Quick question guys,
I just rang my local T-Mobile store to see what their pricing is going to be on the SGS2 and i was told they still have no idea... I have a contract with them that i'm using in my SGS2 i picked up from Phones 4 u last week. I wanted it sooner rather than later so i could get a good idea of the phones performance and still have the option to return within the 14 days if i wasn't happy or if T-Mobile can do me a better deal.
the guy on the phone said that he'd heard a lot of Phones 4 u's SGS2's have been returned due to issues with the device shutting down after a couple of days usage, becoming near inopperable... When i told him i'd had no such issues, he told me that it was because i'd only had mine since the 27th.... i told him that as far as i was aware it was only available from the 26th at the earliest...
Anyways, this seems like dirty tactics to me, has anyone else heard of such reports?? As far as my device is concerned its been flawless, and i'm certain that if this was happening we'd have heard of it on here, if not from bloggers and reviewers...
the phone call really p*ssed me off, almost to the point where i'm thinking of telling t-mobile to stick it and switching to the new Orange sim i have...

Sales tactics never cease to amaze me.
The majority of early adopters are on here, and there has not been a single report of malfunction
Jumping from t-mobile to orange, is like choosing between 6 and half a dozen (same company)
Move over to 3 or vodafone and enjoy high speed data (instead of the t-mobile 300 kbps limit)
No issue with mine and I got it on the 26th from p4u.
yeah i couldn't find anything of it, and as i said to him, most early adopters are going to be people like me, who actively use forums and follow pre/reviews etc...
i realise they have/are merging, but i really wanted to get a better deal upgrading, but tbh it was the guys cocky know-it-all attitude that really got me, i'm a huge believer in quality customer service, and when i originally questioned Phones 4 U as to why i should choose them over T-Mobile direct, i actually got a good 'honest' sales pitch, not a cheap-ass shot at the competition...
The T-Mobile guy even tried to tell me that the reason they aren't stocking it yet, and still not for at least a week, is due to the device having faulty software and told me to expect problems with my device over the comming few days...
Hope everyone else is loving their soon to be faulty SGS2's as much as i am!!!
Typical sales bull****. If there really is a common issue, its sure going to get noticed and logged onto forums. Unless its Apple, in which case the laws of fashion step in.
I walked into the "official" Verizon store today (not one of the authorized retailers), and I asked them if they knew when ICS would be available on the Razr. I figured they wouldn't know anything and tell me that, but the group of them told me that ICS would be available shortly and that it was already rolling out to phones at about 1000 at a time. I call BS on this whole situation but decided to post what I heard today in person.
aww would be nice, though i definitely don't believe it.. if it was already rolling out i'm sure we would have heard some news by now..

You're right, complete BS. Thanks for sharing.
I was curious how long the RMA process was taking for people in the US.
I am kind of hesitant to send it in when there may be a firmware that could fix issues and it seems some people are having very bad RMA experiences.
About 2 weeks after they received it to ship it out.
Sent mine in last month on the 8th. Still haven't gotten it back yet
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
requested mine in the first hour. haven't gotten anything yet. California
Doesn't sound so promising.....
I think I will wait for the next firmware update and see what it fixes.
Next week it'll be a month for me. They received it on the 10th of april
So the past few weeks all I've been doing is searching about official ics here in Canada. So I personally emailed a close friend of mine at Telus and this is what I got.
"We have not received an exact date of when the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will be released for your device. However, the new update is expected to be available sometime this month. Once it is available, you will receive a notification on your device that the new software can be downloaded."
Expect it sometime late June not early July. Also I hope some devs can turn this official ics into something beastly.

Oh you know the devs cant wait to get their hands on it. They will for sure make it awesome, just look at what they have done with the leaks.
How many months in a row have they said "this month!"
April, May, now June.. I'm not counting on it.
Yeah it's getting silly. I spoke with someone at Bell a week ago and they told me it would be available sometime in June. Not holding my breath...

The word expected makes everything vague. We were also told to expect it within two weeks after the Note was released and everytime the month passes a new rumor starts about the next month and we are still waiting. Nobody knows and unless it is posted on Rogers, Telus or AT&Ts websites you can take all the second hand guesses as just that, a guess. Do not believe it unless the carrier tells you a date and I don't mean a CSR cause they know nothing about updates either. Also its probably been two years since AT&T posted update dates so were just gonna have to wait. Even when AT&T used to post dates on their site when new firmware would be released it was only correct about 25% of the time and 75% of the time they would always push the dates back after the date they had posted had already past. I think it will be released soon but there is no reason to buy into these rumors. Someone also posted in our Note forums that they were told by Telus that the update was coming on May 31st and even said they called to recheck and was told the same thing twice by two different CSR and as you can see its still not out.
I'm perfectly satisfied with the current roms available

That is AWESOME news
TELUS will update their OS Upgrade Schedule this week (they update it every 2 weeks), we'll see then.
I talked to a Samsung employee that had an S3 and told me they are supposed to release it June 22nd. But we will see.
Here's me not holding my breath.

That'd be nice, but for some reason i'm not feeling too optimistic about it.
all these ICS post without any proof are starting to get annoying. There is alerady tons of threads with people making claims they talked to someone at samsung, a rep, a secretary, anyone, and they have all been false. Dont get me wront i would love ICS to finally be released, but only because the kernal will be released soon after. im happy with UCLE3 right now. Also ICS getting pushed would have more to do with AT&T then samsung.

Updates get released when they are ready. This is not the launching of a new OS or IOS when they say what date it will be available so people know. Updates are not set on till a certain date then released, they are released when they are ready and its that simple. They can give estimates on the month of release based on bug fixes and how stable the rom is based on testing but I promise NO CARRIER or SAMSUNG (HTC MOTOROLA APPLE ETC) will ever sit on a finished update PERIOD! Its bad for business to sit on an update, but I know updates are slow but these companies didn't come this far by being stupid and not giving the majority of their customers what they want. They may be slow at giving it to us but they still deliver in the end. Nobody, I repeat nobody except AT&T and the people making the software update can tell anyone when the update will be released and the way they tell you is by pushing a notification to your unrooted stock Gingerbread Galaxy Note. Like the man above said these threads about releasing the update are getting outta control especially when they keep getting posted by people that obviously have no clue how the update process goes, when they know, we know, and that's exactly how it works. Do people really think these multi BILLION $$$$ companies carry on like teenagers and keep secrets and gossip about something as meaningless as an ICS update? The 22nd isn't even a Sunday LOL (people in the know, know what this means). OH I forgot, how does having an S3 make this Samsung employee qualified to know when updates will be released? Was he working at the AT&T booth in the mall or the local AT&T store? Most of these guys/girls cannot even handle a problem without calling the real AT&T for help so trust me the guy you talked to knows nothing.

Santa lies...he probably owns an iPhone. But the Easter Bunny said the official ICS is gonna hatch by end of June.

I'll believe the release date rumors, the day it is actually released. Been hearing new dates every week.
TELUS: JULY 13
TELUS is very consistant at communicating the “expected in market date” of when various devices will receive an OS update. Right on track is a refresh of their “Device OS Upgrade schedule” and those with the Samsung Galaxy Note, BlackBerry Bold 9790, Nokia Lumia 800, and LG Optimus 7 can be excited as your devices will be graced with a new OS soon:
Android:
HTC Desire HD OS 4.0 “Expected in market date” is July 25th
LG Optimus LTE OS 4.0 “Expected in market date” is Mid July
Samsung Galaxy Note OS 4.0 “Expected in market date” is July 13th
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 OS 4.0 “Expected in market date” is Late July
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 OS 4.0 “Expected in market date” is August (was previously Late July)

ok ill explain myself. haha
so i work for att and last week they had Samsung come in and show us some features of the note and how to sell them better. The rep from samsung had a galaxy note with the official ATT ICS update on it already. He told me it was coming around the time the s3 is going to be relased. But who knows its seems ligit because he does work for samsung.
I talked to the CEO just now and he said it is already late tonight. He will do it tomorrow morning
I just called the president, he's sending me the official download link now.

I hate to pull a 'well actually', but Im going to do so.
Carriers are well known for sitting on updates even tho they are ready. There are a number of reasons for doing so, marketing being a big reason. By controlling WHEN a release is pushed, they can market other phone models or actually advertise big OS updates, often times making the carrier sound like THEY actually did all the hard work and their customers should appreciate the OS update as a good deed by the carrier.
Anyone remember the Samsung Captivate? Gingerbread? How long did it take to come to the Captivate 'officially'? The rumour, although no one for sure can say, is that AT&T sat on this update and decided never to release it. Samsung then decided to take it upon themselves and provide the update via Kies Mini (PC software with the SOLE purpose of updating firmware via your PC rather than the carrier delivering said update). It was shortly after this that AT&T began making the update available over the air, after Samsung forced their hand. Likely, all of this was to push Captivate users to buy a newer model phone with LTE (which means higher priced data plans).
AT&T typically pushes firmware updates and new phone releases, both on Sundays. Dont ask me why, I just know that is what they 'usually' do. However, to give the benefit of the doubt, maybe they are planning something different.
Anyone remember the Lumia 900 (flagship Windows Phone 7 made by Nokia)? This was announced as officially coming out on Easter Sunday (Easter in the states) but since AT&T wasnt actually open, they had to sell it on Monday. Someone at AT&T forgot to look at a calendar.
The S3 is supposed to be available at AT&T June 18th according to this article (end of the second to last paragraph in the first section). This article was written today.
The Galaxy S3 was intended to be released at the end of June along with its competitors AT&T, which will get the new phone on June 18, and Sprint, which has a release date of June 21.

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/352985/20120616/samsung-galaxy-s3-release-date-verizon-canada.htm
Read the entire paragraph, for the context of the use of the word 'intended'.
Now, the 18th falls on a Monday which has me scratching my head because everything being reported is simply not the way AT&T usually does things. Even more funny is, no one seems to actually KNOW when the S3 will be available and if the ICS update is supposed to coincide with the release of the S3 (again, quite frankly, I dont know why AT&T would care, they are both not really related to each other), and no one knows when the S3 will be available for AT&T customers, how can anyone determine the release of this firmware?
So, my opinion? We are looking at either June 17th (tomorrow) or June 24th if Samsung and AT&T keep their promise of Q2. BUT, I have heard that ICS was delayed for all carriers because Samsung is fixing a kernel bug, code that exists in ALL variants of the Note that caused hard bricks when flashing roms on variants containing the quadcore processors found in the international Note. I know the way I said that was likely confusing so let me clarify. The kernel code exists in all variants of the Note. However, the code does NOT affect the dual core processor variants of the Note. But Samsung is fixing said code in all variants of the Note, their are a number of potential reasons why that I wont go into here. This bug was fixed back at the end of May but this ate into the carrier testing period so it was delayed. I could totally be wrong here but Im guessing July 1rst, which would be close enough to Q2 that I doubt anyone could really ***** about it not being in Q2.
One other comment...
An official ICS update means source code!. Many of us are waiting for an official update not specifically so we can flash it but so that we can begin to see some real rom development start happening beyond themes and generic tweaks. Not that I dont appreciate the work that has already been done but I am really curious as to what the Note is 'really' capable of.
My rep told me the 20th.
My rep knows more then your rep.
