This is my first Android tablet and i noticed that everytime that i turn it on the date and time is restored to the fabric value (year 1999) until i connect it to a wifi. I think that it should have an internal battery to keep this value just like motherboards but im not sure. Is that normal?

it does have an internal battery. How else would it work without being plugged in?

Go to your settings for date/time and set the time manually. Automatic setting uses network provided time

Ok i didn't explain myself correctly, some devices like netbooks has an small battery like the ones used in wrist watches, this is an independent battery to the main one and it is used to keep the system time in the BIOS even when there is no energy in the main battery. So the prime does not have something like this? Is it normal that is not saving datetime when turning off?

Thanks I already did that but its still not saving the time, could this be a hardware issue?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
You need to go to the time settings and then make sure you select your time zone. After you select the correct time zone then turn on automatic date and time. Mine was doing the same thing and that's what I did.

Updated yesterday (12/21) and found that my phone battery was draining fast. Handset got very warm in my holster.
This morning I noticed that the display would never go blank unless forced by tapping the power button. It would dim but not blank out.
This problem did not exist prior to the OTA update.
Any ideas?
If your 100% stock and haven't done any mods to your phone, I would call up or go into an att store and tell em their sh**** update made your phone turn onto a hand warmer :-\

That's a good idea. Wished I still lived in Michigan. It would be a feature then.

OK. Kinda weird, but this is computer stuff.
Changed a bunch of wall papers back and forth. Reset default launcher (was Launcher Pro) to TouchWiz. No help. Randomly turned on/off various Display settings. No joy.
Let it sit for a while and all of sudden it started working OK in TouchWiz. Restarted Launcher Pro and still working. Set my favorite live wall paper and it is still working OK.
Oh weLL
Sweet. Weird indeed. Might have just had an app acting funky keeping screen awake. Anyway glad its working correctly!

I've changed it around several times to no avail. Then it started working for some reason. Oh well.
I am having this same issue. I pulled the battery and it worked for two days and acted up again. I rebooted the phone and now its working again. Very annoying.... also noticed after ota update.
Has to be some kind of app that prevents the display from turning off. Try searching through your app list and see which apps have those permissions.
Is there a mod or app that makes sgs2 data connection behave like iPhone's? it only turns 3g on when you're actually using it... Only 2g stays on all the time...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
That would be nice, however i haven't seen anything like that. You can switch to 2g in the settings but that's about it, it can't switch between 2g/3g depending on usage.
closest thing you will find is juice defender... you can set it to disconnect 3g data when the screen is off..but it's not exactly like iphone setup.
Developers should try to develop something like this. The fact that the phone stays on 3g is one of the main causes of battery drain.

owh...........
Why not set network type selection as one of your toggles ? How hard is it to pull down your notification/toggles panel, press the icon & manually set your network mode to 2G & leave it that way unless you specifically want to use 3G for something. Or switch it to 2G (or even flight mode) overnight/when you're not doing much with the phone ?
Takes all of two seconds On the other hand, you could get an iPhone.
Problem solved either way.
Re: your comment "developers should try to develop something like this, the fact the phone stays on 3G is one of the main causes of battery drain..." All I can say to this is. It's a smartphone, after all.

You have Juice Defender or several flavours of toggles to suit your needs... Also you can dump the SGS2 and get an iPhone
I tried using tasker to switch to 2g when the screen is off and go back to 3g when its back on but it doesn't seem to be working in cm7, even manually toggling 2g doesn't seem to work in cm7, it just disabled 3g and turns it back on.
Hey,
I am using this for a while now...

Dude, I would never switch my galaxy for an iPhone, never. When I say that developers should try to copy this feature, it's a suggestion to improve Android phones. I'm not a developer, but if I were, I'd do it for sure, and I bet a lot of people would like it. I'm not shouting orders, if you're a developer and you felt offended by my suggestion, sorry.

I'm trying to find a locking app similar to the lock on my iPad, when the phone is rebooted or sleep for more the 2 hours the iPad requires a code to unlock. But during normal use it's just normal unlocking. Anybody know of a Android app that would be similar?
Thought my note slipped out my pocket the.other afternoon while working on my truck and didn't realize I didn't have it till later that night, the last time I used it was outside my apartments with my truck and I automatically thought it fell and somebody found it and took it. Tried to call it but it just kept going straight to voicemail so that definitely made me think it was stolen since my.phone wasn't off before. But I.found it later under the seat in my truck haha. I want a.locking app so if it does get taken and the person turns it off and tried to turn it back on then it will ask for a code and lock them out

I don't know if it supports 2 hours as an interval, but the stock rom does this. Home, menu, settings, security, I think. Somewhere in there is the option to set the time after which your PIN will be requested.

I wish we have something like HTC sense provides. Locate phone and if stolen you can delete contents of the phone from the HTC sense website.

A while back I lost my streak and I'd call it and it ring and go to voice mail except once someone rejected the same call and I knew someone had it. Lookout has an app that's called plan b that you can install remotely and will activate your gps so you can find it. Long story short I retrieved my streak and the guy who took it and wouldn't return it ended up with a broken car window. I also believe there's an app out there that'll completely lock your phone down too. Check lookout's suite of software, they may have something for you

Try out Cerberus it can remotely take pictures using the front or back camera and it emails the picture to you, bad guys face is there and also can use the back camera to figure out where they are. GPS locator remotely wipe SD and phone memory and also can set up other people's numbers (that you trust obviously) that you can send a wipe message to your phone from as well through text.
And its only $4 for a lifetime license.
Keep getting this notification every few mins at the bottom of my screen. It's like the wifi is constantly connecting/reconnecting to the network or something.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal or what? Never happened on the S2.
That looks like the wifi power saving mode.
Try turning it off. *#0011# in dialer.

No it's not normal. Unless your in bad spot and it keeps loosing connection I stay connected at my house and all around my yard and never see the connection noti unless I leave and come back.
I would suggest forgetting the wireless network and re-connecting. You can also try clearing your wifi data maybe ??

This worked perfectly! But I notice that it turns itself back "on" when I disconnect or turn off wifi. Anyway to keep it permanently set to "off" power save mode??
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
It will (or should) only reset after a reboot. At least that's my experience.
I know its annoying, but its the only thing I find works. Changing frequencies, channels and security settings always ends up with disconnects.
I don't know if it can be permanently set.

Shot in the dark, but you could unknowingly have status bar brightness enabled. This changes brightness by sliding across the status bar. Some ROMs have this.

No, thats not it

Suggest that you clean slate the device ...including format of the emmc .
Then reload the rom ..
Remember to move all data you want to keep too PC ...
Unless you aren't formatting the external card ...then put it there ...
This will at least tell you if it's a dirty flash or not ....and you might try a good stock type build to confirm you don't have digitizer issues ...g
Do you have auto-brightness enabled in the browser? I had mine enabled and it would automatically stay on after closing the browser.
