I am about to update my sister phone 2.1 to 2.2 but decide to just root it and flash a custom rom. What would be the best stable rom for it? She really just needs GPS working. Thanks
All the 2.2 roms pretty much the same stability-wise. It will just be a matter of personal preference to be honest. I like ZenDroid.
Bionix 1.3.1 with overstock kernel

Hey Guys,
This is after long time I've decided to upgrade my T-mobile Vibrant again and would like to know which are the best ROMs I should opt?
I am currently running on Nero v5:
Firmware: 2.2
Baseband version: T959UVKA5
KERNEL: 2.6.32.9
Need you recommendations?
Thank you,
Nikhil
Give trigger 3.2 a try. Its very stable and everything works.
They're all good. Personnel preference really.
Try Jillete's SGS II Clone, its very beautiful and I'm running it with Bullet kernel, which can be found at EDT forums.

Any feedback about "Simply Honey 3.5 Revolution"?
Bi-Winning v2 best of the best IMO.

CM7 very stable
I'm a BIG fan of MALICE. Fastest speeds and best battery life for me to date. It's one of the few ROMs I find myself going back to. Plus its theme styling is my cup of tea. Of course I'm a flash addict/whore (aren't we all) and currently I'm running the latest TW release with no complaints. Listen to the masses and check them all out(you know you wanna). Good luck!
cm7 works awesome, but you have to keep in mind that gps is currently not working. everything else works great.
I had been running trigger 3.3 for a while now. Decided to try a something else. Flashed V and I really like it. I was wondering what kernels my fellow V brethren are using. Also anybody running ECOTOX's kernel? I lurk thru his thread and the guy seems really nice. Anybody have any experience with his kernel?
I stay pretty basic. Running Bali 1.8.7UV.
I run ECOTOX's DragonMODz ULP kernel for every 2.2 or 2.2.1 ROM I use. It's really great. I tend to get around two days on a charge.
Running Bali 1.8.7 un capped

How smooth would you guys say those kernels are?
Trigger 3.3
Bali uv is the way to roll

using Bali 1.8.7 uncapped - great battery life and performance.
Bali 1.8.7 uncapped. It does what it should do, and does it well.
All phones/users are different. experiment.
I'm using Immortality Kernel. It is very smooth and fast with this Kernel.

Hi I just got a free used vibrant. I'm gonna use it as a back up phone. My primary is a Galaxy S 4G, running ICBINB. It's extremely smooth and stable with great battery life. I'm hoping someone can suggest a ROM for the Galaxy S Vibrant that's considered extremely stable and smooth with great battery life. I'm not really concerned about quadrant scores, just want stability and smoothness with lagfix like my 4G running ICBINB. Thanks.
Try project v with bali kernal

Try ZenDroid. Very fast and stable with excellent battery life.

Lol this is a spamfest but...CM7. End of story.
And the Vibrant is actually a better device (with much more ROM/dev support) than your GalaxyS 4G unless you are concerned about the data network.
Bi-winng V3, zero issues, very fast and stable. Kernel has overclock ability. Dev is super nice guy and it has great support.
Almost all the froyo roms are perfectly stable and fast with great batt life... gingerbread isnt incredibly stable but its FAST and cm7 is great but youll have to deal with lack of gps and batt drain, so i suggesr froyo roms like bionix 1.3.1 or project v5

Anyone suggesting Gingerbread is leading you astray per your criteria.
Honestly, Trigger (2.2.. not the one based on CM7) would be my suggestion, or Project-V.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I will definitely go with one of the froyo roms, Thanks again!
I also used project v with bali kernal and was very happy.
Currently running GingerZen_RC3. I am having some issues with the GPS, but I'm will ing to make that sacrifice. No other issues at all with GingerZen.
vibrant 3g>gs4g

how is that rom?
GingerZen is pretty nice, but Dev On Hold until a JVR kernel is out
Can someone confirm a working gps on revamped, project v, or trigger 2.3?

Hey, it's been awhile since i've been on here. Still running nero 5.
What are the best roms out there right now?
Sent from Samsung Vibrant rooted with Nero V5
there are a lot of good roms here, as always is just a matter of taste. if you like stock android there are cyanogenmod roms which are all good, and some more are based on cyanogemod. but if you are like me and dont want stock like android, go for MIUI. you can also try a few of them. hope i helped.
I'll look into MIUI.
In your opinion what would be the best as far as upgraded speed and performance?

Bionix is the ROM after Nero V5

Alright, I love team whiskey. I'm leaning towards Bionix 1.3.1. What is a good recommendation for a powerful and fast kernel?
Sent from Samsung Vibrant rooted with Nero V5
Give bi winning V3 a try. Comes with bullet kernel that you can over clock if you want. Its the smoothest rom I've ever used. Zero issues.

go through them and see what you think
none of us can say whats best because you might think different
Is bionix 1.3.1 with overstock 1'3 any good?
That's what I'm leading towards, if you use that could you tell me what you think?
Sent from Samsung Vibrant rooted with Nero V5
I am using Simply Honey 5.1 Revolution Beta. I like it
CM7 for pure vanilla FTW
I am on bionix 1.3.1 using Super Dragon MoDz right now, I used overstock for it a while back and it ran like butter. That would be a solid upgrade.
Toxic8 with Supercharger v6.
Nothing and i mean absolutely nothing comes even close...
Alright bionix it is.
It's been awhile so bare with me.
Odin back to stock, then flash bionix, then overstock. Right?
Or can I just flash right over the top of nero 5?

Simply Honey 5.1 w/ 1.2 Bullet kernel. Badass Rom \m/
I used to have bionix + bali kernel. When I missed a charge for a day it was no problem since i could easily go 2 days without a charge. Now I switched to Simply Honey v5. I have to charge twice a day or it just dies at nite leaving me without an alarm. The battery life is 3-4x less compared to my old setup.
GPS, compass, accel., ambient light sensors dont work properly. I gave up on GPS and turn it off. It doesnt work and if by mistake i tried to use it, it keeps running and sucks the battery in no time. The working GPS claim in OP is untrue.
And Simply Honey (and I think all other GB ROMs) wipe everything in the phone! Backup to your PC!
I wouldnt go with a GB ROM at this time if I knew there were so many issues.
Gingerzen! Only stable gingerbread rom I've ever used and the battery lasts all day for me (I wake up at 5)

Toxic 8 with V6 super scripts and immortality 2.2 kernal is by far the best combo i've had on my vibrant. Speed and batter life are incredible and outperform any other ROM i've tried on here.
I tried GB but couldn't take the issues with GPS, compass, speed, battery.
Running Bionix 1.3.1 with Bali 1.8.8 kernel and loving it! Consistently fast and great battery.
2.3 roms have some minor issues .....so 2.2 is best!
Im on trigger. And liking it
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I might try one of those then, I did bionix 1.3 with overstock 1.3.
I like everything about it, except the battery life is definitely worse than my nero 5 was.
And I did the same to my wifes vibrant and she can't seem to get the defalt launcher to stay the same, it's always switching.

What is the best kernal for this version of CM7? I followed a tutorial on YouTube which used an Overstock kernal, but I'm not sure if that one is the best in terms of battery performance.
Bump

Anyone? I heard Bali is good.
There are 5 kernel available for CM also MIUI. (AFAIK)
1.Glith v13
2.EB7-Streamline
3.Neo 18 + Neo XX.1
4.99 Problemz
5.Bali-CM 2.2.2
And currently I'm using EB7-Streamline.
glitch works very well. the problem i had with bali and 99 problems was that no one could hear me when i put them on speaker phone. glitch v13 on medium leakage was great for me on miui and cm7
Glitch v13

Bali is good, but the developer no longer has a vibrant and so it is no longer updated. So I would have to say glitch v13 is the way to go. Super smooth and battery seems better then bali
Sent from my SGH-T959 (Samsung Vibrant)
I guess I'll try out Glitch, but why does it say DEV on the file name for Vibrant? It is a beta release?
Glitch and eb7 are my faves.. i LOVED glitch but my bln wusnt working and i NEEd it to, so i ended up on eb7 which is also BEASt, with working gps, pretty good batt life and performance and plenty of features.
Glitch def wins in performance tho
