Hi all..
I was trying to root my device (using FlashTool), but after doing the step when you have to hold "Back" button and turn the device on (while FlashTool is still running), it just lost the ability to launch Android properly and instead it gets stuck on boot screen (black background with white "Sony Ericsson") and I'm not able to continue rooting my device afterwards..!
Any idea why? I did the same just yesterday and got the same problem ,so I had to restore system using SEUS tooll, but I still need to root my phone, any comment is welcome and thanks in advance for everybody..
I was following the instruction mentioned on this link:
www DOT xperiax10 DOT net/2011/09/08/root-your-gingerbread-xperia-x10-tutorial/#comment-31826
And my phone is running GingerBread.
I assume your phone is X10i (if it's X10a let me know)
1.- download stock generic firmware http://minus.com/mAla782XK/1f
2.- download and install flashtool http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
3.- inside flashtool you'll find several folders, unrar your firmware (X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_1241-1846.ftf ) inside firmware folder, do not connect your phone yet
4.- run flashtool and click on "flash" icon, pick flashmode, then OK
5.- On the left side select your firmware and hit OK (It will say "preparing files for flashing")
6.- A window giving you instruccions will pop up, just press and hold the back button on your phone, connect the USB cable (which is already connected to PC, of course ) and don't let go the button until you read flashtool started to flash
7.- wait 'till it finishes
8.- It will only take a few minutes, the only moment it seems it's stucked is when is flashing "system" , don't worry, it takes a little longer that the other files.
9.- after is done, just unplug, turn it on and wait, don't forget first boot always takes a little longer too!!!!!!
10.- If you want to, use flashtool to root your phone and install xrecovery afterwards, that's it, brand new
Hope it helps and is clear enough, any question just ask, I'm usually here.
Don't forget to hit "thanks" if I was helpful!!

I got that same problem when I tried to root my phone. Apparently I had forgotten to enable USB debugging on my phone before beginning the process..you can resolve it by clicking on flash in the flashtool and selecting kernel upgrade..your phone will boot after that. Then close flashtool and restart the process with USB debugging enabled. I did this and it worked for me
thank you very much
i did enable USB debugging and i repeated the process but unfortunately i faced the same problem i stuck on boot screen "black background with white "Sony Ericsson" text" i assumed that its default to stay on this screen for a while but i Waited for several minutes and nothing happened..
any idea why ? and what i have to do in order to root properly ?
thank in advanced.
Which version of flashtool r u using...
Xperia X10[LB, DoomV06-FS with FeraV19]
First upadate ur phone using SEUS..
Or(if the above don't work)
flash it using flashtool( put ur desired firmware in firmware folder and then flash)
Use the latest flashtool(0.7.1. something) just one click to root ur phone using this flashtool.
Click on the second folder from left(padlock) in flashtool.. Ur phone vl b rooted.
For installing xrecovery click on the second from right folder( plus symbol)
Take the desired one and install it..
When a door is closed definitely there will b another door in open..
For all first u should have COURAGE.
Do it...

Relax. Be confident.
Restore your phone with SEUS first.
And then use this method to root your phone :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319653
Other methods involve confusing things. While rooting through this method, remember a few things :
(1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device
(2) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) make sure flashtool is not running in the background.
It'll root your phone with just one click.
Then you can download xrecovery through flashtool.

I hope this is in the right section, don't know as I am new to XDA.
But I have a real issue. Here goes.
I recently updated my Xperia S to ICS. And I thought I want to root it.
So I went ahead and started, but when I should have placed a zip file on my internal memory, I extracted the files there instead.
So no, on CWM, when I am supposed to install from .zip file, I can't, since I do not have .zip file there.
I have tried almost all of the options on CWM on the phone, nothing works and I just get back to the start.
So my question is, how do I get out of the loop?
Is there any way I can access my phones files? So I maybe can put the SuperSU .zip file in the directory?
I can boot the phone in fastboot mode, but then it doesn't show on the computer.
Or maybe I can just reverse everything? An easy way, because I am not the best when it comes to this. I have found some solutions, but they ALL require that you put files on your SD card. Only problem is that my phone doesn't have SD card, only internal memory. ANd I can't access that right now.
Please help
Download Flashtools from http://androxyde.github.com/
Download a stock ftf rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
Put the downloaded rom in the flashtool/firmwares/ folder, then go to flashtool/drivers/ folder and run Flashtool-drivers.exe, when that has finished restart your computer.
Turn phone off, now press and hold the volume down button and connect the phone to your computer with the usb cable, when you get a green led you can let go, you are now in flash mode.
Start up flashtool, or flashtool64 if your on an x64 system, click the thunderbolt icon in the top left corner, select flashmode and click ok, in the left hand window select the rom you downloaded and then click ok in the bottom right corner.

Is your Bootloader unlocked?
Hello, I'm having the same problem too, but I wonder how do I "turn off" the device, since I keep pressing the top button to do this and it reboots and goes into CWM mode? Will I have to remove the battery?
Good news. Luckily I managed turn off the device. In the CWM main menu, keep the cursor positioned over the option that resets the device. Hold down the power button and immediately after, press the volume up and hold. Wait until the device vibrates 3 times. Now ready you run the procedure to connect in download mode and reinstall your firmware.
You guys must have used cmd to flash nozomi-recovery.img?

Yeah, exactly. I used recovery-nozomi.img with CWM version 5.5.0.4 ... but I made a mistake in not installing SuperSU.

That's why I hate nozomi - recovery.img!
Nothing to worry... Happened to me too.
Use flashtool to reflash entire ftf(if you have ulbl) else use SEUS to repair (if you have lbl, I hate pcc!).
If lbl.... Then ulbl.
Use cmd to flash a custom kernel(don't use doom kernel its for gb).
Finished....
Thank... If helpful

hmm
Had a similar problem.. FIxed it with a lot of reading but now dnt remeber anymore :/
I'm having this problem too...
Almost everything is ready for flashing now, except the phone is not really turning off, even after 3 vibrates when holding down power and volume up... It turns off, but coming back in flash process!
That's how far I can go: It turns off, I hold down volume down, connect it to PC, have a green light. Flashtool see the phone, I push Flash button,Program gives "Device connected in flash mode" message, then "Selected Xperia s (LT26i)_WORLD_6,1,A,2,50_IT.flf" message, "Preparing files for flashing" message and "Device disconnected" message, because this stupid Recovery back on my screen again...
If I just can find the way to turn off my phone, so it's not come back to live when connected to PC...

SOLVED!
I manage to fix it!
Just wait for Flashtool to give error message (with phone picture and USB cable in it) and ask to reconnect device. Unplug device, press power button and volume up button until vibrate 3 times. Push volume down and plug usb cable, to get green light. Flashtool continue process from where it was broken.
Error message popped up not from first try, so hopefully this will be helpful to somebody...

Try to turn it off, long press power | volume up button untill you feel 3 consecutive vibrations.

You have to install the drivers first in order to get your phone recognized. Try pressing Vol Up + Power to shut down the phone. Hold it for 10 seconds and then enter fastboot mode and flash using flashtool.

Hi everyone,
i bought a second hand Xperia Pro which came wih Lupus Kernel and Ultimate HD rom. Now I wanted to try the stock firmware for comparison but i can't flash it.
I've followed several guides and searched on the forum with no luck. what i've done is basically
- installed flashtool, latest version
- downloaded the stock firmware and put the .tft in the firmware folder
- open the driver installer from the driver folder in flashtool and selecting fastboot, flashmode and xperia pro drivers to install
- click on the flash icon, select the correct firmware, click flash
- when the window with the animation asks for it i press and hold the volume down button and attach the usb cable. I keep pressing the button and the lupus logo appears, then nothing happen and the window with the usb cable animation goes on
i've tried several times and also on different computers... and... to get thing worse, i've just bricked my xperia :s after several attempts, a menu apeared on the display (i have no idea why, i must have done something different from the previous attempts) i think it was called lupus cwm. One of the options was about wiping the phone... i've tried with that one, then he asked me "Root access is missing. Root Device? This cannot be undone" and I choosed yes... not very wise to choose yes or no when you don't know what you are talking aobut, i know
So basically if i try to turn the phone freezes on the lupus logo and i have to pull the battery out. And, no need to say it, nothing has changed when it comes to trying to flash it with flashtool
any help will be much appreciated, i really don't know what else i could try now...

thanks for your help. I've tried removing the battery but it's just the same. A blue led, not green, turns on for a couple of seconds on my xperia pro... i've recorded a short video so you can check that i'm doing everything properly...

MUAHHAHA got it!!! my phone is finally flashed! i was just pressing the wrong button :s even if all the guides specific for xperia pro were saying to pross the volume down button, i had to press the BACK button! and the led did turn on green indeed, as you were saying
just another question: what happened when that CWM menu asked me "Root access is missing. Root Device? This cannot be undone" and I choosed yes? does that mean i rooted the phone? and is it stil rooted or it's been overwritten by the original firmware i have just flashed?
thanks

I'm sorry, I forgot the thing about the back button instead of volume down, too
If you have an unlocked bootloader, your phone normally should automatically be rooted when you flash a custom kernel as (nearly) all kernels for our devices include this feature. But as you have flashed the stock firmware now, all was overwritten and you have to flash another custom kernel to get cwm back
ok, thanks a lot

I had the exact same problem, I created a guide to help other people with this problem. Here it is. I can't post links yet but if you want to have a look, search for this on google ( oneplus : Xperia z2 bricked help!! ) It's the first link ( fourms Oneplus Net )
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To get Sony's UI/ROM back:
Download and Install Flashtool from here.
Download a proper ( official ) ftf firmware for YOUR phone ( eg Sirius ).
Now copy the downloaded ftf firmware file to ( C:\Flashtool\firmwares )
Open the Flashtool and click on the little lightning rod and choose Flashmode.
Now a window will pop up and ask you to choose firmware for your device, Choose the one you downloaded and click flash.
--------Choosing a wrong one WILL further brick your device--------
Meanwhile, turn your phone completely off, To do this hold the Power button and the volume UP button until you feel your phone vibrate 3 times.
Flashtool will pop up saying you need to put your phone into flash/fastboot mode.
Now put it on fastboot/flash mode ( connect the usb to your computer and hold down the volume up button while plugging the other end to your phone. Your phone's LED should be blue at this stage.
The flashing process will start and once it's done, Flashtool will ask you to unplug the device and restart the phone.
The first boot takes 5-10 minutes.. CONGRATS YOU HAVE UN-BRICKED YOUR PHONE.
Now if you want to root your phone and install a custom recovery ( TWRP ), Download this package and extract it on your desktop
Make sure you have usb debugging turned on ( on your phone )
Navigate inside " to root" folder and run install.bat
Once thats done, to install recovery, navigate inside the " recovery folder " and run install.bat
Make sure to follow on-screen instructions. ( your computer and your phone )
Now you have Rooted sony ROM.
