Hi,
I have a very strange and annoying problem, hope you'll can help me.
When I turn on WiFi/tethering everything's okay, but after I turn them off my phone becomes laggy and reboot it it's the only way to fix that.
It happened with every ROM and every kernel I've used.
Why does it happen? Anyone else have/had this problem? Is there any way to fix it? It is really annoying to reboot after every WiFi or tethering use, and I don't want to leave it on because of the battery.
Thanks and sorry for any mistake in my English.

Maybe the reason is cuz some apps/services can't connect to the internet
Try factory reset from xRecovery
Did it now, still the same.

It's probably because tethering uses much CPU power and some services are shut down by the system and after you turn off tethering, they are restarted.

It happens after disconnecting a simple WiFi connection too, not only tethering.
I really don't understand this. It has never happened to me with other phones that I had in the past and I can't realize what's different now.

Anybody have their SGS2 disconnect the Wifi randomly, even when the phone is under active usage (no internet usage though). My Wifi sleep policy is set to never so it shouldn't be the culprit although it seems like the case.
Anybody encountered similar problem? Or is it due to an app of mine or I got a faulty set?
Never.

Hmm I suspect it has got to do with my apps or something but I just couldn't single out the culprit.
Mine has done that since I got it two months ago. It stayed that way through four stock firmwares and all of the Lite'ning Roms. I typically have to reset it to get it working...

I noticed that Wifi Sharing is taking up the biggest portion of my battery life and I suspect it is the cause of my problem.. Any idea how to solve it?
Ooh dude, so many threats about it! Use Bloat Freezer or Titanium Backup to 'freeze' Wifi Sharing. This disables your phone from detecting and launching the program until you want to 'unfreeze' it again.
It's a way to actually turn off applications.

Wifi randomly disconnecting. For me, turning it off and then back on again fixes it, but only for a little while. It's an issue I've had since the phone was new, despite trying four different factory firmwares and 5 custom roms.
The wifi sharing bug is a different issue but you will need to root your phone to fix that. No root, no fix. I suspect the official 2.3.4, when it's released, will have a fix for that though.

Thanks. But it's weird that I can hardly find anybody else sharing the same bug except for you. I suspect it may be related to some apps or we got a bad batch..
There are actually quite a few, but most don't start a new thread to try and report it. I've seen several threads discussing it and it's also mentioned in a few of the custom rom threads in the development section.
I'm going to start trying different modems and see if that fixes it...

I'm having the same problem here. I've tried 3 stock firmwares including the new 2.3.4 firmware. Like the other guy says, you can fix it by turning wifi off and on again. I'd still like a proper fix though.
Yup, happens to me as well since day 1. Incredibly annoying. Especially if you plan on leaving your phone overnight with WiFi on, absolutely no data gets transferred. :-|
Here's another thread describing the same issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098614.

I had this problem with my nexus s, being a network engineer it seemed to me to be like a dhcp problem, I went to my router and low and behold my phone had been given about 20 IP addresses. I gave it a static address of 192.168.1.5 correlating to its Mac address (subnet dependent of course), and it worked fine after that... Give it a try guys I think it's a router compatibility problem, or just gremlins in the tube

If I access the wireless client list on my router it only lists one address per device. Unfortunately I only have the one router, no access to a spare, so can't test it on another router...
I had originally set the router to G only (first attempt to fix issue), but have now set it back to mixed. Maybe under the different modem the N will work better? Stab in the dark...

Try giving it a static address to see if it solves the issue. Are you still connceted to the router when the data stops transmitting, or do you lose the icon at the top and disconnect completely?

Well, about that... I'm now running Lite'ning Rom v2.0 with KG1_CF-Root_CWM_kernel_by_sorg (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15541364&postcount=1118).
I have also changed my router from g back to mixed (b/g/n).
My problem seems to have gone away now. I'll wait and see what happens, but will try your suggestions if it comes back.
When I was having issues, the wifi icon at the top was still there and also showed that I was connected. My mobile data connection was not active. Everything seemed to indicate that I was connected to wifi, yet when I tried to connect to market, RSS feeds or the XDA app it said that there was no connection.

So it seems like its flash related...
With sammy devices i see more and more weird unexplained bad flashes, where things dont work at all until you reflash again, very weird
Glad it works now dude
with the new ICS coming just around the corner, I have tried to do so research on it, but still do not know a couple of things, is it smoother, and there seem to be a wifi issue, sometimes I have to keep manually connecting to the wifi after unlocking the screen, will that still be an issue. I think for me that was one of the big issues sothey must have fixed it with the ICS update.
Wifi has not been resolved. I am fine when not hibernating but even with it set to stay on it always disconnects when the screen goes off or in the cradle. Sucks but nothing I lose sleep over.

The wifi issue is easily solved by downloading "Advanced Wifi Lock" from the market. Just install that and it's instantly fixed!
Worked! Yay, thank you.

Issue hasn't been resolved YET. ICS has not been released and as far as I am aware 3.2.1r2 was the last update issued anywhere and the WiFi issue was only just starting to become apparent when that was pushed out. Give Sony a chance to work it out.
I was watching qvc this morning and they are selling a coby tablet that has ICS on it. Lol
I wish we can get it already.
The tablet s I bought here has no issue with the wifi problem mentioned.
Most of the times, I don't have that problem, but I think it's just the reconnection that is fast enough to not bother me.

Hmm I thought this was normal and always the case. Mine connects quick in half a second or a second.
But the issue if its even called an issue, the feutre I would like is when Im downloading something the needs the internet I would like for it to keep the internet connection active/on while it goes into standby mode where the screen goes black on its own depending how many minutes if you have the timer for, or if you manualyy put it in lock mode by hitting the power button one time.
I thought this was what everyone was complaining about?........

Ok, I don't do that on the tablet, only small downloads, so I never had that problem, but if even with active transfer of data the connection is dropped, than it's really an annoying bug

Which firmware version are you on then?? Mine is THMAS0032400.
Here I am again, and mine also have the "never disconnect wifi" option selected and works ok. I put a big file copying from my lan, then the tab entered in the standby mode, and after a while I checked again and the file was copied, so no connection dropped in my case. And I also remembered that even in standby I hear the new emails notification and the green light starts blinking also, so no drops here.
Mine has THMAS0112400, 3.2.1 r2, kernel 2.6.36.3, Portuguese edition.

Since a couple of weeks automodus gets activated by itself. I keep getting this annoying popup one after another.
I tried different roms and firmwares, however, nothing worked. After a few days it shows up.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue or how to delete automodus?
Thanks in advance!

Well according to the various topics I found using search (which you should have used) its related to the USB port been dirty or faulty.
Automods Lol...
Anyways you should try cleaning the charging port with petrol and toothbrush...
Remove the battery before cleaning

So I've been searching around for some sort of solution, or even someone having the same thing happen to them as me, but I haven't found anything.
Whenever the phone is either plugged in, unplugged, or a phone call is answered, my phone disables automatic brightness. I wanna know if this happens to anyone else and if there is a way to get it to not disable, thanks.
Bump

Lucky you, it bugs the hell out of me.
Can anyone help me to solve my problem
i charge my phone at night but i found it turn off itself
i am using CM 10.1.3 rc2.
Backup your apps, contacts, sms/mms, call log, watsapp and perform factory reset. Afterwards do not restore the backed up apps and see if this happens again.
If it won't shut off at night, restore apps+data.
BTW, I'm currently running the RC2 without major issues.
Oh noes !!!
Clean install of stock, see if the problem persists. If it does, new battery first, change USB board/port if a new battery doesn't fix the problem. But I'd be surprised if it wasn't a 'CM problem', I've always found CM buggy as hell personally (even the 'stable' releases).
