For anyone who flashed a kernel or ROM and broke Wifi, this fix worked for me. You will need Root Explorer or some other file manager that can R/W /system/. Go into /system/lib/modules and delete bcm4330.ko. Grab the attached bcm4330.zip, extract the .ko file, copy it over to your phone, then use Root Explorer to drop it into /system/lib/modules. Finally, reboot.
Brought my wifi back after flashing Ziggy's kernel using Con247's easy kernel flash method and losing wifi.

Since those affected by this problem will not be able to flash this cwm zip, note that you can extract the update.zip out of the /sdcard/ directory in the cwm zip. Replacing that may work out...

i tried that. i had it on my pc. didnt work.
i just started from DL09 and worked it back up to blackhole 4.1
works just fine now.
Take the fixed CWM update.zip from the above post. Drop a copy on your sd card. Copy it into the clockworkmod folder and rename the copy recovery-update.zip. Will work on both ends then.

I've replaced update.zip with working version, flashed JT's modified version, copied and renamed to CWM folder.
It now goes directly to modified Red recovery.
Thank you for the useful info.

Hello guys. In some custom roms My Files option removed. If anyone want to get back this stock My Files then how I can get back, even with ported My File with cwm or in other way....?
I suppose you would be able to extract it yourself by installing a stock ROM and then copying the APK from /system/app (using some root capable file manager).
At least if nobody else has an easier solution for you.
Good luck!

Can I just flash this apk or I have to flash a rom?
Either re-flash or use root explorer to move the apk to system/apps folder and fix permissions.

what ROM are you on?
you can't flash an app, you need to move the apk to the system folder with root explorer.
when i said re-flash i meant re-flash the whole ROM.
google it, i'm sure you are not the first one.

Goto the page from where you've downloaded the kernel, there must be a link for downloading wifi modules, download them, place them on ur sdcard and install them through recovery.
If theres no wifi modules, u can install another kernel, lyk 'Lupus JB'.
Sorry for my bad English.

Problem is still there. I've installed same kernel again and sd card was damaged, after that I make backup and formatting and install cm10xtended by Hikari and flash modules. An my card again damaged and Wi-Fi won't work and I don't konw what else to do. I think if I flash another kernel ( like Lupus) again the problem will still exist. Do you think that the problem is in the JV Z? Please help me! :crying:

hi, i got a similar problem with my smultron so i would be interested if you found a solution.
i figured out that in stock based rom (and kernel) the wifi works, in different cm builds it doesnt. i tried different kernels (even some i already got the wifi working) but nothing helped. For this kernels i didn't have to flash any modules ( the description said that i don't have to...(already included!?)).
I have to admit, that i don't know much about all this stuff, so i would really appreciate if someone could give me a hint about what to do
thanks allot!
Hmmmm...do this step....
1.using any file explorer with ROOT excess, go and delete....
a. /data/local/tmp
2.Then copy and paste all files from roms that you're using right now (flashable zip)....
a./system/lib/modules (flashable zip) to your phone /system/lib/modules (replaced all files with proper permission rwxr-xr-x)
3.delete other files that is not been replaced (can be identified by look at the date of the files/delete files that have old date)
4.exit the file explorer, turn of your phone and boot into fastboot....
5.flash any kernel you desire....
6.your wifi will fixed after that....
ah... i'm really sorry i didn't see your reply till now
didn't try your solution, but it the end i got it working again. don't remember how
anyway, thanks allot for your help!!!

Download a 2.3.6 rom flashable zip file. Open it and go to system/app extract the file and copy it to your phone. Install it and your done.
If you want to install a system app then you need to be rooted. So i thought you already had a flashable zip file.
I got my firmware downloaded only. It is md5.tar file. Is this what you are talking about or should I download something else?

I didn't install anything, just copied apk file from SD card into system/app directory. Odex file can't be replaced. No matter what error, just tell me if I have to run 7ZIP program, pack both files and then flash via CWM?

You flashed a zip file?
Is the apk file still in system/app? If not just place it there and wipe the caches. Without flashing a file.
BTW I don't know exactly how I make a good flashable zip file. Search and it shouldn't be hard to find and make.

I'm not allowed to delete system files as they are in use and any operation is restricted, even while rooted!
Whatever, I flashed my firmware from scratch and f**k it still won't work because I run Go Launcher Ex which is not compatible with stock widget.
