Well today Asus UK confirmed there are no plans to bring it in to the UK. Not even with the launch of the new Slider

Really annoyed about this... Showing photo's of a product they were going to release has meant I have kept my Transformer. If they had said back then "we are not releasing a dock" I would have sold it and bought another tablet.
Shocking customer service from ASUS here.
That's what I thought, they wouldn't release it. If they really had the idea of releasing that dock, they would have done it when they launched the tablet. Didn't make sense launching it more than a year after.
Too bad, I too wanted one.
Maybe somebody can do something with the mini stand from targus. With a bit of dremel work and some imagination, it may be posible to integrate the original charger into it.

I was also disappointed that the stand did not come out. I did find this Targus Adjustable Stand for Tablets at a local TJ Maxx. You run the cable through the bottom of the slot and there is a cut out on the bottom side for the cord to sit in and run out the back. It is a little loose but does the job.

Yes, I saw that, but I was hoping that TJ Maxx had it for a bargain price, like they usually do.
I wound up getting it from Amazon, because of the free shipping
($25.00+, but I can always find something else to buy...)
As shocked as I am that Asus (with a normally above-average level of customer service) is leaving us Transformer owners out in the cold -- I'm doubly surprised that one of the countless low-cost-high-return Chinese manufacturers haven't come up with any knock-off add-ons for the Transformer yet. I suspect they will - but who knows when. I'll say this - Asus's treatment of those of us that bought their $500-$600 gadget has left a *very* sour taste in my mouth. It'll be Samsung from here on out for me.

I got it for $7.99.
Just stumbled on this thread, and I guess it's the final confirmation that Asus has no intention of ever shipping this stand, despite listing it for purchase in the US and Europe for some time. (Part number 90-XB2UOKST00010, UPC 884840036500).
Shame of it was, US-market pricing was VERY reasonable -- on the order of US$25-30. I'd have happily picked up several of these, at that price.
Have to wonder why Asus abandoned this, after they put the money into designing and presumably tooling up for it. (I highly doubt those seen photographed online were entirely handmade -- likely hand-assembled, but they must've made molds etc. at the very least. I know a rendering when I see one, and some of the high-res pics of this dock were definitely not renderings.)

I just read Office Depot's return policy on this. If it is opened you can only get an exchange, no refund. Only way to get a refund is to have NOT opened it. Weird, huh?

Or Buy one from somewhere else and return the unopened one to OD.

I accidently ordered one from Office Depot and I can't cancel it. It will be here next week on Tuesday or Wednesday. I forgot that I won't be opening it, so I can return it for a full refund. Unless someone wants it here? Of course need to confirm delivery, since New Year holiday is here.

They will try to exchange it but seeing that they will not be having any available in store anytime soon they will just have to give you a full refund.

Since ASUS removed the "GPS" feature from the product sheet online. It might be that much harder to argue that since GPS doesn't work, it's defective.

I suspect that is precisely why they did it... Very shady indeed. I don't think I will buy another Asus product if this is how they resolve issues.
Its as if they threw together a device that would sell like hot cakes, didn't really think it out or make sure it was working correctly. They just wanted to cash out quickly and seems as if they could care less about what we think.

I really want to be wrong though. ASUS is still a top tier hardware & laptop manufacturer. It just doesn't make sense to me how they'd let their tablet department get so far out of hand that this sort of disgraceful stuff could go on. This honestly doesn't seem like ASUS at all. They're usually extremely trust-worthy and conscientious.
If this doesn't get fixed we could see a major restructuring of their tablet line, or have it abandoned all-together. ASUS takes real pride in their reputation, and this whole fiasco is tarnishing their reputation pretty badly.

How sure are we of that? I remember ASUS as one of the top tier motherboard manufactures, perhaps 3rd behind Gigabyte and MSI.
but as far as the top tier laptops go, IBM/Lenovo, DELL, Gateway, SONY, Toshiba, HP, Apple and Samsung having had that market covered.
It's sort of strange today that ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI all make laptops now instead of just motherboards. But are we really certain that ASUS has passed the brands above? I can't picture the above brands acting in the same manner ASUS have being doing with the Prime.

http://www.excaliberpc.com/610469/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime.html
*Edit*
I have no idea why... can't watch the video, and I still haven't seen where is says it's discontinued... OHHH.... he's talking about the availability to purchase it... Dude, that probably just means they are out of stock!
It also says "or vendor". They're probably not able to get their hands on stock right now
Well, when I went to Best Buy to get my TFP replaced, she said that they couldn't replace it, because the particular model Grey TF201 32GB had been discontinued. Then she did an OMS and was able to send a new one to me. So I don't know. It's possible. But if it is. Asus owes us all New TF700t.
There's talk of this over at transformerforums also, I personally don't think it's true. Although if Asus is getting back the majority of the Primes sold as RMAs it might be their only choice.
My guess is that they'll fulfill their orders and then stop production of it and attempt to address the issues, allow a swap with the new one for those who have already bought it and then gut the old ones and put the the insides into the new casing and maybe sell them for a slightly discounted price.
Obvious this is just a theory, but I would like to see thi happen.
Getting the same thing at a much larger retailer: Newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230219
well damn..
It doesn't make sense for them to skip a whole price point, having the original transformer at $400, the Prime at $500 and the TF700 at $600. I'm betting this will discontinue this particular model, and replace it with the Prime+ or something like that which is just the Prime, but with the back casing from the TF700 to solve the wifi/gps issues.
Returns cost them money
Maybe they just don't want the hastle and expense of all the returns.
my second prime seems ok (just received 2 days ago) but hearing this news, what will it mean to those who keep it? Is it better to return it and wait for the new one or keep it and hope Asus will still support us and continue to update the original prime's software 6 months from now? I only have 1 week left to return....
Ok, I asked them on their wall on Facebook if it really was being discontinued (the official ASUS page on Facebook) and this is what I got in reply:

Pretty much always better to wait for a new anything, if you have an alternative till then.
Asus should support it as far as updates for a while, they are even updating the original. Why wouldn't they?
Wasn't it reported Asus admitted it has a design compromise and removed GPS from the specs on some ASUS sites?
MAybe shipments are delayed as they are removing GPS from the box label?
Or are they going to change the design slightly to allow it to work better, who knows...
From a resale point of view it may drop in value quicker than normal.
Possibly a tweaked current model design,
won't be long till the iPad 3 is out and also the enhanced hi-res Prime.
Then Windows 8 transformer type tablets will hit with a big impact.
But today the Prime is still selling at a premium on eBay .
aww.... is that true and official?

Transformer Prime, by far the biggest flop in Android tablet market (comparable to Ryan Leaf). 1st quad-core Android tablet with bags of potential (and hype)... & completely failed to deliver. Multiple issues that hasn't been resolved & articles such as this one continuing... can we un-officially label Transformer Prime as the biggest flop (failure) now?? Been 4 to 5 month now since release......

Holy crap, why do luck and fortune not favor me!?
Lol, good job ASUS. Keep up the good work. I wonder if this is why so many RMA's take so much time, and then people just end up getting replacements.
Surely there's a phone number somewhere with the address and other RMA paperwork, I'd certainly have to get a hold of the owner. I would not pay to ship it to them though, nor would I try and have them pay for it. ASUS would be issuing some prepaid labels.
Nothing but f*cking clowns working at Asus.
This does not surprise me. I wouldn't do a damn thing i would leave it packagedup for a month in case asus contacted me other than that i would enjoy my complementary tablet.
I just got my GPS dongle today and i am appauled. It looks like they built them backwards with the 3 screws screaming in my face. they care more about what passersby's see than the person who spent $500.
I will be sending my tab in for rma after i get back from jamaica but after that i will never deal with asus again. They lost a loyal customer on all their products.
I wonder if you haven't opened it can you just do a return to sender?
First let me begin by saying, Asus got a lot of "new" customers because of the awesome features of the prime.
If I was Asus CEO I would stop building the prime "as is" and offer existing owners either a free trade-in voucher for the 300 or either a $500 credit towards the upcoming 700. I would forget about this dongle crap and fire the person who thought of it. I would replace the 200 back with the plastic (Only if it fixes the problems)
My reasons why:
1) The dongle didn't address the main problem and that is poor WFI reception.
2) The dongle while appreciated is ugly, it doesn't fit in existing car tablet holders etc.. Can you imagine if you bought a Lexus and the XM radio couldn't get reception and they told you to put this banana on top of your car. yes I compared to a Lexus because its a premium products compared to the competitors tablets.
3) I would be afraid to lose my new customers that I have gained. Let's face it would you seriously recommend this to a friend without telling them everything?
4) The 200 is a "good" product that is almost a great product. WFI/BLUETOOTH issues. Is simply unacceptable! That is the foundation of a good tablet.
In closing, while I appreciate Asus attempts to fix the problems, software updates, dongles etc. They have only done it with a band-aid and they need a surgeon. Please don't get me wrong I really do like the prime after 2x C10's and finally a C30 it is again good but not great.
Okay, just thought I would put that out there, your thoughts?

I'M simply saying that Asus made a good product that can be better. It seems to me they are making the same mistake that HP made years ago, they had all of these new and exciting innovations but was lacking in quality. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but this isn't the US, there's no First Amendment or anything of that sort here. Many have said similar things before, why not post in one of those rant threads rather than create a new one?
Also, what you're suggesting will get the CEO voted out in an EGM. No company has offered a free upgrade or a huge discount for an upgrade over an important feature that's not working up to par. If an important feature is entirely not working, then that's a different story. However, wifi still works, albeit with poorer range and speed, but that's not grounds to ask for a nearly free upgrade. Apple merely provided bumper cases for Antennagate which cost it next to nothing. You're asking Asus to shell out $300-$500 for hundreds of thousands of Prime owners. See the difference? Shareholders would dump Asus stock in a hurry if that happened. And that's also why you aren't the CEO.

I'm sorry what?! I would love to see you present your case in front of the Asus board of Directors.
Gentlemen, as we know, the Asus Prime's return rate falls well within the accepted percentage for our products. We also know that demand outstripped supply. Therefore, my suggestion is that we stop making it. Not only that but we'll offer people the chance of returning all 80,000 we've sold to-date and give them $500 towards the TF-700.
Asus only make around $80-100 profit on each Prime sold. Why would you ever think this would be a good business idea?!

Really, I'm glad I am not CEO. today most desire for mammonism and a desire to please shareholders do not do what is right.
As a leader I was wondering if I missed something because some companies are offering refunds or exchanges for faulty products. Apple is currently doing it for bad WFI and yes, Asus is giving (in some cases), full refunds. Wouldn't a voucher be cheaper and a way of keeping your customer?
In closing, I do not take for granted what Asus has done. In fact, thank you Asus.

Vouchers are pretty messy business as you have to make sure your major retailers are prepared to accept it. Just refunding cold hard cash is much simpler.

Well, since this is all hypothetical... if I am the CEO of Asus.. with the current situation, I would...
1. Stop all production of TF 201. Re-assign leftover materials to produce TF201 to Pad 300 & Infinity 700.
2. Focus all marketing and PR to Pad 300 & Infinity 700... & hope that one of these two products do well in sales & turn the media attention away from TF 201
3. Do not make a single comment about TF 201 (let it die on its own) & act as if TF 201 doesn't exist.
4. Few month/years down the road... blame Google/Nvidia for the piss poor performance of TF 201 (such as poor kernel, drivers.. whatever)... and recuperate some "image" from TF 201 experience/testing.
