Hey all,
Something is cutting my battery in half by midday where that never used to happen until evening with this extended battery on my Rezound.
I haven't even made any calls or used the camera. I would say I was actually using the phone for est than 1/2 hour collectively. No new apps have been installed. I attached some screen caps.
Interesting....
Thanks,
Matt!

Edit: whoops, just noticed you said you are running the extended. That resembles my std batt. Wonder what's up?
Click display, how long has your screen been on for? I just got 29 1/2 hours on my last charge. I have the extended battery also.
Display was on for 1.5 hours on Auto.

Wait a minute.... That's I'm possible. That means my screen was on for roughly 1/5 of the time that my phone has been off of the charger. No way. Super lights use today (maybe 30 minutes tops) and i shut the screen off every time I holster. I haven't seen the Screens on by itself at all either...? Hhmm... Nothing is running that would activate the screen either....
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
Oddly enough, my Wife told me that her phone did the exact same thing today.... I wonder if it could be something with the network in the area!
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
OK....
Today I used my phone a lot more and it has been off of the charger for much longer and the battery is down only a FRACTION compared to yesterday. I am in the same areas I was in as far as coverage and everything. Below is a pic to compare to my OP.
Could it be network related?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Matt!

There have been LTE issues around the country the last two days.
Sent from my HTC
LTE 4G Rezound
I had this issue yesterday!! I was at home all day using my wifi and my battery drained big time. I was at 63% by 2pm so I had to charge it since last night was my hubby and my anniversary and we were going out!! I had not even done anything on my phone. I had been busy knitting (haha yes I knit) LOL
I've had the same issue, I put my phone in airplane mode to see if it'd help. I believe it lasted much longer, unless its just the placebo affect, while occasionally taking it off to check for any messages. It's less than practical, but it works.
That new curve looks a lot more like my typical curve. I average 28-35 hours on my extended battery. I leave it unplugged at night now just because, lol.

I think it looks like bad phone signal. I've had that happen when I'm at my house where I barely get 2 bars sometimes
Sent from my HTC Rezound
Could be the fact that your screen is turning on in your pocket. Because it's in your pocket and you have auto brightness, it would make your screen be at 100%. Try the app screebl and see if that helps

Alright, I've read countless "photon battery issue" threads and none really have a good answer but this is just ridiculous:

I went to bed with the thing charged to 100%, wake up 8hrs later, not having used it once and its at 50%... okay, whatever, I guess it was about 8 hours...
So I charge it to 80% then go work-out for about maybe 2 hours and when I'm done the SOB is at 40%- I DIDN'T TOUCH IT THE WHOLE TIME! I DON'T THINK IT EVEN CHARGES THAT FAST! I don't care if it was searching for signal the whole time, which it shouldn't have, WTF?!
Other anecdotal stories: I'm fanatical about battery life and always charge it full before going out for the night or something and I'm usually lucky to make it to bar close, a total time span of MAYBE 5 hours. How is this even possible?! The damn thing is supposed to have a 10 hour talk time?! Even if I was on the phone the whole time (which not even close, just txting and using it when you're awkwardly alone while your friend goes to the bathroom)- WTF!?
I'm extremely vigilant about charging and monitoring battery life and despite my best efforts I get burned constantly. I even have this thing on airplane mode at work (in a basement) cause it will be dead by the end of my shift.
Any one use a rom that gives a noticeable increase in battery life? Doesn't seem like many of them are mature enough. Juice defender doesn't seem to help much... do I have any decent options? I may start carrying around a second battery but seriously, that's a bit silly.
/venting.
you have a bad battery, just call up Motorola and see if your still under warranty, if so, have them send you one, that's what i did and i've noticed a substantial increase in battery life
Hey man, did you calibrate your battery when flashing roms? Battery will die faster when dont calibrate. Currently which rom are you on. also check some programs that might run in the background. Right now, im getting about 17 hours, but i am over clocked and under volting this bad boy. I posted my battery life prior to running jokers ROM. Check it out.

I think I have some issues with my battery as well. It discharges fast! I usually have it full all the time but the times where I have left it discharge cause I'm lazy I wonder how everyone post pics with 13+ hrs when I feel like my won't get even 10. Btw, my battery has been in water for a brief moment idk if that affects it somehow?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
In my experience, bad battery life is usually related to some apps or settings wrecking havoc in the background. Unless you happen to have a phone with LTE and a smaller battery of course.
I always get an average of 30 to 40 hours on one charge with moderate use on my Photon, stock rooted...
For me, live wallpapers demolished my battery life. Also, I completely formatted sd internal before flashing joker skinny.
No rom here, just rooted- lime green theme. I didnt calibrate but for a theme i shouldn't need to? Ill look into getting a battery from moto, no reason i shouldn't be covered.... Aside from rooting that is. Also wouldnt phantom app drain show in the pics posted?

Get betterbatterystats and check for wakelocks etc, something is stuck full throttle in the background

How much screen on time did you have? how long has it been since you flashed your current set up?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
sorry forgot that shot....i rooted and flashed on either Sunday or Monday this week.....now i do use bluetooth for work so i'm thinking that kills the battery big time....
That is kind of good battery life considering you got almost four hours of screen on time. If your really worried then you should get one of the 3500 mah batteries. I have this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21589969. This battery gets me through at least a day and a half of heavy usage, and it works great for the price.
yeah i wasn't sure...i always keep reading about people getting 1.5-2 days on a battery...it's a new toy so hopefully when the excitement wears off that screen won't be on so much
That's exactly what will happen. You have new phone syndrome. I did too, when I first got my Galaxy S2. Except that I, unlike you, was running stock unrooted, and my battery life was more like 8 hours. I'm now running stock rooted with Entropy's kernel, plus I don't use my phone as much, and I get between 15 and 20 hours.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Yeah...with almost 4 hours screen on, and mostly on cell data (assumption based on your 2.x hours of wifi on) that isn't too horrible. Your total awake time is about an hour more than screen on, so assuming you had phone calls, music playing, or some other screen off background task to account for some of that, you're doing pretty good...

LOL so I'm guessing the best way to really conserve battery is to keep the screen off. Just outta curiousity (which I will test tonight after full charge) what is an acceptable drop rate when phone is fully asleep for say 8 hours or so. Like what 1-2% an hour?

I think the best I have seen reported is 0.5% per hour. Mine on wifi has been as good as about 0.8% per hour, but usually a little over 1%.

2%/hour idle drain I consider bad - that's why I haven't released a kernel since 1/2/2012 - I have a power management regression that pushes drain to a bit over 2%/hour when connected to wifi.
I strive for 0.5%/hour and get very close to that frequently when in a good signal area. In a weak signal area (like at my desk at work), it's around 1%/hour.
4.5%/hour or so is the idle drain you'll get if the phone is unable to enter deep sleep.
Here is my result with a fair amour of use after maybe 5 cycles on my batt.

I spent a lot of my time outside this weekend so I would say my phone usage was "lite" but I got over 36 hours and still had 30% left. Today I've been on it all day and im at 55% and I've been off the charger for 10 hours. The battery is a LOT better than my OG Evo but I'm SERIOUSLY impressed with this phones ability to "sleep"
I'm reading 59% after 7 hours and my first day of usage. My EVO 4G would have kicked the bucket hours ago. Though I haven't ran any hogging apps today, I have had my phone on a lot.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but in the sprint zone app, under my device and power, it lists what is using power the most and has a quick button for putting your phone into a low power mode for saving battery. Neat.

I really want to test to see how my phone handles everything at once. This is not how i usually use the phone at all. I normally do everything manually when i need it or just not link it to my phone period. I am liking these kinda of results.
Screen autobrightness
4hrs screen on time
2 emails push
Facebook push
Weather update every hour
switched between wifi and 3g but stayed on 3g most of the time
Took lots of pictures out with the family and uploaded some to facebook

Think so? I don't remember my last phone waking up so many times. It looks like each wakeup was short but a lot of them. I well ill see how it lasts throughout the day.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Maybe..... Because you had wifi on and have yet to tone down the sync settings. And since wifi is on its waking to since pretty often.
But the real problem probably is that the phone is brand new it takes a few days for battery reporting to calibrate properly. After a few days im sure you'll be fine.

I'm on viper4g my battery life on stock kernel has always been good on jellybean typically still have well over 50% by the end of my day just using my phone intermittent browsing Xda on my break at work or what have you. The other day this battery drain kicks in and I couldn't find a runaway app or anything that had change significantly bring it about. I heard about this app gsam battery monitor and have been using it only problem is the percentages are going way over 100% for phone signal I can't make out what the issue even is. From my understanding having a high percentage for screen is good since that means the power is drawing primarily from the display being on as oppose to data or radio having drain when you are not using them.

My house gets a weak signal but that hasn't ever been a huge factor...when it drains it does even when I'm working in town where there's good reception.

Strange wish I could pinpoint what happened, it appears I'm back on track now but I'm weary of phone signal % creeping back up near or over 50%
I had the same problem when i was running viper a couple of weeks ago and i just switched to a stock rom and knock on wood my battery lasts me the whole day.
Well vipers Rom isn't built to hold a charge for along time what they emphasized on was the ability to customize just about everything which seperates it from the rest.
