2) ASUS started filling the inventory pipelines this past week for our new Eee Pad Transformer Prime and will continue to do so on an expedited basis for the foreseeable future. We will reach normal inventory levels in January for the North American market based on current orders and forecasts. Based on forecasted supply schedules to our valued partners we expect pre-order allocation fulfillment to occur shortly and online or in-store availability in the very near future. If this was intended as a gift, we would like to recommend changing toa different tablet to ensure on time delivery for the holidays. Otherwise, werecommend keeping your order in place to hold your position in the queue for atablet once they are available. If you decide you would like to have yourorder cancelled, please contact our customer care department here:
http://secure1.ncix.com/message/?dept=2
In the meantime, we would like to offer you a $25 off coupon on anyother in stock tablet.

This was from NCIX Canada an official TFP reseller. It does say worldwide delays... I hope they're wrong. Anyways. Make what you will of it, we still don't have a release date. Figures.
Probably not going to cancel, so feel free to grab that code if you want 25$ off a new tablet from NCIX.

Thanks for that info. I find it most interesting that Asus still hasn't officially come out and said anything. Well anything other than how many people are enjoying their tablet. My question is though that obviously if this is a worldwide issue, if Asus choose to postpone the canadian launch and reroute a known good batch of tablets to some of their US retailers. I say this since both GameStop and BestBuy both seem to be sticking to launch dates of the 19th which means they must be getting tablets from Asus. Also which is why other retailers are stating after christmas and why Amazon canceled orders. Because they knew they wouldn't get enough from Asus to meet demands.
While this does suck, it could however mean that they will launch with ICS. Asus wouldn't delay a launch for a software issue, so this is likely a hardware issue and will require the entire lineup to be redone which will take sone time.

The other possibility is that bestbuy and gamestop are just much slower to send the info down through their internal channels and to their customers. NCIX and memory express in canada are much smaller so maybe they simply are getting the info out quicker. Who knows though

While that is always a possibility, some people are recieving status updates on their orders with the docks shipped date being moved up from BestBuy to the 19th, the same day as the tablet, without the tablet date being pushed back. Also with GameStop they always stop taking orders on special items when they meet their quota. If they stopped because they reached their quota that means they know how many they are getting and since they haven't told customers that they are delayed and even promised to ship a few tablets to non-tablet stores, they are pretty confident in their stock and probably already have them in their warehouse for distribution.

Lets hope So. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us. We are to close now. A week n 3-4 days Prime should be in my hands. I was told the 19th several times when I preordered a few weeks back. Haven't called to check since. As I felt confident they will have it. Some places already have them in the back but can't distribute them until the 19th.
Asus should just give all of us who preordered from GameStop a free controller and dock for our troubles.

Apparently they know what the problem is and are able to turn it around quickly.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5178/an-update-on-transformer-prime-battery-life-wifi-issues
The guys (if history is any indicator) at AnandTech have been pretty spot on with both release dates and reviews, check out there review on the Prime as an example. They were (as far as I know) the first to point out a problem with the WiFi. Of course Asus told them it was a defective unit (suspect), regardless they withheld there final analysis until they received a second unit which did "not" exhibit the same WiFi issues, which then to me means, they are able to fix it quickly, maybe a ROM update or something, IDK, regardless we will see. GameStop where I have mine on pre-order here in Houston continues to tell me it will be available on the 19th. I am a personal friend of the manager, his wife works with my wife ...kinda thing. If he had heard anything to the contrary he would tell me, so for now...on target.
Ouch. Even if we get tablets on-time they're likely to be busted. The wifi on the demo unit at GameStop definitely was fluctuating wildly both times I played with it, I had assumed the signal just sucked, but I didn't compare to my phone.
It's also concerning that the "fixed" one was still much more impeded than the original transformer.
yup. waiting for my email now. which is fine ill wait I do not care.

Where did you do the preorder in houston? GS told me I was the first to preorder at the 249, spring cypress location. With all this issue and asus not saying a word maybe I should just not expect it before xmas. If you bought the transformer you would remember that asus pull the same **** with the supply. We didn't even know where it was going to be available, just had to try different online retailers. But at least it had a release date count down. My guess is within a few days of availability asus will announce the date. And if it was to be after the 19th...I'm canceling all my preorders. **** that...asus claiming to be first quadcore with ics. We already know the prime is not first with ICS. Hopefully it can still be first quadcore.

For starters, there is no other quad core tablet out now. Even if prime doesn't show until febuary or march, it will still be first quad core with ICS. as it'll ship with it or update to ICS immediately after. That Chinese tablet running ICS is b.s. Anyways..lmao plus it's not a powerful device at all. So Asus will still hold both titles until someone else has same setup on store shelves. Some people already have device in their hands. So first quad core is already achieved. ICS will be available to update to very soon. No other quad core won't release until at least march at earliest and that's pushing it. Ipad3 won't be quad core or running ICS. That Acer n Samsung tablet still a long ways away. It's all still rumpled right now. No physical devices been shown. Only good tablet that's about to be released soon other than prime is the galaxy tab 7.7. Which will the best/most powerful/best display having out of all the galaxy lineup. Aside from the Galxy note

I wish Asus would have said "we have no wifi issue" instead of the "we didn't know anything about wifi issue"
Asus would really make points with me if they really delayed the tab because the wifi has problems.
I mean better than shipping it with knowing the problems.
But again Asus does not give any information and that sucks big deal...

Best Buy Local In-store / online ordering post 12/14

I'm starting to see that the possibility to in-store purchase this product or arrange a pre-order for future shipment is becoming a lost cause.
For me I had to wait until I 3 weeks for the arrival of my new debit card from a bank I set up on Black Friday to come before I could do any pre-ordering for the Transformer Prime, a tablet I laid my eyes on shortly after experiencing a blackeye on Friday getting burned by Best Buy when they're ****ty Telecheck service declined my personal check for the Door Buster $249 Eee Pad Transformer and $200 SHARP 1080p HDTV. By the time I received my new a debit card I noticed that Best Buy had taken away the pre-order option off BestBuy.com and replaced it with a 'Coming Soon' picture and there was news pouring from the country up north of supply shortage due to faulty units.
I still thought my luck would turn and that I still might be able to get one from the nearby store on the Prime's launch date but the tech gossip news of recall and defects seem to only got worsen as the official US retailer launch date of the prime approached yet the folks at the local Best Buy retailer were still confident when I called-in, they say that they were still getting their shipment by midnight of 12/19. Yet when the 19th came and passed their story changed to unsure, uncertainty, some stating that Asus was pulling recalling their shipment orders.
Today I decided to pop-in instead of calling (which they rarely answer) the Best Buy in my area, I decided to go in and speak with someone directly which is here at the Best Buy in Greenwood, IN.
When asked about the availability of the Prime and it's accessories the retail clerk to my disbelief, pretty much used the same system I've been using all this time: BestBuy.com as I heard him mumble the "coming soon" message.
I asked if they had received any shipment of the Prime since it's release, he said they haven't.
Now that's pretty sad. I already know none of the Gamestop's in my area don't have it either, it was this past weekend I asked a Gamestop clerk about the Transformer Prime and he gave me a blank stare and said "What is that?"
At this point I'm thinking of crossing off Best Buy as my retailer for the Prime and will have to start looking else where, but hey maybe someone else here had better luck with in-store purchase from Best Buy for the Prime. Please share your experience.

Only 80,000 primes on order for march-april from retailers

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2402248,00.asp
"For some of the same reasons discussed in concluding that the balance of the hardshipsfavors Asus, the Court concludes that the present injunction would not serve the public interest. First, as noted, Asus contends that a recall would hurt its component suppliers and fabricators, and submits that as of February 24, 2012, it had received over 2,000 pre-orders (end usercustomers who have ordered Asus tablet computers and given credit card information), and thatretailer fulfillment orders for the next two months total approximately 80,000 tablet computers."
Retailers must not have much confidence in the product.
Has asus given any sales numbers other than whats in this court document?
This doesn't even count what's been sold already..lol. plus we already discussing this in detail in another thread. Didn't need a complete new one for this.
Plus you a few days late on this info

only 82k primes produced till feb end?

source: http://www.dailytech.com/Only+82K+ASUS+Transformer+Primes+Delivered+Cause+Unknown/article24333.htm
quoting
" Sales figures for the Transformer Prime were released in the court decision, stating that the company had delivered --as of Feb. 24 -- only 2,000 preorders, and another 80,000 units to retailers worldwide. If those figures sound bad, it's because they are. (Granted, this was a month ago, but it seems unlikely things have changed substantially.)"
this is much lesser than i thought. was asus prime not the most preordered android tablet ever!
fyi - i love my prime. it's been my obsession since dec 22nd.
the more the prime is sold, the more the community, the more the support we all get.

That info doesn't show all prime tablets sold since launch. Its missing info from it. Plus it was the most pre ordered android tablet. So there's more to how Any they actually sold than that little piece of info we know from the court documents.
Actually...

Funny how we use info for our own agendas. If we are talking about the "Less than 1% returned", then we trust the official statements. When they say they sold 80k, we don't believe it. Actually I suspect that number is the gross tablets sold after the massive (er... I mean 1%) returned units. I will NEVER believe that number. At least 75% of the XDA members had moire than one Prime, myself included. Granted XDA is a small portion of overall sales, and we are a lot more technically "picky" lets say, but it still shows the RATE of dissatisfaction was higher than 1%.
Note that the court documents reflect Asus' stated sales numbers. The source of the data was directly from Asus.
Note also that I love my Prime as well. It is indeed an obsession. Though one with many, many disapointments. The latest was how lackluster the .21 update was. I did not see all the "Awesome New Features" promised. Maybe I need to look harder, LOL.

The court source only shows pre orders and sales for a month or so. They are still months of sales missing in it. Wyand32 explained it better in another thread where we already discussed this. So for whatever reason, from looking at court documents, Asus didn't release the complete sales record beginning with preorders all the way up to present. There are prices in-between missing.
Which market do those figures relate to?
Where was the case taken? its possible they only relate to one of the American states or Japan if that is where the action was tried...
case was tried in california. numbers were made by asus in quantifying recall cost of the tablet.

to me that reads as if there are currently 2000 orders from consumers and a further 80,000 orders to the trade that are registered in the system. it says nothing about orders that have already been fulfilled. The point regarding these figures is about the potential damage to sales should the product be banned from sale...
Note that in a case like this, an injunction would mean that ASUS would have to stop selling the Prime until the case was decided, and any stock sitting in retailer inventory would have to be recalled. It does NOT mean that already-sold units would be recalled from end customers (there's no way a court would inflict this hardship on consumers).
So, these numbers have nothing to do with how many units have been sold, but are rather what ASUS presented to the court to describe the hardship that an injunction would have on them. The 2,000 "pre-orders" number (note, only for February up to the date of the filing) is going to be low, because there aren't that many retailers that take orders from customers and then order from ASUS. Most don't take customer orders until they have stock on-hand. Note that ASUS had to put SOMETHING down, because otherwise they'd have nothing to report--there simply isn't much inventory sitting around that they'd have to recall if an injunction were put in place.
The 80,000 number, on the other hand, is clearly the orders ASUS had received from retailers for March and April, and it's what ASUS is pointing to in describing the impact of an injunction. They're saying, basically, "Look, judge, there will be 80,000 consumers hurt if there's an injunction. Do you really want to hurt 80,000 consumers this way?"
In short, these numbers are meaningless in trying to figure out how many Primes have been sold, except to tell us that ASUS anticipates selling 80,000 in March and April. If that's been their run rate since the Prime started hitting shelves in December, we're looking at somewhere around 200K units sold by the end of April. As we know, supply has been constrained versus demand, and so we have no idea how many Primes could have been sold if ASUS had met that demand. I'm still guessing that Tegra 3 supply has been the constraining factor, but that's just a guess.

No disrespect Wy, and Deman don't go off quoting because a figure looks good. It is not 80,000 consumers hurt, it's 2,000 that have given credit card info and absolutely have ordered between 01/07 and 02/25 (discovery summons to oral arguements, date of filing was 12/16, and 12/21 for 21 day summons). The 80,000 do refer to the 2 months after oral arguments but it refers to the vendors and parts suppliers being hurt not paying end-users per the judge agreeing.
Edit: Wy I just realized you said that most companies don't take preorders until they have product in hand. Where were you in Nov-Dec while we were all cursing amazon, bestbuy and everyone else for charging our cards and/or canceling our preorders.
2nd Edit. This is not an argument for or against sales. Just to get the facts straight to keep from being refered to as fanboys. My opinion is sales were low but I don't care because I have mine with no returns 12/27/12 Best buy w/adh for gps fix

I was here during then. lol I remember the outrage over that situation of them charging cards and then canceling alot of peoples preorders. I guess those places probably initially thought they would be in but didn't pan out like they planned.

Yeah if I remember you correctly you went to gamestop in crystal city, because I then called her and she told me the opposite of what she told you which made me think "Not gonna try to get it from there"

yep, that's correct. I also just recently called them and they have more primes in stock at that store. no keyboard docks though. as that was what I was looking for. they do have those Logitech gaming controllers in stock for it. costs $40. I have a ton of great games that will benefit from it. plus I would finally be able to play more onlive games.
So that is settled. 80,000 TFP to be sold in the next 2 months. Case (and hopefully thread?) closed.

Yes, to clarify, there was a preorder period before the Prime launched. That's common. Not so much after launch. And yes, I suppose there are some places that will take an order and project a few weeks out. That's not so common, however.

OP's prerogative, but why, it just looks like you don't want negative things about TFP said. In fact most things said here refute the original article quoted in the OP

Not OP, no prerogative, without flaming or otherwise, also I think you missed the facts the 80,000 were orders for retailers for this past month and April, not sales and not next two months. May and June orders for retailers could be more or less and either way do not translate exactly to sales which could be more or less.
Sorry/Apology in general, just like facts, not things just thrown out, and whims because someone likes or does not like a topic or post. Either ignore the post/thread or deal with it unless rules are broken.
EDIT: BTW I like Wy and Deman and this is not bromancing, maybe I should say respect not like.
Edit 2: Yeah definately should have said respect but I also have an aversion to changing an OP to make oneself look better, except spelling.
Says BlackInjun

Best Buy keeps saying the prime is discontinued.

First of all, let me just say that I have a prime with a working gps (accuracy down to 5 feet) and I absolutely love my prime. The only way I'm going to replace my prime is if I can get my hands on the infinity.
I just called 4 different best buys to ask if they have a prime. I've been looking for one as a gift for someone. All 4 told me the prime is discontinued. And to prove that this is not just another rumor thread, here are the individual best buys I called.

Asus has to stop selling their Prime if they want to sell their Infinity at all, unless they expect to sell their Infinity 32GB at lesat $650. That's without the keyboard. So you are talking about $750 for a tablet. I never thought I would ever see prices on a tablet in my life go towards this much but that's the only way Asus could sell both of them together. They can't lower the price on the Prime because of course they already have the 300 in there. Just another company releasing too many products on top of one another without making one perfect. Too bad. The potential "was" there.
I was in a best buy last weekend that had the 201 and 300 both on display. They were even on an end cap prominently displayed with signs and everything. Also had a demo guy walking around with a 201 showing it to people.
Amazon has them and the dock is $108.
I got a refund for my prime purchased on Feb. 3rd and had no problem finding a prime at Best Buy. I did a search this morning on their website, found 2 stores in Austin that said in stock, went in an hour ago and walked out with a new gray tone prime. On Friday I did a search and none of the stores had them in stock. They must have gotten a shipment in this week. Sales guy said they sold one yesterday also.
I will say sales rep was pushing the t300 hard. Mainly for the cost of it. Get the keyboard dock with it and it would have been $50 more than the prime. It really is a good deal but I'm hoping the C4 I got will perform better than the C1 with wifi/bt. I also already have a case I like for the prime and the gps dongle. I didn't know if they would be compatible and have 30days to test out this model for issues.
You can try calling the stores here in Austin and see if they will ship you one from their location.
Its pretty cool that Best Buy is now in charge of ASUS manufacturing. Especially democratic of them to let the idiots who can't tell me the difference between DSLR and point and shoot cameras decide what the consumer wants.

Best buy is the worst place to buy one anyway (and worst place to buy most anything else too).
Even if you need it right away, Amazon is a better place to buy. With my Amazon Prime membership I could get two day shipping for free and overnight for just $4.00 more. When I got mine a couple of weeks ago now, the device itself was $25 less than retail/best buy and as mentioned the keyboard/dock was $108 rather than retail. Then throw in no sales tax.
Even without the prime membership you could probably get two day shipping and still pay much less than best buy.
If its isn't discontinued, it is going to quietly disappear soon, especially with the Infinity being around the corner.

OP / GoodIntentions
I know the feeling you have. I live in IL as well, the bestbuys around me plus the ones in other towns I go through for my work all say "the prime is discontinued".
Which seems to be a regional thing cause I've heard of them being sold in other states, but it seems IL just wants to sell the TF300 - no offense to it but I dont see why they released it, it's less powerful. But then again thats a different kettle of fish.
I hope you find one for sale. If you cant I would recommend amazon, thats where I got mine at - I'm very happy with it! Got it with the dock as well, and again no problems with it!
So what? The TF201 is discontinued. Its not like product support will end. The Transformer TF101 will be supported for awhile and the TF201 even longer.
I love my Prime and it works great. The Infinity replaces it.
If only there was a way to get the $105 dock to Australia, can't seem to find any docks around here.
Do we REALLY need another one of these threads?
Bestbuy reps usually have no idea wtf is going on.
Know that saying only a fool takes a fool's advice? well....
Also, what company do you know of that has ever announced its discontinued a product line? Ever?
We already know the prime had limited availability pretty much worldwide. Far too much demand, not enough supply. IF you hit a store when they got a shipment you were golden, if you were too late you had to wait around for another shipment.
My local BB and FS stopped stocking the prime, they are selling it as a web only. They can order it to the store if you ask a rep that knows how, otherwise they try to sell you something else saying its "just as good".
You could have done a quick search and gotten the answer to this:
"discontinued" on best buy's system isnt asus discontinuing the prime. its a code that comes up when the SKU is searched. It just means best buy is no longer ordering that particular thing for restock. it has nothing to do with asus manufacturing.
the reason, im just is that logically the prime has no place in the asus ecosystem anymore. peole that want a midrange tablet can get the 300, people that want the upscale can get the 700 for $500, the same price as a prime. theres no upshot for them to continue ordering old models that serve no purpose.
fwiw HMV in the UK has Primes in the stores again.

In the US they are still readily available from Amazon.com....but the price has gone up about $60. I bought mine a couple of weeks ago for $475 with free prime shipping. The same thing today is $534. I have to wonder if the supply is drying up?
At the same time their pricing on used ones has dropped from $415to $360..
Anyway it seems to me that the only way they could keep selling the prime would be to drop its price to no more than $400 - but then they would have to drop the TF300 down to about $300. So you would end up with a three device lineup at $300, $400, and $500 (TF300, TF201, TF700). Wonder how much they have to get for them to actually make money? Seems like they would come out ahead by just discontinuing the prime and leaving the 300 priced as it is.
Still - I think I got mine at a good time

It went up because Amazon is out of stock on that particular model, so it lists a market reseller whom is trying to make a little more.
Note that Amazon has the champagne model listed today at 479 and free shipping. Must have dug a few up.

These stores could simply mean that their specific Bestbuy stores are no longer carrying the Prime. Or it could mean that Bestbuy in general is no longer going to carry the Prime.
This could be because they are preparing for the Infinity to reach stores in the next month or so and don't want to buy inventory of a tablet very similar to the Infinity and which is due for a price drop. Or it could be because they already offer the TP300 and are getting the Infinity and see no need to offer 3 very similar tablets rather than stocking products from other vendors.
In any case, Asus has said that they are still manufacturing the Prime and new stock keeps showing up at Amazon and other retailers. Given that Asus manufactures the Prime I would trust Asus to know more about the manufacturing lifespan of their product over any retailer.
With Asus and the TF700 don't count your chickens before they hatch! With Asus's track record the TF700 may fall into their normal black hole of device release delays! Or even worse than that is that they will release 100 the first week, 200 the second week, etc... and then rave about how they can't keep them on the shelves!
My local BB still had 3 in stock and a few keyboards too.
