Hi all I'm new rip these forums so be nice please .
I just had a few questions about flashing custom roms on my galaxy ace (specifically gingerreal 1.4). I do have a rooted phone and cmw recovery
I've searched everywhere with no results so there why I'm posting a thread
Any help would be much appreciated
1. Do I need an unlocked bootloader to flash custom roms because I read on a webpage that you do or does rooting unlock the bootloader?
2. Step 1 was " flash stock kph/kpo(bootloaders are the most important)"
Im aldready running the stock rom so do I still have do do this?
3. for gingerreal there were different basebands to chose from. I run ddkq6 but there was dkq5 there. Does this matter or can I pick any baseband?
4. Whats the difference between creating a nandroid backup and flashing the stock rom with odin? Aren't they kinda the same?
If theres any other help you could offer me that may make flashing gingerreal easier please write it down out would help me a lot especially to those of you who are running gingerreal
Thanks in advance
we dont have an bootloader to be unlocked

1. Haven't heard anyone with SGA bootloader locked.. infact samsung do lock bootloaders??
2. No you can flash it directly [i always did that and never had problem]
3.Flash directly
4.Nandroid backup is creating backup and odin is wiping everything and start from scratch rom.. i hope you know what is backup and fresh
Thank you both so much, but for baseband version what do you mean flash it directly? Do you mean pick any baseband , download and flash. And sorry for having words in my sentences that don't belong, still getting used t .swype

Hi Adriano,

Hi all,
I want to try flashing a rom.am on syock now DDKQ6 what all i need to do to flash a new rom and wht rom can i flash.
above questions seem to be dumb but i am a newbee.. have rooted my mobile have CWM 4.0.0.9 on my device.
Help is really appriciated.
First... If you are new to all of this... Do some research... and please, please please please, READ CAREFULLY ... And READ CAREFULLY AGAIN ... Then flash This ROM ... Is the best...
But reading and understanding the flashing process is a MUST
EDIT: You must install CWM 5 ... Can flash it thru CWM 4, find it here
hello everyone, i really need help in rooting and flashing custom roms in my galaxy s2 i9100g. the problem is that i cant find proper custom roms for my phone. i am capable of rooting my phone, its just a matter of finding the insecure kernel and flashing it then using superoneclick and then flashing the original kernel back in. but what would i benefit if i cant install custom roms. by the way. to install roms i need clockworkmod recovery right? please some1 help me i really want to do this and experience the full power of android
Thanks in advance =)
What you would benefit if you can't install custom roms? I you can't root your device with those guides that is here I suggest you to not root. You will probably end up bricking your phone.
And btw, searching google for it shows even more sites with guides..did you put any effort at all in trying to find out yourself or are you just lazy?

Cool story bro,...changed my life forever
Seems to me you already know how to root? Now are you asking for custom ROM for i9100g?
You can try CM first.

And I found you posted in the wrong forum. The following forum is for i9100g. Go dig there is better.

Wow - this forum is huge
Although I am new to Samsung Galaxy S3 I am prepared to work for it. I just don't want to start flashing unstable files. Which is why I thought I would ask here first.
Question
I have just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 and I have rooted it yesterday via Odin and in my apps I can now see CWM V3.60 and SuperSU Now I am looking for some advice please?
What is Cyanogen 10.1? I have been reading about it but don't fully understand? is it for installing Roms that supersedes Samsung software 4.1.2? and is there a safe tutorial you can point me to?
Also I want to get rid of the bloatware on this device can anyone please point me in the right direction of how I go about doing this?

CM Its a custom built Android firmware not Samsung firmware .

The bloatware thread in Themes and Apps or flash a custom rom with bloatware removed .
Best to read all the faqs and guides before starting .

Hi guys. Im a fish here and I need some instructions. I was using CWM on my S3 mini and ive made a success, now I have bought S3 and I want to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-smartdroid-v1-0-t2602543 . I need step-by-setp instructions how to run devil recovery and so on so on. I have S3 in stock, not rooted etc. Please help or send me to certain thread. Thanks alot!
Go read the sticky thread in general forum, CF autoroot then backup your efs. Install a custom recovery to flash your custom rom.
Follow the guides exactly, it's quite easy to brick these phones.
