I monitored my signal levels on my Nexus One for WCDMA only for 5 minutes before the I patched to the new radio, 5 minutes after, and 5 minutes with my wifes Cliq
Before (Stationary UE and it constantly performed idle-mode handovers between 4 different cell's)
32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2
-97 dBm 8asu
-111 1 ,-101 6 ,-111 1 ,-107 3 ,-103 5 ,-107 3 ,-111 1 ,-99 7 ,-107 3 ,-111 1 ,-107 3
After the patch:
-97 8, , -101 6, -97 8, -101 6, -99 7, -101 6, -103 5, -101 6, -103 5, -101 6, -99 7
CLIQ in same exact stationary location:
-105 4, -99 7, -101 6
---------------
Some things to note..
Before upgrade, avg dbm=106.8
After upgrade, avg dbm=100.27
CLIQ avg dbm=100.66
Before upgrade in that 5 minute interval I performed idle mode handovers to 4 different cells while remaining stationary
After upgrade in that 5 minute interval I remained on the same cell.

So, it helped then?
just the radio or the full rom? or radio + RIL?
dont really need a complete new thread for this since there is one for the rom and the radio is part of the discussion.

Thanks for the helpful post. That thread has already gone way off topic with a wide tangent of "will i lose root" about 14 times.
In anycase, from the analysis above, the new radio does seem to help a substantial amount. At that point I had only applied the radio, have not applied anything else.
Radio seems better here. Previously, it was taking several seconds to make an outbound call here, now much faster.
Also, I pulled a 900kb/s speedtest when I'd nvere seen more than 300 or so here with the old radio.

Did you see your connection fluctuate between the 3G symbol and 'H' before? Do you see it now?
I've applied the new radio(and only the radio) on top of Cyan b5, and have still been seeing that. I'll know for sure if there's a difference when I get home, which is where I was really having issues. At work, I get full bars, but the data conenction just bounces between 3G and HSDPA

The 3G -> H fluctuation is actually OK and won't affect you...
3G means you are in UMTS coverage... H simply means you are accessing HSDPA or Data services.

switching between 3g and H is normal.constant switching between 3g and E is not.

Excellent, I'm hoping this is the fix we've been awaiting. That previous radio patch didn't do much, for me at least.
can i flash the new radio update.zip if i have a stock, un-rooted phone through recovery?

Like Justin mentioned it is a Cyanogen mod.. if you go into phone info:
Dialer -> *#*#INFO#*#* -> Phone Info
You can see network type will show UMTS and will show HSDPA (i believe) when it accesses data services.

I believe you can flash the new radio w/an un-rooted phone. Modaco has a radio update image with an executable batch file, you'd only need to put your phone in boot loader and run the .bat file after extracting all files in the same dir.

Don't flash it through recovery.. extract it to your computer, connect via USB and execute the batch file.

does anybody here have terrible download speeds on tmobile?
i had a note 2 and averaged about 15mbps down and 1ombps up, the ascend mate 2 i am luck to get 1mbps down, and get around 4mbps up. is there something i need to optimize on here, or change any settings?
any help is appreciated.
Chicagoland area
Getting average 20 mbps got as much as 47 mbps
No changes to default settings
Check with tmobile maybe you used up data?
I can't use up my data. It's unlimited non throttled.
Sent from my MT2L03 using XDA Free mobile app
I can get 25 to 30 download speed
Not bad LTE speeds!
Did somebody here test the Wlan speed from the device ?
I have a european Honor 7. in the technical features it has AC Wlan. But my fastes connection is 200 mbit sitting 1 meter from my Netgear Nighthawk R8000 ( 1300 mbit)
my fritzbox 7490 the same it connects only to the 40MHz Band ......for me it has only Wlan-N standard .My Galaxy S6 edge shows 850 mbit .
mybe its a softwarebug or Honor is joking us?
Which app are you using to measure? I could test the same on my Asus 66 and share.
Set your wireless router to set only on ac mode and check if you have option in router
The theoretical speed has very little to do with real world speed. I get 90 mbit/s up as well as down speed with file transfer tests. This is about what you can expect from a single tiny antenna with ac in a phone. This is way bettet than I have hade with other ac phones.
I have a Netgear R7000 router and 100/100 fiber.
Skickat från min PLK-L01 via Tapatalk
my Galaxy S6 shows 800 mbit network speed in wlan settings..my Honor max 200 mbit.Honor can only connect to 40 Hz Band but my S6 to 80 Hz
On my tests with Honor 7 I receive next results (to/from FTP server in my local net) :
150Mbit connect, 5 Ghz band, N protocol (my wifi router is N only, no AC)
~13 Mbytes/sec download, ~14.5-15 Mbytes/sec upload .
With AC wifi AP you may receive more speed.
It's very good result for mobile phone, more that really need in a smartphone.

With all respect, it bothers me to the brim when someone questions in this kind of forums (developers, diy, craft, etc...) if some other user needs or doesn't need. It's not that we need it, it's that we can, it's that we want to do it, because it can be done, the device specs tell you you can. That's why we are hobbyists.
I'm getting also only
I'm also getting 200mbps on honor 7 when using android 6.0 but before on android 5.x I got 433 ,so something is wrong with the new update ?
Limited to 8 users on hotspot ? Or is there a workaround? Use galaxy tools on my note 4 to set any number.
With all my smarthome gear I get up to 15 connections with company, Over 10 normally
Looking to upgrade phones and switch to T-Mobile but wondering if I'm better off getting a T-Mobile note 4 first that I can use as my home Wi-Fi. Vs a note 8 or 9 that will likely be overkill for just a hotspot line that only supports 8 connections Max.

I've never had that many devices hooked to my phone at once to test max users..lol. It does say 8 devices max in settings though. I went from note 4 to the note 8 and my dl speeds are Awesome with Tmobile!
Wow
Those speeds are blazing in comparison.
I'm getting 25-40 down and 3-7 up
Been reading about T-Mobile hotspot throttling though. Cable company wants 6 grand to install cable. I use around 100gb a month and even when I'm over my 4g limit of 50g I rarely see a noticeable decline in speeds. Possibly due to my rural location.
Waiting for note 10 now to see if there are any pricing deals. Seems 400-600 is going rate for a good used 9 now. Not interested in the 8 anymore really. People still want to much for it in comparison.
I have already unlocked, rooted and enabled wifi bonding for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and still my mi note 10 lite has 65 mbps link speed while other devices have 150 mbps. Any other fix?
Hi,
I have no solution to your problem but I have 300+ Mbit when sittting about 8 m from the router which is on another floor. Have not done anything to the phone.
I have a 500/100 line.
My connection is only 100mbps, and thats the speed im getting. Completely stock. Sure its not router fault or something?
Solved! Just factory reset my router and i get 150 mbps link speed and my full speed of my internet connection! It still needed to root again and enable wifi bonding to get more than 72 mbps because of update
Hello dear . i have found the same issue with wifi i figured redmi note 9s has 144mbps link speed while mi 10 lite has just 72 .. if you have found any soloution pleas let me know.

Unlock bootloader, root with the tutorial they have in xda without twrp and then just go to magisk manager and find the wifi bonding module.
