Beats audio outside of HTC music player yet? - HTC Rezound

Any hope for beats audio with Google music or Pandora? Or just always stock HTC app. I got to believe somebody can figure this out! anything??

I believe beats is putting its api/hooks out for other apps to plug into their audio processing. Sooooo it will be up to reach app dev to integrate.

Yeah, too much lows, a touch too much mids, and not even close to enough highs. That about sums up Beats audio ;-)

Beats audio is just a gimmick.

I'm not positive but I know someone posted an EQ curve that emulates beats audio, maybe a google search will pull it up. Also Volume+ has a beats audio setting built in so that is another option

Beats isn't that great to be honest. Just install the equalizer app and make your own EQ for your own music. That way you can customize it based on the music you're listening too.

DSPManager is on my Ineffabilis Rom.. I haven't used it because I like beats.. It really is a good combination IMHO... I would however like it to work with Google Music and Pandora... I will play with it and see if I can emulate the beatsaudio sound..
If anyone else comes up with anything, please post it here..

The one named equalizer, dsp manager is OK but the equalizer app has an effect option for a virtualizer which makes everything sound so much better.

Best to push it to system/app but can be installed like a normal .apk.

Hey guys, After I installed DSP Manager it just continually force closes. Any ideas?

A 6dB boost at 1 kHz?!? Wouldn't that make it sound like you were listening to music over the telephone?
Any adjustments over 2 or 3 dB are gonna make the music sound unnatural, IMO. The Beats earbuds aren't the best you could do by any means, but they certainly aren't bad. If you want a good EQ setting, try cutting, rather than boosting frequencies. You are far less likely to get distortion that way. If you need more overall volume, you can boost the preamp gain a little.
Remember, when it comes to EQ for music listening, less is more.

the Media player "Poweramp" uses the beats audio plugin the Poweramp media player as itself without beats blows any other player away hands down the competition isn't even close in sound quality and functionality.
under the tone settings <just to the right of EQ> there is a option to turn beats & srs on and off. You can also mix in Stero X if you want to for a simulated surround sound.
---------- Post added at 09:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 PM ----------
Every "tune" is going to be different and much more so than the application your using but the headphones / speakers make a massive difference.
No EQ or beats audio plugin is going to make your $35 wal-mart or skull candy headphones sound like a $200 set of Bose.
I've used the DSP Manager app I prefer one called "Equalizer" for use with Pandora & or Slacker radio. both have their strengths I think equalizer has a cleaner sound than DSP manager is capable of.

Beats Audio for all apps thread in the Rezound Development section. I used this on Gingerbread ROMs.
Any custom Sense 4 ROM is system-wide Beats Audio as well, assuming the developer implemented the Beats Audio correctly.
I recommend PowerAmp as the primary music player too, it truly is worth the cash and has more powerful control over the EQ settings.
Also: try downloading SoundBest Music Player Lite from the Play Store to get an idea of what EQ settings sound best to you and your audio equipment. The UI is horrible for playing the music itself... but the setup for the EQ uses a hearing test. Used the results as a guideline in other apps and they really do help to pin down a good sound signature. :good:

Great speaker sound

im sorry if its been mentioned before but I'm pretty sure we all agree our speaker sucks for playing music, ringtones whatever. But I just downloaded the app Crackle and was watching Bad Boys and wow the sound is amazing! I had it turned up all the way and it was way to loud I had to turn it down. Stupid question tho does that app or ones close to it have idk extra sound booter or something in it?

Crackle is just an app for downloading vids, it may have some sort of built in eq but it aint gonna fix the system wide sound issue. Its a crappy speaker with too much treble nd not enough volume.

Yes it is a crappy speaker but it can't be all the bad if watching movies with that app the speaker its great. So we are not getting the full sound with the ringtones and everything I mentioned before. Looks good. Worth $1.60 to see if it helps, and getting better stereo sound, etc. is a bonus.
Edit:
OK, just played around with it a bit. Since I am in the office, I can't tell about the speaker, but the headphones are amazing with the virtual room effect turned on.
I'm thinking this might be the best $1.60 I've spent in quite a while!

[MOD][ICS] SRS Audio Effects

Hi all
Here's SRS audio effects for ICS, originally released for X8 and X10 by paul-xxx here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582417
I own nothing for this except the modification of update.zip and a file inside (to get it working with Xperia arc).
This is a real sound enhancement, rather than the fake beats audio.
This should be working on stock ICS firmwares and stock-based ICS ROMs and it should be compatible with xLOUD.
It should also be compatible with other 2011 Xperia devices (those with xLOUD)
DO NOT INSTALL IF YOU HAVE SOUND ENHANCEMENT (THE WALKMAN ONE) THEY ARE INCOMPATIBLE.
What it contains:
- SRS WOW
- SRS TrueBass
- Android Equalizer
- Android Normalizer
- EQ Pressets
- SRS Panel (Patched MusicFX)
Requirements:
- Android 4.0.1 or above (NO Gingerbread)
- Root permission
- The following systems files REMOVED (if they exist):
-- 1. /system/lib/soundfx/ and remove libcyanogen-dsp.so
-- 2. /system/lib/soundfx/ and remove libbundlewrapper.so
-- 3. /system/app/ and remove DSPManager.apk
-- 4. /system/app/ and remove MusicFX.apk
Install it:
Method 1
Download the attached zip and flash it in CWM
The above 4 system files will be removed automatically.
Method 2
Download the attached zip and copy the content to /system/ with correct permissions.
NOTE!
If you find the SRS options are disabled, insert your headphone.
If you don't insert headphone it will look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When headphone is inserted it will look like this:
SRS TrueBass requires nice headphones/speakers to attain bass enhancement.
With low-quality headphones/speakers it will only break the bass! With the stock headphones and the speaker of the phone you may not hear any improvement.
I tried and compared the effects with stock headphones and LiveSound, LiveSound sounded better than stock one.
Again, thanks to paul-xxx
i tried and givesme an error
"UNFORTUNATELY, SOUND ENHANCEMENTS HAS STOPPED"
it seems that the app crash in some point
thks for the help

No it doesn't work with stock music player because you can't open the srs panel using stock music player. You need the Google music player

There is one which works by replacing sound enhancement, still be warned the bass in this is no where near to the one in walkman s sound enhancement, and after using this you can't get the sound enhancement equ of walkman working without a nandroid restore
Thank you,

The first post is a little bit misleading, cause it was not working with the stock ICS player But after reading the thread I installed Google Music player and now it works satisfactory. You can make the volume a lot louder than the stock player (especially trebble) but never mind using the bass thing, the music gets distorted right away. But all in all I like it.

I did switch back to SRS Panel when I installed Walkman.
Oh.. is the Walkman Widget strictly for Xperia Launcher, similar to HTC and its Widgets?
Edit: I did get SRS Panel to work.. WOW! Why did I not look into Walkman earlier? Everything.. I mean everything sounds so rich, its ridiculous. You did an amazing job.

Best possible audio!!!!!!

Any audiophiles in here know how to squeeze the best sounding audio outta this phone? I am a sucker for sound quality and I would like to know the best setup, app, settings, Audi files (that actually play on this phone)(flac doesn't seem to work), ect......I honestly don't think the beats audio zip for ALL apps even does anything cause I can't tell a difference (hell, that may even be why i was having in-car call quality issues). Thanks in advance guys!!

Not sure why you would want it, but the Beats installer from the Play Store works.

I don't use beats. Waste of resources since it sits standby until you plug headphones in.

First and foremost, use Titanium Backup (or whatever means you have) to freeze/disable HTCBeatsNotify and Music Enhancer. Say NO to sound defects!

Subtle changes and it works great. But equalizer settings can vary based on the type of music and even the way it was mixed. Tone knobs off.

That is how it is, Sony phones are tend to be little gentle on the volume, especially if you compare it to the M8.
I think all water proof phones have low volumes due the seal.

What things did you try to boost volume so far?
I've been playing with the settings and found a way to almost double the volume on the ringer, music is (for me) almost unbearably loud...

Start a song on the walkman and crank up the volume to max, then go to settings and tap sound:

}
Tap 'Sound Effects'
Stick to the above settings for the best result and tap 'Sound Enhancements'
Choose a EQ setting which you like.
Now tap the Settings tab, On this setting the volume is maxed up, but you can play around with it and check whatever you like best.
For me, this way the music is even louder then I can bare at max volume...

Does the xLoud setting also have an effect on the volume of Notifications, Ringtones, Alarms, etc? Or only music playback through the Walkman app?

It has effect on all of the sound out of your Z2, the whole 'Sound Enhancements' does.
go to the equalizer and put everything at +10

Excellent!
I'll be sure to test it out when I get home from work. Hopefully this will sort out the fairly quiet alarm sounds since I use my phone as an alarm clock.
So by editing the equalizer, that effects the notifications sounds? E.g put all tabs up to +5? As they are my only issue at the moment, just not loud enough!
I use this as my notification tone, although low I can hear it even in other room. Try it out, gorgeous affect it creates! Shows full quality and depth of the speakers. :angel:

Sony should tweak the equaliser setting for the speaker. It sounds like it is trying to push out too much bass and the mids and highs get muffled as a result.
I have an xperia play and it's sound output is not as warm as the Z2 but it's louder (too loud) and cleaner because it is pushing out no bass. The xperia play has really clean mids and really freaking high highs.
Try viper4android,you can boost up to +6db
