I know that I have hboot 1.5 and that I need to flash radios through fastboot.
Since you have hboot 1.4, I THINK you can flash through recovery. Dont take my word for it as Ive no need to flash a radio and havent on this particular device.
Make a nandroid and be certain that you have the correct radio.
put the PG86IMG.zip file on the root of sdcard
boot in to hboot, hboot will see it select update

Be certain its the radio update file and NOT the factory reset. Easily noticeable by the size of the files.

run it for day. then flash a different radio and try that one. but if its working well, leave it be.
most often a rom will run better with its corresponding radio

You can, but the hboot will stay the same (1.5). Just do it through fastboot>recovery to be sure you get it all.

If you boot into recovery from fastboot you'll be fine. You're s-on, right?
yeah I am, and to be honest I haven't even rooted yet because I'm so mad my other 3vo messed up and the htc unlocker doesn't sit too well with me :-( seems like a hassle and you can't revert to stock if something goes wrong and need a repair by sprint (from what I've heard/read anyways, please correct me if I'm wrong) oh and using adb to flash roms and kernels seem like a ***** too. I'm used to flashing roms and kernels at work now I need a pc to be able to..... :-(

You won't be able to restore a backup unless you're rooted. You CAN return to stock if you want to after unlocking with htc, I don't know who started the idea that you can't, but they're completely false. As far as flashing ROMs, all you need to do is boot into recovery with fastboot, once you get there, you don't need to be hooked up until you want to flash something else (after rebooting). Its really not that difficult.
Also, some people are stating that when you flash a ROM on 1.5 hboot it doesn't work right - also completely false. My friend is S-off, I'm S-on, The only difference between our phones is he can flash wherever he wants, I have to fastboot to recovery.
no I know I have to be rooted lol, hmm sounds good n not so scary anymore! Lol my brother rooted my cousins 3vo hboot 1.5 and s-on and he said the only bad thing is that when you flash a kernel or Rom with a custom kernel you have to do it through adb through the pc. If this is not the case PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE point me in the right direction. And thanks for your time to help me

1.5 hboot = fastboot to recovery - good to go.
Evo 3D
HBoot 1.5
Aright so i rooted a few days ago and i have had some problems with the phone... mainly that it will reboot randomly and i have to take the battery out to get it to start back up again. I have tried a few ROMs and Kernels but nothing seems to of worked. Now after all of it my WiFi/4G does not work. Well i tried putting the PG86IMG.zip in my SD card root and when i go into HBoot it picks the file up but it never gets past Parsing.... It checks then says Parsing and goes back to HBoot
A little help would be much appreciated
Hey from the sounds of your issue sounds like a bad kernel flash is causing your wifi and 3g issue along with the random reboots and did you wipe right when you flashed another rom?
Also the PC img your using it's not called PG86IMG.zip.zip alot of people do that on accident and that will cause issues.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can't flash a PG86IMG.ZIP with s-on and if you have hboot 1.50 there's no s-off method for now.
You need to flash roms or kernel using the adb fastboot method.

I think that is true lol. He kinda lost me there on the post. I know he has the latest Hboot so you can't flash a Zip file which your right about.
how exactaly do i return it to stock then if i cant flash the zip from hboot?
and sorry i didnt really know how to explain it but any suggestions on which kernel to use? i cant seem to find one that doesnt break the wifi or make my phone reboot if it is left alone for too long

Well maybe he can try the flash image GUI app and try to reflash the kernel from the rom he installed.
Flash image gui

Open the app browse to the rom.zip you installed. Make sure wipe dalvik cache and cache are checked in this app and flash it. Hope it works.

There are guides in the development section that show you how to do it. It all depends on if your phone is cdma or gsm, and what hboot you have.
Also, flashing this ROM: RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_ARA_1.24.415.6_Radio_10.59.9020. 00_10.15.9020.06_M_release_22091 7_signed.exe

If you flash that, that's an ruu and will unroot you. Also, you do not need root to flash an ruu.

I have read somewhere procedure to flash rom to phone:
Enter vol down + power and enter recovery
Mount storage and coipy rom to root of phone
Wipe data and then
Install zip file from sdcard
Is this procedure correct and enough and/or do i need some more steps?
YOur answer will really help me...thanks
Almost correct. You need to wipe data, cache, and dalvik. And also make a nandroid backup before wiping.
And FYI, you still need root to flash a rom.

You dont need root to flash any ROM, root is just having superuser.apk and binary in your ROM.
Your NAND protection needs to be unlocked via HTC method or revolutionary.io to install a ROM.

For a ROM with Arabic support, search in the GSM developmet section of 3D.
It should be zip file instead of exe .
It does not matter whether you are rooted or not to install a ROM.
Just make sure your bootloader is unlocked via revolutionary.io , or HTCdev.com (if revolutionary is unsupported)
Also you should have a custom recovery.
So, you mean to say i need bootloader unlocked to flash ruu shipped roms right? BTW how do i know if my bootloader is unlocked or not?
BTW downloaded program from revolutioary.io, how do i use this program to unlock bootloader?
Thanks

Nah, for RUU.exe you need a locked bootloader and for flashing the ROMs made by XDA devs , you need unlocked bootloader.
If you are going to use RUU exe dont unlock bootloader and dont use revolutionary and dont install custom Recovery..
Use them only if you want to flash ROMs made by XDA devs.
But be sure that the RUU you are using is made for your phone, or you will end up with a bricked phone.

Yes , you cant just use any RUU of any region I guess, you should use only the RUU made for phones of your region.
The RUU should contain the hboot same as yours or a new version.
It should not contain hboot of lower version than your current one..

Run the RUU exe without connecting your phone to PC.
When the 1st screen of RUU appears, minimise it > open my computer > then in your windows drive > search " rom.zip" .
There should be only one rom.zip > copy it to your desktop or anywhere > close the RUU program > open the rom.zip with winRAR or any software > you will see a list of " .img, .txt, .nb0 " files. One of the ".nb0" file says "hboot_*.*_signedbyaa.nb0"
In my case it is "hboot_1.50.0000_signedbyaa.nb0"
The number infront of the hboot is its version . In my case it is hboot 1.50.0000.

I've been (at least trying to) patiently wait for Deck to post full install instructions for CM10 but the CM10 op is still bare as bones. Has anyone else posted an install guide or instructions yet?
I'm currently rooted with RegawMod and running MeanRom 2.1 and it's really terribly laggy and frustrating, I can't wait any longer for CM10. Do I need S-off to install CM10 or do I just wipe, flash, and go?
Thanks for any help or links!
If you are on hboot 1.15 or higher you have to fast boot flash the kernel.
Other than that its just like a normal aosp install. Wipe flash rom flash gapps.
Its been my daily for 3 weeks.

You don't need s-off. You will however have to flash the boot IMG separately by using fastboot or the app flash image GUI and a full wipe is definitely required. There is a helpful thread in Q&A called "don't panic" that will answer all your questions
Good luck

The S-OFF guide was way over my head so I just let it be. If there's not a real good reason for doing it, and I can still run CM10, then I'd rather not.
It allows you to directly flash new firmware like radios to fix any problems a device might be having. If you have Son and want the latest firmware you have to revert back to stock and accept ota, then unlock reflash recovery and reflash custom ROM or rooted stock, you could also just flash root installer if you want to just root stock

No, S-ON people with 1.12 H-boot can flash radios and firmware from recovery. They can do whatever they please in recovery just like S-OFF. S-OFF users can flash things from bootloader and even change the appearance of their h-boot to read S-ON and **locked** even though they are S-OFF
To the OP, this is the best rooting guide I've seen. It really explains everything step by step. http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...panda-s-htc-dev-ltevo-root-dummies-guide.html Its recommended to have Linux at least bootable, because in the small chance the phone gets bricked... the unbricker program requires linux.
I ran it in windows before the unbricker was available, no issues here
You basically just hook the phone up to it and run the program like you do for most other root programs. All 1-click

Do I need to flash updated firmware / radios separately from CM10, or does CM10 include latest firmware?
Sorry to ask dumb questions, but I do hope this thread will also be a good resource for others like me.
You don't have to flash any firmware updates. There are a few users with issues although they may be related to the ROM update and not necessarily the firmware included. I haven't really checked since I'm s on. If you want to update the radios there's an update zip here somewhere, be sure to read through everything carefully. Radios are more risky then every day flashing
Alright everyone now I need some help!
I flashed CM10 after s-off, was on stocked 1.13 rooted rom.
Now when CM10 boots up I am faced with a phone activation screen. It says something like "you will not be able to place calls or access the mobile network until the device is activated". I am unable to make calls or receive calls or access the internet. I have tried reflashing cm10 and the problem persists.
In the mean time, I will try flashing a nand backup and see where that gets me. I appreciate any and all help, and I have found no posts in the CM10 thread with a similar issue.
Update: I wiped and restored a back-up, MeanRom 2.1. Upon boot, hands-free activation ran and activated the phone and downloaded a PRL update. Everything is working fine now. Not sure if I should try CM10 again or what? Any advice?
