hi
apparently the xperia plays 1ghz processor has been clocked to 2ghz....
now in my streak the kernel allows a stable 1.190ghz, and for about 30 seconds I can get 1.5ghz before it reboots.
theoretically what is the dell streaks maximum if the right kernel was made?
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
It's chip dependant, the HD2 has been known to go up to 1.5ghz and it uses the same chip. But everything has to work right together at that clock for it to be stable.
From reading here and on other boards, it seems that the most streaks won't go over 1200Mhz, without getting unstable. My streak actually don't like anything above 1119Mhz.
But as TheManii said, it's different from chip to chip and so from streak to streak
Yes, the most common stable OC cap is 1119mhz, OCing depends on the entire system, mabye one of the other chips or the way it's organized on the board is the reason it cant go higher.
ok thanks for the info, I initially thought that with the right kernel, maybe the streak could match the xperias 2ghz....

I can run my streak at 1420mhz all day long no reboots or anything does drain battery tho so i put it to maximuk for gaming etc

just running dsc rom 0.64b, if you install 0.65b the highest you can go to is 1267mhz, so ill stick with 0.64 as it works fine for me, pretty responsive too

I would love to see That sexy UI of Honeycomb on my Steak 5inch. Anyone think Dell or Someone will Be able to get it working on Our Streaks? I mean it is a Tablet lol!
I wudnt be counting on dell to do it...they launched their new tablet with 2.2, not even 2.3...honeycomb seems far far away..
I'd like to see the email app migrated over - unsure about the rest to be honest.

I wasn't blown away by the 3.0 demo.
As long as my device is snappy and has ability to run the latests apps... I'm pleased.
Hopefully people will financially support DJ_Steve, and he'll keep the goodies coming.

ya Hopefully steve can at least give us the UI look cause it is for sure like or dislike but i really like the simple look of it and would love to at least see a ROM with Honeycomb look.
I also want one....

Honeycombs and Steak? Is this a tech forum or an online grocer?
I personally like the galaxy tab email app. I have it on my captivate right now, can't wait to see how it is on my streak when I get it next week

The Streak 5 hasn't got the screen size to fully utilise the OS especially the all new browser with it's built in widgets.

Android 3.0 is going to be available for all android devices, it's just up to the manufacturer to accommodate the new UI and features to the screen size. I think the Streak would be a great candidate for some UI improvements, 2.2 doesn't do it justice, even with non-stock launchers.
+1 for me.
Love to see honeycomb on Dell Streak 5.^^

+1 for HoneyComb Streak 5
Honeycomb would be amazing on the streak
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
i love the UI so much it looks cleaner then Regular Android, even the ones like Sense and Stage. Its just my opinion but i like how everything is professional with the black and greys
As long as any new firmware is snappy as 2.2, supports all the apps, I don't care what version it is.
+1
I'm just about to pull the trigger on purchasing a Dell Streak 5 and one of the major deciding factors is that it will be upgradeable to honeycomb.
... through dell or through xda... I don't care how I just want my device to be upgradeable.
So I've been wondering does keeping it oc at 1.2ghz damage anything to the phone? I've read that it can kill your device lifespan is that true? Thanks

Not exactly.
Some of the Vibrants just can't handle ANY overclocking at all, they just freeze, and reboot too much because your processor is being worked too hard when it can't do it.
If you have a normal, regular vibrant, then yeah you can such as me, i can overclock as much as i want, i've gone to 1.4 with no problems...
but some people do have the problem, and having that can burn the plastic in your phone (its happened to a few over the year)

Yep.
Mine can run at 1.4 EASY with no heating up at all (I was surprised).
I wish there was a 1.6+ kernel, so I could push this processor to the max.
To understand the limits of the Vibrant's processor it's important to understand processors in general.
The process of manufacturing for a processor is not perfect. You get pristine chips and below standard chips; so essentially no two processors are the same just like fingerprints. So what they do for quality control is stress test each one individually within a specific range. If it can handle 1Ghz up to 1.x then it passes, if it can't hit 1Ghz minimum then it's destroyed/recycled (or whatever numbers Samsung in this case felt were reasonable). It's the only way to ensure every device functions the same.
Now translate that into people's individual phone. In essence it's the luck of the draw. Did you get the perfect manufactured chip? Only way to tell is to over clock it and stress test it. Some people get the perfect one, and others get the ones that barely made the cut. It works the same for all electronics.
Hope this information helped.

Hi,
my streak re-boots every time when the CPU temperature is above 35 C. This happens when a 3d game is played for 5min or little more, using the assisted gps, emulators like FPSE, scummVM.......
The device is useless that way and I have no warranty.
If anybody with similar defective device knows how to fix this overheat issue it will be great...
I love the streak but I can't use it with this re-boots...

I have installed on my Atrix, Home Base VERSION #4 MEGA Base (B) DEBLURRED (MEGAEXT4)
After that, my phone started to heat up more. Arriving at the 80ºC processor.
The battery came in 44ºC.
Now, this 50ºC in the processor.
The normal is that?

My phone gets warm when im doing some things as well, unless its physically hurting you or melting the plastic, you should be fine
mine has gotten over 60c to the point i couldnt hold it tight for that long
Grab a good case, because this phone gets very slippery when it gets too hot.
TPU cases and Otterbox are both good for this phone...

To make sure it isn't a hardware issue, try a different ROM. 80°C gets me worried.

It's the ROM, because it only heated up after having placed it.
I'll put the other now, if it continues to heat up I have to return to the Brazil STOCK
I put this HB VERSION #3 MEGA Base (WITH BLUR) (MEGAEXT4)
thanks guys
Did you bother underclocking it? It might be running at 1.3 and you don't want that. That will obviously make it hot.

Use watchdog to identify the misbehaving app. There must be something which must have been keeping the CPU busy.

My phone rarely gets "hot". I gotta be pegging a lot of stuff for a while and.be plugged.in to get hot. I have display tweak which draws less.current and a very decent undervolt.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
Hi i have P500 and i flashed Mik_os 6.5.7 with android 2.3.5 and i am pretty happy with it. Also i kave installed Adobe Flash Player 10.2 and it runs pretty good.
But my friend got resently SE x10 mini with stock 2.3.3 android kernel 2.6.32.9 with Flash player 11.1 and it runs damn pretty smooth on 600Mhz!
I noticed that his phone works much smoother in all the work, even Angry birds never lag on his phone while mine lags pretty much on bigger levels even overclocked to 825Mhz performance mode!
But aside that, i am very concerned when it comes to flash. I watch alot of Anime online and on my phone it lags a lot on 70% of videos while his can play all of them without lag! Is it because of flash version? Also, his internet surfing is much faster..i think.
I know that my phone is in top performance cuz i scored 1302 points on quadrant standard which is pretty high.
So, why is his phone so much faster, and it has same procesor on 600Mhz like mine?
Maybe it's the hardware problem, and also x10mini has a very small screen so I guess it wouldn't use so much power like LG optimus one.
New x10 mini has a 1 Ghz processor
