[Q] Faux123 VS Clemsyn - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Did someone know why Clemsyn kernel is so smooth ?
Is just because the GPU and RAM is a bit more OC ?
If not, why Faux doesn't integrate the Clemsyn tips ?
I just want to know why we have 2 very good kernels available and why any dev don't use the best part of each to made the "ultimate one".
Thank you.

i am using cm 7.1 and always used faux kernels i must say i never had any lag issues and if i had any it is just because of ADW launcher i just installed ADWLauncher EX and every thing is silky smoth only problem i face of game glitches (fruit ninja) games run just perfect on froyo 2.2.2. Hope this helps you.
If i helped you then press thanks , if i didn't then press it any ways

Been discussed already. They were going to get together I believe to make a super kernel, but guessing it never happened.

[Q]Which Kernel is better?

Hey Guys
I am currently loving my new SG2
and the fact there is already so much development going on for it makes me excited for the future of this phone,
I just wanted some advice,
I have flashed pulsar_g2's Villian Rom in anticipation of what he has to offer in the future,
Which Kernel is better to use?
I have also Flashed coolbho3000 OC's Kernel so i can play with the OC on my SG2
What is the difference between it and Supercurio's Kernel,
And Which is better to use?
Thanks for your advice

I would recommend the OC kernel, as it has the choice of governors in SetCPU.
Remember that I say this with no reason other than I'd be flashing it, if I had a phone to flash OC seems unnecessary from reviews, but the extra governors seems a good idea.
Thanks for the reply,
I will keep this setup untill bigger and better things get released,
Which shouldn't be to long

[Q] Whats the best rom to use please?

Hi guys i know already properly alot of people have asked this question but what is the best rom to use on galaxy s2.
I just upgraded and got me the galaxy s2 over the sensation and i am loving it so far..But would like to find out what rom out there is best to use on a daily basis. So if anyone has any recommendations i would appreciate it
No best rom try them is the simple answer yet again.
If their was a best rom then their would only be one rom .
I know this answer has been given many many times but its the answer .
jje
The best rom is the one you like the best. Now get flashing.

undervolting has a lot to do with battery life. especially ask laptop owners with core 2 duo's what undervolting does. don't spread false information because you're not impressed or it didn't meet your expectations.

can you change kernels once you are on a custom rom or is always best to go by the one that comes with the rom

ya you can change the kernal of ur choice there is no rule that you have to use the kernal that comes with the rom. you can try speedmods kernal if you want battery life is your priority or go for ninphetamine kernel if you want OC/UV.
So far I found VillainROM + SpeedMod kernel giving me the best battery life, might even be better with undervolting and Black Android theme, but since this ROM doesn't support undervolting and I love my current theme, I haven't tried them.
Just my RM 0.02

[Q] Advice for most suitable ICS kernel for my needs?

Hello everyone.
I am running Pure ICS 7.2 Rom and like it very much.
Now i'm in need of finding the most suitable kernel that does not differ alot from stock kernel.
It does not need alot of functionality.
I just want it to be very stable, fast and light..
So no need for 100 of features im not going to need anyways.
The only feature I currently need is the BLN mod.
All the kernels support this, but in the mean time they support 100 of other things, which leads me to the conclusion, the kernel becomes bloated.
Can someone recommend me the most lightweight/fast/stable kernel.
May i remind you, I dont need overclock, underclock, governors, scheudlers etc etc.. I just want to leave it as is!!!!
NEAK kernel says
"The lightest kernel for I9100 ever made!!"
But I find that hard to believe if one looks at the feature list.. It is HUGE!!!!
Thanks in advance
Try neak, its fast and light.im currently using it
Sent from my GT-I9100
neak is good but give a try to siyah too all depends the way u use it an ull get ur results as which kernel is good for u.no one will tell tht a perticular kernel is the no 1...we all experiment an thts the way it is......cheeerz
Tried a few liking Neat Rom stock and rooted and if you want the ICS look just add ICS Domination 4.1

please read before posting - or try understand the difference between a kernel and rom...
@op the only way to find out is test them yourself - recommended with BLN, would be neak or siyah obviously

Please guys be more precise and read the first post again!!!
I know I can just try different kernels as the first few posts suggest.
But c'mon guys why reinvent the wheel with kernels as well?
I know its a good idea to try different ROMS, and I give the same advice to others, and I have already tried my share of ROMS.
But its just plain stupid doing the same with kernels as well.
In the siyah forum post, some people complain about random restarts etc. The kernel motto is "One kernel to rule them all"..
I DONT NEED SO POWERFULL KERNEL!
I dont need 100 features, 100 governors, support for CM9 and all its functionality etc. etc.. I just want to install and go.
Dont want to play around with scheudlers, governors, OC/UC etc. etc..
You guys catch my drift?
I have very specific demands which I stated in the first post.
I didn't just ask "Which kernel should I use..."
Therefore please only post something, if you have something usefull to say. Not just try NEAK kernel! And why exactly should i try NEAK kernel?
In that forum, people complain about lagging issues etc..
I DONT NEED THAT!
I need a kernel I can flash and forget! Dont want to visit XDA every 2 days to check for updates to the kernel!
Exactly like stock kernels and ROMS. They are only updated maybe once every 6 months or so, because they are stable, and dont crash too often!
I need to have the same experience with the kernel!
well mate, to be honest with ya ICS kernels still obviously aren't 100% stable as sources have only been released for a short period... it obviously sounds like you want a stock Kernel or a kernel similar to SpeedMod, but guess what? they don't have BLN which you stated you wanted. Both Neak and siyah do, and are decent choices, some people prefer one over the other, there is no one better choice, definitely at this current stage in ICS development - so choose one this is why people are saying test one and see for yourself; otherwise move back to gb if you really need BLN and complete stability.

Thanks man for your honest post
Coming from HTC Desire, I was kind of shocked Samsung omitted the notification led ( why o'why would they do that )
And off course all the reviews of SGS2 were praising the phone so much, they didn't state the obvious con of not including this led
Why don't you stay with the cf root kernel until the other kernels get a stable version?

I know what you mean! I had a galaxy s2, however was stolen and found a HTC Desire cheap, so used that for a while, loved the led notification light! However couldn't overlook the fact of the speed of the galaxy s2 and finding one cheap shortly after (thanks ebay!), I reverted back to the s2; one thing its missing is the led, for sure! Though while we do have BLN, it does affect the battery life so isn't really ideal. Though back on topic, if we wait a month I believe we will have stable, fast kernels (whilst also having BLN of course ) , which will shred gb and the custom kernels we had for that.

Best GB kernel for CM7..

Hi all. I m new to SGS2 got it last month.. But that time CM9 was bi famous.. But battery backup sucked.. So thinking of going back to GB(Not for stock!!) CM7. So can anyone tell me which is the best kernel for CM7...
Thanks in advance!!
Having been here a while, you should know better than to ask a question like that. Stick to the stock CM7 kernel or try some compatible kernels till you find one you like.
you realize cm7 default kernel is optimized for best working and battery, thus i really dont understand for thinking to best that!

Best ROM, best kernel, those threads don't last here. The best one is the one that works well on your phone. Try them on for size and make your own decision.

SGP311 OC Kernel?

Guys, do any of you know if there is an OC Kernel for the SGP311 around, or if there is one in development? If not would there be any devs kind enoguh to make one :fingers-crossed:
right now there is no public publishment of a OC kernel for the sgp311 or sgp312. now i am not sure if you are running stock or aosp. but the Carbon dev has a custom kernel that has lower mhz and voltage control plus other things. there is no overclocking on that kernel. but at the moment i have asked him if i can use his kernel as a base to add OC and few more governors thats i like :fingers-crossed:
Hi there.
I was wondering if you've made some progess on the kernel.
Thanks.
There has been a kernel released which allows you to overclock recently (up to 1838 MHz). It's right here. Go show the devs some love. It's for the stock firmware only at the minute, but he's planning on making one for aosp too.

Yeah, i knew about that kernel.
But… well it looks like it's from an inexperienced dev and it doesn't seem to perform well…
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort from the device but it's not for me…

I've been running it and i get the exact same battery life, yet i get a 10322 score on quadrant. I don't seem how it's not performing well...

Well, if you read the (very short) thread it states that the performance is really bad.
At what frequency are you getting this score?
I'm getting 76xx on Quadrant, all stock speeds.
I still have a locked bootloader and am only willing to unlock if there's a good reason for it, like let's say DoomLord's kernel but since he stopped developing for the SGP311 and there's no other experienced dev I'm thinking it's not worth it.
But that's just my opinion.
We really need some good devs for the device, I mean come on, it's a great tablet!
