The reason I have made this thread is because I find the Nook Tablet and the Kindle Fire very similar, I have searched in tech forums and blogs the full specs of these devices and they have the same prpssessor and, screen resolutiond, mother moard, etc.
That made me wonder if is possible to make a port of Kindle Fire's CM7 to the Nook Tablet, and flash it using acclaim_update.zip method,
There is a method to unpack the .img files and we can repleace the needed files to boot the NT in CM7 without breaking the original recovery.
I'd personaly try this but I'm away from my computer for the next 2 weeks, I have experience doing this kind of stuff for my xperia x10 and nexus s and made a couple of custom roms for my personal use.
I will try to do it on a crappy netbook and I will let you know the news

It would be an interesting approach.

Go to FreakTab dot com. The guys over there have Fully rooted the Stock firmware and converted the stock cramfs file system to ext4. There is separate ROMs for the Polaroid 7200 or 700. Includes the latest Google Market and Talk. This makes the Tablet super fast and stable. ( I have the PMID700 running finless bobs Polaroid 700 v1.4 with market ) All the info, drivers, and rom is in a 100 mb zip at Freaktab.
The performance gain and usefulness is so amazing... don't wait, read up and upgrade your tablet today. Its unbelievable the improvement.
The guys at Freaktab have figured out how to root various cramfs Tablets and convert to ext3 or ext4 from the stock Update.zip. Arnova, Polaroid, Nextbook 7, Go Clever, MOMO7, Most or all Rockchips based and Requests for Rockchip based Tablets.

I'm.new and to make sure I'm following the right post... The PMID703c is a Rockchip, Allwinner A8 or A10 tablet?

Finally The PMID703c is rootable
I have Found The Solution so you can root and put custom roms and everything else you desire to do on the PMID703c!!
If you plash the firmware that I will upload in my next comment you get the playstore automatically installed already rooted and everything and it only has a few issues, the tablets hard home button is now the volume up button the hard volume up button is now the volume down button and the screen has to stay in landscape mode because the tilt sensor thinks that up is down but I am confident that if someone helps that develops firmware or knows how to fix this helps we can do the rooting flawlessly
I have discovered that the firmware will not fit as an attachment so i must get you a link for it i will publish it to an open google drive
BEWARE DO NOT try to change SYSTEM FONTS!!! The Tablet WILL get stuck in the all mighty infamous Boot Loop, And using clockwork mod to try and fix it will NOT work when you get stuck in boot loop with this tablet you must re flash with firmware
my wifi shuts off in 10 minutes if i do not get you links by tonight i can get them to you in the morning
my last resort is to make a picture post of how to get to the links unfortunately you will have to type them yourself
Most, if not all, Polaroid tablets are rooted right out of the box! That's pretty cool I must say. All I did was install SuperUser and ROManager and it asked for Root Permission. That's what I did to make sure it was really rooted, or you could just download a Root Checker app to see if its really rooted. Now the only thing I want is a Recovery of some sort and a ROM for it. Its the Polaroid PMID704, no luck searching on those sites mentioned in previous post though. Also was able to over clock it to 1200 from the stock 1008. Occasionally it gets frozen, maybe cause of the Over clocking, I heard 1100-150 is a good area, in case someone else wants to know with the same tablet.
Try the website freaktab.com they I know have lots of good roms for lots of devices would you mind telling me the specs on the pmid704

Your Tablet Not Supported!
it looks as if Polaroid no longer supports this tablet, I'm sorry bud, i cant help or find anywhere anything that is useful to your situation your best bet atm would be to send polaroid a message and get them to send you instructions on how to reset your tablet or atleast give you a copy of the firmware/rom for your tablet or maybe even get them to fix it for you

I was just wondering if there was any recovery/rom development started for us yet? I exchanched a kindle fire for nook tab because of the more ram and storage, but may go back if we're not gonna get the development the fire has already. I've this device, but sure is a lot harder to customize than the fire.

You don't need much to customize this thing besides root really (or at least it helps a bunch).
This is what I managed to throw together today.
there is this too....

In terms of customizing - you can get a pretty customized/pure android tablet experience with root and a third party launcher (i use golauncher). The unlocked bootloader will be nice to allow for things like overclocking and hopefully enabling the Bluetooth chip but otherwise I'm very happy with the functionality as it stands now.
Okay, we've got our bootloader unlocked, we're rooted, CWM, and custom rooms; where's the dual booting linux? I know we have that vpn stuff, but what about turning this beast into a computer. We could even get some of this hacking in on the go with backtrack. I may be wrong, but this is all possible, right? I'm a bit of a noob in dual booting on a tablet, so don't flame if I'm way off or something, but I think it would be neat... Thoughts, ideas, etc.... tell me what you think.
Edit: Or do we need nvflash unlocked?
Edit2: Okay guys, now we know (or at least I do) that Ubuntu is in progress. You can check it out over at www.androidroot.mobi. Soo.. Lets make this the discussion thread (Info, Q's, discussions, debates, etc... whatever...). Enjoy and I'll try to update with new info (feel free to give your insight)
I am sure you'll get flamed for posting in the wrong section but I am eagerly awaiting someone to get dual boot running.
My no development skills at all guess is nvflash is the problem.
We'll let someone who knows correct me though.

Ubuntu is being worked on for the TFP, similar to what it was for the TF (by the same developer)
Next time, please post in the proper section.

Anyone knows if there is already a public repository for the Ubuntu dualboot?
Would love to help out =]
Also is the same approach used as for the TF101 dualboot or is the partitioning different?
Keep up the great work so far guys!
I hope to see dual boot with Ubuntu one day as it'll save me the trouble of keeping my netbook for days when I need to do MATLAB and other things exclusive to PCS. Would love to see an implementation where android is still kept in internal memory and Ubuntu is kept in the microsd/sd (not sure how performance would be if this was the case though)

Does anyone know if there is a public repository already for the TFP201? Maybe I can contribute =]
And do you guys know if someone else other than lilstevie is working on a dual boot solution?
Currently I'm a bit cautiousness about flashing due to the 'brick 2 option'

Is there a version of MATLAB that will run on an ARM architecture? I looked it up before I got my prime and came up empty. I would be very interested if you could share a link.
Hi All,
I have an Acer Aspire One running ICS.
The thing is practically useless, however I was hoping to re-instate its usefulness.
I was hoping to run things like Emit and Splashtop on the netbook so when i am at hope I can utilise my desktop PC's power while on the Netbook.
My only problems are as follows:
a) I cannot download these apps from Market as they are not compatible
b) If I make a backup on my tablet/phone (of the app I paid for) using Androzip or the like and install the APK manually, the app force closes, presumably due to hardware/software incompatibility.
I am hoping to find alternate apps that my provide a similar solution that MAY work.
Obviously the netbook also has Win7 Starter, however running anything in windows seems to stretch the poor thing beyond its limits, hence I am attempting to find a solution in android if possible.
Thanks for any assistance in advance!!
Scott

I up and decided I want to jailbreak my ps3 and wanted to know if anyone here knows about it. I have a done some reason and some of what I'm reading says I need to an e3 flasher to do the downgrade necessary to accept custom firmware but I've been reading other sites saying they were able to downgrade without that mod. So what I want to know is can I jailbreak a cech-2001a ps3 slim that is on the latest firmware(4.31) without that piece?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
There's a website that you can look at. I can't remember the name but its like ps3jailbreak or something like that its a forum site like xda and you can go to it with tapatalk. I know mine was unable to be jailbroken even with the e3 flasher, I just happened to have the only model that wasn't possible to do it with any method. Also I'm not sire if there's a jailbreak for the newest firmware yet, my brother said the same people who work on the idevice jailbreaks do the ps3.

I have the first generation of slim ps3 so I'm certain it can be done but that e3 flasher seems to be about the most difficult to use device ever. In every forum I have looked at there is post after post about how the e3 bricked their ps3. I think I'm going to look into buying a stock 3.55 firmware ps3 and jailbreak it. Besides I'll end up spending about the same amount and it will take less time.

Yeah I would just do that, the install for the e3 is very tedious.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using xda premium
Follow the instructions and its not that bad of an install. Problem is finding a legit e3 flasher, there are so many fake ones out there.
Find an e3 flasher without the esata dock and by one seperate. The one that comes with it is crap and you can find a cheaper one thats better.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using xda app-developers app
I still haven't seen a legit one anywhere. People have to rig cardboard and crap to get the thing to fit properly and i think that is what screws everything up. I'll just try to find a 3.55 ps3 and softmod. It.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
why is the e3 flasher needed for if it was possible to jailbreak when geohot made it?
