Hi,
I love my SGS2, but I've had one problem recurring since I bought it approx 6 months ago: music playback randomly goes into pause mode. It'll pause even when the phone is undisturbed on my desk.
It might happen after playing for a couple of hours, or it might do it after just a couple of minutes.
It occurred both with the stock music player, and also with PowerAmp and UberMusic.
Strangely I can't remember any podcasts played back via Google Listen pausing.
I took my first handset back and got a new one, but that's doing it too - so I'm about to post it off to the UK repair center... but it's obviously only worth doing that if the problem is hardware rather than software.
Does anyone else have this problem? Have you found a fix?
Presume you have tried factory restore before returning phone .

Yeah, I did it a couple of times with the previous phone, but there didn't seem to be any point with my current one, as it had paused when it was still in fresh-out-of-the-box state. (I should've taken it back straight away then, but then it did go through a long phase of working perfectly... though probably wasn't playing so much music then)

Yesterday my battery died half way through playing a game (not entirely unexpected, I'd been playing on my phone quite a bit that day and it still lasted 22-23 hours), I connected the charger that came with the phone and left it to charge while I got on with some uni work.
The phone vibrated to tell me the charge was complete so I disconnected the charger and turned the phone on as usual. After the samsung galaxy S2 splash screen, the screen lock appears and when I move it there are several error messages saying that various applications have had to stop (the main one seems to be TwLauncher but when I force close it, many others also force close). This continues for several seconds until the phone decides to restart itself and repeats the process ad infinitum until I can shut down the phone (I can manage this by not trying to get rid of the screen lock and just holding the power button until the menu appears).
I've had this phone a week (one of those days being today where it did not work at all) so it's still well within the return period but I was wondering if there is an obvious fix that I'm missing.
If not, I'll be ringing Samsung on Monday (I have coursework due for friday so I'll be devoting my samsung office hours time to that) and if they can't give me an easy fix I'll be ringing the place I bought it from and asking for an exchange.
So, has anyone else had similar issues and managed a simple fix?
Bump, I take it everyone else's phone is working then?
Giving this another bump in the hopes there's someone with a simple solution.
I don't want to have send my phone off and wait for the place to get stock.
there have been 2 firmware releases from samsung in the last couple of days, i assume you are running the latest firmware?
I can't even get the phone to stay on long enough for Kies to recognise it. It keeps restarting. Even when it was working I couldn't get Kies to work with it properly (I couldn't copy the contacts from the phone to the computer).
It's running the firmware it came with, but I can't check which version it is.
I was going to try flashing the new firmware via ODIN but I've been busy with coursework. Is this likely to solve the issue or will I just be giving the retailers ammo to reject my return?
go into recovery and do a factory reset

this is what I was looking for.
after googling, this sorted it out.
I just assumed download mode was the only other non-normal mode.
Thanks
Basic FAQs on the SGS1 forum mostly apply to SGS2 .Worth a look there before Google .

Another bug i expect
No sound plays, ringtones music nothing, camera says "Camera Failed" on launch and all videos show "cannot play this video"
Rebooted and still the same.
Oh what fun
I have seen the same loss of sound and video stopped playing, but for me rebooting has fixed it (so far )
I also have a suspicion that it's the audio service crashing which might be causing some of my spontaneous reboots...
Roll on the next update from Samsung... hopefully 2.3.4 which fixes some of the battery issues too.
Left it off for an hour and now seems to be ok

Factory reset if problem comes back .

Soundpool error
Just happened again, so I took a look in aLogCat...
Lots of Soundpool (2697) Error creating AudioTrack
My guess is that something is leaking audio streams and this stops any audio playing and the knock on effect is no video either
Not had it happen again (yet) ,
Lost trust in the phone, will it ring? will i miss an important call?, was happy with the G Tab thats the only reason i purchased the SGS2, oh well you live and learn.

I know how frustrating it must be, but it's only one phone out of how many thousands sold?
Just get it exchanged.
Factory reset cures many problems .

Cant do an exchange, only option is to send it away for a month for repair
It happened again, so I checked what happens when I get an incoming call...
No ring tone, only vibrate. When you answer the phone you can't hear the other person and they can't hear you... not great for a phone
It's clearly a bug given that the phone works fine for hours and then the audio service fails.
I run with audio clicks turned on, so it's obvious when it's failed, unlike a friend at work who runs his in silent mode...he also won't know when the phone has done a spontaneous reboot (mine did just now...sitting on the desk with screen off and locked).
Roll on XE3!
Mine done the same last night. I have turned on touch sounds for now. Also get reboots with it just sleeping on the shelf.
Strange as i have two SGSII and the other is fine. Both KE2

Done a factory reset as it was getting annoying. Now it's been 24 hours and i've counted 8 spontaneous reboots all while phone sleeping.

Hi,
I've a problem with my LG optimus net p690.
Sometimes it crashes and says "Crash! Please get Ramdump!" I will remove the battery and re-insert it and it starts working. But it happens atleast 4-5 times a day. It will not happen for a specific application or something like that, it will when am listening to music, when i recieve a call/sms, while charging and even when kept idle.
I did factory reset a lot of time but no luck. It will happen in all the ROMs including stock rom. I even restored it to stock rom by kdz updater but still had no luck.
Any help regarding this?
Thanks

Have you tried to do an full restore or a full wipe? Flash another ROM maybe soves the problem. RAMDUMP, maybe is caused by an app. The app stays in the memory and don't get out. That's it.
wiped cache a lot of times

Yup, I did it every time when I changed the ROM.
It started even before I root the phone. But after wiping cache also same thing's happening

nik263, i went to service centre and they replaced some part and returned it tome. they took only an hour to replace the part. LG knows about the issue andd they are working on it. as a temp workaround they are changing that part. after they replaced the part drastically it came down. earlier i used to get it atleast 5 - 6 times a day now only once in a day i am getting it.
I get it very often. Unfortunately sometimes during phone calls. I can reproduce this issue whenever needed by switching on the radio while the music player is already running. BAD!!!

bud, goto service center and they will replace a part (didn't get a hint what they replaced) and will return it in couple of hours. after replacing it also am getting it but it is drastically reduced, now am getting may be once in a week or 10days. thats the only solution
But now my phone is rooted and have custom rom flashed. I was in an impression that they will not consider it for warranty. I do not have my original rom;s backup. How did u manage?

LG optimus P690 crash
Hi All,
Even I am getting that crash. I was trying to downlaod files via bluetooth yesterday, though the space in the SD was low.
It was a whole lot of memory, alteast larger than the space left in the SD.
When I took a look at it, it was sort of off.
Then I have to take the battery out and the I restarted it.
Even then it was getting off, just after I am getting the display screen.
This is happening since yesterday, and I have already switched off my phone for around 15 times.
I could see that there is less than 100 MB left on the SD card.
What I observe is that only if the SD card is getting loaded in the first few minutes, my phone is crashing. and if it is not loading I could work on it for some time.
Please figure this out and let me know
Thanks in advance,
Ravi
Having same problem here. IM getting ramdump more often when IM on stock ROM. Does this have anything to do with heap size

I was quite shocked when i realised no sound plays after booting up my phone, even if i go into the music app to play music. Not even my touchscreen sounds are working. But it seemed to come back by itself after awhile. It can be quite annoying. Is this a software bug by samsung? Ive never had this problem with any android phone before.
Back up data and try factory reset first .

Yup that did the trick. Looks like my carrier screwed around with stuff. Thanks
Hi, having thought my s3 may have been showing early signs of sds, it certainly has symptoms related to it but there's some other weird stuff going on which I've never seen anyone else mentioning on here.
I've had static come out the internal speaker during the Samsung boot logo, instead of hearing the little tune that plays, I've also had that tune play but at a very low tempo, sounds very weird when it does that. While the phone was idle earlier the speaker decided to throw out more static so while it was happening I started up the music player app and selected an mp3, the static pretty much stopped when the mp3 started playing but the song was playing at a very low tempo, incredibly slow, just like I've experienced during boot with the Samsung logo animation, I tried a few more mp3s, they all played at a very low tempo, each time I stopped the music player the static noise would come back.
Anyway I restarted the phone and now I've got no sound at all, looks like my motherboard has issues but I don't think it's all related to sds.
Has anyone else had issues with random static noise from the internal speaker or sounds playing at a very low tempo.

None of that is SDS, which is when your memory controller chip fails and your phone won't boot.
You either have corrupt rom or added mods, so flash a fresh stock rom to cure, or you have a hardware fault in the sound maker.
Only ever ran stock, never been rooted or used any mods, I'm guessing hardware fault. Took the battery out for a few minutes, that got the sound back working correctly but the random reboots and weird sound issues keep happening.

Step one back up data.
Step two factory reset.
Step three test .
Step four restore data .
Step five either service centre under warranty
Or flash stock rom see faqs and guides .

Thanks but those steps I'd already taken, more than once, what I've done now is taken out the official extended battery I was using and gone back to the original one, I'm still testing but so far so good, it's looking like I may have a faulty battery.
