Volume problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I've been looking for this problem now for a few days @ google / xda but i couldn't found a solution.
Things i've already tried.
Apps: Audio booster, Volume + DSP Manager.
Servicemenu:
call this number *#*#197328640#*#*
This will open the service mode menu.
choose option [5] AUDIO
choose option [1] (VOICE CALL)
choose option [2] HEADSET
choose option [1] Volume
choose option [1] SRC Speech RX Volume
choose option [5] 5_lvl : 87
press the menu button (left side)
choose Key Input
enter a value between 0 and 100, I choose 100 the loudest setting.
press ok
The problem is with the servicemenu.
I can select everything but when i reach the step:
5_lvl: 88 i get the following things on-screen:
-NB_Handset-
SRC Speech RX Volume(DEC)
Input?
Whenever i press the menu button i don't get the white popup bar where i could edit the volume lvls, it just shakes like when i usually click on the menubutton but nothing happends really it just trills not more.
I tryed pushing "Input?" first then the menu button but nothing really happends.
Tried everything.
Is there someone with this same problem or with some tips or tricks??
Using:
Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100)
Cyanogenmod 7 (3.2.7)
If no-one has some ideas i will try a new ROM.

Using CheckRom Revo HD 4 (2.3.6), Siyah Kernel 2.6.5 and DSP Manager audio is loud enough. Using Supercurio's louder, audio volume is TOO loud.
But, what headphones are you using ? Stock or something else ?

I'm using some Gear4 headphones what i also used on my iphone.
tried it with sennheiser/creative/dre headphones all the same volume
what do you suggest to do? audio is quite important for my training, traveling.

level increase
after pressing level 5 you should get input ??? show up on screen. Press the button on the left hand side of phone, not menu or back button. You should get a pop up screen with various options, touch the key input option and then you input the volume you want to increase to e.g 100. then exit.
thats what i do and it works for me.

On the left side on my phone (s2) i have the volume buttons, if i press those the volume just go up or down.
Other button on the right side is the lock/unlock button that also don't work.
What button do you mean cause i tried al buttons, (screenshot of the button maybe? )

Try the app in my sig. Only boosts headset/headphone volume (significantly tho).

NP ;-) Don't forget to thank YahYoh in that thread too. He brought the app to XDA's attention.

Can't adjust volume during call

I have a Sprint Touch Pro and for some reason I can't adjust the volume during a call. When I hit the volume keys on the side of the TP, the volume screen pops up and the System volume indicator increases or decreases with presses of the keys, but the call volume doesn't change at all.
I have installed the modified audiopara3.csv file to increase the phone's volume, and also have used Diamond Tweak to disable the 100db limit and set the Increase Sound option to High. Any suggestions?
Which volume screen pops up? The HTC one or the Microsoft Windows Mobile default one?
At least for me, the "fix" was to enable the Microsoft default one.
Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718080&postcount=7
Thanks! That worked.
What Exactley does the cab listed above do? When I try to change the volume during a call it just changes the ringer/system volume as it normally would. I don't want to disable the volume controls all together when I press the side buttons though.

ohh, that remover it works for Me, it removes the orig. HTC volume adjuster, and voila! I can adjust the incall volume!
Thanks
Thanks a lot for this, finally getting this verizon brick to be half decent!

How to set ringtone's volume to max all the time?

is there a way to have your hd2 ring at the highest volume possible all the time, except if its on silent or vibrate mode?
if for example i press the volume buttons on the side and set the volume to 1 bar, the ringtone's volume will be lowered as well.
In settings select Sound & DisplAy and turn off single volume. Now when you hit your volume button, there'll be two tabs - System and Ring. There you can max out your ring volume and still have your messaging/media volume at whatever level you want.
Hope this helps dude
had no idea what that option did..
thx a lot for the help
No problem mate!

[Q] Volume codes

Can someone please post the codes for changing the volume on speaker and headphones.
Just finding the volume too low (on headphones) compared to Nokia and LG. Or maybe i'm going deaf.
Was gono ask the same question as well cause I can barely hear when talking to someone, so would appreciate anyways to increase volume. Sorry to highjack your thread, but am sure we are after the same solution.
Here you go, its at the bottom of the page:

Change to any number greater than 88 (Max:100)
OK
Press back to save.
Default values:
0_lvl: 63
1_lvl: 68

Your a star.. Thanks man..
just one quick question.. Could this be used to increase overall system volume ??
can anyone confirm if this increases the volume of a call using the headset, not just the phone's internal speaker? i'd assume it controls all output sources, no?

3 SPK config <----- Speaker
4 BTH config

I don't think so .... I have tried many combinations and nothing seems to work. It all resets back to default anyway when the phone is rebooted. Previous older Symbian models saved the settings (i8910) but the Android handsets have a different subsystem.
I guess we must wait for a custom kernel and some Supercurio voodoo mods.

Anyone have any ideas? My phone is unlocked and rooted.

Even with the 'menu blocked ' continue using key input option and you should be through. Hope this helps.

[Q] Low in-call volume...

Love the phone, all and everything about it EXCEPT the in call volume. When talking on the phone i raise my volume rocker to the MAX and does not make much noticiable difference. Ive done a lot of search and researching but nothing seems to work. I've tried rasing the media volume as well as this liittle work around which does NOT seem to work witht he AT&T version of the GS2 for option #5 Audio:
•Enter this number *#*#197328640#*#*
•This will open the service mode menu.
•Select option [5] AUDIO•Select option [1] (VOICE CALL) *EDIT* -> DOES NOT WORK ON AT&T GS2?
•Select option [2] HEADSET
•Select option [1] Volume
•Select option [1] SRC Speech RX Volume
•Select option [5] 5_lvl : 87
•Press the menu button (left side)
•Choose Key Input
•Enter a value between 0 and 100, with 100 the loudest setting.
•Press ok
•Then press the menu button and select back this will save (don't use the right side back key you normally use to navigate the phone or you will quit out of the settings).
•Keep selecting the menu and back until you exit the service mode menu.
You will also note you can change volume settings for other things like Bluetooth, handsets, video call etc.
Anyone experience same/similar issue and found a work around for it? Will getting a new/replacement phone help at all?
not to throw this off topic but when I received a call last week I was listening to music from either pandora, beta music player, or just the music player and when the call came in I answered the call and the music didn't stop and kept playing as I tried to talk to the person on the other end I finally had to end the call quickly,

Try AudioBoost SGS2 from the market It will definitely makes a difference. You can control the amount boosted. Too high you will experience distortion.
Service Mode Not Working on ATT GS2
I have the same problem with my ATT GSII. Earpiece volume is not enough even on maximum volume. And the SERVICE MODE does not seem to function properly. Did you find any solution?
Try Voodoo LOUDER - works good on rooted i777. Boosts just enough to make the difference.

Thanks. Tried it on my rooted stock ROM (i777). It does change the headphone volume, but not the handset volume itself (which was actually more important for me ).
Hi,
I have the same problem but my phone doesn't recognize the code. It says invalid number or code. How can I fix

a simple Question how to make the S2 louder??

Hello i find the S2 when you listen to music not really loud not with speakers not with headphones any way to get the S2 louder on speakers and headphones?? Not with app or such things i tried all and nothing fits my needs.
not my work but it might help you
I found the incall volume to be a little low. When you max out the volume using the volume button it actually only goes to a default setting of 87 out of 100. If you would like to change the default settings here is what you need to do.
call this number *#*#197328640#*#*
This will open the service mode menu.
choose option [5] AUDIO
choose option [1] (VOICE CALL)
choose option [1] HANDSET
choose option [1] Volume
choose option [1] SRC Speech RX Volume
choose option [5] 5_lvl : 87
press the menu button (left side)
choose Key Input
enter a value between 0 and 100, I choose 100 the loudest setting.
press ok
now press the menu button and select back this should save (don't use the right side back key you normally use to navigate the phone or you will quit out of the settings) keep hitting the menu and back until you leave the service mode menu.
You will also note you can change volume settings for other things like bluetooth, head sets, video call etc.
Note: this is not permanent, if you turn off the phone it resets back to the default levels .
not only when you turn the phone off it will reset the phone settings back to the default levels, the new settings will last max 1 or 2 phone calls. Try to make new settings and make 2 calls and check the settings again. Yes the volume on SGS 2 is very very low, and Samsung does nothing about it. I only hope that reports about volume beeing louder in 2.3.5. are true.
i haven't noticed the sound being low on mine, maybe because i am into heavy metal. Could it be the type of music YOU listen to?
also bear in mind, it's a mobile phone and not a hifi system.
