I've had my atrix for a week now and it has been working fine. A couple of days ago I put gingerbread on it.
This morning, however, I unlocked the sim. It was previously locked to orange. Now it seems as though my home button does naught. Whenever I press it it vibrates but does nothing. The rest of the buttons work fine.
I have tried rebooting the phone to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My lockscreen has dissapeared now.
How did you get Gingerbread? Did you install it by modding (root, unlocked BL, etc) or was it by official means (OTA)?
If you installed it yourself through recovery you might need to try it again, doing the proper wipes of course. If you got the update as an Official OTA then you might need to do a factory data reset.

I followed this to the letter.
However my home button and lockscreen are both working now. But webtop and the entertainment mode are not.
I wish I knew more about that version, unfortunately, I have an AT&T version. Which recovery are you using?

sorry to resurrect this, but my friend is having the same issue with his atrix.
he's not rooted nor does he have an unlocked bootloader.
and actually, he's on 2.2.1.
i did a factory reset on his phone by holding the power + volume down buttons and doing it through there.
there's no lockscreen and there's no effect when hitting the home button. there is vibration when touched, but no action on the screen. any ideas? maybe i'll just force the most recent update that came out.
i'm thinking maybe i'll root it and unlock it for him and flash a ROM or something...? he's not fond of doing that because... well, i guess he's not that into trying his hand at hacking his phone.
...i'm going to keep a tight hold on my own atrix... just in case he decides to switch them out...
but yeah. any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks, all.
Y i would try to update first via OTA if avilable so worst case senario it will brick the phone (it shouldnt) but then you can send it off for warrenty replace. but then again a custom ROM such as CM7 would also be a good try and make the phone a lot faster and more fun lol.
hm. just thought of something. since he's on 2.2.1, and the unlocking/rooting methods I see are for 2.3.4, how do I unlock/root his phone?
because if I update to the new 2.3.6 OTA, then I won't be able to unlock/root... correct?
You will be able to unlock it. Just keep reading is my best advice on that. Start at the top of the Development Thread and read it all. I felt kind of overwhelmed at first but now I have full confidence in flashing roms, entering scripts, etc.

I have been running the newest release of the sprint rom since it came out a few weeks back. I today loaded the HTC Home app and my phone wanted to reboot and when I did, it comes back up locked up every time.
1. Screen still reacts to touch as far as backlight turning on
2. Somtimes the power button puts it to sleep and wakes it back up
3. Have performed multiple resets (using the sytlus in the reset button), anyway to do a hard reset?
4. Active sync wont connect
5. Never have custom rom'd this before, always have used the sprint roms. Just activesync'd and ran their installer.
Any ideas how to jumpstart a reload of the sprint rom??
Ok first of all...your phone is NOT bricked.
A "bricked phone" is exactly that...bricked. As in it doesn't do ANYTHING and can be used only as a paperweight (i.e. like a brick). People always post that their phone is bricked when it isn't even anywhere close to being bricked. In fact, it is VERY difficult to brick the Titan.
In your case, all you need to do is hard reset. If it locks up right at boot and won't even allow you to hard reset, just reflash the rom. Very simple.

Sounds like you need a hard reset. It will take you back to your default Sprint ROM without the Home app. You will lose all data though.

When you indicate that "it comes back up locked up every time" can you elaborate on the exact symptoms? Does the phone boot and when the home screen attempts to load, the phone freezes/locks and stops responding?
If this is the case, the phone is far from bricked. What you can do is hard-reset which will reset it to the way the rom comes.
Best regards,

If you don't have safe mode (through PocketPlus or other), or through a SPB Backup (or similar) there are very few ways to get this back safely. Hard reset is probably the way to go if you can't get around in the OS. I love PocketPlus safe mode, it has saved me many, many times.
Edit: I agree with the "bricked" comment, it is an attention grabber if anything but almost always inaccurate. Can people say stuck instead please?

Oh, and on topic... I didn't see anyone actually posting HOW to hard reset without flashing... this is obviously an easy first step. If you don't intend on changing your ROM, you should be fine doing the following:
hold down the 2 softkeys (the ones with Dots on em) and press reset with stylus... follow instructions on screen
EDIT: Oh, I guess that's in the Wiki! Good stuff those wiki's

Yup, it's here to stay.
I know someone will eventually tell me to do a search, but I have and can't make any sense of most of the so called guides. What I have been finding is for the international version, or some generic crap that don't really help me. My phone is stuck on the Samsung logo when you try and power it on. I really need to fix this!!! I did SIM unlock it, rooted it, and installed OnlyOne ICS because I got tired of waiting for slow a$$ ATT to get the ICS update out. Anyhow, the phone worked great for 2 months and now this morning it kept saying, blah blah has crashed, etc. So I rebooted the phone and lord behold, the stupid thing won't work anymore. The only thing I can do with it is hold the power button and down volume button to get to the "Odin Mode". Other then that, the phone is useless. I would love to find some guide that is more specific on fixing this problem? Maybe I over looked one, but I am at work and don't have the time to search thru hundreds of threads, etc. I will when I get home, but really need to fix the phone ASAP since I use it for work too. Any info would be awesome.

If you can get into download mode (odin mode) just flash the attstock Rom to unroot.
Go to rootgalaxynote.com and click the upper right hand corner where it says uroot and follow the directions. Works great for me used it multiple times.

I do appreciate the quick responses, but I'm about to head out and will try to re-flash it later. I am just concerned about the data / pictures, etc I have on the phone itself. I know I can pull the 16gb sd card I have and it will be safe, but if I use the ODIN way to re-flash to stock, will it erase all my content I have? I thank god I have a MyTouch 4g as a backup, but all my work related stuff is on my Note, so I am really up a creek right now without it.

If you unroot all of the data stays on your note. No worries. Good luck
Just one thing, when you unroot and it is finished the att logo will come up with the "rethink possible" after that just go into Samsung recovery and reboot from there.
It doesn't say that on the website.

Can you put solved in the title please? : )
And quite happy for your success.
Hey everyone, I have been going through these forums as well as giving google a full shakedown of what it has to offer and it seems I can only find problems that are "partially" similar to mine. Anyway here is the nitty gritty;
I was running the Super Nexus I777 rom for my AT&T SGS2 (the SGH-I777) when this morning my power button quit working. I could not lock or unlock the screen without either pulling the battery and putting it back in and waiting for it to boot back up, or plugging it into a charger. I found a couple apps on the market that allowed me to circumvent the process by unlocking the phone with the volume keys. After work when I got home I contacted AT&T to check on my warranty (because at this point I had decided I was going to flash back to stock and send in for a new/refurbished but working phone). Warranty was still good so after the call was ended I hopped on the forums here and followed the procedure on how to prepare your phone for returning to the store for warranty. Here is where the problems really began. I downloaded the correct stock files and flashed the phone back to stock with no issues. I boot up the phone and start getting "google services has stopped unexpectedly" and other errors which will not allow me to get past the "touch the android to begin" start up screen. I have tried the tap the four corners method but it is not working for me. I have tried using "adb" and "fastboot" to get into recovery and that has not worked.
The problem lies in the fact that my power button no longer works. So I have spent hours scouring the internet and these forums in the hopes of finding some other way to get into the stock recovery mode.
From what I have read, the processes that are stopping and force closing which are keeping me from moving past the startup screen, are because I need to wipe my Dalvik and regular Cache. I would be very happy to do that and have at least a semi working phone again for the week or so I am going to have to wait before my replacement comes in.
Sorry for the long post (especially considering this is my first post here on XDA), but I don't know where else to turn. I hope I have provided enough information about what I have already tried so that the whole process of elimination can be made shorter for myself and anyone else who feels like helping me out. Thanks for taking the time to read this post and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try using adb to reboot into recovery, but then you won't be able to select anything because you won't have touch CWM.

Go into Samsung Kies, on the menu go to Tools --> Firmware Upgrade & Initialization and enter the model (SGH-I777) and then enter your serial number from the battery compartment when prompted and follow the instructions to restore phone to factory settings. That's what I did when I got my phone replaced under warranty due to the broken power button.

U can do that sure. But I dont think that wipes the data or cache, which is really what he needs to do to stop his problems. Then again I don't remember if upgrading in that manner wipes anything or not. I'm pretty sure not. But it's been a few months since I've messed with it.

Yea, it's been a few months for me as well, but I believe it does a complete reset to factory settings (wipe included). It should download the latest Samsung ROM (ICS) automatically as well. I think the process also kicks you into download mode automatically and starts installing the firmware...a little fuzzy on that part.

Paranoid Android in the ported section is a fantastic rom and allows to wake the screen by just swiping it. So unlocking amounts to two swipes left to right.
Rebooting into recovery isn't difficult either. You can add a recovery reboot button to the drop down notification drawer.

Confessions of a TRUE NOOBand a chuckle/or sob) from you all. Yesterday, in frustration, I called Sprint, asking for tech support level2. Didn't get there, but level one did check with lvl2, who said, "stores should have ALL versions of software for reinstall" Lvl 1 checks with a large trusted Sprint repair store directly, who says "YEAH we have software" I race over, a half hour before closing. They look at phone. Tried a bunch of things. NO JOY. We only have the software on the server to down load, that MOTO sends Sprint. Current only. 2.3.5 ONLY! SQUARE ONE.
To answer your question, yes, I and others have tried to run factory reset, but it appears to be unpacking the new software as described above, so it has been aborted by pulling battery.
I am ALMOST resigned to 2.3.5 so I can get my phone back. I don't have the time, mental energy, or maybe the smarts some of the you folks do, I live vicariously thru what I read about. Note my join date. Been here since Sprint MM-9000/original Touch/TP2. I'll hang out for a while to see if any miracle ideas appear, and thanks to all.:fingers-crossed:

Sent from my Galaxy S4
So I have an AT&T LG Optimus G (E970). However, I found out that it's pre-release hardware (yes, it says "nOt foR sale***" on the side of the phone, but it was in a case), and I've bricked it trying to root it the standard way (using LGNPST), and it now boot loops 3 times before displaying "Security Error" under the LG logo. I can't get it back into download mode, nor does a factory hard reset (the only mode I can get it into) work.
A bit of background info:
The original firmware was E97009j. It was unable to download the OTA JB update. I tried to install that stock update through LGNPST since the phone couldn't be seen through ADB. From there I planned on rooting and everything else. Yes, I should have never tried messing with pre-release hardware, but in theory, since it was a review unit, the hardware itself should've been identical to what is sold in stores. Also, and more importantly, I didn't realize it was pre-release until after I bricked it.
Luckily this isn't my daily phone, but I'd like to get it fixed...
Possible way to get back into download mode.
Start with phone unplugged, and when it gets stuck on security error hold power button for 10 seconds to force reboot.
Then at very instant it powers off, but before it powers on hold volume up + volume down + power and plug in USB.
If you are able to get into download flash the teenybin alt. with lgnpst.

So that partially got me fixed. I was able to finally get it into download mode after trying your method about 4 times, and I did the teenybin deal. The "regular" teenybin didn't fix it, though it allowed it into download mode the proper way without trying more than once. I then did the alt teenybin, and when it rebooted, it showed a Google logo (instead of LG) with an unlocked icon at the bottom of the screen for about a second before the screen went black. Now I can't get it to turn on at all, though it could just need to be charged. When I plug it in, it shows a white battery icon with a lightning bolt for about 4 seconds before turning back off. I'll let it sit on the charger undisturbed for an hour or so and see what I can do then. As it stands right now, it won't go back into download mode or factory hard reset mode.
Out of curiosity, since I've flashed teenybin, my bootloader should be unlocked and I should have a recovery I can flash zips from now, right? I shouldn't have to jump through any more hoops with LGNPST or anything?
EDIT:
Um, this phone will charge even in this state, right? The LED on the power button isn't lighting up, and I can only sometimes get it to show that battery icon...
YES!!!
I'm into recovery now! I'm going to flash CM10.1 and report back!
EDIT:
I'm up and running now, though WiFi isn't working, nor is my earpiece on the phone. Though, the earpiece was an issue before I borked everything, so I'm pretty sure that's a broken bit of hardware there.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Wifi works under the stock AT&T JB firmware. Not sure why it didn't work under CM10.1 (it couldn't initialize it), but I'm good now. Thanks!
It may have been a radio issue, ROM zips don't include them. Teenybin would not have changed radio either, so you would still have had ICS radio.

EDIT:
Yep, that did it. I didn't think to update the radios. I can't thank you enough, man. Aside from the earpiece issue (and I can just use a BT headset to get around it until I decide to pay to get it fixed), it's purring along now.

Haha, it wasn't you who bricked it; it was me. Really, I should've just done TeenyBin when I first got it into download mode through LGNPST instead of trying to install a stock ROM to root. It really was a backwards way for me to accomplish what I wanted. You'd think that since I've had like 10 Android devices, all rooted and modded, I'd know better. lol
