Change the MMS Settings? - Nokia Lumia 800

does anyone know how to change the MMS Settings on the Lumia?

Factory reset seems to be a popular answer

but that doesn't fix anything

Yeah, you can't change it on WP. I would suggest Nokia's Network Setup, but it doesn't cover Giffgaff.

Nokia Network Setup IS available on marketplace, if you open the link directly on the phone in the thread where it was posted.

[Q] Custom MMS APN via Diagnostic application.

With their recent firmware update, Nokia has updated the diagnostic Application with quite a few new features/options.
Considering the widespread unavailability of the Network Setup App for custom MMS APN, the option that interests Lumia users the most is "APN Settings".
I have tried adding and saving new MMS APN settings with this application, which results in a prompt, "successfully saved". However, the moment you close and re-open this Menu, the settings go missing, and of-course they are not operational, if tested in the messaging app.
Has anyone else played with this New Diagnostic App/Menu? I am currently in the process of trying to set my unlocked Lumia 800 for MMS on Rogers. Strangely enough, the internet over 3G is fully operational without any manual intervention.
So, 68 views and no replies? I heard quite a few people crying about their beloved "giffgaff" not being included in the "Network Setup App". Why don't you try this?
Because it doesn't help.

And that post definitely helps. If it doesn't work for you, that is a good feedback. Something useful. Rather than me doubting the process that I followed.
Thank you.
Yeah that is a lot of stuff in the diag app that doesn't seem to do anything (there is an HSPA switch that is set too off be default, and HSPA still works for example) for some reason.
I have just flashed my unlocked Lumia with 11501 from navifirm. I entered all the correct settings within APN in diagnostics. I can confirm that my cyan unlocked Lumia still cannot send MMS. The only hope now is GG settings included in Nokia network setup or else MSFT giving all wp7 owners the functionality to set up mms
Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express
New Network Setup App released
Hello Everyone,
The new Network Setup App has been released, and it works perfectly. MMS works like a charm.
Enjoy!
don't have to use the diag, now you can download the Network Setup from Nokia Collection in marketplace, the it will automatically set up all the network settings include MMS, it works fine for me
It only works for those who's carrier has been included by Nokia.

[Q] Nokia Apps No Longer Appearing In Marketplace

I just got a new Lumia 800 and I'm having trouble with a few things.
I can't find the Nokia apps section anymore after (I think) changing my system locale from US to PRC to UK to US again; I changed them to find Network Setup. And I could never find Network Setup, which I heard they pulled from the marketplace.
But my second thing is how do I get my apn to change and stay changed. I tried using the same settings I had before on China Unicom ("3gnet") and it does not work. I just came from another Lumia So I know with certainty that the apn is right.
Please help.
edit: I fixed the disappearing Nokia Section but the apn and Network Setup still escape me. To add the Nokia Apps go into the marketplace via xboxlive then back out and browse the normal marktplace. Success.

[Q] Lost MMS and group texting

So I upgraded from the Titan to the Titan 2. Both are unlocked on Telus for use here in Toronto.
On the Titan 2 trying to run the HTC Connection app fails. On my original Titan it configures fine. On my Titan 2 MMS fails and group texting. On my original Titan it works fine.
I feel that essentially they are the same phone so it should work on both unless there are hardware changes be. I took out my sim card to test these functions and it just doesn't make sense. And why would the Titan 2 not recognise my carrier while the original Titan would?
APP "connection setup" does not work on Titan II
APP "connection setup" can run well on a Titan to fix MMS problem, but it does not work on Titan II. It shows Carrier does not exist in database. Do anyone know how to fix it? Or we can only wait for HTC update this APP?
BTW, I unlocked my phone using code to use a non ATT sim.

Glad to know it's not just my phone only having this issue. I'm wondering if we should call HTC on this one?
Is there any way to manually configure the APN setting? I will be getting a Titan 2 for use in UK and would love to know how to get around this.
Yes you can manually configure the APN but those settings are very limited in comparison to Android phones. There is no seperate settings for data and MMS.
Btw, I called HTC support. They are unaware of the issue. They found it strange and were unable to help me. I asked for the protocol to escalate the issue to ensure HTC is made aware of it and he asked me to send an email through support so I have. I guess we'll see what happens.

WP7 sets your settings APN DATA/MMS on the first start (after a factory reset). If you have a known common carrier then the settings are loaded automatically, but if you had AT&T and then unlocked and simply swapped sims (obviously everybody does) the titan or for that matter any wp7 phone does not change the MMS settings.
"Automatic Data Configuration" is run on the first-run then disabled until the next factory reset.

[Q] Can anyone explain this?

After the Tango update i got the Nokia update which offers Internet sharing but it doesn't work for me giving this message (pic attached) ...

You have your Data Connection enabled, right? Another think you could try is switching to EDGE to see if it works with that.
Connection on, tried 2g also...
Maybe carrier has control over tether ability?

Does your carrier allow tethering? Have you tried another SIM?
my girlfriend has a 710 and tethering works on her device, took her sim and got the same error...(i'm a qa engineer and already thought of these options so i guess is a hardware problem)

You can also try a hardreset. There were some changes in the firmwares that are only active after a hard reset.
i find it really stupid that i have to hard reset it...that;s not why i bought the phone..
what are these changes?

Well, I got some new options that allow me to configure call forwarding and the SMS charset... I doubt that it is a hardware problem. Your data connection works properly on the phone?
Yup, always has been working fine...
Is the phone sim unlocked & are you using it on a different service provider? Can you send MMS messages? I suspect WP is looking at some hard coded APN settings when activating internet sharing, & not the one entered under the cellular apn option.
Yes i can MMS messages, but i do have another problem with it that makes me think the celullar modem is faulty....i use it on 2g and sometimes when i receive a call the sound is all distorted when i answer for about 5-6 seconds and then i ca hear the person on the other end...this happens form the day i started using it...
