Apex. Might be wrong though) and Nova Launcher. I'm using the first, and do not have that option.
When pressing the menu button, I can only select Wallpaper, Manage apps, and System settings.
And I've been all the way through settings, security, device settings, resurrection tools, etc. to find a way to decrease the amount of screens, but without any luck.

Doh! Forgot the rom, you don't have a TW rom. :silly:
I recommend using Nova Launcher. Press the same button as shown in the picture, then go to Nova Settings > Desktop > Home Screens. There you can add or delete homescreens.
And for the lockscreen. Rom Control > Lockscreen? Under Pie Control.

Okay. It seems that Nova solved my problems with maximum number of apps in a folder, and using a single homescreen.
Now I would like to have single lockscreen as well. Right now I have 3 lockscreens - the right one of them being camera controls, and I would like to just have a single screen, where the only option is to enter the security pin code. No app launching without entering the pin.
I'll see if I can add a screenshot.
I'ts hard to screenshot, but as you might see from the two attachments, there's the option of scrolling right (and left) from the lockscreen, into two separate screens - the rightmost being the camera controls (slightly visible in one of the screenshots).
I'd just like to remove the extra screens, remove the camera access, in fact - remove everything besides one single screen where all you can do is enter the security pin.
Does that make sense?
Try this.
In the lockscreen, drag your finger down from the default clock. You'd enter the Android 4.2.1 lockscreen widgets full-screen view;
Press and hold the individual screen, and drag it up to 'X Remove';
It's a quote from KeithOYS in the original thread.

Only problem is... it doesn't work.
When I'm long-pressing the individual lockscreen, I can only add widgets, not delete anything.
EDIT: Correction. I can delete the center screen, thereby having only two screens left. But I can't seem to get rid of the right screen (fullscreen camera widget/app).
What am I doing wrong?
Hi mates!
Is this topic still alive ? I've got a question too. Maybe 2 or 4, in fact))
1) Cannot enable transparent notification bar... Why ?
2) How to center the clock on the lock screen ?
3) How to force the list of settings to fill the whole screen width ?
4) Cannot add the sound profiles to the notification drawer

Well, my V30 arrived today and I really like this phone. I'm not new to LG phones and have dealt with this before but I can't install the app drawer icon on the home page without messing up my new setup and losing a lot of apps and pages. Is there a workaround for this that any of you know about? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Install Nova launcher, make app drawer, "import" the other launcher settings. LG in this case.
(Next time don't set up all your other shortcuts and stuff until you get your app drawer...
But Nova launcher can import your current configuration and still have an app drawer.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Lesson learned I guess. I have never used a launcher before but I have only heard good things about the Nova launcher. I guess I will give it a try. I wonder why LG set the app drawer icon/function up like that in the first place?

LG gives choice of "Home" or "Home + App Drawer". But Home is the default. You have to choose the other when setting up...
Apple doesn't give iPhone users an app drawer because they're too probably stupid to find it? Google keeps trying to make Android be like iPhone (clock on the left where notifications go, removing headphone jack, etc) and it seems to have carried over to LG.
Well, since my last post, I installed Nova Launcher Prime and I basically had to start over anyway but it was a breeze having the app drawer right there. I am now exploring all of the settings within the launcher and having a ball doing so. Thanks for the suggestion. :good::good:

Use the cube rotation -- it's cool. Use the reverse parallax on wallpaper.

The cube rotation is cool. Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure about what the wallpaper thing does though. I set it on reverse but I did not see any change. I am using a LG theme called "Lightwave" and it has a live wallpaper that looks like an aurora. I like it. I found a lot of stuff on Nova launcher on YouTube. It's going to be a blast exploring it.
Also on Nova, you can save/backup your homescreen settings, so if something goes wrong you can simply reload it...

Yeah, the reverse parallax wallpaper effect doesn't work on live wallpapers. I see on new Nova they dropped the "parallax" name and only call it "reverse".
Basically causes the wallpaper in the background to move in the opposite direction of your desktop rotation, so the movement effect is magnified.
______
One other tip. Down in Advanced on Home Screen, I have my layouts locked. If I want to change something (add an icon, move an icon, edit a folder name), I can long press on empty space on any of the desktop screens and it will temporarily unlock to allow me to make changes. Otherwise you will accidentally move icons, widgets. I do this for my wife, sister, mother, friends also. Saves a lot of tech support phone calls! After you make the changes, within 30 seconds the layout will re-lock.
Also, you can export your Nova configuration to save elsewhere for safekeeping. Send to Gmail, upload to Google Drive, other destinations. If you wipe your phone, you can then download it and "import". Even helps if you change devices, to move your layout to different phone.
______
Another tip: I make my app drawer have a black background, so there's obvious difference between my desktop and app drawer.
_________
OK, bonus tip. Custom Icon packs. If you've not messed with that yet you are in for real treat. You download, install, and then in Nova Launcher "Look & Feel" Settings section, you apply via dropdown menu in Icon style. (For my own personal reasons, I do NOT have the "Normalize Icon Size" box checked.)
GOOGLE PLAY ICON PACKS
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=icon pack&c=apps&hl=en_US
These are custom icon packs. Some are free with no ads, some cost money, some are free but with ads (which may not appear if you have an ad blocker?). Besides wallpaper, you can totally change the look of your phone with custom icon pack.
I found this one when I had a previous device and keep using it. Has over 3,700 icons:
MyUI 5 - Icon Pack

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
But you can also find many esoteric and radical looking packs to be totally different. Like this one:
LineX Icon Pack

Not my taste, but others may love it!
But tons in between the two extremes to experiment with!

@ChazzMatt, Thanks for all of this information and the icon pack information. The LineX icons are cool. I have seen some of these on YT and I am interested. On the reverse feature, OK, I now know what you were referring to. I will be using that some too I am sure.
One thing I have noticed and you might know a fix for. My phone has lost the "Knock On and Off" function even though I have it turned on. Any ideas on that? Thanks again for your help with Nova.

Thanks for the tip but that setting as far as using the double knock, only lets me shut down the screen and then I can't use a double knock to turn the screen back on. I can't even use the fingerprint option as well. Nova needs a fix for that.
when using nova to turn off screen double tap works, but you cant doubel tap from anywhere on the screen.
Double Tap on the time (upper right ccorner of you screen) and the screen will turn off. Thats the best and only way to double tap screen off using Nova
oops your question was screen on wih double tap, i have nova and have double tap screen on in setting of the phone (not nova) and the double tap work to turn on screen from anywhere on the off screen, then i use fouble tap on the time to turn screen off.
check you device setting make sure double tap is on.
@jaygo444, Thanks for the information and yes, I do have the double tap feature turned on in the phone settings. I kind of miss having the tap on feature though.
OK, I have a question about icon packs. If I install one and decide to use it with Nova launcher, will it affect my screen icon setup or will it just replace the icons I already have and leave my layout as it is?

It will leave the layout but just convert the icons to the new look.
If the icon pack itself asks to make changes, say no. You're only applying the icon look through Nova Settings.

I've used Nova launcher for years. However I'm liking the LG launcher right now. You have a few options for home screen.
No need for the app drawer icon since you can slide up from the bottom to get into the app drawer.
The other option which is nice is the IOS way to do it. Flipping through screens to get the app you like.
Also I bought zone launcher so that way I can select a few apps I use at time to time without going into the app drawer. The free version is enough but I like to support the devs.
