Absolute Best ROM For Battery Saving? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I've been trying out a lot of different ROMs on my SGH-I777 and I can't quite seem to find one that has a really decent battery life.. I'm wondering what your guy's best combos are?

Personally I love UnNamed+Entropy, never had any battery problems at all.
I get with heavy usage 15 hours which is more than enough since its charging the other hours of the day.

I believe he's referring to the fact that you're using the GT-I9100, not the i777.

Maybe it's the GT-I9100 instead of this Forum's SGH-I777 base, but just guessing.
I too, have been having good results with UnNamed v2.2.1.
I think I may revert back to an earlier version though, pre-OTA 2.3.6.
I have to have a functional BlueTooth keyboard.

On unnamed + entropy DD I'd get about 4-4.5 hours of screen on time. I'm on miui now but don't know how much my screen on time is =-O . Seems decent tho.

Manually debloated VillainROM 3.0 (Hellraised, of course) works great for me. Unnamed has a good list of what to nuke for battery - SNS and the various hubs are the most important.
I9100 XXKI3 base seems to be better for battery, especially in weak signal situations, than UCKH7, and doesn't have the issues that seem to have shown up in later bases like XWKK5 or UCKK6.

+1 VillainROM 3.0 has been fantastic with regard to battery life(bloat removed) easily 4-4.5hrs screen time.
Most users have the "newer is better" attitude but with all the issues with KK5/6, it just isn't the case here

Any ROM with UCKK6 has an issue with wifi battery drain (check on the battery drain thread) in idle. I have been to MIUI->UnNamed->MIUI and it seems MIUI has better idle drain than UnNamed because of that (10% drain with 6 email accounts syncing for 6 hours with MIUI and I believe I had 20% drain with 3 emails accounts syncing with UnNamed, both with the same kernel). I tried both DD and Siyah kernel and I personally feel Siyah is better at battery, but marginally.

Check my config in my signature. pretty decent life. about 14-16hrs.

Ive been satisfied with unnamedROM + Siyah Kernel and lulzactive governor(default on unnamed)

Ive been on unnamed. New to android so this is the only ROM i have tried. Wanted to try it with the Siyah kernel but a little scared. It seems like it has so many tweaks and governers and stuff. I think im too new to mess with all those settings lol
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk

It all depends on how we use it. My best stats were on serendipity rom with DD. I never tried it with siyah. I'm running miui now. I had 40 hours of battery life. (34 hours realty since 6 of the hours were inactive) I turned off data when I was not using it. I had 3.5 hours of screen on time. I texted about 300-500 text a day.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium

I doubt there's a HUGE difference between any of them. Typically what ends up killing peoples battery time is added apps that stay open or keep wakelocks active. In those situations, NONE of the ROMS will be good.

I have never seen such battery life. What I find weird though is blue tooth was on there previously, and it disappeared. Maybe because the percentage is less than 1%

X2... Is this on an ICS ROM? My computer has Linux kernel 3.2, but GB on our phones is still 2.6..... I ran a couple of those ICS leaks, but never checked kernel version. None of them are stable enough for me, though.
Everything works in CleanRom. I had flashed chad's ICS leak kernel so that I could use no-frills cpu control, but some things got borked. No now I'm back on the one below, which does not support setcpu. Battery life is amazing though. I am going to try and use up my battery today, since I could only get it down to 40% yesterday.

Make sure you show your screen on time next time you post. Your first post did show some good battery life, but I can get the same screenshot with using my stock if I do not use my phone barely at all. These screen shots don't show much. The most important one to show is screen on time.

We have a firmware update from Virgin Mobile. Many users have experienced issues with this, I would recommend not updating. The ADSP.img is what is important for booting the Linux 3 Kernel including with these ROMs, this should be generic between Virgin Mobile and Sprint but DO NOT take my word for it. Chad has a test kernel for those without the new firmware which only breaks 3D and USB Mount/ADB if you want to try it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639471

What is your battery consumption?

Hi,
I've installed the Infinity Revolution ROM based on CM10. I'm pretty happy with it but I think that the battery consumption could be better.
So, I'd like to have your feedback with your device (even if the ROM is different) and to know what is your battery consumption at night (when it is not used).
For me, my consumption is -12mA at night (I disabled Google Now that seems to wake up my device)
Thanks!

Post your battery usage and consumption (how you use your phone) details then maybe it will be much easier to help

I have no real problems with the battery but when I read forums on dev ROMS, I usually see that kind of sentence "Good battery drain, battery feels better, etc.". So, what is a good battery drain with a SGII using a customized ROM? Is "-12 mA" a good consumption when the device is not used?
I need comparisons.
PS: sometimes I have -60mA without doing anything

When you enabled the BLN and someone texted you or some notifications appeared, it will prevent your phone to deepsleep.
That might be the reason why you have a huge 10% drain

Nope.
If your Wi-Fi stays connected overnight, then your phone will stay awake. Disable the Wi-Fi when sleeping and your battery consumption will reduce magically.

I don't think you need to change your ROM.
The issue is with BLN enabled, which will prevent your phone from going back to deep sleep once you have a notification and Wi-Fi which might cause many wakelocks if it stays connected overnight.

[FIX][ICS]Bluesleep Fix for all ICS Roms (Enable Deep Sleep!!)

Hello all!!! This is a Mod that will fix the Bluesleep issue seen on our current Cyanogen Mod 9 build and all ICS Based Roms.
What is Bluesleep you ask?
Bluesleep is a wakelock that is an error on part of the Bluetooth System missing a few binaries. Even if you have bluetooth disabled, you will be affected by this bug!!!
Ok, so how does Bluesleep affect us?
Bluesleep is a wakelock. Wakelocks prevent your system from going into Deep Sleep. From my testing, this is the ONLY wakelock that is still prevalent on our system.
Why did this bug occur?
Normally, an ICS kernel would take care of all of this. But due to us still having a Gingerbread kernel, we still need these binaries.
What are the benefits from flashing this?
Oh, only BETTER BATTERY LIFE! As of now, our phone sits at an idle state of 216Mhz. By flashing this, it enables Deep Sleep, which saves a substantial amount of Battery Life when your phone isn't in use.
Sounds great, but there's got to be a catch.
From my testing, there are no bugs introduced from this fix.
Wait, how thoroughly was this tested??
It was tested for a solid day of good use on MIUI.
It was (sadly) only tested for a few hours on CM9, however my phone did reach Deep Sleep.
SIGN ME UP!!
Download Link
Instructions:
YOU MUST BE ON AN ICS ROM! (CM9, AOKP, Paranoid Android or MIUI)
Boot into BSR
Flash the bluesleep.zip
No need to wipe Data or Cache
ENJOY BETTER BATTERY LIFE!!!
Credit goes to olegfusion and Th3Bill for their findings!! All I did was package it and make the flashable script.

I installed BetterBatteryStats last night so I'll chime in tonight. As mentioned before, screen on time isn't accessible on Sense's settings.

What's everyone running?

Hey all i777 users!
Just wondering what ROMS/Kernels are everyone running and what has been your experience with them.
I have a couple of NANDroid backups with different ROMS that run smooth and stable on my S2, and backups of data so I just switch them after some days. But as daily drivers I've settle down with:
SuperNexus 3 (smooth & fast, stable and very battery friendly and less buggy compared to other 4.3 based ROMS)
Ilussion ROM (smooth, nexus-based, beautiful, battery friendly)
MIUI V5 (best battery life so far, smooth, it's MIUI so the UI it's unique to it)
All these with AJK 4-4.5 kernel and tweaking for improved battery.
Now I'm about to flash Hellybean and give it a shot. Maybe will try SHOstock later this week.
Of the 4.3 ROMs I flashed Supernexus, CM, and Helly. They all just seem to striped down for my taste. I will wait for the Pac, Carbon, or Task to implement the 4.3 changes in their roms.
I run the 7/27 nigntly of Carbon as my daily. I flashed AJ's Boss kernel, but had problems with it so I have been running the latest STi kernel. I find the stock kernel on the Carbon roms work just fine, but I wanted to mess with dual booting a little bit.

Haven't tried Carbon, will try soon. What problems you had with AJ's kernel?
Just had some random reboots. Nothing major.

UCMD8 v1.8 Cooked with AJK v4.5. Excellent battery life. About 1% per 10 minutes while browsing.
Super Nexus 2 milestone and latest AJK. Very nice!!!!
Also tried running cooked 1.8 with AJK which was great (just prefer look of SN)
I had issues with Super Nexus 3 (I already forget what they were) but may give it another go soon. Especially if Faryaab puts up another release.

Haven't tried Super Nexus 2, I had the gallery bug with the 3, pics would appear as "unsupported-videos" in the Gallery. I was thinking on going back and trying to install Quikpic or a different gallery app to see if it fixes it. I'm the same as you! I prefer the pure android look of SN

Had it running until yesterday to try SHOstock. What kernel are you using?

Sounds really good, I might try it and leave it for those long days that I'm away from a charger (like yesterday).

I tried a couple of gallery apps with no luck. It did appear to be fixed when I installed a photo editing/gallery type app but I paid for it and did not like it so not going to mention. Let me know about quikpic since I don't think that was one I tried.

Hasn't Siyah evolved into AJK? I'm using SN 2 with AJK and it's pretty awesome!

Nice! I was thinking on trying that combo soon.
I'm running IllusionRom 2.5 with latest AJK and it's a beast! It looks really really cool and with some tweaks and UV, battery life can last up to 8-10 hours!

I think he means 8-10 hrs of heavy use. Otherwise, that wouldn't be good battery life. :B
