Need someone who wants US HC S-OFF - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Ok, need someone who wants to go S-OFF on US version of honeycomb.
I'll walk you through the procedure for the upgrade and in return I'll need you to upload a couple of files for me at the end.
I won't be in a position to do this until ~ 2PM eastern tomorrow, but any time from them until 7PM or 8PM will work.

What are the requirements? I'm currently running a stock GB Flyer.
Sent from GrandAdmiral's phone using Tapatalk.

Revolutionary S-OFF on honeycomb. Stock recovery ( say no to cwm in revolutionary or reflash stock recovery). Nothing else.

Hell, I can even do it without S-OFF at all.

Ok. So basically I need to go through Part 1 of your upgrade thread?

Let me check my upgrade thread

Basically to prepare, you should do the steps in the first gray box here:

I'm willing to do the upgrade with you.
My Flyer is S-Off with revolutionary.
I currently have the stock recovery.
Root was obtained with Gingerbreak, found here

As am I. I'm running stock GB, unrooted, S-off revolutionary. Let me know what you need for me to do next either here or PM me. I'll be ready to start no later than about 730 PM EST.

i would like this, my end goal is Rooted HC, i have a BBY Wifi Flyer currently with S-OFF, I had revolutionary, and rooted GB flyer, and reverted back to non rooted i think, but boot loader still shows rev on the top and S-off. I tried the OTA as i currenly sit and had to revert back due to the HTC White screen(soft brick). I am a Software integration Tech on Linux systems so im not completly stupid, just slow at times ;-P I am back to the reverted GB using the (pg41....zip file being on a sd card after soft brick... any help? oh and if you want to start a thread when you do this i'll be here tomorrow after 630ish est

Even if you return to stock, after using the HTC Unlock method, your bootloader will show "RE-LOCKED"......At least according to this thread here:

Na from what I've read you can still flash roms and kernels just threw fastboot if I'm not mistaken. Check out the dev- section for the how to's. Might want to setup adb on your laptop/pc as well. Also you can try an ruu. Or you can do an in home replacement swap. They should be able to send the phone to you, better the factory get the phone were they will be less likely to care than sprint. Imo that is.

Whether or not the Sprint Store will allow you to exchange the device is all up to them. The proces for returning an HTC method lock/unlocked device to Stock should result in the bootloader displaying *Relocked*.
As far as we've seen, there is no published/public method of bypassing this process. Very little has been said from the developer community on the details/inner workings of Hboot 1.5. The Sprint store, if they boot the device into the bootloader mode, will at least know you *Relocked* the device. I would imagine, if you could promise/ensure the Sprint Store Tech you've restored the phone back to stock and then relocked, following HTC directions, they *should* be okay with the process, but in the end, it is up to them.
Of course, capitalism provides competition, even with a Monopoly. If one Sprint store isn't willing to take your business and exchange the device, another store might be willing. The only incentive on their part would be for future customer loyalty .. but this is probably more off topic.
I haven't seen any Sprint official posts or messages on how they will handle *relocked* devices.
If anything I've stated isn't correctly, I'm sure somebody will post up with more informed information. Perhaps a Sprint Tech or two might come across this thread and clarify on their internal process/policy.
Let us know how it turns out. Best of luck!
Thanks I am going to do this after work and take it to them right after hopefully....

What exactly does the RUU do ? what will it allow me to accomplish. will it allow me to downgrade from HBOOT 1.5 ?
I took the OTA update shortly after purchasing my EVO, prior to knowing what it was all about.

RUU does not downgrade because you can't downgrade from hboot 1.50 as of now. It is used to revert you back to stock and unroot I believe.

Clarification - S-Off and Root - HC to GB possible if you didn't OTA?

Good Morning All,
Just wanted to see if someone can clarify if I don't OTA and flash HONEYCOMB manually through CWM is it possible to go back to GINGERBREAD at a later date?
I'm hoping so, I've seen that notification for the system update and its driving me crazy.
Last thing we would want is to be stuck on Honeycomb.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P512 using xda premium
You're not stuck on Honeycomb anymore even if you install the OTA Honeycomb update. HTC has officially added the View to the devices that can be unlocked, and globatron has released a procedure that allows you to rollback to Gingerbread from the OTA Honeycomb: Honeycomb to gingerbread downgrade for Official OTA. So, I'd say if you can go back to Gingerbread from stock, OTA Honeycomb, you should certainly be able to go back to Gingerbread if you install the S-OFF version of Honeycomb.

Ah. I didn't see a prefix on the thread title, and since most of the questions on that topic lately have been for the View, I made an incorrect assumption. Should have read your signature. There's so much going on for both these days that they really need separate forums for everything and not just development.
Yes, entirely possible, but you can't flash HC from CWM, you have to upgrade. Thread in the dev forum...
The instructions for doing so are in post three of the Honeycomb S-OFF thread for the flyer. A simpler procedure will follow in the next few days.

So after roughly a week and few days my 3vo which I had only two days with before sending in, is coming back with all new front assembly, very excited! Now I'm curious I have not gottena chance to root this phone but I do know it is on 1.5 hboot will that be a serious problem or is there a decent work around?

Try rooting a Samsung. I don't know about now but before it was a pain in the butt to get the rooting program to run right. That's another reason why ibloved HTC. Everything was manual and less stressful.

After coming from rooting my LG (press a button in superonclick to root, then running a batch file to put on CWM), the htc is a mega pain to get access.
The common theme I've noticed after being in 3 different sub-forums is that all users complain about the manufacturers not releasing code. I'm not surprised the companies don't but it makes everything so hard. So just realise it isn't just HTC being a pain it's pretty much every company.
Very glad that there is hope for 1.5's Hbooters I do wonder what hboot version HTC will try to enforce on the E3D when ICS comes via OTA.

Decline EVO update?

Hey guys, finally upgraded to the LTE after having the original EVO since launch day. Anyway, I just got the phone yesterday and a notification keeps pestering me to take a "system update." I wish to root in the future, so am I right in assuming I shouldn't take this? If so, how do I dismiss the notification? Thanks. Sorry if this is noobish, I haven't been in the game for a while.
You should be fine to root regardless.

I would decline the update. Check your hboot number and proceed from there if you're planning to obtain S-OFF.
Yea, if you have hboot 1.12, don't update. If I were you and it was hboot 1.12, I would root and s-off, then flash the latest stock rooted rom
Decline the update if you planning on getting root and S-off. is more easy to achieve it with the olders software.

There is actually S-OFF methods for all HBOOTs (1.12,1.15, and 1.19). If you are still on HBOOT 1.12 use lazypanda. If you are on anything higher just use dirtyracun.
Thanks everyone. I definitely plan on attaining S-off. I'm on hboot 1.15.

I always wait a week before updating, unless you want done of the nasty surprise.
Dirty racun seems really intimidating. I Only have 64-bit windows 7 computers and no blank cd to run ubuntu anyway so I'm out of luck. Is flashing roms with s-on easier than gaining s-off? I'm considering working that way instead.

You dont need a blank cd to boot ubuntu, you can do it right of a usb memory stick.
I was going to try that, but I read through the thread and lady x was pretty adamant about USB sticks causing some sort of problem that they wouldn't help with.

What u can do is create a vhd or another partition and run ubuntu on a USB and install it on the VHD/partition. Then reboot into it and follow the process. When ur done its as simple as removing the VHD/Partition and readding the space back to ur main HDD

Preparations To Sell

So im getting ready to sell my old rezound and its been a while since ive done anything to it.(gotten used to galaxy s3 stuff)
What should I flash to get it back to stock for swappa?
Also should I leave it S-OFF? bootloader update?
(will update with firmware and bootloader info. its dead right now)
Update:
Unlocked
Vigor PVT Ship S-OFF RL
Hboot-2.27.0000
Radio-2.22.10.0001r/2.22.10.0803r
Since there's no ruu of the official global update yet, I would find the latest ICS ruu that isn't a leak, flash that in hboot then go through all the updates like you normally would. I would personally leave it s-off because your potential buyer may want to throw custom stuff. If they don't, it won't make a difference anyway. If you decide to take it back to s-on just make sure you do the steps outlined above before you switch the security flag.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
best thing is to just leave it rooted and put in the description will lock phone if buyer wants it. many people likes phones already rooted with soff and beings the rezound can scare people from doing the s off because of shorting out the phone to achieve s off.

Hmmm. The PH98IMG zip is probably what you're going to need but to be honest I dont know where it is. Here is a link to the executable, but I don't know if it will work since you're on the global leak. I guess it's worth a shot. There's also a way to pull the firmware zip and Rom from that file but I forgot how to do it, and it would probably be easiest to find the packaged PH98IMG if the exe doesn't work.
