Not unless you backed them up. They may be there if you did a nandroid right before flashing and restore from it.

going forward, Go SMS has a real handy backup tool built in

I personally have been using Super Backup from the Market. It has an option to backup SMS, Contacts & Call Logs to .XML files. You can even mail them to yourself from within the app

If you use gmail as your email, SMS Backup + is cool.
It allows you to automatically backup SMS, MMS and call log entries using a separate label in Gmail / Google Calendar. It is also possible to restore SMS and call log entries back to the phone.

Thanks for the tips!

Saving text app settings? Handcent or GoSMS

Is it possible to backup/restore the settings of either of these apps? After flashing a new ROM I can restore all my apps and settings via TB but neither Handcent or GoSMS have this ability. I have to tweak all the damn settings and colors which gets annoying. GoSMS has the ability to backup/restore SMS but I don't see anything for the settings and theming.

I manage to make a theme for my Handcent account and then I Sync it with my Handcent account and I everytime I get a new Rom I just login and Restore my theme.. and it works for me... I don't know about GoSMS...
Hope I answer your question...
Does that include customizations to the bubble and text color in conversations?
Believe me, if it's not a feature of go sms yet, give them a week... Those guys are relentless! They're the only stock replacement developers I use: launcher, sms and contacts/dialer are all top notch (GO Weather is still borked though, go figure lol no pun intended haha)

I stand corrected, the feature is already there. GO SMS allows back up of messages AND settings!

I think I'm blind, where is the option to backup/restore settings?
Use titanium backup for all the options it saves all the data, and back your text with go SMS pro.

Weird, my first post-GoSMS ROM flash only restored SMS but not settings while a recent wipe/flash I was able to restore settings as well. Not even TB restored GoSMS settings before.
Just uninstalled Handcent because restoring settings is a major selling point.
EVERY time I restore my Handcent with TB everything is fine. All my settings and customizations. The only thing it won't backup is the sms/mms. That's why I paid for the backup settings. I don't understand why you would be having any problems.
Me either lol. I bought TB pro and far from new to flashing, TB, etc. I'm just glad everything works now.

Call logs

Is there any way to change the sgs2 call logs so that it does not show text messages? I know I xan change it to show only missed or dialled calls etc but I like to see all logs on the same screen but not text messages?

Not on stock ROM.
If you install a custom ROM, such as CriskeloROM, it would remove messages from the call logs area.
So that would mean rooting? I guess I will just have to put up with it then as I don't think its worth rooting just for this one small thing.
Thanks for the help.

[Q] SMS backup app

hi xda members,
i'd like to know if is there an app the backups the text messages (sms) right after you receive them? i mean the sms arrives and immediatly the app backs it up.
thanks
There is this one app that backs up all your mesages into an xml file
but i am not aware of any app that backs a text as soon as it arrives
Sry :/
SMS Backup And Restore from the Market is as close as you will get. You can setup automated backups. I have mine set to do a backup overnight, that way all the texts I get that day are added on to the XML file overnight.

(Q) default phone/contacts

I was wanting to know the way to replace the system phone/contacts with rocketdial? I've tried this before,by deleting system phone and contacts thru TB but got tons of FCs.

you dont need to delete anything install app and then change phone and contact shortcuts icons in your home screen by the ones of the app
howver you can use system contacts if you want and after install the app if you go to a contact and press to make a call it will ask you wich dialer you want to use by definition you mark the box and choose app dialer and thats it...
i try it, before post sorry for my english but dont delete those apps from system the solution is right there.
just press thanks if i help you
Hi...
I am currently using Neko95 GingerSnap, and, since i tried MIUI, i loved the UI, i use ExDialer.
When i missed a call, the notification only disappear (automatic) if i open the stock app.
I Linked exdialer to ex partition of sd, rebooted and converted to sys app (Link2SD).
You still have the stock apps, but they are small...
The next thing that i will try, after consult the community if it works, is to, before flash, exchange the stock apps for the ones that i will use... (if someone that reads this can tell, please...)
With best regards, Shaib Lftg
Are you talking about extracting the rom than replace the phone and contacts apk with the dialer and contacts you plan on using ie...rocket dial and renaming it to phone.apk and vice versa

I don't like the idea of having multiple applications which have the same function on my phone... ie...
Stock browser-dolphin browser, stock mms-go SMS pro..you get the picture...

Rom with better messaging app.

I want a messaging app which shows previously used numbers in the send to list as soon as start typing first few numbers. Currently it only shows saved contacts not the unsaved numbers I sent the message earlier. I hope I'm making sense. This feature was available in htc android phones. It's quite important for me to have this feature.
Thanks in advance.
I think handcent can do the job. Download it from the market
