Just to let you guys know im not a person that is trying to rip sprint off or anything like that.
Basically I only use 500mb to 1gb of data per month and this is really the only real reason I am using sprint instead of a prepaid service. Well now that sprint is going to change their contract and make me pay more on my family plan I figure ill just use a prepaid service now especially because I dont have 4g in my area and havent for 2 years lol.
My question is if my 2 evo 3ds will be flagged as lost/stolen when I cancel my contract or not.

They shouldn't. I think that's the purpose of the ETF.

If you cancel your contract and pay your EFT's, they are good to go to reactivate. If you cancel your contract and don't pay your EFT's, those phones will be flagged on Sprint for non-payment and cannot be activated until the bill is paid.
but if i get out of my contract because of a Material change then would they be flagged?

Also, I know that if you are flashing the 3Ds to Boost or something, it won't matter. However, if you want to sell them, they will sell for more if they are clean.

No. If Sprint lets you leave with no ETF, they won't 'flag' your phones. The only way they will be 'flagged' is if you tell Sprint they were stolen or you do not pay your bill (etf, etc.).
once you cancel your contract, you can do whatever you want with your phones. Remember, you paid for them so they are yours. The only thing is that you will want to sell them unrooted because it does sell quicker to non-dev pplz as the person a few posts back mentioned.

Figures.
Won't affect me though because I don't plan on leaving Sprint. I just wish their data speeds would get better. But the alternative to that is Verizon which is like 1/3 more in price and capped data. What good is having 4328907540913409843 mbps download speeds if you can only use 2 gigs of it per month?

Since you already have a contract the ETF will remain the same. Unless you renew your contract. But I think that you have until a certain date in September to renew or change your contract without any ETF changes after that is $350.

If that's accurate, than there is no alteration to existing contracts and you cant use it to get out. Although, who would want to leave Sprint now anyway? Especially us SERO folks.

Take heart! Sprint has a large strategy meeting October 7th that's supposed to reveal significant 4G plans.
Hopefully it's: "You know those multi-cast towers we've been developing? Yeah, every tower that you could get 3G on before now has 4G enabled.... NOW!"
Like this morning, I tested our 4G in our area and this what I got. Download 9.87 mbps and upload 3.65 mbps. That's faster than my home internet

Isn't this the PRL that causes you to use Verizon's towers, making people with high bandwidth usage get terminated from Sprint, and also helping the people who want to avoid an ETF get out of their contract without paying, hurting the rest of us?

He is part of the solution as far as I am concerned. The ETF fees are filled with greed and are only a tool to hold people hostage. If there are ways to use their contracts against them, I am all for it. What he is doing is NOT illegal. I would argue that the steady stream of contract changes that we get sucked into by default are deceptive and low on the part of sprint.
PLUS... if he gets out, that is one less customer we have to worry about on our data stream... (assuming he would have been using it if there wasn't this other out option).

Let's take this one at a time:
1) ETF's are not a way for companies to use contracts against the customer. You sign a contract because you don't want to pay $600 for a new phone. You're more than welcome to buy the phone at full price and only use month to month if you want, thereby negating the need for any contract to get involved. Don't feel like paying full price for the phone, either? Well, then you're **** out of luck.
2)No, he is not part of the solution. By him skirting his ETF, he basically paid $200 for a phone, and then is getting out of his contract ETF-free, basically making Sprint lose money on their sale of that device.
3) While it does mean one less person on the data stream, freeing up precious bandwidth for the rest of us, it is also one less customer for Sprint. One less paying customer mind you. If too many people do this, Sprint is going to have to make changes to make money, and you know what will be the next thing to go? Say goodbye to your unlimited data.
So, it's one of two ways. Either buy your phones at full price without contract, or pony up the ETF if you want to leave. Don't **** it up for the rest of us, asshole.

they won't boot you right away. It usually takes a few Billing cycles. I can see sprint eventually just charging the balls out of people you use that prl somehow.
I tried that prl a couple months ago when I needed to stream some video one evening. I must not have hit "commit changes" when changing back to 21081, and I stayed on it for over a month, using 6ish gigs of data. I have not yet heard anything from them about it luckily.

I used the 00001 prl this past week . I was in SC where apparently sprint decided "Eh we dont need any towers out here let Verizon cover it" I got tired of the phone constantly struggling for signal I just downloaded the PRL and flashed it on the phone to stabalize it some what .I mean hell the phone was going to be roaming anyways might as well give it the tower listings to get the best out of the signal I had access to . In my eyes thats Sprints issue not mine . They said they had the coverage well apparently they dont so they can chow down on the roaming charges . Maybe if they pay enough roaming charges they might get a bright idea to put a tower up in the area I was in .
Thanks for the heads up, just flashed mine and works great

I think its truely funny , I just tried the verizon prl at my home and compared it to the Sprint PRL (21081)
Verizon DL 2.01 UPL 0.75
Sprint DL 0.50 UPL 0.25
Tell me there isnt something wrong with this picture . As much as I hate to say it , all the more reason for my future transition back to Verizon . Yeah they cost alittle more but you get faster access and better coverage .
Flash 00001. Sync dropbox files back and forth from phone to DB then delete all of dropbox then do it again.. you should get your account suspended within about 5 gigs. Go sync the entire repo for ICS and then delete it and do it again. Maybe get a torrent or 9 while its going. WiFi tether everywhere for everyone. Open network with androidAP changed to maybe free internet for all. All on roaming. Sprint will drop u like a tweaker drops his rocks at the smell of bacon.

To be fair, not true. YOU can as a current Sprint customer, but if I were to have say, my wife decide to switch from Verizon to Sprint tomorrow, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY for her to join Sprint as a new customer without a 2 year contract, whether she pays $999999999999 up front for her equipment or not.

They are terminating end of contact dates if you complain about their capturing of encrypted data. Simply ask for proof for your compliance manager. They would not give me new phones, but canceled all my contracts, which was the next best thing. The downside is you will lose your phone numbers if you do it for upgrades.

Let's try this again. If you ask for proof that carrier iq is not capturing encrypted data or you want the etf removed from all phones. Sprint will remove etf so you can get a new phone on a new line.
So you can get any new phone if you want, but you are setting up a new contract with new number.
It's also your way out if you are unhappy with Sprint. You just have to be nice to the representative.

You can port your tns to google voice and then back again if you don't want to lose your telephone numbers.
Your ETF actually starts to go down after 5 months into your service. Because you have a $200 ETF, it would go down $10 each month and stops at $50.

Ah OK, my bad. With all the the complaints about Sprint...I thought this was another one. Sorry.
Will it be possible to get out of the contract without paying the ETF? I have two phones on my account, mine and my mother's. I want to keep service. However, she's moved out of state and is roaming 100% of the time since there's no Sprint service where she now lives. What should I say to Sprint to try to not pay the ETF? I think the contract is up in November. Money is tight so paying the ETF isn't an option. I guess if nothing else, I'll just continue to let her roam and they'll eventually cancel the contract for both phones. But like I said, I don't want to leave Sprint. Any insight?
Just call customer service and explain to them that you don't have service in that area where you are using the phone and probably they will give u a chance to desconect the phone I did that with ATT and I didn't pay any dollar

We used to give customers airraves, the signal box that ties into your internet to provide cell coverage.
Since you say you want to stay with sprint, know they handed over a few to customers @ no cost.
Worth a shot.
Otherwise, if you pay for insurance, I know they modified that recently which would allow to get out since they are increasing cost of monthly insurance and replacements.

An Airrave would work if she were home 24/7. But if she's out that means 1x data still. I'll check on the insurance terms for getting out of the contract since I pay insurance on both lines. Hopefully that will work. But still, moving out a service area should be in the contract to allow you to break it as long as you can prove you moved there. Like a bill or something in your name.

So... I'm looking to buy this off contract since I'm not loosing my unlimited data. Currently I only have a 3g phone and never had a 4g plan (3g unlimited is mine), would activating a phone that was purchased without a plan make me loose my unlimited, or have a limited 4g plan???
And yeah this delay is ridiculous, it's a good legitimate complaint that could get the upgrade fee waved for some.

Good question. I'm not sure, about the 3g to 4g, but my guess is you should be fine. You'll need to get a new SIM for 4g. Best bet is to contact Verizon support and ask if it affects your data plan at all. Hold on to it while you can! Rumors have it that the unlimited plan will end this spring.. You may want to do the math and see if it'd be worth it or not.
The only way to avoid the tiered data plans is by purchasing the phone outright. So as long as you're not buying the phone from Verizon at their 2-year contract/upgrade price, you're keeping you're unlimited data.

If it ends this spring I'll buy it on contract I can live (barely) with 2Gb data a month. If I remember correctly the ETF fee is waived if they change your contract terms, not sure if that's if they notify you or not, i.e. a surprise FU from big red is reason to waive the ETF.
I'll get on the phone soon, thanks.

I was bored so i called and asked your above question about coming from 3 to 4g. I spoke with the contract department so they say and they said if u pay full retail u will keep unlimited no matter what as long as its smartphone to smartphone. Going from 3g to 4g phone doesnt matter. Just make sure when u ordered or buy it u make sure u still have unlimited data. When i bought my S3 full retail they changed my unlimited data to one of their BS plans and i had go through over aweek of calling to get it fixed back. I also asked if paying retail to keep unlimited data was going to be ending by next spring and he said there is no imformation or plans to do that. Doesnt mean much since i/we usually know more than their employees do. All i can say is screw u big red for getting rid of unlimited data in the first place.

Thanks for the info If they are going to kill unlimited the phone would still be cheaper with the ETF fee paid (by ~$125 assuming they add it to the advanced devices page). If taking a subsidized phone means I have to go onto that BS share everything (get less) for the same price plan that means I'm going to pay full retail.

Don't forget VZW navigator and useless bloat ware/garbage like that...
Perhaps the delay is to sell more RAZR HD and Maxxs more than the HTC DLX?

I noticed the first feature under multi-tasking is the "multi-window" feature. Since most US carriers dont have that feature from my understanding, maybe its to allow time to include the newest possible firmware? (long shot I know, but im bored and sick of waiting just like you guys and looking for any rays of light)
I am going to complain about the release date to directly to Verizon. I really doubt that they are releasing the phone late to improve anything. It is more likely that they are holding off the release to sell another device (as mentioned above).
Verizon seems to take customer complaints serious. This whole release has been a disaster.
Let me know what you send Ill spam em too
