I will be continually adding to them and Porting them to ROMs as they come and i Get time time port.
BUILT for DESENSED-ISH ICS 3.5 - 3.8
Haven't tested with 4.0 but you may lose some of Tachi's features/fixes.
First Off, Thanks to:
scrosler and Tachi = ROM
gogodu5sU = Nexus mods (used as reference)
fernando sor = Guide to Decompile framework-res and systemui
Dr. Carpenter = MODed Trebuchet launcher, and references
I have successfully enabled the navbar at the bottom of the screen. I have also worked to remap the buttons that are contained in the navbar.
That is the most apparent mod, although i have gone through and enabled (and disabled) some things to make the phone work as i would like it to.
List of what is included:
-Nav Bar
*remapped to have Power - Back - Home - Recent - Menu
-shrunk navbar to save space
-enabled 360 degree rotation in apps (and launcher - must enable it in your launcher)
-enabled rotation on the LockScreen (might take it out, its kinda glitchy)
-included the CM9 Trebuchet Launcher - ICS stock launcher with added functionality
-menu key bypasses slider unlock (will not by pass secure locks)

Kanged Senseless
Issues:
The main issue i have noticed is that the background of the bar will sometimes be covered by other images that are rendered by the phone. that is not noticeable in most cases except the fact that the background does not seem to refresh, therefore the images stay down there and cause the bar to render incorrectly, the buttons will still work.
In most cases the way i fix it when this happens is to go back to the home screen and open the app drawer (only in stock ICS and trebuchet launcher) this will clear the images out.
if that does not work, i also can open an app and turn the phone sideways, rotates the screen, then press the home button again and the bar should be fixed.
This main issue i believe is related to the other rendering glitches we see (blurry status bar text, blue flashes) and will most likely be fixed when those issues are fixed.
Planned Updates:
-1% battery increments
-clock in middle of status bar
-theme navbar icons
*Also will be porting to other ICS ROMs
Changelog:
2-12-2012
-added support to Ineffabilis (slightly different features)
1/27/2012
-Initial release

It kinda does, but the stock launchers are pretty spread out so you don't notice it much. i have search, back, home, menu and lock screen in it now. but i can put just about any function in the phone into it i'm pretty sure, i have to play with that a lil more tonight.
but you are right, i'm sure that's why no one has done it yet, its not a hard mod lol
I wonder if there is a way to code a news ticker in there or something? Like the Samsung continuum

That would be pretty sweet, i can try to find the continuum source and see if i can figure out how it works.
also there is a launcher in the droidx forums that shrinks the dock to keep it right up close to the nav buttons, i'm going to see if that will install on the rezound ok and if not, i'll try to figure out how he did it and add it in
That will save space some
found here:

the continum has a whole separate screen. But it would be cool if we could partition it to do that.

This is an old version of the launcher and it works fine. Some of the customization doesn't. But the launcher itself works very well. And you get a couple customization like rotation and taking the search thing off.

I love this mod. Turning off the softkey lights would be great, but I also have another idea for a mod:
A mod that turns the softkey search button into a recent apps button.
I know that holding the home button takes you to the recent apps, but it's annoying how long it takes. I personally don't use the search button ever, and would not miss it at all. And maybe for those who do use the search button: make the search button recent apps, but long press it for search.

Sadly i do not own this device anymore so will not be able to continue on this project. You all have been amazing for support and everything so thankyou to you all
Hi all.
I was fiddling about with this device the other day thinking, how am i gonna get rid of those annoying soft buttons that take up
screen space, so i experimented, and this is so far the best i have come up with.
**Also, please remember that I am not responsible if anything goes wrong, I am just sharing how I done it, do this at your own risk**
OK, here goes:
You will need to have Uruk Droid Installed 1.0 on your device, not only because it is rooted, but because of the useful
'UrukConfig' which we will need. link to Uruk Droid: Click Here
OK, first you will need Button Savior installed, this is because if you are in a game or a full screen app, you will have no convenient
way of getting out of it.
So go to the market and get it, install it and set it up. when you have set this up, you should have a tiny little button on the right
hand side. When you click this button, you will have a set of soft buttons to replace the archos's horrible ones.
Now that is done, go into your app drawer and open UrukConfig and accept superuser permission.
Once you are in the UrukConfig app, go to Options tab, click on Hide Soft Buttons, when this is done, it will ask you to reboot,
go for it.
Once back into Android you will notice in the notification bar that you will have Home and Search on the left and Back and Menu on
the right. Only thing is, the notification bar is twice the size...no problem...read on.
How to modify the notification bar to stay the correct size of 160 density -Thanks to sibere
First you will want to download the modified framework-res.apk by clicking here, this will let you have the default density of
160 while leaving the notification bar the correct size. After this is downloaded, go to THIS link and follow the instructions of the first post on how to install it.
Now you have successfully removed the Archos's soft buttons and got you full screen back
I also recommend using a different launcher from standard one, I highly recommend you use LauncherPro as this seems to cope with the changes very well.
Just make sure in the launcher, increase the amount of rows and columns on home screen and app drawer to make up for the density change.
The density change is an advantage anyway, give you more screen space for widgets and stuff, and i like it
FIX missbehaving Button Savior: Thanks to marcusmarcus
If you get a problem with Button Savior not working properly, follow the fix in this link: Click Here and it should work fine after this.
there are a couple of little problems i will try to find out how to fix:
-why the icons in the notification bar are tiny?,
-Why cant i use a screen density of standard 160 without the huge notification bar?, -FIX FOUND
-want to find out how to set the screen density permanently on the Archos 70. Normally this is done in /system/build.prop but with
this device it does not seem the case. -FIX FOUND
-Button Savior Back and Menu button dont work most of the time, finding a fix -FIX FOUND
If anyone can help with the above problems, please let me know, thanks
Anyone needs help with this, just ask
THANKS:
Thanks to marcusmarcus for discovering a fix for Button Savior
Thanks to sibere for linking me to notification bar fix

hmmm, now you say that, I seem to get the same problem.
I will see if I can find a way to fix that or find alternative soft buttons.
For now if your in full screen app, you can hold the power button to bring up a menu, then click 'Buttons mode', this will bring up some buttons on the right hand side that you can use.

Or don't use Button Savior at all, and just long-press the power button (for 2 seconds) when you need the menu. When it pops up, press "Buttons Mode" and then do what you need to do. When you're done, and you have your menu back on top, just "X" the "Buttons Mode" menu out, and you'll be back to normal.
No reason to install more software than needed. Buttons Mode is built-in.

This is true but it is just more to do. Button savior is handy because it is ready to use and quick. Its convenient.
I like Button Savior, but changing the LCD Density is a no-go for me. I can't read a damn thing with it set to 129. I'm getting old, and it makes all the text too small for my eyes. There is an XML in the framework-res.apk that controls notification bar size, I'll try to find it so we can keep the correct density. FYI, the bar gets big like that because the code is left over from Gen7's. They had the buttons in the bar straight from archos, and that's how big the bar was supposed to be.
IIRC, if I can find that xml, we should be able to shrink the bar while keeping 160 density, and therefore keeping everything else nice and readable.

I think the best would be if we create something like the option in the "3 seconds power press"-menu on Archos Gen7 (A5IT) that was/is able to blend out the notification bar

I mean the menu with:
Power Off
Button Mode
Silent Mode
Airplaine Mode
On the Gen7, Archos added a option called "Hide Notification Bar"
Then you have option to play Games in real full screen And when you want to stop the game or go to the homescreen you need to select the "Show Notification Bar" again
If you want to do this you have to look at the kernel sources from archos but this option was added in a specific firmware update - i forgot
if you really want to do this, you should joyn us at Urukdroid Developement Thread
I think the other guys want this option in UD too

To get a small bar with the standard 160 density, just look at this topic

This is a mod created for MIUI and I just modified it for the fascinate. When flashed over the rom, an app is installed that lets you change a number of status bar options that include...clock placement, hide clock, hide am/pm, clock color, hide carrier text, have your own words instead of carrier text, carrier text color, have a carrier emblem, change battery bar color, swap carrier text to right, and swap icons to left, hide alarm icon, option to lock homescreen wallpaper, option to autoclose folders or not after opening, etc. Its a very cool mod that makes MIUI even more awesome.
Heres a link to the creator of the mods thread...
http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?7738-MOD-Extended-Settings-Menu-Options
After installing there is a new app you will see called miui control, with the icon being a green android. Inside that app is where all the settings are. The google logo that appears in the top corner of the status bar is a carrier logo option that can be turned off. There are also new settings under settings/launcher.
Damnit. Tempt me to re flash MIUI again. Thanks as always RickS.

Crap...So I'm having FC hell with the launcher because I installed an app... I think someone said add an extra screen and it won't happen anymore?
EDIT: Didn't work. So, anytime a new icon gets added to the launcher it will FC. I will have to long hold search and go into settings and manage apps and delete the application.
EDIT#2: Fixed. You have to move your icons and widgets out of where the dock would originally be. I basically moved everything to the middle to be safe. Works fine and installs apps now.
Sorry you had that little bit of trouble...that's what I meant when I said that you had to move all apps from dock before flashing mod...I should have maybe said anything in the docks way...but anyway, what do you think of the mod? I'm hooked on this setup for now.
By the way, after you flash the mod you can put whatever you want where the dock would have of originally went. If you are going to install the original launcher again, make sure to move everything back from the dock area so you don't get fc's.

If you install the original mod from the original creator this will happen. To have the overscoll glow options, he modifies the framework.jar which isn't working right for the fascinate. Im looking into fixing this though. That's why I posted modified versions for the fascinate. Also, it's best not to flash another version of the mod on a different version of MIUI... ex extended settings mod v1.9.16 over MIUI 1.10.7.

As the name implies this is a modded SystemUI.apk that removes the location icon and extended quick settings!
This is my first status bar mod that I did entirely by hand! This will work on most any ROM but be advised if your ROM has more quicksettings you will loose them.
This is geared to those on a stock rooted de-odex'ed ROM such as: [ROM] - 12/28 - Stock Rooted WWE 1.02.605.6
This will work on versions of CleanROM 1.0 to 1.5 and will work on lllboredlll's ROM as well but you will loose his custom transparencies and will "re-gain" the recent app list. This will also work on Nils' Business GingerSense ROM as well.

If you want to use this in your own ROM please do not ask me, its yours to take. I dont require people to ask me to use any portions of any of my work. Thats lame and goes against the entire principals of a community and open source in general.
Just hit Thanks on the post!
Super huge thanks to erishasnobattery and the rest of TeamBAF for helping me (holding my hand) through this mod!
Big thanks to lllboredllll and fernandor sor for helping (doing most of the work) with the transparency!
Done!
Enjoy!

The only changes to the stock status bar are listed. No inversion. BTW: What do you mean by inverted? Sounds interesting. Can you provide a screenshot of what you are referring to?
good job ..... only one thing about my rom... it should work fine but to gain flashlight means you will add back recent apps... my sysui has location removed, no recent apps and transparency edits done throughout the xml
BUT this will be great for someone who wants recent apps back

Yep. I will eventually add more. This was my first one and I wanted to share.
There are a whole bunch of extra settings that are locked up that I am unlocking.

I am currently running ineffible rom basically because I just wanted to check it out. But there is too much clutter in that rom for me and some things aren't quite polished. There are a bunch of toggles in it, but I think alot of them are just clutter. I don't think I need an autorotation/autosync toggle in quicksettings, but a GPS and media volume one would be nice. If you added those, I would probably switch over to clean rom and use this. That is just me though.. it is your rom and mod. I wish we could just get a working lte only toggle. (ie uncheck it and it drops to 3G)

I agree 100% with the Auto Sync. I like the auto rotation I acutally use it . Now I think there is some general redundancy in having "Mobile Network" and "Airplane Mode". Next one will be to remove Mobile Network and add either volume or restart. Restart is more a pain in the but because then you also have to mode framework-res.apk so I will prolly change the Mobile Network to Volume.
But hotspot to flashlight was a low hangning fruit and my first attempt so... As I learn more I will mod more.
I would leave mobile network. I use that one alot. I figure others do too. I cut data lot while I am in bad service areas on campus so I can still call and text.

Interesting... I wonder how often people use Airplane Mode then?
I never do. I just hibernate it. Plus, if someone wants airplane mode they can just hit the power button and put it in that way with the extended menu.

That is an excellent point! Ok... Well then... Maybe I will try to add volume to Airplane mode...

I mean these are just my opinions, but I think quickly adjusting the media volume is a feature that should be more convenient than airplane mode.
I agree I like having mobile as I use it, and i never use airplane..
I actually think the more the extra toggles the better, i do miss that from skyraider.

I agree. How often does one really use airplaine mode.
Now... this is all assuming that I cannot physically add the code for volume and have to hack whats already there but I should be able to add it. In theory... lol

Awesome man!!
Thanks for all your hard work!
those toggles are a pain!!
I think the perfect setup would be...
Toggles in this order...
Wifi
Bluetooth
GPS
Flashlight
Mobile (I never use it, what do you use this for?)
3g/4g
Settings
Media Volume
Brightness
Ringer Mode
I think that's it. Can't wait to be done with that stupid location icon.

Camera is completely broken it will not take pictures rotate feature of it is also messed up
I had to go into settings/display/auto-rotate In order to enable autorotation using the toggle did not work and now the camera is working again. I'm not sure if this is a wrong issue or a kernel issue also auto brightness when you go outside will go to the brightest setting but when you come back inside it does not restore to a darker setting

Hello guys! It's me again doing some crazy stuff for a "dead" device
I managed to get an almost fully functional UltraSmoothRosie. That's right. There's only one single bug.
So:
BUGS
Pinch to zoom out force closes the launcher, use home button instead
Top bar icons are stretched and "All Apps", "Personalize" and "Add" ICONS are not visible (the buttons work)
The edit menu (when you longpress an icon or widget) is stretched in landscape mode (use portrait for removing/editing)
Previews when moving items are often wrongly placed, but the actual moving process works just fine
Wallpaper is aligned incorrectly
Homescreen indicator (the white bar that moves when you scroll) is not visible
Leap view (previews of the five homescreens) is all messed up
Previews of the homescreen in the Personalize Menu have icons and widgets aligned incorrectly
Give it a spin, and tell me if you can find any quirk/detail/bug. And if you download it and actually use/like it, click the thanks button

Just flash it in CWM, no wipes required.
Another minor mod, that I made playing around with the M10Tools is a modification to the HTC Lockscreen to remove the bottom bar and the circles around the icons to accomplish a cleaner (Sense 4 like) look.

FLYER'S NOT DEAD
j.weber said:
So, yesterday I looked into the UltraSmooth Rosie mod for many HTC handsets, and I noticed the Jetstream has one, so I decided to try it out on my Flyer (a long shot, I know). It worked, but the top navbar had sizing issues, which made it impossible to access "All Apps", "Personalize" and "Add" menus. Plus, when trying to delete an object from the screen, I noticed the "Remove" icon was offscreen too, so I could not remove stuff. A blazing fast, lagfree, and pretty useless launcher.
So i took M10 tools and started resizing what I thought was what I needed to, and the outcome was almost perfect. I still can't work out the png's sizing (they are exactly in the same place, but the actual FUNCTIONAL icons are moved where you can reach them, so the launcher is pretty much 100% functional. And believe me: it's damn smooth.
So:

Can you also upload the stock Rosie, in case we want to go back?
Restarted the Flyer today and I'm having force closes since then. Can't enter the launcher at all.

Any progress on those last few bugs?

I have been very busy lately but I managed to understand the logic behind HTC's Rosie layout. I fixed the positioning for all items for portrait, and landscape should be an easy process. The problem is I don't know how to fix the pinch to zoom out or the previews. But I can live with that. Maybe tomorrow I find some time to fix landscape and upload version 0.9. Cheers
All (except for ***** to zoom) fixed!
OP updated with version 1.0. All bugs but pinch to zoom fixed.
I installed the mod today and i Like it. Please fix the Last Bug and i will love it
I am going to be honest with you: I have absolutely no clue on how to do it. I think the way to fix it is SMALI editing, and that is a field I have no knowledge of. It would be pretty cool if we could get a real dev to take a look at it.
Did you try asking @hamdir? He should know a thing or two about that and maybe he can explain.
Tried installing it again on my Flyer and after boot I get continuous force close. Any suggestions on why?

Which ROM are you running? Did you try wiping and reflashing?
I was running a the stock rooted ROM. I tried with another ROM and it works again.
What I don't like is the animation in the app drawer when scrolling through app pages. It's a bit jerky.
It always was, as far as I reckon. HTC really did a crappy job at programming HC Rosie. It has so many flaws
The stock one has less that this one.
