Stock hybrom or cyanogen? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hey guys wats your fone software loaded wid, u like stock, hybrom or fxp's cyanogen wats da good and bad and better of ur roms?
sent from mangoe's eii

1. fxp's cyanogen is a complete custom built ROM. i think they almost started from scratch. the downside, its not complete at the moment. the comments shows a lot of bug. + the bug is never written on the 1st post which makes it even worse. dont get me wrong i have great respect to them to have courage to start from scratch, but if the bug is written on the 1st post it would be really nice.
-still has problem with keyboard, camera, fm radio and some lighting problem(led too bright)
-hardware keyboard problem can relatively be fix w/o functioning "sym" button
-bright led also fixable.
2. hybrom is some kind of modified stock firmware which he removes or add some feature.
-almost all feature in the stock are present with addition of some like overclocking..
-UI is a bit different
-removal of all crapware that come preloaded with the phone.

Some bugs in fxps are dat if camera is change to video recording mode and back to picture da phone gets stuck,
If keyboard values in hw config are channged da keyboard light is always on, I found some games dint work!!! Den it hangs a lot
Yea but respect for dem to start from scratch!!
Hybrom.... Has given lots of free memory space to pro, tweaked at par currently finding some bugs if present, games work exellently in this
Transitions are beautiful, I ve added all in one mod framework which gives ne-on look to screen!!
Thanks to all the developers like fxps, boof, kamarush, dumoh and none the less doomlord!! For making our gadget one of mightiest and powerful!!

Roms review 99% done =)

[ROM] Cyanogen Froyo CM6-Latest (based on MiniCM) - v6.01 - created by slade87
I didn’t have any problems with this ROM, slade87 tried to take out the Sony’s stuff and it works.
The camera app it’s different from the other ones (I couldn’t figure it out but I think it’s the default android app?)
You could say bye bye to the album of SE, cause there is an app called Gallery 3D, it’s pretty good and simple.
I’ll be honest, I never like ADW, I’m more a Launcher Pro guy, but this theme, it’s smooth and with the option to “separate” the apps from each other’s it’s great.
The Flash player doesn’t work on the browser (damn you SE) but it’s installed so you can open swf files. (I didn’t try)
Bugs I found:
- Seems like, the keyboard light turns on with the keyboard closed :S (I think it’s fixable thanks to D4rKn3sSyS)
- The sms doesn’t have the option to save costs to.
- It’s possible to access the power options (by pressing the power button) even the phone it’s lock.
[ROM] Cyanogen Gingerbread CM7 based on MiniCM for MiniPro (v15.0) - created by slade87
What a disappointment… I was expecting much more from this ROM 
The best:
The profiles in the power options, that my friend it’s a damn good idea!
The worst/bugs:
The wifi was crazy, it was almost impossible to download via market the Quadrant Standard Edition to benchmark this ROM.
The camera doesn’t support full resolution (I think slade it’s working on that)
The screen goes off when it feels like, I mean even if you are navigating throw the menu, the screen goes off.
When someone calls you, the option to answer or not it’s in front of the name.
The sms doesn’t have the option to save costs to
It’s possible to access the power options (by pressing the power button) even the phone it’s lock.
[ROM]CyaNo (R)Evolution v1.3 & CyaNoComb v1.2 - created by slade87
This is a cleaner version of Cyanogen Froyo CM6-Latest (based on MiniCM) - v6.01.
The bugs are the same except:
It’s possible to access the power options (by pressing the power button) even the phone it’s lock.
[ROM] SonyBread 4.0 Final - created by paul-xxx
I couldn’t run this ROM because it loop in the gingerbread boot animation
[ROM 16-07-2011] Andread 2.2.9 Pro v7f - created by pumakkiotto
Sorry but I couldn’t review totally this ROM because of the updates :S My phone stuck at SE logo every time I tried to update with the “fix c.1.0 ok.zip” file.
The phone reboot one time while I was using the voice app, don’t know I why but isn’t important.
The camera app it’s very good, lots of options I think it’s the vignette app (correct me if I’m wrong)
The launcher it’s simple and cool, but doesn’t support horizontal mode.
This is a very lightly and fast ROM, very good work
Bugs I found:
- The keyboard layout (I didn’t test the slade87 method, but I think it works )
- The launcher doesn’t save the order of apps.
- The sms doesn’t have the option to save costs
[ROM] CyaNoComb v1.3 - created by D4rKn3sSyS
I couldn’t test this ROM at all because the setup wizard always stops after I change the clock settings and then I don’t have a launcher :S
I tried to install the ROM twice.
This is the cost saving I'm talking about, I take this screen shot from the SONY's ROM
s
Reserved! =)
bugs find in latest version of roms
hi im running slade´s minicm 5.0 when i install 6.0 or 6.01 my app jbed java emulator dont work anymore. but it does en 5.0, i try Paul sonybread too and all works fine exept my java emulator. its say {no sd card present or maybe sd card is busy please chek it} the emulator installs fine but midlets dont run just says that and close.same fot froyocomb 1.6 and minicm 7, maybe a wrong lib file or line on build.prop? can somebody give me a hand or a hint? i really use this app. but want to jump to 6.01 or sonybread. thanks in advance.
First of all i am not a developer.
But i think it is a bad idea. Developers dont compete. Ui is what you make it too and everyone has different taste..

i absolutely agree with that.
A batery test alone would be nice. I've seen differences on up to 300 % from slades android 2.3 v 15 to his 2.2 cyan revolution alone. Other than that i think a comparison of features set up nice would help people, a test alone is kinda silly.

his right.
and i dont think the dev want to enter this contest and compete with each other.basically all the rom are same.
What would be usefull is some kind of comparison. So new users can make a choice easier.
But don't you see, developers will not be submitting their roms to compete. That's not the point in xda.

So with so many roms out there, I thought maybe it's a good idea to make a test to all of them.
I'm gonna give them a score from 0 to 10 to:
- Bugs
- Users vote
- Interface
- Graphics
- CPU
- Battery
- Apps that are already installed
- Others stuff
I think it's fare enough to give a preparation time to all developers, thus I'm gonna review all the ROM that has been submitted to me, by the developer of that ROM,in a PM before 23:59:59 (UTC+1) 22nd July.
After that I'm gona download all the last versions of the ROMs submitted unitl that day.
I hope the developers like the ideia =)

the idea is not sooo bad
maybe you could see that CM is not forever the best rom in xda
it is sad that all roms are basicly a CM6 ROM
CM is good but a little bit new would be interessting
It's not a competition! It's like a comparable chart for new users, don't get me wrong please!

I suggest changing the thread title, it suggests a competition. As of right now, you have developers working together using fixes, optimizations from each other to make all the roms better and more stable, i see no reason to change that. Even just rating them still creates a competition in rankings, let alone the fact that your experience with a rom could be far different than what another user will have. This is evident in the rom threads themselves as some users experience bugs and others don't.
I think it's best to leave it as it is, comment on your experiences with the roms, rank them as you wish, just make sure that everyone knows its just your opinion and not a contest or competition.
Why don't you just review the ROM's if you want to review them? I don't see the need to set a certain time and date, why should the developers work to your timescale?

yeah but what could you change? You cant add new features, only change the stock Apps and look. Thats it!
Btw a rom with only new features but no "custom" stuff would be nice, so new "devs" have a nice blank rom to start customizing it! =)
they all suck.

10 out of 10 for enthusiasm but I think you should make clear from the start its your opinion if you really want to go ahead and do it.
When I first bought my phone I knew zero.
I don't know much now but everything I've learned and decided to do on this phone I've done through reading, and through trial & error.
My opinion is that beginners should learn for themselves, by trying for themselves...not being told
But thats my opinion.

wow v9 already? last time i checked miui was still at v4
joke aside..
how did you managed to incorporate miui weather? does it work correctly?
last time thing i read
is that miui stopped development outside of china for this app
because other devs (go weather) copied it
Have to ask, shows it being ICS 4.0.2 but has centered clock.??..?? ICS framework or real V4 miui pics??
Looks very good!! But is it 2.3.7 or 4.0.2??
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
If i remember correctly galnet originally had incorporated 4.0 framework. It wasnt true ics so they switched it back to 2.3.7 because of the confusion. Im pretty sure this is still 90% 2.3.7.

its 100% not 4.0.2....Apex Launcher works only on ICS...and it did not load here...so this rom is not ICS it is GB....
more over i think it have a small lag with kernel, sometimes it clock on 1600 MHZ by it self and become so hot....need restart to work back normally...otherwise still testing
Its really awesome.....need some fixes ant will be great rom....btw new market ( play store ) facing a lot of FC ( just on this rom )

Was that with stock kernel? Siyah? How's battery life so far?
this rom has the framerwork ics, but it is really only his framerwor ics, so if I say it's a rom that flies
with it being ics framework does that mean some themes from theme manager might not work?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
torch doesnt work for long press home button
not work all the issues that you please place without any problems
great work
@MIGUELDEMON
Very good ROM, stable and fast! but why is it not mutlilanguage?
No probs found!SpLauncher is my favorit
Great Rom...
To bad no multilang
what is the name of the icons?
Can you post a .mtz
dsp manager doesnt seem to do anything for me
downloaded light version first and added it from another rom and it FC'd when i tried chaning equalizer so flashed the normal version and turning bass on and off doesnt make a difference and theres no presets for any equalizers settings

[Q]Working lights,speakers,button

I have come across many promising roms in this forum and I want to desperately try them but I stop at the last moment...
The main reason being that-
1)The walkman button doesnt work properly in the custom roms(Although a tweak has been reported,it doesnt close the player as in the stock version)
2)The light effects dont work
3)Both the speakers dont work all the time, though the dual speaker fix has come a great rescue.
So my question-
Are there custom roms solely developed for LWW??(with everything working)
Are Devs working on LWW??
There is a MIUI, specially made for LWW, however not sure about the functionality at the moment.
Yeah I saw it,the comments said there are a few bugs
Sent from my WT19i
I installed MiniCMSandwich today,it also has problems, the light doesnt work, both speakers work only with xloud

lww opinion ...

Trying to find suitable rom and kernel for my lww , it has to be speed , low memory usage, good battery and bug less ...
i was searching for it on forum and found 3-4 solutions ..--- > (ExMIUIv4-2929 , RealICS_r6 , HASA v5 and Hasa MUIU 2.10.12)...
(didnt even look for kernel yet couse i didnt chose rom...)
Please can you share your opinions with me?
..... delete this thread if it doesnt belong here or if it gets cobweb (arachnid) ....
its your phone so take this decision yourself chooose the one you like more, i suggest kernel panic
In my opinion, others opinion will vary from your opinion so decide for yourself!
hit thanks if I've helped!
sent from my smultron
is better for my 587 with stock kernel ICS v3 Kernel KrSH :highfive:
No rom is as fast as Unlimited & yes its very light too. Battery life depends on various things not only rom. so yea u can always experiment a little & decide what suits u best
In my opinion, RealICS_r6 with MESA kernal works great on lwW :good:
If you like Xperia NXT styled UI then I would suggest JellySandwich 6.2.1 + panic kernal
If u like the pure android UI (Nexus style) then go for CM 9.1
I have used both. Speed wise (I mean the speed that you actually feel while u are using the phone and not the numbers suggested by benchmarks) I would say JellySandwich is better and more stable. But there are certain handy features in CM which arent there in JellySandwich like changing screen brightness by sliding finger over statusbar, long press volume buttons to seek tracks, better pop up window to adjust system sounds and loads more. Anyways I'm sticking to JellySandwich for now (And I love the Xperia UI)

I installed the ROM aswell today, at first attempt the installation crashed when I choose the option of HTC wifi 'something' option, but after a reset it installed smooth.
Very happy with the ROM!

Elegancia Review
I migrated over to Elegancia from the AOSP ROMs ( Half-Sense, Fulmix ) after finding both still having a few bugs (hopefully these will be squashed in due time). I'm not a huge fan of the Sense stuff so wasn't too excited about that aspect of the Elegancia ROM, but was interested to see how well it held up in terms of bugs, functionality and performance.
The install
Aroma installer was simple to use and worked well. Some of the options could be better explained (Wi-fi regional 'fixes'?) but for the most part it was all very self-explanatory. You get to choose whether to install many of the stock HTC apps or leave them out, as well you're given a few alternative apps to install. I had no crashes or bugs (eg. Aroma apps and options I selected did actually get installed).
Initial boot and setup
The bootup takes a short while the first time and then you're taken straight to the setup process. Unusually, I got asked to select what mobile network operator I was with, which was new to me. The rest of the setup process is the familiar HTC routine. There were no crashes due to missing apks or other oddities that you can get when stripping out major components of the stock ROM.
Look and Feel
Once you're all setup, the UI is very similar to the stock ROM at first glance. But the you notice the nice matte effects on some of the widgets, the lockscreen, and the little flourishes like the blue battery icon (you have to select this in Aroma if you want it), the blue background in the toggles under settings, and of course the tabbed quick settings which look great and work perfectly. The system as a whole feels very responsive, without any noticeable lag or glitches.
Under the Hood
The Software Information indicates "Elegancia - Sense 4.1 v1.0.0" and the Software Update feature to enable future Elegancia updates appears to work though there are no OTA updates to test just yet. Checking the terminal, the system name is set to 'Elegancia' which is a nice touch. Also the init.d support and busybox is confirmed to be working. You can also see the various init.d scripts correctly installed under /system/etc/init.d Root is working fine with SuperSU dealing with root access requests.
Sound and Vision
Audio on this ROM is great. Beats audio is enhanced with xloud which increases the overall volume without distortion. The end result sounds good, though a control panel with some customisability (a la Awesome Beats perhaps) would be a nice feature. The Bravia patch is applied but I find it hard to tell much difference between Stock and Bravia. Games play just fine and I've noticed no graphic glitches or drawing errors.
Final Thoughts
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the ROM and the attention to detail. Things just work, some things work better, and the build quality is high. Overall I'd say it's a great 1.0 release, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for this ROM. Well done!
i tried all the roms here!!..but now i am back to elegancia..
I'm content with Elegancia too, it's the first ROM I've flashed, thanks to a lot of research I learned that Elegancia is the most polished ROM out there for the Desire X.
There are a few bugs I would like to report:
Chrome is not working for some odd reason, as soon as I boot chrome, I get an empty browse screen, which then turns of and states "Chrome has stopped working". This has never happened to me before I flashed Elegancia.
In the Quick-Settings tab half of the text is German, half of it is English and a little bit of Dutch in between, this shouldn't be too hard to get around though.
Synchronization is a bit messed up (the device starts random synchronizing, and does that without having synchronization enabled). Once I want to synchronize however, I have to do this manually, cause the "automatic synchronize" button does not function anymore.
And last but not least: Even though battery life was promised to be improved, I noticed this did not have any effect (although I have used my device quite heavily lately).
Furthermore, all the other tweaks and improvements still make the ROM worthwhile, these are just minor complaints (and I hope these can be fixed easily)!
That's odd about the quick settings language. I can't recall that being an issue with my install (not on elegancia atm). Also my chrome and sync had worked fine. Have you tried reflashing?

Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to do that next week :good:
One issue is with HTC Scene does not work, at least the wall paper come with black matte instead of yellow.
You can change the wallpaper. The default for elegancia is the matte skin.
