Cheap JIG that works - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I bought this jig for less than $2, and it worked. The shipping took about 2 weeks.

Thanks just bought one. Can't beat the free shipping

Grabbed one. Great insurance. Thanks for the link.

Just grabbed one, thanks for the info.
Now I won't be as nervous when trying experimental ICS roms/mods when it comes to that time.
Wish it didn't take 2 weeks though...

Just grabbed one also

Wait, so if I went from stock GB 2.3.4 to UnNamed 2.2.1 (includes GB 2.3.6) I can still use this since I don't think it includes a bootloader if I am not mistaken.
If it does include a new bootloard which can I do...
1. Remove Triangle?
2. Download Mode?
3. Reset Flash Counter?
It's only $2 so its not the end of the world, I spend more on junk food at work.

Should still work. I think what he means is if you install the ICS bootloader it wont work.

I tried, and it worked

What I mean is if you flash the stock 2.3.6 from AT&T/Samsung, you will have flashed the new bootloader. All the custom roms that are 2.3.6 are running the old bootloader as far as I know. Nothing to do with ICS.
BTW, anyone figure out how to put some sort of keyring or somthing onto the jig? I'd love to clip it to the rest of my important thumb drives to keep it all together.

I bought a jig. and I wanna test it first before plugging this bad boy on my galaxy s2. yes I'm a little paranoid because I can't afford a new phone if my galaxy s2 stop working(imma student and I don't work). I do have an old vibrant and can I test my jig on the vibrant first if it works or does vibrant uses diff jig?

This is the cheapest one I found with SGS2 specific to the I777 and other S2 phones.

I wouldn't risk it. I'm pretty sure that Samsung will simply hook it up and flash it back to stock without worrying too much, however there's always that chance. They could see you voided your warrenty and Verizon could charge you for the Inc 2. (Worst case scenario)

This. My recommendation: download the stock DL09 from this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124391
Then update OTA to get to latest stock stuff. I know, we want to make fun of Verizon (I debated sending mine back with cm7) but better safe than sorry - remember this is a warranty swap and rooting voids your warranty.
I shipped it back with straight DI01 eclair. Nothing they can really say to that one.

[Q] USB jig

Edit 10/11/12
I received my jig from mobiletechvideos.com today. It worked as advertised. It reset the triangle, as well reset the custom binary download count to No, and reset current binary to "Samsung Official" even though I am running entropy512's 10092011 kernel.
Here is a link to a video, mine works just like the video
http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/blo...adds-sgs-ii-as-supported-jig-model/#more-1069
----------- original post below -------------
Has anyone tested a usb jig with the att gs2 yet?
It should work the same as with the i9100 version, but I was just wondering if anyone who has the phone that might have a jig and tested it yet.
I just tested my jig (I am rooted and had the triangle on my att version) and my count now says NO and the yellow triangle is gone.
Thanks, I wanted to just make sure before I bought our made one.

If I recall correctly, there are a few different possible resistor values for jigs? Which one is yours?
Now that I have a device with the bootloader counter, I need to get some resistors and finally open that package of MicroUSB breakouts from Sparkfun.
I'm considering buying the SGS II in the next week, what exactly does the Jig do? I didn't see much in terms of why you would need this for rooting so I figured I would inquire.
It will put your phone into download mode as long a your bootloaders are not corrupted (which can be done by other methods also), but more importantly it resets the binary flash counter to zero and removes the yellow triangle from the boot splash screen if you have a custom modified kernel or ROM flashed to your sgs2 phone.
All in all not a necessary device, but very useful to those who flash and modify their phone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
So if I am not mistaken it's just a way to prevent AT&T Support from visually seeing you have at somepoint flashed a different kernel and theoretically voided the warranty.

Oh that wouldn't bother me in the least considering how rarely I reboot my device. Thanks, I appreciate the help. I anticipate that the community will have roms churned out left and right for this device based off the ease of hacking and the number of ROMs that were available for the Captivate.

my captivate jig worked on the S II
I think we will see a few people with old jigs that do work and old jigs that don't and it will be because slightly off the mark resistance. I bet those whose old jig that does not work will just need to tweak their jig by an ohm or two.
By the way I ordered a jig from mobiletechvideos.com yesterday and I will report back on if it works when I get it here.

Do you recall how many ohms your jig is and what wattage? I built mine with 301 ohms @1/4 Watts. Would unbrick Captivate to DL mode, but not soft-bricked Infuse. It would put working Infuse into DL mode though?????

No Worries Needed...
well, you can be sure that in closed future you'll be able to unlock your bootloader but till that promotion you can simply root your device, install rom manager, flash clockworkmod recovery.

That sux man, I got my mopho off cowboom last week and it came with 2.3.4. If its ang consolation I tried cm9 but it wasnt polished to my liking as of yet (no chrome or opera browser and multitouch games sucked)
Pretty much only thing an unlocked bootloader will allow you is custom kernels and I personally love the stock 2.3.5 kernel

you might want to look into using PROMS to get your modding fix until we find a way around the fuse issue. i believe proms are themed roms that run over stock.

You need a computer to go back to bone stock.
It is a hell of a lot easier to use a PC following this.
If you for some reason can't connect to any PC you will have to download around 300mb+ worth of files.
Let me know and I can explain how, not sure if there is a guide for this yet but its simple.

Lol my mistake then
I could've returned it to bone stock. All you had to do was say it. Anyways, the easiest way like others are saying is, to use "Odin" and flash the OEM stuff with the PC.

I would like to know how you did it. My usb connection is very unreliable and it would be good to know how to go to stock if needed.
I think there is a mobile Odin out there or you can download a stock rooted version. I sent the gs2 to tat2messiah in a trade.

I'll post a quick how to with the file, since this question comes up a few random times.
I agree use Mobile Odin or better yet use your PC Odin to re-stock to absolutely new.
And everyone has issues with the USB! Just keep trying it works eventually.
