Just curious about what the hole on the left side of the phone is for? I never really thought about it..
I would ASSUME its for the signal, but i honestly don't know...
anyone know?
i noticed em too when i first got the phone i thought it was a camera but i think it might be the light sensor or maybe gps of some sort? gps says it needs an outdoor view, so maybe it uses that? id like to know too as im curious about it

that hole is used for a Lanyard Strap. Take off the cover and you can see light through it. that is where the loop can be placed through.

I don't usually imagine things, but I hope I am imagining this. Could everyone take a very close look at their screen and see if it seems that the display is slightly tilted to the right? Almost like it is slighty rotated... like by one or two pixels. It would be most noticeable (if you are afflicted) by looking very closely at the upper right corner of the status bar.
Are there any video screen testers to download that would give me a better perspective?
My actual LCD is tilted by 1-2 pixels to the right under the glass. Was the first thing I noticed when I turrned it on and looked at it deadon. Not enough to make me return it, but it's BARELY noticeable. Had the same issue with a refurbed OG Evo from Sprint when mine broke.
Then again, I have perfect vision and I pay attention to the smallest and dumbest details.
is your 3d/2d switch loose front to back?
j/w b/c mine is and it bugs the crap outa me. also noticed the screen seemed to be recessed a tad more in the top right. but thats me nit picking really.
I thought I was going insane when I noticed this, its barely noticeable but I knew something felt off, especially if I looked right at the top by the status bar like the OP said. .

Yes, this is exactly how mine is. But I am not usually picky about this kind of stuff and it is bugging the crap out of me. I am debating on returning.
mines like that I thought the 3D was making me cross eyed

Can't be. Mine is fine and I'm very picky about build quality.
Mine is like this too.
Thankfully I didn't get one. I'm going to wait for newer hardware builds or a better offering from Sprint. I would take it back if its noticeable.
Maybe I don't know what to look for, but my screen looks perfectly fine.

I have hw 0003
hw 002 and everything is fine.
I have hw 002. After I read the OP, mine looked off. However, I think it's just an illusion. From my high "technical" exam, all four corners appear fine in of themselves. It's only when I look at the clock in relation to the rest of the bar does it start looking off.
My device has "acquired" a blue smear in the screen ... Is this going to be perminent?
.. don't know how it got there .. think it must be pressure caused .. but don't see how that would have happened through...
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Kris
I had this problem. Mix peanut butter and a lil clorox on a rag. Rub it on for a min then wipe it off.

It's under the screen... Had a screen protector on it from day one.. took that off to make sure it wasn't on the screen

Ugh, it is sounding a bit like you have somehow caused the liquid crystal to leak from the LCD. When there is a thin film on, below, or between a lens it causes the optical symptoms you describe. I could be wrong, but without looking at it and given the description if I were a betting man that is what I would bet on.
I have the same blue streak but its only visible under sunlight at the right angle. Doesn't really bother me.

That would be another optic symptom of some sort of liquid on a film. If you ever see a rainbow it's almost a sure thing.

I'm sure its something that occurred during the production of my phone. It doesn't affect anything and I sure as **** don't want a 1.50 hboot phone. Since its only visible in direct sunlight and at a certain angle I live with it. Kinda interesting to see someone else with the same issue though.

Yeah, this is BS. Makes me mad, you guys can fix it if you really want to though. Get on Ebay and look for the glass + digitizer + LCD and housing all in one piece, that way you can fix it without getting hboot 1.5
K so I bought my 1st phone from expansys and had bad overheating issues. They were very nice in exchanging it for me. But now I noticed on by replacement phone there are like 6-8 spider cracks around the one side of the rear speaker. You can tell the back plate cracked from factory speaker install. Did anyone notice this on their phone? I emailed expansys again. Do u think they'd give me a hard time on getting another replacement? I hate to see the back case crack worse then it already is.

can you post a picture of the phone?
On top of that add some other issues like black screen ink marks and tell them backcover makes a sound when u click on it. That should be enough to get a refund or replacement

I do have those black ink marks, im not really worried about it at the moment. What I worry is will it worse and be visible on the months/weeks to come?
this is the best attempt i could make....i can't tell if its just the glaze that is cracked or what...but come on you pay 700 for a phone it shouldn't be like that....

Can anyone try this out for me please?
When I tap the right half of the screen, the screen feels hard but when I tap the left side of the phone screen, it seems hollow and makes a little bit of a vibrate noise.
Can anyone else notice this?
Take it back if you can. If not speak to Samsung, its not a feature that's for sure.
My name is Optimus Prime and I send this message..
I don't think it would be classed as a fault though. I'm sure a normal user wouldn't even begin to notice this.
Just if someone could tap the left and right edge of the middle of the screen a few times and let me know if they notice the same thing that would be great.
Thanks
Just try on my phone and not having this issue...
It's just the right side feels really hard when you tap it hard and the left side doesn't feel as hard...
Can anyone else please try?
Anyone else before I get to bed? Maybe I am just over examining?
Feels the same to me. Doesn't sound like an issue either way

Yeah I to was thinking maybe it's to do with the position of the components. It really isn't an issue though but I was just curious if anyone else was noticing it.
In normal use you can't even tell the difference so I guess that's a good thing. It is just more noticeable when tapping harder than usual on the screen.

I do see what you mean but it is only detectable (just) when you know exctly what to look for. As you suggest, it's definitely not an issue and is most likely to do with internal configuration.
You may also want ot consider getting out a little more,,,

It is safe to say this is normal then?

We're not quite a representative sample so 'normal' is dangerous in this context, but if we are experiencing the same thing - and I think we are - then I would say it it is reasonably predictable given we are tapping an object of non-uniform density.
Bugger, who is it that needs to get out more now...
Hello there. I have bought my Samsung Galaxy SIII a few weeks ago ( about 2 weeks if I'm nt mistaken) and I love it very very much. And I've also bought some case to protect it since the 1st day. And currently I'm using the case mate pop for it. However, today when I take a look at my SIII I found out that the the earpiece is slightly slanted to the right and it formed a quite a huge gap. And between those gaps I can see something silver and chrome like inside of it. I think it is the inner parts of the phone related to the earpiece. I have no idea how this happen because I'm using my SIII everyday untill today I noticed this.
I've never dropped my SIII and I take very good care of it. The only thing I did was taking out the case mate pop and I applied slight pressure to it because it was a little hard to take off. I'm wondering is this the reason that causes the slant and gaps? And I wanted to know if others had the exact same problem or am I thinking too much and didn't notice it the 1st day until today? I'll attach some pictures so you guys can take a closer look. I need some advice guys I'm desperate! Thanks in advance.
*EDIT* I also found out that I can slightly move the earpiece. Just a little bit. But still I cant make it to close the gap and that silver thingy. Is it suppose to be a little bit loose?

Not sure what u meant by case mate pop... but I wouldn't tell: most repair consultants wouldn't know unless its clear u used a screw driver to move the eat piece.

The case mate pop is a case for the S3 which is made in Taiwan. It's quite popular in youtube alot of people are doing reviews for it. I put the case in it and it was easy. But then when I tried to take it off it was hard. So I have to apply slight pressure on the top of my phone.
Do you think that the pressure is what causes this? And do you have the silver thing on the right corner of your S3? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if I understand this correctly. Can this "silver thing" be seen inside of the 3.5mm jack input, or on the far right corner of the S3? If it's in the headphones port, it could be the connector for the jack-plug you see, which is normal.
Could you by any chance provide a picture of the damaged area?

I've look into the 3.5mm jack input and I can't seem to find anything related to it as the silver thing is on the right corner of the earpiece. Just below it. And what do you mean on the far right corner?
I think everything is normal in the 3.5mm jack input. Yes I've attached some thumbnails in the 1st post. I wanted to know if anybody has this problem or isit only my S3 that has this? Its wierd I don't notice it until I remove my case and it appeared out of no where. It's quite visible too.
I never see it before when I'm not using the case. I tired to push the earpiece and it seemed to move a little but I cant get it to cover that silver thing. If you look closely at my thumbnails, you can see that the earpiece is somehow slanted a little bit which is the reason why the silver thing is visible. It's underneath the earpiece. Thank you.
