LTE takes long time to hook up - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm facing an issue, LTE is really long to hook up, it takes 30s at boot and when I switch airplane mode OFF, it take an other 30s , each time.
If I disable LTE and use only 3G, it take a second to hook up.
I've tried many settings and network band on *#*#4636#*#* but I cant get better.
I've tried many custom roms too.
Any help is welcome!

[Q] 3g hiccup?

I'm having some strange 3g hiccups lately. I'll elaborate.
sometimes while browsing etc the phone will hang on 3g connections (eg does not even resolve DNS). the data connection icon keeps cycling the 3g and H symbols; at each new symbol switch the upload and download arrows seem to 'do something' for some instants then they fail and start the cycle all over again. I don't even seem to find a way to resolve the issue as putting the phone in airplane mode for some time does not help, and neither disabling 3g networks for a couple minutes. I also tried a reboot which did not help. The only working solution seems to be patiently wait till it works again.
I would not swear on this but I think this issue started when I flashed stock 360. I am however 100% sure that this was not happening, say, a couple months ago.
I am not even sure there is a problem with the phone, there might as well be some problems with the carrier.
anyone experienced anything similar?

[Q] 4G auto-reconnect?

Anyone know if there is a way to have 4G auto-reconnect after it drops without having to click the scan button all the time? Script or setting? I know it will reconnect sometimes but I always have to scan again after it fails and I'm looking for a way to have it try to reconnect all the time until I turn it off.
4G does auto re-connect but not instantly. It's sort of on a timer and not a fast one to save battery. You can change it in ##DATA# I believe, but can't remember where. you need your msl. There's a post I think in the cdma dev section about improving your 4g if you search that can help better (at work or I'd spend the extra time for ya). Adjusting the time it rescans will be a huge drain to the battery though.

[Q] Thunderbolt data killed by LTE Switch Help

Hey guys I use LTE Switch on my GNexus but my buddy tried it on his Thunderbolt and we are seeing issues. I usually use LTE switch to freely force my phone into 3G at will but when he tried this on his Thunderbolt it seemed to kill data altogether and now he can't get 1X 3G or LTE. The screen LTE switch pulls up is much more advanced than the one on my Nexus so I tried telling him what he should do and more than likely he pressed a bunch of different buttons and must've hit something he shouldn't have. My question is what can we do to get data back?
Data is enabled. 'CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto' is enabled. Theoretically we should be seeing at least 3G if not LTE.
Assistance would be GREATLY appreciated and Thanks will be distributed liberally.
There is a "turn off radio" button that is easily pressed on that screen. You would have to press it again to turn the radio on.
Also - make sure he's not in airplane mode or if mobile networks is off. He should put widgets for turning these on and off somewhere on his phone.

Thanks but already tried all of this. Just re-inserted the LTE sim card, maybe that'll work. Apparently it does for Bionic users.

4g only mode

There are several apps on the market and some more than I've side loaded on other phones that can lock your phone into 4g only, 3g only, gsm only etc. The most recent one was advanced signal status on my galaxy S4. However, I haven't found one that works on my G3. Advanced signal status works until you select phone information and then I get a pop up that says "this application does not work on this device" In my town and at work, I know there is a 4G signal (even though at times it is weak) but the phone likes to revert back to 3g more often than I am happy with. (my galaxy did this too...but not at the rate the G3 is). I'd like to force it into LTE only mode at times but it's not an option unless I find an app that works. My only recourse right now is putting into airplane mode and then turning airplane mode off. It will revert back to 4g when doing this....but no guarantee how long it will keep 4g before switching again.

[kenzo] MIUI line defect, data connection problem

Hello
Each time when I back from custom rom to MIUI Global Version I have two problems:
1. Line defect on the bottom of screen. It appears randomly, not each time.
2. Usually I have set that data connection turn off after 5 minuts of screen off. Later when screen is on data connection should return. Problem is that often it is not turn on again fast. Sometimes it takes one minute, or I should press data button to activate it.
Both problems are on all type of MIUI (dev, stable, even xiaomi.eu). So I thought it is some problem with hardware, but on custom roms everything is ok. Does anyone have idea what could happen and how to fix it ?
Here's the picure of line defect:

That bottom line thing in the status bar has been there for a long time. It appears after a reboot and disappears after some time, so not much of an issue.
But yeah, mobile data seems to be seriously messed up in MIUI now. Sometimes it just doesn't turn on, and I've toggle airplane mode a few times to get it work. Internet browsing speeds that I'm getting are terrible, more so when using WiFi. When downloading some large file or so, the speed picks up and seems to be ok, but browsing is terribly slow. Also, even though 4G signal strength is very good in my area, it sometimes unnecessarily jumps back to 3G in MIUI.
Custom ROMs don't seem to have these problems and data is fine. So, it's not related to firmware I guess.
