am I the only one who thinks that trying to access the USB port is a major pain in the ass with the mini pro? seriously, you need it on a daily basis and its that hard to open? am I just too stupid to do it propely?
any tips whats the easiest way to open the strap?
Stick your finger nail under it, pull. It's easy as piss, assuming you haven't screwed yours up like my friend has. He has to get a knife to open his. That's what he gets for not taking care of his stuff.
in mini pro, its quite easy, but on mini, it sucks
Xperia live doesnt have it

You're not the only one with that problem. I screwed my strap too but managed to figure out how to open it still without the help of screwdrivers or knives..
Don't use force, sink your fingernail in as fas as possible and then softly pull upwards. If you press too much with the nail the strap gets pushed against the side and sort of 'hangs'.
Our phones are like women sometimes...... handle with care

Im always on the verge of breaking my nails (and nope, they arent long, not even for a man)
If it annoys you so much why don't you rip the freaking thing off ? But seriously just don't push it in too hard.. get's easier the older your phone is anyway...
dont like to rip it off in case I might need protection from dirt

Hello,
I don't know if it's just me, but whenever I pull out my x10 mini pro's qwerty keypad out, it tends to slam hard on the phone. I'm scared that something inside might break. I think the spring inside is tight so it slams hard when pulled out. Do experience the same thing as well? Do you think this is normal? I'm getting kinda paranoid whenever I pull out the keypad.
Thanks,
Pabs
agree .. with wifes I hold the keyboard as it comes out to slow it down.

LOL I noticed most x10 mini users are girls. Maybe in time the spring will get loose and by that time we only need gravilty to pull out the keypad . On a second thought, SE phones are really durable. My old phone, w810i got so beat up to the point that it needs scotch tape to hold the casing but it's still working in tip top shape.
I feel like if I use any more force I'm going to break it or something!
Any suggestions ?
Are you pushing up thumb under the camera lenses one side and same place on the right, mine comes off fairly easily ....

Males sureto depress the middle close to the aluminium body then press up.

I agree, it is a bit like there is a child lock - like medicine bottle lid. HTC could have done better there. Even staff at a CPW struggled to take the little cover off.
It will come off, but if you are not too sure, and you bought from a store near you, go back there and let them show you how to open it so that it does not break in your hands. Just a thought.
Seems to losen up after being removed twice.

The trick is to press down (inwards) then up. Quite easy if you do that.
Really wow come on this is the last thing one should worried about with this bad ass device. It's not hard at all.

I can confirm that mine was a real pain in the butt. it was the point to where i feared breaking the thing so i gave up. then when my sd card came in the next day i gave it a go and it came off without much trouble. cant say if it was a slightly different technique or if it loosened up after being played with for a day.
Hi folks,
I used to have a Motorola Defy - sadly lifeproof doesn't include throw proof !
Other than being thrown, it was useless once it got wet, with fingers just not registering on the screen.
Can any outdoory users of the phone confirm the Xperia Actives performance in the real world, wet conditions?
Any other general comments in the phone appreciated. I hear ics is supposedly slated for March ?
Cheers,
John

try looking for xperia active test from this guy channel
I've been taking mine hiking in the rain and cold for quite a while now and it performs great. I also carry it in my turnouts as a volunteer firefighter and it's still ticking. I wouldn't recomend throwing it or anything similar. Tough or not, blunt force impacts can put cracks in anything. Dropping it is one thing, throwing it with force is another. I can use mine while it's wet, the only thing weird about it is getting used to using it like that. Just plain weird, everything in you tells you not to use it in the rain and to protect it! It's a little on the small side but I got used to it quickly. It's nice being able to throw it in any pocet and not worry about it.
I used my phone in the shower many times. You won't be able to text, but you can make/answer calls, surf web or read emails quite comfortably.

Basically it depends on how much water there is on the screen. The touch screen stops working completely submerged under water. Of course you can always use dedicated button to take pictures
Hi guys I recently bought an Xperia S and only yesterday I accidentally dropped abit of Mayoneese on my phone while I was eating. I think the Mayoneese managed to get in my phones ear speaker. Now it sounds like it is blocked, it has sound but very soft, almost like on low volume. And when I'm taking calls the ear speaker heats up fast. Is there anyway to fix this? Everything else is working just as fine. Thanks in advance.

Well, you have two options... either you put your Xperia S between two breads since mayonnaise is already there and add tomato or cucumber... or try to use vacuum to suck out the mayonnaise...

I had similar problem with my old (t)rusty Hero. Over time the metal mesh filled with everything and hardened pretty well. I had to disassemble it and soak in alcohol for a while.
Do the next only and ONLY if you have a steady hand and good eye! Don't rush!
What you should do:
1. Go to the nearest pharmacy and buy a small syringe with blunt needle 1-1.5mm or larger. Don't use the sharp one, it will damage your phone. If you have to use the sharp one, take some honing stone (from kitchen) and grind it down to nice flat end and finish it that it has no sharp edges. If you cant do that find some knife sharpener and ask him to do it for you. Buy him a beer.
2. When you succeeded with needle, go to nearest shop with paints etc. and ask for burner fuel used for camping burners and for cleaning. It's the cleanest alcohol you can get (Do not drink this stuff). Don't use one from pharmacy because its more expensive and always has some additives inside. You can see if its pure by dropping some on clean glass. After evaporation it should leave nothing on the surface. The pharmacy grade will leave whitish residue behind - it's some kind of hydratation creme.. Do not use acetone!!! It will ruin your phone for sure!
3. Fill the syringe 1/3rd or less and gently put some alcohol on the speaker's mesh. Be careful, its very fragile. Don't put to much of it, you can ruin your speaker or even the display that way.
You should not use more than half drop per application. Wet the mesh and wait a little bit. Then wet it again and suck back. Use wooden stick (not sharp) to work on the mesh, don't rub, be very, very gently.
4. Flush the syringe and fill it again with fresh alcohol. Repeat step #3 until you are satisfied with results.
5. Get rid of mayonaise, ketchup etc., at least when your phone is nearby.
Do this only, and only if you are 100% sure you can do it correctly and have the proper stuff. Don't improvise or rush. Take the time to make it properly, or take it to repair in some gsm service/Sony service - that would bee cheaper than a new phone

Mine is very clear and loud. But you have to hold it properly.
Maybe we can compare when I'm in Fiume next time?
Okay apparently I Googled and found a way. Just suck and blow the Earpiece for a few days. Now the sound is louder. Slowly it will fix this problem.

Yes or No and why. I'm on the fence right now and really wanna know what it's like walking, sitting down and operating a huge phone.
If you can operate a Note 2 you can operate this phone. It is a bit hard to use with one hand but you can with some getting used to it
I would trade 1 handed use for screen any day. How often are you stuck with just 1 hand to do everything? 3% of the time maybe?
I am very comfortable using the phone. I thought size might be a factor but it's not. It is a pleasure to use.
I would imagine using it as a small tablet is comfortable, but are you guys using it as a phone by itself? As in holding it up to your head? Or do you pair a bluetooth device to make calls?

Yes, I use it as a phone holding it to my head. I bought a bluetooth device thinking I would use that as a handset but it remains unused.
Are there any issues with the other side hearing you? While on my note 2, if I'm not talking in normal/loud voice, the other person may complain they can't hear me very well (or maybe it's just this particular restaurant in specific). Since the XZU is so long, it'll go WAY past where your mouth is.

No complaints as of yet.
I don't have the largest hands and I can type in landscape with very little effort. It is hefty, but since it's so slim, you don't really notice. I've made a few phone calls and I'll admit, it looks strange, but doesn't feel unnatural.

No issue for me, if still comfortable for me.
I can make calls with it no problem. No need for a bluetooth device at all unless you want one.
My biggest concern actually is using the phone as a music player. The audio jack is on thw side so it might be too tight on the pants. And while driving, it might be impossible to switch between tracks with one hand lol
I wish android implemented swipe gestures on the screen to wakeup. Its almost effortless and is an elegant solution especially if your phone is idle on a table top

Coming from iPhone 5, I need some adjustment to typing on this device. However, browsing websites and reading articles from Current and Buzzfeed is great, it has that book-reading feel to it. In fact, the big ass screen makes it a pleasure.
It's easy to hold with one hand but making phone calls made me feel awkward, and a little bit embarassed.
I feel like I made the right choice to return to android with this device. I wish it has tablet capacity battery though.

The audio jack on the side is ridiculous - sony did this on XSP too (sony seems to be good at spoiling decent devices ), especially on a "smartphone" this big :silly:
I'm also getting an XZU in couple of weeks, and if using audio cable while the phone is in my pocket proved impossible, I think the workaround is using the wireless bluetooth.. Sounds like it defeat the purpose of a fully-waterproofed audio jack, but some compromise must be made, huh
First look I worry about the size, now I love the size. Inside my pocket no problem for walk, sit and run. I put my note 2 and zu together with my jean pocket or short paint is ok. No doubt.
One hand operate no problem for me. Because I m the big hand.
When incoming call also no problem, answer without bluetooth. Now I won't worry the size only how to root my device.
One more think is this device suitable for male better than female. When my wife hold it look like holding a M16.

Here's a fresh preview video from Pocket Now. The Ultra Vs the Note 2
I found the Note 2 too awkward to use so I sent it back. If I had issues with that would this device be even worse?
I don't have the ZU yet, so I can't really give you an answer, but what didn't you like about the Note 2? Was it too big?

It was partly the size but more just its general handling, reaching across the screen even though I tried clustering stuff on one side of it. I had a Galaxy Note sometime prior & I got on with that reasonable well & though the Note 2 was bigger of screen I still thought I would be OK with it.
I taking out my phone from the jeans every time I get in the car.
