Does anyone know a way I can change the artist name and album names on my songs sooooo that they show up in the right spots?
I have songs that I got from download sites and just want to make them all show up under the correct artist.
I will try to explain better if that was confusing.
Any ideas?
Even if I have to hook up toa computer what program would I use to rename them?
You probably just need to edit their tags. There are various free mp3 tag editors that you can use in Windows. Also, a lot of media players have built in support for it. I don't know which one to tell you to use but I use Media Monkey. WinAmp may have the ability to do it too, I don't really know as I haven't used it for years.
Also, if you are using Windows 7, you can just right click on the file>properties, click the details tab and edit them there. You can do more than one at a time this way by clicking on the first file you want so it's highlighted, then, while holding the shift key, click on the last one you want. The first, last and everything in between will become highlighted. Then just right click on one of them and choose properties, then details. Edit it and the changes should be applied to all of those that you selected.
Perhaps XP has the same ability. I don't really remember as it's been a while since I've used it. I can fire up a VM and check it out though if you'd like. Or, if you have XP, just have a look and see for yourself.

Thanks bro
I'm gonna try media monkey later.
I had tried to do what you mentioned , couple nights ago, but I could only edit song name with that method. No other details could be changed.
And I am using a laptop (borrowed) that has Vista lol
I'll try those programs you mentioned when I get home from movies tonight...thanks again
Edit......If anyone knows a way I can do it directly from my phone let me know please
I did a search for mp3 tag editor in the market and there's a lot of them available. I have no idea which one would be the one to use though. I've never used one on Android so I don't know if it's a one song at a time thing or of you can find one that supports batch editing. You might have a look. Maybe there's something there you can use.
As for Vista, well, I'm surprised you can't do the same as in Win 7. You're probably right though. The only experience I have with Vista is when I ran the beta MS released and when I've worked on other peoples computers. Didn't like the beta so I didn't really explore it all that much. Went straight from XP to Win 7.
I have used a program called iTag from the market before to edit individual songs. It works fine if you only have a few songs here or there that you want to edit.
I haven't really found anything worth the time if I have to do a lot of editing though. If you have 20+ songs, it is easier to use something like Media Monkey.

3 Players now that work with the external screen:
WMP, Pocket Player, and HTC Audio Manager!
For HTC Audio Manager, go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313550
Take the contents of the "AudioManager" Folder and extract them all to your /windows/ directory (NOT just the folder, the files inside the folder need to be take out and put in the windows directory).
Using a registry explorer, go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\SecondaryDsp
There should already be a registry entry there called "AudioManager", if it's there, set it to "1".
If it's not there, create it and set it to one (I can't say for sure if it'll work or not though).
Restart your phone, and voila! A new, working MediaPlayer!
In the original topic, rickwyatt says "put in on your storage card".
As I have just 4MB storage left, I want to put it on my storage card. Is it possible?
Also, what advantage over WMP does HTC AM have?
yes it is possible to install on storage/storage card, cab-installer made by me is available here:
http://ren.redsys.ru/_private/HTC.Audio.Manager.WCE.BY.cab
But you need to copy all these files to \Windows\ directory to make it on external screen
It seems Audio Manager files should be extracted to \windows, if the external music keys need to work with it. Also the 'AudioManager' registry value is not found by default, so create it as a new DWORD value and assign it with '1'.
Yet I don't see any value this Audio Manager brings over on top of WMP, though it has a nice ipod like interface and supports playlists. Anyone found anything interesting about this new AM?
oh hell no dont intall this program, its not worth it.
Very diffcult to add playlist you have to add files one at a time
I was hoping an equalizer but does not have one
Im struggling to remove and set the buttons back to for WM player.
Damn stupid fucl<ing program

Nothing from AudioManager should have overwritten anything else.
Therefore, go to your \windows\ directory and look at the files in the zip archive. There you can see exactly which files to delete. To get the buttons back, go back to the HKLM\Software\HTC\SecondaryDsp\AudioManager and set the value to '0' instead of '1'.
As for advantages, just looks nice imho. I didn't really play with it yet.
Thanks ladies.
I installed and it worked. However I do NOT se any advantage over the WMP. This only looks cool because "dude, it's a HTC soft, dude". I'll stick with my WMP and occasionaly Pocket Player. No need for this

'tis true.
I'm going to play around with it more and if it seems faster or more stable than WMP I'll use it. Otherwise, I'll probably ditch it too.
I love PocketPlayer, but the external display plugin is so slow and just seems terribly unstable.

Yup, PP is very unstable and the plugin makes the whole phone really damn slow.
In the other hand, WMP is quite fast for me. ANd I never experienced even one single crash with it (except using Oxios memory tools before). Only the way of opening files in WMP pis*es me off.
After a day of playing around, I've decided I don't like either WMP or AudioManager...lol
Not sure which I'll be sticking with yet....

well WM6 does support external screen already. So lets hope for it, coz then we can use any player we want and with small update it should display also informations on the external screen. But guess it's still a looong way

Oh. Check with the HTC website for your region or whatever branding is on your phone, their site.
The 4.x ROMs are for USA (not sure if EUR has them yet), but can be downloaded from here:
http://www.america.htc.com/support/3125/software-downloads.html
Note, however, that you may need to unlock your device completely (including CID) before installing a ROM from a different region. Instructions are on this forum.

Hi,
Just a couple of questions to ask.
Fist of all I did install HTC`s audio manager and its no different from the wmplayer. Only better at fast forwarding . Since the external display shows exactly the same things with both the players, I assume it is some kind of seperate driver, that "interconnects" with other software. Who ever wrote that piece of code that controlls the play/prev/next buttons , should be executed for stupidity... Was it SO difficult to add a fast forward ability omg. Does anyone know how to add such a function?
Also, one more thing I have installed PocketPlayer, but I cannot find anything concerning the external display thing... I cannot find any plugins, or options. Can someone please enlighten me?
I absolutely love this phone, (and since it cost me 170 euros...) but I wish I fast forward the player with out having to open the phone...
Thanks
For PocketPlayer you want the WM_Host plugin version 2.0. Once you copy the DLLs to the PP directory, you need to open PP and the Plugin controls panel then configure the plugin. FastForward should be supported in PP.
Thanks so much... I did what you said, I enabled the plugin, but still, no fast forward. Dunno maybe its just a crappy wmp plugin in the first place...
Hmm, you're right. I never really needed it though so I guess that's why I never noticed...
Post what you want on the Conduits forums. They're usually pretty good with filling feature requests. I bugged them about getting support for the External Screen on the StrTrk for a couple months and even though they said it seemed impossible, they finally got it
Update 5/26/10The screen on my winmo phone broke about 2 weeks ago, and since then also one of the buttons on the front came off. I wasn't sure I wanted to continue with Windows Mobile considering their lack of support for older versions in Windows 7 phone, so I got an Android phone, a used G1. I'm not sure I'll continue to develop for Winmo.
So far I'm very impressed with what I see from the G1, but of course there are some apps missing, so my first priority will probably be to get some of my Winmo programs ported to Android. Sorry
This is a program to organize todo's/tasks in a treeview form.
It's a mobile version of the ToDoList program found at http://www.codeproject.com/KB/applications/todolist2.aspx
and http://www.abstractspoon.com/index.htm
Features:
Views based on grouping by date, folder etc.
Filter out completed task
Items can be Flagged so they stand out
Have priority and risk attached
Can be recurring
Can be exported to Pocket outlook
Can have status and categories
Can have completion percentage
Can have estimated time attached
++
If the list files are kept in the My Documents folder, they will be synchronized between the desktop and the mobile version.
In order to add categories and status options, you enter settings from the file menu. There you can also set whether you want to show the details or the comments (notes) for the item.
If the field is too short, it can be adjusted by dragging the divider line between the field and the list.
There is a shortcut toolbar that can be shown by clicking on the ^, next to Filter on the toolbar.
To edit an item, tap and hold to get the menu.
This is still being developed as a hobby, and is not a final version (in particular "filter", "group by" and list view need more work). It is being developed as I see fit, have time and am interested in doing it. THERE IS NO WARRANTY THAT THIS PROGRAM WILL WORK ON YOUR Pocket PC / Mobile phone. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE IT MAY CAUSE.
That being said, it seems to be quite stable on my HTC T-Mobile Wing, Mobile 6.1 and an old Dell Axim, Pocket PC 2003.
I have used it for a couple of years and maybe someone else finds it useful.
This program was developed based on the source code found on http://sourceforge.net/projects/tdl-wm5/
Since the original desktop version of this program is constantly being developed, some of the features available on the desktop might not work on the Pocket PC version.
Installation:
After unzipping the files, copy the "TdlToDo" directory to "\My Documents" on your Pocket PC.
The program file itself, "ToDoList.exe", can be anywhere on your Phone/Pocket PC (on a storage card if you want).
Uninstall:
Delete the "TdlToDo" dirctory in "\My Documents".
Delete "ToDoList.exe"
Delete "ToDoList" directory under "\Application Data" directory.
thx pal this is awesome.
throw in a Finger Friendly interface and then we have a great app...

Fair comment although I have actually been working on a large button menu and the ability to focus the task list on a particular task also I was working on syncronisation with outlook appointments, not just export. I could really do with doing another release and updating the homepage as there have been several changes since it was last done.

Sorry, but I didn't mean my criticize.
As for large button menu, do you mean to make it more finger friendly like the commenter above was asking?
And synchronizing could be a good idea. So would you then be able to turn it on or off, considering you don't want all the lists/items synchronized? Synchronize individual tasks? Based on categories?
I haven't looked at the code in a long, long time, so if I release it, I need to clean it up a bit.

bear in mind the menu is still in private testing(although in full use)
the outlook integration has not been fully implemented yet and was a few months ago since I have done any work on it, although it was creating new appointments and updating them both ways on the mobile device,
IIRC the appointments transfer correctly to desktop outlook although there is no support in Dan.g's desktop todolist

the source I started with is using xmlreaders and writers although I am currently in the process of converting the whole thing to XMLDOC as I find it more straightforward to work with.

Support for hgtdlToDo
I just found this program, and WOW!
I have been using happyjackroad IdeaLibrary, which while a great program is "abandonware" and hasn't been updated in years. It also doesn't have any meaningful desktop support. So I recently went looking for a useful hierarchical list manager, with sync to desktop, and freeware versions for both PPC and PC. Print would be a plus as well. ToDoList fits the bill!
There are at least two ports from the PC to the PPC, and this one looks really good. I've been using it for a couple of days, and like it.
Three questions:
* It is at version .1 -- while the product is stable, that indicates to me that there have been exactly one public version, and it's not even a "final" version. While it be developed more?
* Is there a forum where it is discussed? This thread on XDA-Developers is about the only thing that Google found. It'd be great to find a forum.
* And, the reason I'm here. I installed it, and it works well. However, it will only open the last file saved (basically, auto-open on start). I can't get ANY files to show in the file open screen. Any thoughts? It's a HP HX2490b flashed to a custom WM 6.1 Classic ROM.
Thanks -- and keep it up!

It's working well for me, but I'm open to suggestions. However, there aren't many comments on the usability, so I assumed that people are either happy with the program as it is, or they downloaded it to try, but are not using it.

Yes, I'm not happy with the file manager part. This is how it was originally (not my code). So when you open up the program and you want another file, the program should go back to the program's file manager. There you have to add the tdl files, that you want the program to open. So are you saying that when you click file, and close that it doesn't go to the filemanager, or that you can only see one file there?
Thanks -- and keep it up!

Without comments, I haven't been inspired to work on the program, but let me know what you think, and maybe I'll do something again.
Sorry, I dropped my post and ran! But I'm back.
I don't have any real comments on the usability, so your reasons for not updating seem fair enough. I'm learning more, and it is making more sense. Actually, I'm using the desktop version VERY heavily, and printing out hardcopy lists, and so the PPC version is becoming more of a handy reference for when I don't happen to have my list. Still, very helpful.
But with regard to the file manager, I figured it out, and it works fine. The file manager is not simply a list of compatible files, it is a list of "added" files. Once I realized that I have to "add" a file before I can see it, it works just fine.
Thanks for the response. And now that I've found you, I'll send you feedback if I come up with any.
Thanks for the program. I am a rabid WinCE user (that tells you how long I've been one -- 1998 was my first in black and white), and a key element of program selection for me is compatible desktop applications.

Hi.
I always had windows mobile devices in the past, and like you must know, the old good windows mobile no longer exist... Microsoft killed it.
So I switched to Android. I really like android, The way it works is pretty the same than windows mobile with file browser, files system(Not like the Iphone without any way to deal with a file at all), .APK install like the .CAB on WM...
One think that I loved on WM is how easy it was to make shortcut by yourself, even with parameters. As example, it was easy to create a shortcut to Coreplayer to play an HTTP stream when simply clicking on it.
Like: "coreplayer.exe my_teststreamDOTcom : portNumber"
I searched a lot over internet and forums all over there, and I can't see any solution like this on android.
I'm pretty sure that you can do it with some application like ANYCUT or BETTERCUT or also "MANUAL INTENT SHORTCUT" But I have not find any documentation or example to how to do this.
Any of you having the same problem or found a method to do this?
Thanks!!
Cedric

Anyone owns a Mac and the Xperia S?
My experience with the phone (firmware .73) and my Mac (OS X 10.7.3 Lion) is particularly bad:
Unable to perform drag and drop media transfer like previous Android devices.
The Official Mac Bridge is very buggy (Even on latest update ver2.1), will stuck when transferring lots of file, and does not work with lossless music
Unable to perform USB tethering
Don't get me wrong, the phone itself is great, but I just don't understand why it works bad on a Mac.
Please share your experience and possible fix, if any.

I suspect a very high proportion of Mac users would choose an iPhone so the number of S users on OSX would be very small.

Mac bridge seems to work ok on other media files just not mp3's.

it's very funny, it's like they gave 0 support to mac users for this... very disappointing.
OK. So apparently Sony DID try to fix some bugs in the Mac Bridge.
Ver. 2.1 (current) added more options on the Mac Bridge, and it seems the playlist problem works better. Although OS X's Image Capture will not read the device, there's now a direct import photo to folder in the latest version of Mac Bridge.
I am still unable put my entire playlist into the phone though, as the Mac Bridge hangs again when it has transferred about 80% of my songs. I also don't seem to find a workable wired solution for drag-drop file transfer.
Finally, was anyone able to perform backup through the Mac Bridge?
I tried two times and every step return "Failed".
Come on Sony... :-(

I thought for awhile that Sony Bridge hangs when transferring songs, but it works for me. Give it a little patience
The problem i have though is that when a new song is added to the playlist and Sony Bridge detects it and sync it to the phone, the phone itself doesnt update the playlist but will have the new songs added.
I was able to perform backup through MacBridge but it seems like it uses a lot of the Macs resources when doing this.
Mac users are always eternally complaining about one thing or another.
I work for a hardware and software rental company and we only ever get Mac users calling in with issues.
I don't understand you guys, you buy an inferior platform that struggles to deal with a computing ecosystem that was built around windows.
I hope making the switch from IOS to Android will reveal something to you Apple fan. The simple truth they make very basic devices which only work well if you stay within the jurisdiction of Apple.
Next time get a flipping PC like 98% of the flipping world.
Stop using a minority device and wonder why developers don't spend enough optimizing their kit for this deluded minority.

Right, just because I complain about *SONY*'s software makes me another mac complain retard, huh?
To be honest, I've been on a Mac for more than a year, with no problem on both hardware and software at all, while I clearly remember my Windows 7 desktop hangs occasionally just for many basic stuff. My last Android device works great with my Mac too, so it's not a Mac problem in any sense.
I don't really want to argue with you about OS (it's pointless) here, but please let me remind you that this is a Mac discussion/support thread, if you have nothing useful to say, just leave, no one force you to reply.

I'd rather have a platform that hangs occasionally than one that throws up issues and doesn't work at all with a lot of stuff. If you haven't had any issues with your Mac, that's probably because you've so far stuck to basic computing.
Like I said, Macs regularly throw up issues connecting to third party hardware and I know because I spend many hours each week dealing with these problems.
There is absolutely nothing you can say to change this opinion.

I had been using Double Twist with my other Android devices but found that the Sony didn't always show up in the menu, so I started to use Isyncr. It works well enough but some songs for some unknown reason won't make it through. I had to remove some songs from my playlist that were causing this and then it was ok. But Double Twist does not see these playlists now so I have to use the built-in app, Rocket player, or PowerAmp. I just use the stock music app now.
As for file access, I happen to be running Parallels, and therefore I can mount the phone on my mac, and as my Windows Desktop can "see" my Mac disk, it's very easy to access the phone. But I agree, it's stupid to have to do this.
The Sony Bridge was goofy for me - I would see for example a duplicate Music folder and music folder (note the case difference) and one folder was spawning duplicates. Deleted one and the other disappeared too! Who knows was weirdness was happening. So I didn't use it. As for photos, I just copy manually; forget syncing to iPhoto, but that's how I always did it for all my other devices.

Hey guys... I am looking for an app for my Galaxy Tab 10.1 that I can use to build a set list for sheet music. I have friends that do this on ipads but haven't come across anything for Android tabs. All my sheet music are scanned or created PDF documents so really I just need an app that I can build a "playlist" of sorts from a database or a folder full of PDFs. It would be nice if this app indexed the PDFs so it would be easier to find the songs that I am looking for. In the end, I want to be able to flip from PDF to the next PDF within the app in the order that I setup.
Any suggestions?
Maybe just use a file manager like Astro?

I have that but it doesn't give me what I need. I need to preset the playlist of PDF files and then easily click through them as I move from one song to the next. With Astro, it would take way too long between songs to find the right PDF file and open it between songs.
Have you tried Planning Center Online? I haven't used it from the leader's perspective, but it works well from the participant perspective.

I was hoping for an app I can use on my 10.1 tab.
Tell you what, I'm going on vacation tomorrow, and if you haven't found an app by the time I'm back,(end of this month) I'll build you one.

Just prefix the pdfs with its number in the set list, and then just use and regular file manager to open the pdfs in order.
01-Stairway to heaven.pdf
02-ice ice baby.pdf
Etc.

Try adobe reader, and click "home", you will be able to see your docs order how you want it.
Astro, Adobe Reader and all these other suggestions are great for finding a file and opening it but I really need something like I said... a reader that can create a "set list" or a playlist or sorts. I have almost 1000 pdf files. It just wouldn't work no matter how you sort them to be able to switch from one song to the next quickly during a concert. I need something that I can add the 5 or so songs to a list and just be able to click "next song" or something like that when I am ready to go to the next pdf.
I don't think i have come across anything that would do that on Android as far as being able to create a file list to go through. The closest thing i can think of is to use perfect viewer with its pdf plugin but with that you would have to do your own file management externally by placing your set of files in a folder and naming them sequentially with number prefixes. Once you do that though perfect viewer will let you cycle through the pages as if the set of files were pages in an ebook.
