Roms without crapware? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello, I have an Ace with a custom rom from Movistar (a mobile operator in Spain). I'd like to have the phone without all of those crapware that the operators install in.
What should I have to do to have a clean firmware? Are there stock roms from Samsung or Google but not from mobile operators? When I search for roms I can only see roms from Orange, Movistar, etc.
Or would it be better to install a custom rom like Cyanogen or so?

Here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-S5830&r=1#regiona you can find them. Most of them are garbage-free (I believe that Spain is the only country that does that ). Use the one you like most, there are no big differences.
I really like CM7. But it really battery-hungry.

Yes, I knew the site, I'm registered there, but for 2.3.5 version I can't see a Rom for europe or spain without mobile operator dependencies... or could I install any of them although it said France, Russia or another country?

You dont need to change your firmware just to remove some apps. Why are you trying to catch your nose from round your head while you could easily catch it straight forward (what did i just say )
Root your mobile and then use a file manager that has root access like RootExplorer,Super Manager or File manager.
After you open file manager, you might be in sdcard(depends, its based on the file manger you are using).Go up a level and you will see a folder a called apps, delete whatever you want from there.Be careful though,if you accidentally delete system apps, your phone is...GONE

BTW,theres no problem with downloading another region's firmware. The only difficulty you MIGHT face is,the default lang. aka the lang. you see when you reboot your phone for the first time after flash, might be different

If you like stock firmware I would suggest GingerReal 1.4 or a deodexed/rooted rom from Lovetz' thread. Both in development section.
Sent from a phone with an app.

yes, u should have root access if u want to del or uninstall system apps.
rooting ur phone is a better option than flashing another rom because ur phone may be locked to a perticular carrier.
for ur country rom try samsung firmware site (just Google it)

UK ROM on different phone?

I think i have a Latin American version of the phone. Is it safe to flash with a UK ROM? Will it, for all intent and purposes, be like a UK version of the SGS2?
Yeh it'll be fine as long as there are no hardware differences, you can find stock firmwares on samfirmware.com

Thanks! Gonna do this afternoon then!
You're welcome, if i was you I would flash a generic European rom (XEU) as they receive ROM updates through Kies before the UK specific versions do, I'm on O2 in the UK and still on KE2 (my product code is O2U)

I plan on flashing this one, which is the last one listed for Europe on SamFirmwares.com:
I9100XWKF3 ## EXT4.PIT 2.3.3 2011 June 9 CSC - KCL
Is that a good one to get?
I'm starting to understand the whole firmware numbers now. Damn, talk about immersing yourself in a new culture to learn the language!
Seems like the newest generic UK ROM is KE7.
Since I'm in the US, and there is no US version of the phone, I wonder which CSC I should use. I guess it comes down to which region has the most desirable app choices in the market, huh?

Samsung Galaxy S II ROM(ZSKF4 or XWKE7)

Hello,
I have read about different's ROM's that is available but I didn't understand
1. What's the newer ROM that is available for SGS II?
2. What is the diffrent beetween those roms(ZSKF4 and XWKE7)?
3. How do i know if the ROM version fit to my Galaxy S II?
Thank you
You will find all the Official ROM's here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
And all the ROM's you will find here are compatible with GSII.
Regards.
Thank you.
But how do i know what is the diffrent beetween ZSKF4 and XWKE7
and how do i know what is the language of the ROM?

KF4 is after KE7 as in K is 2011 E is a month 7 is build
No change logs published by Samsung .
and how do i know what is the language of the ROM?
By reading the instructions on the first page of that link .
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.

Region codes.
This helps me a lot.
I ran a google search but i didn't find which is better and what is the diffrent
ZS = Hong Kong
XW = ?
There is something i would prefer?
Can I install any ROM i want? if i have XW version this is possible to install ZS?
You can install any ROM's any time over any ROM. ZS is dedicated for Hong Kong, ZN is China, why should you install them if you are not located in those countries? XW is open region I guess, it's mainly for Europe and some other Asian countries like India and else.

I have found that XXKG6 ROM have the support i need but nothing mentions about JH. This ROM Runs android 2.3.4 i have 2.33 , If I will install the ROM
it will change to 2.3.4?
If you install a 2.3.4 ROM then you will definitely have 2.3.4.
Regards.
After i flashed the ROM, can I just install CSC with odin?
And if i will flash another kernel CSC will be removed right?
Kernel doesn't have anything to do with CSC. I don't the first part of your query though.
1. When flashing while i'm in install mode i always get an error:
cannot access system/csc/dbt/system
this is normal?
2. I have Frankenstein XXKG6 it seen to be great but there is an RTL fix to this build?
if not what is the recommended firmware that support RTL?
Hi All,
My firmware version for the S2 is
PDA: I9100XWKF3
Phone: I9100XXK27

Can anyone please tell me if this is the latest firmware?
Any help is appreciated.

[Q] Is my phone standard?

Hi
I've been jailbreaking iphones since they came out but have switched to android now so I'm a noob again!
I bought a new S2 on ebay (sealed) but I'm not sure it's standard UK, I've attached 2 screen grabs.
Could someone please tell me if my phone is rooted? (the [email protected] is what got me thinking)
In case attachments don't work:
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKH1-CL431225 [email protected] #2
Also:
PDA: I9100XWKH1
PHONE: I9100XXKG5
CSC: I9100XEUKH1
And is it possible for me to ugrade to ICS?
I've tried researching here and other websites. Odin is clearly the way to go and I see lots of XXK** and other 5 digit codes which i guess are region/Firmware specific but mine don't seem to match any of these??
Any help much appreciated.
Pretty standard stuff. XEU stands for UK Unbranded. Firmware is an old one though. Follow links in my signature to proceed. ICS has been released though we are still waiting for a unbranded UK version. Enjoy.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Dell is the name of the system on which this kernel was made. It is currently not rooted.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Yeah, Linux formats things as "username"@"computer". Samsung just compile their kernels logged in as root.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
I looks like you have a standard build.
If you really want to check whether your phone is rooted or not, try downloading the "superuser" app from the market (sorry, "Google Play").
If your phone isn't rooted, it'll tell you.

I have been reading in various places that XEU is a Polish version, is that correct? I'm a bit confused as to whether I have UK or Polish version - should be looking at XEUKH1 or XEUKH1 ??
Thanks

For the CSC part, you should be looking at I9100 XEU KH1; U+K is just a mere coincidence.
XEU is the code of the operator or the code of the "unbranded operator" - in my case I use "TPH" which is the unbranded csc for Portugal.
As for the token KH1:
K stands for the year - 2011 (ICS builds are from 2012 so they're L??)
H stands for the month - 11 or Nov (ICS builds have now been following this, though - e.g. LPQ, LP3, ...)
1 is an incremental number for multiple builds in the same month (also, sometimes letters are used)
Thanks.
So with these in mind for my phone:
PDA: I9100XWKH1
PHONE: I9100XXKG5
CSC: I9100XEUKH1
PDA - shows I am using Android version 2.3.4
PHONE - shows I have a phone designed to be used in the UK (XXKG5)??
CSC - shows I have an unbranded european phone??
Is that correct?
So if I upgrade my firmware to a stock UK one then all that would change above is PDA??
But if I upgraded to the Polish version of ICS how would that affect what *#1234#?
corype use
As far as i understand, installing any stock version minded for an EU phone should be the same. All they change is the language, however english should be present always.
I've got the same ROM images, and although I believe the XEU ICS has been released by Sammy yesterday, I'm (still) getting the "Your device does not support firmware upgrade" message from KIES.
I've done a hard reset of the phone, re-installed KIES with the latest version ( repeated on two PCs )...
Is there something funny about these ROM images?
Bought from Phones4U as an O2 Upgrade.
If I have to zap it using Odin, is there a way to save the existing ROM images?

Looking for stock rom Claro Ecuador

Hello,
I'm looking for this stock rom :
Country/Provider: Ecuador - Claro
PDA: I9100UHKG7
CSC: I9100ECOKG1
Phone: I9100UHKG4
Version: Android 2.6.35.7 Gingerbread
PCODE: GTI9100LKLECO
HIDSWVER: I9100UHKG7/I9100ECOKG1/I9100UHKG4/I9100UHKG7
kernel version [email protected] #2
I have tried in several places including samfirmware.com with no luck.
According to CheckFus downloader and http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100 there isn't an official ROM for Ecuador at the moment.
You can try a ROM for Chile (Claro) or Brazil (Claro or unbranded). Actually, you can try any ROM for samsung-updates.com (as long as it's for GT-I9100) because they'll all work with your phone and they all contain Spanish. As for Phone versions, they European ROMs are much better than the Latin American ROMs.
I am from Brazil (Claro) and I am using an European ROM (Nordic Countries, unbranded). It works flawlessly. Using Odin you can have it up and running in less than 3 minutes.
Hi Simonetti2011,
Well, my S2 came with that firmware preinstalled so I'm guessing it is another official firmware (probably from Claro Jamaica) modified for my country and carrier.
I'm using the Australian (UNBRANDED) XWLP8 (ics 4.0.3) without issues as well.
However in the event I want to sell it, I'd hope I could go back to the originial stock firmware.
I did take the precaution of doing a Nandroid backup, but I have read problems of restoring them. The safest way would be to flash the stock rom back.
So, thanks anyway, if you or anyone else gets your hand in that stock firmware, please do share.
EDIT: After your post, I decided to give it another try and find the firmware with CheckFus, but using the Advanced tab. Well, after entering the necessary data, IT FOUND the firmware! GT-I9100_ECO_1_20111005162240.zip (302MB). I confirmed it as well at http://fus.nanzen.se/, by entering the following data:
Model: GT-I9100
Product Code: GTI9100LKLECO
HIDSWVER: I9100UHKG7/I9100ECOKG1/I9100UHKG4/I9100UHKG7
So, now I have it, the original firmware for Ecuador, Claro carrier.

Hi there. I just took a look at the firmware you flashed and seen the problem straight away.
I9300XXBLH1 Download (Thanks To SamMobile!)
Base Firmware: I9300XXBLH1 (4.0.4)
Region Europe
Country: Nordic Countries
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 31 July 2012
Modem: XXLH1
CSC: NEEBLH1
Change List: 928452
Notice above that the region says Europe. And for it to work on Indian Networks it needs to be an Indian Unbranded firmware.
So the reason it because of the Region you downloaded was not the one needed.
I would advice either going back to the firmware you had before, or finding an Indian Official Firmware mate.
Hope this has helped

Don't panic I have been there and done that.
You should be able to not enter a code and still use the phone offline. If you can do that you should be able to access the functions and see if the ROM is rooted, if it isn't grab yourself a copy of the toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488 and use it to root the ROM. Once you have done that you will be able to access root functionality and allow you to run applications such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846451&highlight=voodoo
Good luck ROM warrior. hopefully you will unlock your device and join us in the promised land.
Personally I got fed up of that shift a while ago so i started buying unbranded phones.

Hi ..Just to let you know that is not true.... I live in Zimbabwe (Southern Africa) were the firmware is XEF.... I am using BTU british firmware in Africa without any problem and getting british updates. I know a lot of people who use all sorts of different country versions in their country... As long as your rom version matches your csc it will be fine. If it doesnt then one can manually change the csc and get official updates of the new firmware version.
Cheers
