Hey guys I use LTE Switch on my GNexus but my buddy tried it on his Thunderbolt and we are seeing issues. I usually use LTE switch to freely force my phone into 3G at will but when he tried this on his Thunderbolt it seemed to kill data altogether and now he can't get 1X 3G or LTE. The screen LTE switch pulls up is much more advanced than the one on my Nexus so I tried telling him what he should do and more than likely he pressed a bunch of different buttons and must've hit something he shouldn't have. My question is what can we do to get data back?
Data is enabled. 'CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto' is enabled. Theoretically we should be seeing at least 3G if not LTE.
Assistance would be GREATLY appreciated and Thanks will be distributed liberally.
There is a "turn off radio" button that is easily pressed on that screen. You would have to press it again to turn the radio on.
Also - make sure he's not in airplane mode or if mobile networks is off. He should put widgets for turning these on and off somewhere on his phone.

Thanks but already tried all of this. Just re-inserted the LTE sim card, maybe that'll work. Apparently it does for Bionic users.

Is there any way to disable the phone radio of this phone, for when I travel internationally? The last time I traveled, in order to use wifi and bluetooth - the phone's antenna kept searching for a non-existant signal and killed my battery consistently.
Is there a setting I just don't see that allows me to use everything but the phone functions? Airplane mode wipes out everything.
Thanks.

*#*#4636#*#* then go to Phone Info, then choose turn off radio. Repeat and reboot to turn back on.

Thank you sir! That's exactly what I was looking for. It's odd that the solution's so convoluted, on previous phones I always had a switch in the settings.

Does that work for you? Because if I try that on my phone, bluetooth stays disabled. Ironically - wifi can be turned on in airplane mode though.
I'm running stock, by the way.

That's odd, when I put mine in AM and then turn on WiFi it works perfectly.
edit: Turn on AM first then turn on WiFi. If you have WiFi on and then turn on AM it kills WiFi.

You didn't read my last post - that works, but not for bluetooth. AM kills bluetooth no matter what.
Radio Shack had this phone on sale for $14 cash this weekend, I picked up a couple of them to setup to use for WiFi text/music/YouTube phones for my kids.
I have rooted them and now just want to get rid of the Virgin Mobile automatic profile update that attempts to happen when I power on the phone. If possible, I would like to permanently disable the cellular data/voice modem as well leaving WiFi enabled.
Anyone know what app I should disable/remove through titanium backup to do this?
I have absolutely no intention of ever activating these phones for traditional cell service. They will strictly be used as WiFi android devices. Basically a cheapo alternative to an iPod.
I have set the phone for airplane mode and then enabled WiFi to prevent them from making calls, this is a reasonable solution but they could turn on the cell radio and start trying to activate, although they wouldn't get far as they don't have a way to provide payment anyway.
Problem is their mother isn't the brightest and when they are away at mom's, I would like to be able to text them and not be on the phone with her troubleshooting them constantly.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

1) Turn on Airplane mode with power button. 2) wait 10 seconds, 3) turn on WiFi
Should stop this. You still get a message on bootup, but it will NOT cycle off/on WiFi like it doesn't if you don't turn on airplane mode.
There are several apps on the market and some more than I've side loaded on other phones that can lock your phone into 4g only, 3g only, gsm only etc. The most recent one was advanced signal status on my galaxy S4. However, I haven't found one that works on my G3. Advanced signal status works until you select phone information and then I get a pop up that says "this application does not work on this device" In my town and at work, I know there is a 4G signal (even though at times it is weak) but the phone likes to revert back to 3g more often than I am happy with. (my galaxy did this too...but not at the rate the G3 is). I'd like to force it into LTE only mode at times but it's not an option unless I find an app that works. My only recourse right now is putting into airplane mode and then turning airplane mode off. It will revert back to 4g when doing this....but no guarantee how long it will keep 4g before switching again.
I was going through some of the hidden menu items. and now the 3G radio is not turning on, or at least not showing up in the notification area. There was the one service mode code that turned off the radio and then the other one that turned on, but it is not turning on. I hope this gets read, because I know this is an older device, but maybe another Samsung code will work from another phone.

It may vary depending on what ROM you're running,,, but I've always used : *#*#4636#*#* in dialer,,, then tap phone,,, scroll down tap radio on/off
Hi,
I'm facing an issue, LTE is really long to hook up, it takes 30s at boot and when I switch airplane mode OFF, it take an other 30s , each time.
If I disable LTE and use only 3G, it take a second to hook up.
I've tried many settings and network band on *#*#4636#*#* but I cant get better.
I've tried many custom roms too.
Any help is welcome!
