in 4.0.3. JIG not work, count 0

Don't work on

Swyped from my chainfired galaxy S II
It is ok. Anyway no one will send his device for repairs with ics.
Flash back to a stock firmware with old bootloaders and you're good to go.

Hi,
I've got a stock Bell Galaxy S2 that I would like to root to freeze some of the bloatware and sim-unlock my phone, in case I go state side sometime in the future. My PDA and Kernel do not match any downloadable ones. Is there another way to root my SGS II or am I stuck?

You can flash a custom kernel via odin. If your still totally stock you should make sure that you back up all the stock files before you flash something else. currently there is no way of going back to stock for the bell sgs ii

Wish I would have read this before I rooted it. Oh well, i'll deal with it until the Bell kernel comes back out to get rid of the triangle. So far though, it is unlocked and Bloat Freezer works amazing.
You can get rid of the triangle by using a usb jig. Turn off the phone. Plug in usb jig. Puts it into download mode. Pull out battery to tun off. Restart phone. Yellow triangle is gone.

Who mentioned a yellow triangle? I believe the discussion is about getting back to stock kernel/firmware in case you need warranty support.
EDIT: Opps, didn't realize he did mention it. pterry is right, the jig is the easiest way to get rid of it!

UGKG2:
[ROMS]Official i9100 carrier branded firmware download for Odin Flash - xda-developers
Stupid me I tried this leaked ICS 4.0.1 XXKP2 Firmware from androidadvices.com
the steps is to load these using odin:
PIT – u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
BOOTLOADER – I9100_APBOOT_I9100XXKP1_CL16459_REV02_eng_mid_ship.tar.md5,
PDA – I9100_CODE_I9100XXKP1_CL16459_REV02_eng_mid_ship.tar.md5
Phone – MODEM_I9100XXKP1_REV_02_CL1085642.tar.md5
then load this after the step above:
PDA – I9100_KERNEL_I9100XXKP1_CL16459_REV02_eng_mid_ship.tar.md5
now my phone behave like an international version.
plus the jig I bought doesn't work. Pls. help... I need to get rid of this wicked rom out of my phone.
Just flash stock firmware man. Using Odin.

I believe you will also need to flash back to the stock bootloader which you risk hard bricking your phone. Find the thread that says unbrick return to stock and read all of it before you do anything. Once you understand everything you should read it again.

close thread
Pls. go ahead close the thread. Links help me a lot. Really appreciate it guys.
The files say i9100. It's no wonder they didn't work - you need to watch out what model a firmware is for.

I did the same thing...just impatient, I guess.
I did the ODIN flash back to stock KH7 but my jig no longer worked.
There was a secondary bootloader to ODIN flash to restore jig functionality.
Currently I'm not sure what bootloader I'm running but I have been back and forth between Hellraised SGSII roms and UnNamed and SHOstock ever since.
The jig does work now and I do not have the yellow triangle flash alert or a any count in the flash counter.
However, I saw a newer SGSII CWM version this morning, flashed it, and flashed back to SHOstock after a trial. No bootloader update, no issues.
i have ics 4.0.4 on my sgs2..i want to downgrade to 2.3.6 or 2.3.5..i have flahed manually with odin the ics and now i wat to flash back to gb.. which version of gb should i get and than flash it with odin ? tell me a thread where to find the gb cuz i have searched a lot but nothing..i dont now which is gb and which is not...

i now that is 2.3.6 but which is the lateset update from 2.3.6 ?
search for XWLA4 in that thread
and download it,
stock kernel also there seperately , just download and keep no need to flash kernel,
Check samfirmware for a full list of available firmwares and versions.

Is it safe and doable to do a downgrade from ICS to GB then? I' like to reset the binary counter, don't have time for a usb jig to arrive so I thought would go ahead with the Triangle away app. Currently running on GB 2.3.5.

Why don't you flash with cwm? Then u don't have to worry about the triangle~~
Hi there,
I am using ICS 4.0.3, i have a USB JIG and i want to use it to reset the flash counter and get rid of the pesky triangle.
From what i found on the website i understand that i will have to flash the ‘old’ gingerbread bootloader to get the JIG working with ICS.
I am using this ICS rom I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XENLP3.
I have two questions
1) Will the ‘old’ gingerbread bootloader work with the above mentioned rom?
2) Were can i find the original ICS bootloader to bring my phone to its initial state in case i need to claim guarantee.
Thanks in advance for your answer
Greetz Henk
Just use triangle away app to get rid of counter and triangle on ics.

Usb jig is working with this rom GT-I9100_FOP_I9100XWLP7_I9100OXXLPH_I9100XXLPS. I want to update to dxlp9 and root with CF-Root but i can't reset the counter. On that xwlp7 the jig is working (personally tested).

You need to flash the old bootloader from odin.

Hello everyone,
For unrooting purposes If I flash a stock firmware 4.0.3 via Odin then will the flash counter increase by one? I have reset it to zero using triangle away app already and my device is rooted and on stock with that super brick bug. Also that I can flash any of the stock firmware like LPQ as long as it is developed for I9100 right? Or there any sort of regional restriction?
Thanks in advance!

ask moderator to move your Question to Q&A section bro, here is development section
You can always reset your binary counter with triangle away or USB jig.
If you are on stock firmware, you are good, because it is samusng's original.
4.0.3 keeps the brick bug away.
Firmwares are separeted by branded & unbranded, they all work on any I9100 devices. Modems, on the other hand, my not work in your country / region. You'll have to flash another one in order to get your network to work.
I am trying to find the answer to the OP.
My S2 has just been replaced after a long struggle with the supplier & Samsung so I have decided not to ever do any custom ROM flashing again.
The above replies didn't really answer the simple question: Does flashing an official ROM like the new 4.1.2 JB with Odin increase the custom rom counter on the phone.
I know this can be reset but it was trying to do that before that bricked my phone and why it had to go back for service. I don't want to do that again but if I know the custom ROM counter will not go up I'm happy to flash official JB with Odin.
My phone is CYV (Cyprus) so likely to be one of the last places to get JB via OTA or Kies.
Thanks

Custom couter stay at zero, but bootloader will by unlocked and "smart" guys in samsung service will know about flash.
@grisoxxl: I did not quite get you. You mean to say that the bootloader once unlocked remains unlocked even If you flash a stock firmware?
And one more thing. When do I need to backup that efs folder? Know about HC ktool?
