My DX2 never charges to %100, I've tried the battery calibration app, no luck. I even tried to remove battery method, but it just boots into recovery, presumably because of bootstrap. I just flashed Eclipse 1.3, so I know I need to recalibrate the battery. Any suggestions?
For the remove battery method, you have to set it to charge mode in the bootstrap app. Then shut the phone down and give it a try.
That makes sense, thanks alot.
What % does it make it to before it stops rising?
Full is around 4200mv.

So, my phone showed me at 4200mv when I went into the battery calibration app.
I reset my bat stats because I hadn't since I flashed 2.0.3.
Do we recalibrate to make sure that 4200mv is truly charging up to 4200mv?

I know, it's a bit much. The phone's fast, but somethings working too much. I will say I did run HBO GO for about an 1hr to 1.5hr to check the unthrottle for the guy in the other thread.
Anybody know what to get rid of?
Made it so only one instance of OOM Groupings and Minfree values are running.
I want to look over my settings with some of the universal tweaks this guy listed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426443 I might try a few.
I also need to find an app that lists out every app and how long each runs and how long it uses data.
Is it kosher to have a thread where people list out what they are running with detailed results on performance - speed/battery? I'm a bit embarrassed to be the first guy and a Dev tears apart my post for running every tweak/script/edit in the boards.

streaming movies over 3g is what is sucking ur battery life like a hungry baby on a u.know what
that coupled with the display being on that long will chew up battery life. Id say.it could EASILY drain at least half your battery.
There is really nothing much that can be done to improve battery.life aside from managing diligently: screen on time , kill your 3g radio data when not using , leave off gps, etc...
Since we don't have ability to use custom kernels and.over/under clock and undervolt there is really very little u can do to improve battery apart from use management .
I realized after I posted that it probably wasn't best to post info on an abnormal day like today. I rarely stream movies on 3g because I know how much battery it eats. Was just checking to see if the unthrottle was true.
I was foolish to think there would be a quick answer that I hadn't seen yet. I'm going to start reading up on changes in settings.

Anyhow, I just recently installed V6 and everything is absolutely great - except my battery goes down faster than <insert whatever reference you want here..hockey goalie, boxing, sexual>
I initially tried flashing over V5 and that's when the issue started - V5 was fine the way it was, but was starting to eat up the battery a little quicker - maybe due to a couple of new apps installed? did a full wipe and reinstalled v6 and am experiencing the same issue
I don't know if it's a problem with my actual battery or what...anyone have any suggestions?
Fully charge the battery until the green charged light goes off then reboot into XRecovery and wipe your battery stats.

Alternatively, there's the battery calibration app.
Alternatively, build your own stock ROM. Wolfs ROM has IMHO too many uneccesary tweaks that drain the battery... although his performance ROM has awesome battery (I'm using it right now)... lol I dunno why..

Well its tough to explain u, but use set cpu and reduce the maximum processing speed to 384. The battery will be consumed to the lowest. I have done the same. And my x10 works for min 1.5 day.

Not sure if my problem is the same but my phone WB v6 (even on v5) will turn off when used heavily i guess (less than 5min video games seem to be ok but other apps will do it randomly). but the battery will say like 65% whatever it should be from the use so far after a reboot most of the time i have then same % as before the umm crash but sometimes it shows 25% and turns off then if i leave it for a bet i get back to the higher % but will still crash with a little app use. Frustrating as i LOVE the ROM!
So far no crash during phone calls. But the crashes are no rhyme or reason. I have tried calibrating and full flash but it came back.
(would have posted in the ROM thread but i have too few postes and this seemed a better place)
Hung Wei Lo: which version are you using? Try lowering min frequency, adjust settings (like brightness). I'm on v6 with Freekernel and I get 2-3 days on a full charge. Maybe an app is preventing your phone from entering deep sleep.
Rabbit Stew: are you overclocking? Try a full wipe including battery stats, then installing v6s. The stock version should be the most stable.
Here's two methods that work for me.
To me the battery calibration app, is USELESS, no offence to the developer.
1. Wiping battery stats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943626
or
2. Optimizing battery with just a charger and phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071885
Don't go anymore then 5 tries.
I figured I'd give an update on this..
Things had magically sorted themselves out - battery life got better and better each day, though not to the point most of you are getting (I'm talking MAYBE 14 hours of minimal usage - the odd facebook check, random text message etc)
As suggested, I've set the min. frequency to the lowest possible, screen timeout is at like 30 seconds
As of the past couple of days, I've been getting half that...no new apps installed all the same settings...wifi is off, brightness is set to 25%, no gps usage all I have on is data. As an example, I charged her up and unplugged it with an hour to go before I was done at work. an hour ride on the subway doing nothing but listening to some tunes, and I'm down to 60%...in two hours
I'm at wits end here...according to cpu spy here are my most recent stats:
998 - 0:01:49 - 35%
576 - 0:00:-4 - 1%
384 - 0:00:03 - 3%
245 - 0:00:52 - 17%
deep sleep - 0:02:11 - 42%
thoughts (related to this issue)? suggestions? ideas?
is calibrating the battery will solve the phone randomly restart??
In my infinite wisdom, I'd have to seriously doubt it...did you do a fresh install?
Hi all, I'm new to this part of the xda forums as I had a nexus before, just got the upgrade to the Atrix, rooting, unlocking of bootloader everything went well but I just flashed Aura's from with feux kernel and im getting really really bad battery life, like I'm talking 4-5 hours. There is one process thats really confusing me, its just called "x" and its sitting there taking about 35% battery, my screen is taking 55% battery.
It's getting really annoying as my nexus used to give me about 12 hours and the only reason I moved to the atrix was to get the better battery life that I saw with all my atrix touting friends (they all had 1-2 days battery life) I'm about to flash homebase and see if that fixes it but I don't know whats going on. I have a UK MB860 and I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196747&highlight=t-mobile+root to root. Pleaseee can someone help!
X is the webtop and there is a fix somewhere for that (doesn't completely work). Just flash CM7 beta. Its much better than any other ROM and has the best battery life. Everything except the finger print scanner and webtop work.
Also I had really good battery on the Ying Yang ROM.

I think I might give CM7 a go you know, I loved CM on the nexus, even after it killed the memory chips it was still good! Im going to try it, is it really stable?
EDIT:
since updating to CM7 and Wiping my battery stats I have some how gained 39% battery!

I've had great battery life on the atrix, now I'm getting a good look at the atrix on the 4800mah battery. I'm a heavy user and I could not get over 24 hours. And now I have 59 hours and I have yet to actually see how far I can take it. Cm7 beta. Juicey....
I find that all gingerbread roms have horrible battery life compared to froyo on the atrix. Cm7 battery is worse but the phone is smoother. Faux 1.3ghz kernel has even worse battery.
Regardless of the radio or magical method of resetting the battery state you use.
1:25 screen time and at 47% battery. Been off the charger for 6:15. It will make it through my 10hr shift with about 20% remaining if I'm lucky, usually I just toss it on the charger.

I was just about to post that lol. Also make sure every time you flash a new rom you are at 100% if not that is a sure fire way to cheat yourself out of battery life. I don't know if I'm just one of "the lucky ones" but I easily get over 16+ hours with moderate usage. I'm running CM7 beta with quite a few things frozen.
Ok so I followed the guide to perfection and it didn't improve the battery life one bit! I'm trying hard to find a t-mobile radio I can flash as I have read around it could be my radio that is the culprit and I am also getting rubbish HSDPA readings, I should be getting full bars but since switching to homebase Im only getting one bar.
Using watchdog I have noticed that the Xorg process is using over 50% cpu which does not seem right to be and I believe that because its a linux process Watchdog can't kill it. Is there anyway of fixing this?
1) Uninstall Tango, Facebook and Handcent SMS if any of the three are installed. They are huge battery drainers and you can find less battery hogging substitutes
2) Freeze any unnecessary apps, I believe there is a thread somewhere in the General section that has a pretty decent freeze list (if you flash CM7, you will have very little to freeze but that's good!)
3) Keep brightness down to a minimum when you can, I've noticed kicking the brightness up rather high can be pretty demanding on your battery
4) Set SetCPU Profiles to something like this...
Screen Off 216/216
Charging 1100/216
In Call 456/216
Battery <20% 456/216
Battery <10% 216/216
5) If you have the proper kernel set the CPU govner to power saver.
6) Undervolt, test yours and never apply set on boot unless you are positive it's stable, mine are something like this...
1100 MHz -50mV
1000 MHz -50mV
912 MHz -50mV
750 MHz -50mV
608 MHz -100mV
456 MHz -150mV
216 MHz -200mV
This way when you're phone is idling with the screen off, in a call or low on battery it is undervolting heavily to save maximum amounts of battery
With this setup I can get 30+ hours pretty regularly with moderate-to-heavy usage (weekdays/non-work days), 22-25 hours with more heavy usage (work days) and close to 48 hours with little usage (weekends).
It all depends on your usage and your phone but I have found this setup here to work fairly well.
I am currently on CM7 Beta, stock CM7 radio and stock CM7 kernel, running at 1100/216 when above profile conditions aren't met. 32% been running since 9 am this morning, it is now 3:15 am, today was a long workday.
I can almost guarantee (almost) that its your rom/kernel combination. Had same problem til I changed.

I'm now using faux kernel for CM7 and that hasn't improved anything, in fact I think it it has made it worse. It's getting really irretating because using the watch dog app it always says there is one linux process on every rom I use that is clocking at over 50% cpu usage and It won't let me kill it (probably because it's a linux process), its really annoying me because all I want is my phone to work properly but to enjoy the full rooting experience. I know countless amounts of people with atrix's and they get a full day and a bit out of their phone with heavy usage i can't even manage 10 hours!

Watchdog eats battery like a mthrfckr, get away from that. Install BetterBatterStats instead & look for wakelocks. Which linux process are you noticing with that high cpu usage?
How many hours of screen time do you get in those 10 hrs?
Have you tried with a fastboot wipe & internal storage format prior to installing a new rom? Are you using the latest recommended radio for your phone?

Turn background syncing off if you are using that, and get in the habit of doing manual updates.
Too many times (with ANY Android device) people leave background syncing on and it tries sending/receiving data in a weak signal spot when you don't realize it. That's like a hot knife through butter on a battery.
Leave syncing off permanently if possible! That's a huge improvement right there for anyone...

That's a bit radical, no?
I'd say use Green Power so the phone can update every half hour or hour. It's a smartphone at the end of the day..
Ok, for the first week I had my galaxy s2 my battery would be like 75% after low usage. Now after following the root guide. Then updating it to entropies DD I have terrible life. It seems like even on light usage I lose over 10% an hour. I can't say for sure when it happened. I want to say it wasn't immediatly after the root, but within a week of it.
Here's a pic of the battery life:
Well there would be a pic if I had enough post to post a pic. Anyways it shows my android OS using 71%
It shows that I have a 41% charge at 7:15pm after an hour charge from noon to 1pm that brought it upto 75%. The only thing I've done is text the wife half a dozen times.
Is there anything else I need to log or post to help troubleshoot this?
I love having my phone rooted, and I would hate to have to flash back to stock if I can't get my battery issue lined out.

Nothing to troubleshoot really. You probably have most of the known battery draining apps runing on your phone. (listed on another thread)
I would suggest you flash a ROM like Unnamed that removes all the bloatware and all these battery hogging apps. I would also get an app like Setcpu to set the cpu to conservative to save even more battery.
Good luck!
Entropy's DD already sets the CPU governor to conservative. Anyways, post a pic of your battery usage (by uploading it then linking it), and if your phone has blue bars all over awake, then you know you have a wakelock problem. Search for the known battery drainers thread and see if you have apps there, also remove all widgets and add them back one by one to see if any of those affect battery life.
Battery
It's just common sense, before rooting a phone like the i777 it's not much fun spending a
lot of time playing with it.
But after it's rooted and we have access to the CWM Recovery ready to do our bidding
we all get carried away by all the fun and interesting things we can do with the phone
if you get my drift! (and it's easy to get carried away with a phone like ours)
I just don't understand how so many people can say that "My battery is great" or
complaining that "My battery only lasts xx amount of hours" with a straight face
because just like any other battery operated electronic device, our phone's battery
consumption is a lot more variable than the weather!
Without conducting tests like starting with a fully charged battery keeping the screen
on until the phone goes dead or playing non-stop music until the battery dies there is
no real accurate way to test battery life unless it's done under labratory conditions.
Otherwise all we are doing when talking about battery life is a big guessing game!
Even little things like the ambient room temperature and the amount of moisture in the
air have an effect on battery life in all electronic devices even if they are powered off.
In other words, simply rooting a phone and doing nothing else has no effect on the life of the battery.
Hey I think you should try to wipe your battery stats in recovery after ah full charge cycle ..then let it discharge then fully charge it again. It worked for me after flashing cm7 on my evo.

Im running the ICS leak on a VZ phone, everything appears to be working good but i only get like 6-8 hours of battery life where before it would last all day. I not using any battery defending apps and neither did i before, is this just a bug or is there a fix for it? Anyone else notice this or just me?
Do you have a MAXX or normal razr? If it is normal RAZR those times are appropriate.
Check for deep sleep with CPU Spy. Also, the leak uses the interactive governor so it hogs more than hotplug.

Something is chewing up your battery. An app or something because I'm running the CMDA leak and if I leave my phone sitting on my desk overnight unplugged it only drops from 100% to 90% (80% max) by the time I wake up several hours later.

You can change the governor using an app like SetCPU. Gives you the option right on the main screen when you first boot up the app.
Of course, changing the CPU settings only works if you're rooted.. But assuming you're on the ICS leak, you're most likely rooted.

Yup I'm rooted. I've just never had reason to mess with the CPU before. I will check this out.
It was pretty bad for me as well when I first flashed, and usage showed 35-60% of it was the screen usage. I just reset the battery by draining it completely, charging for 8 hours on, turn off and charge for an hour, turn on unplugged for 2 minutes then turn off and charge for another hour and my battery life is much better. It still seems a bit less than GB, but part of it may be due to juice defender not being able to do as much (only shows 1.5x where it used to show 2.5x).

If your using it minimally and get good air signals you can go many hours easily with the normal Razr.
For instance I had a Razr, I was chewing through battery life so got the Maxx. No issues from there on out. I get relatively poor reception where I sit in my building so it sucks more power up to get a signal.
My wife has a Razr that is running this ICS as well, from 5:30am til 6pm at night with about 1-1:30min of screen time she sits at 50% battery, goes down to 35-40% the remainder of the night before plug in. Though most apps she uses is not intensive, she has very good line of sight to towers and gets great signal. As well at home switches to wifi network and disables the data connection.
Now mind you as soon as I got my Razr I was on the ICS within hours. I don't know how GB was and don't care to run it. It will be great when ICS officially releases and maybe since this is a test that more systems will be tweaked for the phone.
Ya thats crazy by battery is just getting toasted, im using corporate sync i have good signals everywhere im at...with GB my phone would last all day with a bunch of widgets corporate sync ect...with the ICS leak is pretty bare bones stock the only thing i have setup is the corporate sync and its dying in like 4 hours with little use.
Forgot to add even with poor reception my phone with moderate use still would last 12-14 hours with the normal Razr.
That seems really strange. Do you know how much the battery is being chewed up? I use Battery History Monitor. I can look back and a log for days of usage during 5min intervals during the day. Typically I get between 50-120mA usage per hour with no use sitting in my building without using the actual phone itself. Better when its cloudy, worse when sunny. At home I can get downwards of 20-30mA with wifi off.
This is with wifi off, bluetooth off, sitting on 4G network most of the time. Average per day for me is 4-5% loss of signal which is me walking through the building I work at.
Definetly sounds like there is an app running eating your battery.

I agree there is a battery munching app somewhere. I have a razr and use it heavily and it last me over 12 hrs.

No matter how many forums and threads there is no solution to be found for this massive battery drainage. stock rom vs poison with greenify, underclock, tweaks, lower brightness, other mods, and the battery is exactly THE SAME in both. Draining massivly. I have 60% now, 2 minutes ago when I was browsing in mozzila I had 66%. Also draining when screen off. I kept using the battery with same patterns for a lot of days, adaptive charging doesn't seem to help.. Any solution??
Go back to stock with fastboot and see how it goes.
There's probably a much more convoluted solution out there but it would probably be too much hassle.

Hi guys. Sorry for slow reply. I have tried going back to stock rom and other different roms. No difference. You see the weird part is that the battery lasts the same no matter what you do, stamina mode? same. Nothing running on background ? same. New thing happened: After the poison 7 rom in battery settings ann option "battery care" appeared. I turned it on to see what it does. Only after some weeks it decided to pop up when I plugged my phone to charge. It said something like "Battery Care active. Your phone will be fully charged in 5 p.m Tuesday (example) while it is still Monday 3 p.m. Should I listen to battery care and leave the phone plugged in for 1 day or not? (no matter if it reaches 100%).
This is a bit irrelevant but I am asking just in case: Is your phone too charging very fast ? I have the basic charger (not the fast charge) and I believe my phone is being charged a bit too fast

Me too i have the normal charger included in the box and it takes about 2 hours from 20ish to 90ish % if i plug it to a usb 3.0 port it takes about 1:30hr to charge from about the same
Battery Care is a nice app if you charge your phone overnight. It limits the duration of your battery charged to 100% by charging rapidly to 90% until a half hour or so before you wake up. To do so it needs to learn your charging habits first. Supposedly this prolongs your battery life. Attached an example. You can see it charges rapidly as well.

I see. Thanks for the info. I will try it if just saying. IF it can fix my battery problem. Probably it has nothing to do with it though

I agree it is unrelated. Since your battery problem seems independent on the rom, a few options are left: a rogue app that you always install, something related to your Google account, or a hardware problem.

Is it worth it to try going back to stock again and also unrooting? Or relocking the bootloader? I thought of an app but the only thing that it could really be are the google services , the play store. Messenger doesnt seem to drain much and makes a minimal difference, and with the app we mentioned above I didn't find absolutely anything draining the battery apart from screen and OS (it could also be more than normal)
I did all the trip concept-stock-concept and it seems it is an app right now I'm getting almost the day through and have 20ish of battery, it was easier in my case because I didn't unlocked bootloader or rooted, so might try a full clean reinstall to your phone

I'm currently also having massive battery drain(6% an hour) I tried stock rom, Posion rom and concept rom, sadly all with the same result. I use grenify & fordoze but somehow my phone wont 'doze'/go into deep sleep. I installed better battery stats to check out the problem. On a normal day(one charge) the sumery of better batter stats look like this:
deep sleep 7 hours / awake(screen off) 5.5 hours / screen on 1.5 hours
when i look to kernel wakelocks there is one that is always on top of the list:
bluesleep 5.2 hours 243 wakelocks
Also under alarms there is a suspect:
com.google.android.gms: 864 alarms 1/min
So there are some strange things happening on my phone... really wondering if you got the same wakelocks/alarms as I do
I use greenify and HEBF. Same story here, it seems like nothing changes with battery life. Crazy, only 1,5 hours? My average now is 3. I haven't checked the drainage when screen is off but I did notice similar drains to yours. I think we're in the same boat. I will tell you about the wakelocks, haven't looked into that yet

I've just received my phone for just one day. Backup my TA partition, unlock bootloader and use rootkernel tool to root my devices. I'm using the .331 version stock ROM. Just then I installed the ElementalX app on play store, and surprisingly found that the cpu frequency statistics show that the phone is always on the max freq. So I changed the cpu governor to interactive governor. Haven't test battery time yet. Hope you know this issue, if you have the same problem.

I'm wondering if you've check the cpu freq statistics. See my post above. If that's the common issue, than the stock rom maybe has trouble dealing with the cpu governor problem.

Any news guys? Is your battery better when lowering frequecies ? I have also tried lowering them but no change

Actually I'm not lowering frequencies, I use EX Kernel Manager to tune the interactive governor according to this post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557
After tuning the governor, it's about 4 hours SOT. Still not good compare to my Xperia Z3, but much better than before(about 2hr SOT)

Well it's not perfect yet but switching off scanning for bluetooth and wifi helped me a lot(under location settings) Also L Speed & Greenify are helping.
Still looking for a way to turn off fast dormancy.
