I was PMed too and sent a log tool and have been sending logs to someone from their dev team in Taiwan just got a update from him that they will be contacting me because I have a "special" Prime hopefully its special enough that they swap it out for a new one for me
I wonder if this isn't the first step towards reaching some kind of resolution to this whole mess. ASUS does need to know exactly what's going on before they take any actions at fixing anything.

IMO this is a huge step for an electronics manufacturer. lets not make huge fanfare out of it with stupid requests or they'll be reluctant to continue.

keep us posted. Especially on wifi, BT, and GPS. or if they modified the back in anyway for you.
Willing to bet they had a bad batch out of manufacturing or something. This happens sometime.
Honestly, I have been using Asus products for a long time and have always been happy with them. They have not been in the business of making consumer products for that long. I think they really want this to be a great product and have everyone happy.
This is why the encrypted, locked bootloader was such a surprise and disappointment considering they started as a brand known only to system builders.
Well, Asus must not be reading anything I am writing, including the ticket on their website I sent 2 days ago.
I have "Serial Number Unknown" and cannot update my prime. I filled out a Tech Ticket on asus.com, registered it, did all of that.
Anyways, Asus is running out of time, if they are not going to respond to my tech ticket by the end of the day, I am returning it after work.
I have been extremely unhappy with Asus. Their misinformation everytime someone calls them. The fact they keep denying that ICS 4.0 was released and we are already getting 4.03, the fact that mine has "Serial Number Unknown" and Asus will not respond to me.
Why should I give them $500 if they dont appreciate me enough to try to help me? They wont respond to my ticket? This is ridiculous and I am basically laughing at all of you calling Asus a great company.
HAVE YOU EVEN BEEN READING WHAT IS GOING ON ? Asus has handled all of these issues as poorly has possible. They are denying 4.0 was released and telling us "Serial Number Unknown" users to just wait, there is no updated firmware. Yeah, wait until we cannot return it?
What about the way the GPS issue was dealt with? Dont get me started on how long people have waited for their tablet to be serviced.
I can understand if you like Asus, but to say they are a great company may have been true before the Asus Prime release, but since then they have got to be have the worst Customer Service I have ever seen.
Well, using that email:
[email protected]
I sent them this:
Hello,
I'm looking for support for with my Transformer Prime. The errors I have experienced are as follows:
It has an unknown serial number preventing me from receiving any OTA updates.
It has rebooted randomly 3 times.
The screen has scrambled leaving horizontal lines with unreadable text while browsing until the tablet screen was turned off and turned back on.
Wifi turns off commonly while the tablet is idle.
Wifi plus bluetooth connected at the same time slows down the tablet to 300 kbps (kilobits) download connection speed.
Problems with certain apps which force close (that other people do not have problems with).
I do not want to return this tablet to Best Buy, but if there is no fix for it within the next 8 days (amount of time I have to return it) I will be forced to do so as this is not what I paid for.
Thank you. Awaiting your response,

I got the pm as well requesting some info about my issues and my tablet S/N. I replied back to it but have not heard back since then. For me time is very important if I don't hear something today, I will be returning my TP because right now it is just an expensive paper weight.

I registered my device, then used their Tech Ticket or whatever option to let them know my problems. It uses my Serial Number, Build Number, etc in the email. So they know everything about my Prime.
They have not responded, and I dont expect them to meet their 48 hour response window at all, as others are having the same problems.
I am returning, and probably buying something later from a different company. I know everyone here loves Asus, and many think they are a "great" company. But my experiences so far, personally, plus everyones I am reading and hearing on forums like these, have been so disappointing.
I am a 6th Grade School Teacher and nobody understands patience any more than me. Asus is really trying my patience with them, thus, I am not comfortable giving them my money. If they are not going to help me with a simple software problem, "Serial Number Unknown, which has been an issue for people since the middle of December, then what are they going to do when I have a hardware issue and have to send it in?
I gave Asus a chance. I wanted to buy a Prime, I want to keep my Prime, I actually really like it, but my problems are ignored, and I am going to ignore Asus with my money. Sorry!
This has been good for me and my students because I have been very open about these issues with them. I was so excited to get the tablet, I showed it to them. I brought it to school, let them play with it, they thought it was "awesome." Now I have been explaining the aftermath, cannot update, all the issues others are having. I am trying to teach them to stand up and not simply "accept mediocrity."
We also have only spent a few minutes at the end of the day on this, but I was going to use the tablet with them in class since HDMI out could go straight into my LCD Projector. I had to explain why they wouldn't see the tablet anymore.
If you have a problem with your TP, SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE! Thanks

On November 22, 2012, I placed a pre-order for the ASUS Transformer Prime 64G (Grey) through Amazon.com. This would be a gift to myself for Christmas.
It's unfortunate that many like me are having a very bad experience with their tablets while others are enjoying their tablets with no issues at all. (The constant rebooting and freezing is not called for.) After several attempts to get my tablet working through customer support (Re-installing, disabling, clearing catch, etc.) I was given an RMA number and told that the best thing they can do is have me send it in for repair and that it will be fixed definitely. For me though... it was frustrating that I had to pay the shipping cost to get it repaired when ASUS knew it was a known issue with the Prime??
Yesterday, I received my tablet from the ASUS Repair Service Center in Texas. After I had patiently waited all this time to have a working tablet, its still doing the same exact thing! Could you imagine the frustration? I ended up calling ASUS today and explained to them that I had sent in the Tablet for repair and I'm still experiencing the same exact thing as I did before I sent it out to them for repair. I've been very patient but now I'm pissed... Let's remember that the Prime had several batches with known issues before it even came out.
While I was talking to the ASUS Customer Representative, he told me that I would have to send it in and have it fixed. I told him, "The Tablet should have been fixed correctly or replaced when I sent it in the last time/ can I speak to your manager please?" After much hesitation to get me a manager he replied, "Sir I will get you a new RMA number then I will get you the manager.
As soon as he transferred my call over, I could not believe that it was the same Representative that I had asked for the manager! He was trying to use a different voice! I was so shocked! I told him “Sir, do you think I’m stupid or something?? I know you are the same exact person I was just talking to. (His answer with nervousness) “Sir… Sir… like I said before, Um… (He then corrected) “Like my Representative said before, we can give you a new RMA number and send you a prepaid shipping label”. “I can assure you I’m not the same person you talked to before”. I told him I was going to contact the BBB and that this was not professional at all.
I would like to say that this has been a very bad experience for me folks. I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble to write this letter if it were not true what I'm saying on this Forum.

And we can do what about it? While I sympathize with the issues you have ran into, there is not much us users can do for you. I would say call them back and get someone else to help you. Write them a letter of complaint. Follow up on your threat and contact the BBB. Posting yet another "I have been miss-treated" thread isn't going to help your cause. I mean I have been through 4 primes.....2 that have been perfect and 2 that I had to exchange. I didn't come on here an complain....I just did what I felt I needed to get ones that worked. Its this way for anything you buy. If it's not right ...keep going to the company that can fix the issue....I am sure if you keep trying you will find someone that will help you.
Just my 2 cents......
I think spending your hard earned money for them to get it wrong twice really blows. You would think the first RMA, whatever they decided to to do they would run the Prime through its paces before sending it out again. That's just foolish. I think the post is fine so people know what's going on with fellow users / customers. Good or bad.
Unbeknownst to most upset callers, when asking for a manager at MOST call centers, you don't actually get a manager. At most, you'll get someone that might be a little more knowledgeable.
In my experience in dealing with and working in call centers, this is common practice. Is it right? heck no. Is Asus support the only company doing this? heck no, lol. Just last week I had Time Warner Cable pull the same thing on me. I would guess the manager was in a meeting or just not available.
They've messed up and admitted it. They've offered paying for your shipment (which they should). Beyond going back in time, is there anything else they can do?
Also, I'm not trying to say you shouldn't be frustrated... you should. You just have to realize that some things are out of your (our) control. Accept that they want to make it right and move along.
How long did they have it before they sent it back to you? Was there any kind of repair log or anything showing what they "supposedly" fixed? But yeah, their customer service seems to blow. I'd say call back as chances are you'll get a new person. I'm site there has to be at least 1 decent person there. Blast their Facebook page with the issue. I'm sure you'll get their attention then and more than likely a new tablet. You could also pm Gary n write him what you wrote here in this thread. Good luck!
P.s. what was wrong with the tablet originally that you had to send it in?
I'm glad you told your story here. That's the only way the rest of us know. I was going to pick up my TP today, ordered it from Best Buy in Canada to be shipped to a nearby store. I got an email yesterday that it was ready for pickup. Got so excited. Then started to read these threads. I've lost confidence in Asus to resolve this issue. Too many serious problems in this new product, and if it's a hardware issue, they will just wash their hands of it.
So I've decided not to buy it, and have cancelled the order. Thanks for your story. You saved me some grief.
Call before 7pm est you usually get someone who speaks better English then...

Attorney General
In addition to contacting the BBB in your local area, you should also contact the Attorney General for your state. The Attorney General has more power than the BBB. All the BBB will do is write letters to Asus and lower their rating. The attorney general has some real power.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's stories like yours that makes me feel lucky I returned mine to Amazon within the return window. I never received a response from Asus support to facilitate an RMA for my defective unit, the reason I returned mine.
Kinda funny, I always thought Asus were great until recently. In addition to the bad experience with the TF201, I also had a system failure with my netbook and the recovery partition failed. I requested a replacement DVD from Asus. They wanted $50 to mail a replacement DVD. I wasn't asking for a new license, I was asking for a replacement DVD. In the end, I ended up downloading Windows 7 ISO's from Dell and using them to reinstall Windows.
Best of luck to you and please keep us posted as this progresses. You may also want to contact Gary Key (Asus Technical Marketing Manager) as others seem to have received better support after contacting him.
This is exactly why everyone should be returning theirs to the store they bought it from for a refund or exchange...... period, end of story, bottom line , and point blank this is Asus problem not ours DO NOT take no for an answer if the store gives you a hard time and if you have to get transferred up the ladder of supervisors and go to corporate if need be.
I would trust a pack of gorillas more then I would trust Asus at this point I have heard nothing but horror stories with them and the tablet it's like they threw together a make shift department for the tablets and NONE of them are on the same page.
any update?
I think Asus should man up and admit there are serious design flaws, not just a few tabs here and there. Then they should offer a recall and free fixes for it. (The right thing to do) Gary basically admits it with this message on his profile.
I am traveling to Taiwan from January 27th through February 4th to work on Transformer Prime problems with our engineering group. I will read messages and forward information to R&D but expect direct replies to be very delayed or answered by Customer Care.
No company would fly a manager to Taiwan unless there were some serious issues that need to be fixed. Just my 2 c

It's very unfortunate that ASUS is taking way too long to admit the seriousness of the problems or issues with the PRIME. I just don't understand why some users have working tablets while there are others who have almost unusable tablets? This raises the suspicion that ASUS knew something was wrong with the PRIME and they corrected it all while still sending out the defected ones to us.
I hope they come up with a real solution soon because the longer they continue to have us wait, the more damaging to their reputation. Somehow, I hope ASUS can redeem themselves and make us happy after all we been through.

They released this tablet knowing it had issues, they rushed this tablet to the market and most of us feel cheated! Where is the "Persistent Perfection"? It is their company motto! We need to do this to get them to realize their mistakes!
We can all agree that this tablet is plagued with issues, Big or Small; Noticeable or Not; Software or Hardware; Customer Support or Communication.
Known issues we need to stand up for! Whether you experience them or not!:
BLUETOOTH INCOMPATIBLE WITH WIFI!
WEAK/SLOW WIFI!
GPS NON FUNCTIONING!
SCREEN BLEED!
MELTING/OVERHEATING CHARGERS
UNKNOWN SERIAL #'s!
RANDOM LOCKUPS/REBOOTS!
LESS THAN ACCEPTABLE SUPPORT!
HORRIBLE QUALITY CONTROL!
TERRIBLE RMA EXPERIENCES!
DEAD PIXELS!
DUST UNDER YOUR SCREEN!
ETC!
Then to top it all off they are now dedicating all their resources to multiple new tablets (7000t 3000t, 3g prime, Memo, and the Padphone), instead of doing what is right and fixing the first one!
THE GOAL IS TO ATTACK UNTIL THEY RELEASE SOME SORT OF REPLACEMENT/REFUND/EXCHANGE PROGRAM!

You guys obviously where not here for that! got a response from asus within 48 hours
In some way I don't think it was mostly their falt but ours since we were already rushing them. They did delay the sales because of the quality but demand was to big on our side. People wanted the device knowing it had problems and now most of them are fighting that they didn't pay much attention to the tablet. Even though we wanted it the way it was....... Shut up some of us are out of our return window! and are you not unhappy that they will be releasing versions with fixed GPS and other stuff!
The bootloader thing was completely different, this is way too far, and its worded like a spoiled teenage rant.
What really annoys me is that I see you "OP" genuinely trying to help bring these problems to light and get Asus to do the right thing and fix this debacle of a product. But instead I see trolls trollin your thread. Lame.
I applaud you for your outcry. This really needs Asus's FULL attention. Not just Gary and a few other employees. I have a feeling Asus is going to proceed with the release of the TF700t and leave the TF201 in the dust. If I was Asus I would carefully take a look at what went wrong with the TF201 and figure out how to fix it. Instead of releasing a new product. If these problems aren't fixed by Tuesday I am returning my Prime and dock and going with an iPad 3 or maybe a TF700t. Most likely an iPad 3. I really hope Asus comes through in the next 72 hours.
Try not to get upset with fellow TF201 owners. I guarantee their tone will change once the TF700t arrives with no problems. We are all on the same team.

No problem. I am here to help.
I know that I have only been a member of this thread for a short while. But I have enjoyed/found most people here to be informitive and entertaining.
Not only is Asus causing me to second guess my 5th TF201 & dock purchase by way of a full refund return, they are alienating me from participating in this wonderful forum full of members with similar interests. After my 5th Prime I'm gone from XDA/Asus.
I really hope it doesn't come down to this.
Ok guys, i feel ya. It sucks getting a faulty product especially over and over. No argument there.
But these issues are only present in a small percentage of Primes. And most of them only apply to artificial situations. For instance wifi: I have a a ~16 Mbps connection. What if my wifi drops to 8 Mbps for some seconds while watching youtube? I wont even notice. So for 95% of Prime users those wifi "issues" dont exist. Me included even though i get pretty steady results.
Minor screen bleed is present on almost all IPS panels even your precious ipads (you should get one, they are perfect devices, will never have problems and last 100 years - sry irony took over ). And again, the only place you notice screen bleed is on startup screen or if your in complete darkness looking at a black page and turning IPS+ on.
So the amount of people that have gone through several primes is very very small. Even here on XDA most people dont experience these issues in a way that the device becomes less fun or even unusable.
By logic the amount of people that will sign this petition and send some spam mail will never be enough to actually achieve something. Sorry man
The bootloader thing was something completely different. Companies locking up bootloaders is something that affects every freakin Android user. So i'm pretty sure there were many people that didnt even plan on buying a prime signing that petition. The same way i have signed the HTC petition and will sign every single one about locking bootloaders of Android devices. Plus, i'm almost certain ASUS already planned it when the petition started.
Again it sucks buying and waiting for such a product and then having a faulty device. Happened to everyone once... But all you can do is, return it and hope for getting a working replacement. Buying another product, or waiting for the next Transformer model from ASUS.
And btw when i read TF700T will have no issues, all i can say is lol. Its like saying the world will end in 2012. Wait... Maybe the two things are linked in some higher plan we dont understand yet!!!??? I think i'm on to something here...

I agree. Most of the TF201 returns I heard about from customer service at my local Bestbuy were transactions that resulted in a full refund not exchange. Most people would return and move on to iPad 3, TF700t etc......
Do you really believe that after this mess of a release Asus is gonna release another defective product? I don't think so. I'm sure Asus's legal department/engineering is working together to provide a "Asus Inspiring Innovation Persistent Perfection" product with the release of the TF700t.
While I'm not quite as zealous as the OP, I do feel that ASUS needs to address the issues listed above. They undoubtedly knew there were pretty severe engineering issues with the prime before release if not, then quite soon thereafter. The weak wifi and nonexistent GPS are unquestionable. The other QA problems are more or less expected
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
So I sent in my Prime in on January 25th, mainly for non-existent WIFI, GPS, and light bleed. I was assured it would take no longer than 10 business days for repair. Well, obviously 10 days came and went and my Prime's RMA status was still "waiting".
So after 2.5 weeks I emailed Gary to help me push it through RMA and he forwarded it to Hai Tran. They are both really a big help. Hai has continued to help me get my prime replaced ASAP. I finally received my replacement today and when I opened it I find a TF101, WTF!!!!! So I called customer service to get it resolved and was told that my serial number is a TF101 number, so there is nothing that he could do. I then asked to speak with a supervisor, and asked why didn't they look into the serial number being a TF101, when they are working a TF201. I told her unless they robots working in there they should have seen it was a TF201. Her reply to me is that the repair center can't tell them apart because they both look identical and can only go by serial number. I told her that's like me drawing 2 zeros on all my dollar bills and spending it like it's $100, stupid.
But, OMG.....REALLY, the TF201 and TF101 look identical. Give me a break, even my 5 yr old son asked me why I received a different tablet in the mail today. I spent 5 mins arguing with her about the two being very different, and she still insist on the 2 being identical.
So now I am stuck with a TF101 and hopefully Hai or Gary can help sort this out for me. I for sure will not waste another second of my life on the phone with the service center, as they completely oblivious as to what products they are providing support for.
Sorry for my rant, just needed to vent my fustration.
where did you buy it from, proof of purchase?
thats crazy if they left you hanging on that.
Uber fail. Sorry for your bad luck my friend.

That... is actually pretty ridiculous, I'm sorry man. I thought it was bad enough when Sammy's lawyers couldn't tell the difference between an iPad and a GTab from 10 feet away; but a service center not being able to differentiate between two very different products, both of which they supposedly service? That's pretty shocking.
Edit: This may explain why so many people have ineffectual RMA service... fixes probably won't work if you think they're for a different device =P
Lol I had a good laugh. That's so terrible it sounds unbelievable.
Damn Asus, I didn't realized you were that much of a ****up.
Wow.
Somebody's family member at that service center has a Prime recently fixed of its light-bleed and connectivity issues
That's awful. It's things like this that make me 100% certain that if I had to send my Prime in I would photo and video record the process. I guess at this juncture you even need to take photos of your serial on your box, tablet, and in your settings screen
lol! I just sent my tf101 in for repairs yesterday, crossing my fingers that I get a TF201 back in the mail.
Expect them to ask for proof of purchase. Receipt, box, serial number, and other proof. Only fair as anybody could make a claim like that to try to get a new device. Good luck getting it all sorted out.

I will update when I get a response from them.

Jesus. I'm documenting the CRAP out of my prime as soon as I get home.
Well they did fix your wifi, gps albeit a totally different device so give them some credit lol. Man that sucks. Hopefully they wont deny their mistake and say you're lying.
Unbelievable, even if its a 1 off mistake which i doubt with all the horror stories how can a company not see a difference. This gives me no hope in humanity.
Change of topic. Original topic was a "Can you return the prime in Canada" thread. Since i personally have succeeded, i am now sharing how i did it so you can do it too!
First: Make sure you have all accessories: Charger, cleaning cloth, usb cable, manuals, etc.
Tablet has to be scratch free and in very good condition. Try to clean all the fingerprints as best you can.
If you have the plastic wrapper that goes around it, bonus!
Put tablet in box as if it were brand new. Neatly wrap the cord, make it all look pretty.
Make sure the tablet is charged and reset it so when you turn it on it goes to the default setup thing.
Dont forget to remove your microSD card!
Go to your local bestbuy.
Tell them you got it as a gift
You opened it up and played with it for a few days and decided its not for you
you would like a return please. (Be kind, they are people too!)
Another option is to say "they got the wrong one" when you ask for the refund. If they ask if you want to find the right one say you dont really have time right now, you'd rather the refund and you can come back another time to get the tablet thats right for you.
They will want to inspect it. If you have obvious physical damage, forget it. If you dont have the packaging, forget it. If you give them ANY reason to reject it, forget it. Dont lie but you dont have to give them obvious reasons. "I just dont want it" is true. "I want to return it because the new version came out" Also true but a bad idea.
They will likely ask if you have the recipt. Tell them you dont have a recipt, it was a gift, the person who gave it to you didnt think to keep it. (I said it was from my grandmother who lives in another city, whatever seems plausable)
They will tell you they cant return it for cash but can do store credit. You say thats acceptable and try not to smile too big. (Also helps not to agree too fast). I made some comment "thats fine, i can buy something that better suits what i need when i get paid". If they offer to help you find something to buy with the card right away just say you really dont have too long to spend on this, you can come back another day to spend the money.
Edit:
Dont forget! when you go to buy the infinity bring a printout of these two pages and get the infinity for $350 instead of $500! It helps to email yourself the links so you can bring them up on your phone too. Bestbuy matches online prices now! (woot!)

I've had success in getting a refund from them ( still awaiting the cheque however).
Feel free to PM me any questions.

'Them' being Best Buy?
No, ASUS directly.
I don't think anyone is going to have luck until the actual release date (August 17th). Before then there is really no point to try an exchange.

How the heck did you manage that? Who do i contact!
I live in Alberta and I have tried numerous time to return my prime for an infinity at different location. All locations were ready to send it to Asus for repair and they don't really care about the manufacturers warranty, they just want to send it to Asus to take care of it.

I know its sort of beside the point but what issue did you have to RMA it in for? how did they determine it was better to give you money than try to fix it?

I'd definitely like to know this too!! I've had mine since January- bought it from Staples. I had problems within the first month, but they just told me I had to go through Asus (even though they told me I had 30 days to return when I purchased it!!). I haven't RMA'd after reading all the horror stories on the forums, and I keep hoping an impending update will fix things (silly I know...). I'm so frustrated with the whole experience, and reading about what is going on now in the US for BB customers is just making it worse! I'd love to hear if there is anything we can do up in Canada...
I RMA'd mine. I'm waiting for the information package and how to send it. It was fine at the beginning but after a few months I started to have screen glitches, flickers. My Wifi is some what weak to none existant where my wife's Ipad does not have a problem. The number of freezes it can have is unbearable.

So how did it take in total since you initiated the process? I think I may be fed up enough to do it- I was willing to wait and see what good firmware updates did, but it's been 6 months... I'm moving soon though, so I might have to wait until the fall if the process is too long. The last thing I need right now is for it to get lost in the mail!!

Please post when you get the info-- I'm nervous about RMAs, and I'd really like more info on how Asus is handling them up here...
Has anyone heard of RMAs in Canada that have actually improved the Prime (in cases where the original was "fixed" and returned)?

Once my Prime is sent back to me from its RMA I can post my thoughts on any improvements to my tablets overall performance.
I just got my prime back today, after sending it in exactly one month ago, to fix the green camera issue. I had to call them up to escalate the issue last week, because it was taking so long.
Anyway, they returned it good as new. They also replaced the cracked back panel, which was nice.

I'm in Ottawa too, and I'll like to try to get an exchange too. Which store did you do yours at? Also, how did you pitch it? Kinda like "I got this as a gift and it's been plagued with problems"?
So i just got back from BB
Walked in, told the guy i got it as a gift, didnt want or need it, wanted to return it
He asked if i had a recipt
i said nope, was a gift from my grandma out of town
he asked if theres any chance i could get the recipt
i said not likely, shes old and forgets things
he said without a recipt they cant return it for cash, tho he could do store credit
i said thats awesome, i was thinking about getting a laptop anyways
processed the return, turned it on to make sure its going strong, checked i had the accessories, all was well. Got me a gift card for when the store has 700's in stock. woot!
I call the 1-800 number for gamestop weekly to see if they are doing it yet, but they keep telling me that until an official recall of this pos is announced, it isn't going to happen. Maybe more of us should keep calling. We only have a little over 3 months left until all bets are off because best buy and amazon are doing it based on the 1 year manufacture's warranty.
The number is 1-800-883-8895. Lets get those calls going so maybe they will change their minds. I know that I won't ever buy anything from gamestop again because of this.
The more of us that call over and over will make them see that this is a problem. Tell them that Best Buy and Amazon are doing it.
I like the idea, it would be funny if it actually worked. Unfortunately I bought my prime at Nebraska Furniture Mart, and when I asked them about it they just laughed at me and asked if I was serious, which I don't blame them. This should be Asus' responsibility.
I agree that it is definitly Asus's responsibilty but they could care less. They are just playing the silent game or tell us to RMA it so they can dent it and scratch it up and then send it back unrepaired.
So now its up to the retailers to step it up like best buy and amazon to show that they have their customer's backs and shove these manufacture defective pos's right back to Asus.
I mean come on. I can't even open GMail without it crashing and having to reboot. Not to mention playing a game. Oh and I love having to switch seats with my brother in law who has an Ipad so that I can be closer to the router to get a signal.
I tried to call mediaworld (a very common store here in italy), where i bought my prime, just for curiosity, saying exactly what people who got an exchange said to bestbuy. They answered me that the only thing i could do was RMA the product to have its back cover replaced with a plastic one ................ (i addressed wifi as the biggest problem of the tablet). Here in italy, in italian stores, having a product exchanged like bestbuy products is a wonderful dream!

I will join you & call weekly as well. Mine is from Gamestop... sigh......=/
Although, this is really ASUS responsibility.
I sent an email as opposed to calling them as I'm in the UK which I have quoted below. It's a tad bit melodramatic but whatever .
Hello,
As I'm sure you are aware many of those who have purchased Asus TF201 Transformer Primes have faced a mountain of problems ranging from rather tame issues such as minor light bleed or a couple of dead or stuck pixels to major issues that make the device borderline impossible to use such as very poor WiFi range and speeds and system hangs and freezes that make something as simple as changing something in the settings a needlessly difficult chore.
Now, many of us (And I stress the many) who have encountered the aforementioned problems have looked to Asus directly to rectify and fix these issues whether it be via updates to the tablets software or by shipping off their tablet to Asus for them to fix it directly. These fixes have not came which has left those with issues with a $500+ tablet that has for some, become a paper weight. Those who have sent their tablet off to Asus have came back with horror stories such as physical damage to the tablet itself including scratched backplates and screens and even bends in the aluminium casing on the Prime, not to mention the more than a month long turnaround only for them to receive their Primes back battered and bruised with none of the problems they sent it in for fixed.
As you are likely aware, both Best Buy and Amazon have been either giving customers who have came in to complain about their Primes store credit which has been swiftly used to buy what the Prime should have been, the TF700 Infinity also by Asus, or full refunds including shipping. This is what I would hope to hear yourselves doing as you as a company will have a much higher chance of getting something back from Asus than us consumers whether it be actual fixes/replacements on the faulty Primes or refunds on the stock of Primes that were returned to you. I would be very happy to receive store credit to spend in your store on the Infinity given the chance but I know that this is unlikely to happen.
I know that this email will fall on deaf ears and will probably be received by some guy at a desk employed to respond with generic emails but whatever, I tried.
Regards,
Jordan.

Hi,
any infos for this replacement? Can the back cover be replaced with the TF300 or TF700 ones?
Just sent my prime in yesterday regarding weak or unacceptable wifi signal...
Two days ago I called and after 5 CSR`s who all told me I was pretty much left with the tf201, based on it was 10 months past thier policy and that with no official recall nothing they could do. So I asked for another supervisor . After explaining the issues she told me she would call me back within 24 hours , low and behold 18 ours later she calls an says they would be happy t exchange for a tf700t and it would be shipped out overnight. And if I could please follow email instructions on returning my prime. Sounded reasonable. To me still doubtful I awaited and sure enough not even 24 hours later ups delivered a tf700t. I was very calm , collected and reasonable with all cars and am very pleased with the results. Hope this helps someone. Patience worked 2.5 hours of phone time and a small wait all it took for me. I stressed the Wifi issues to them and let them know Asus admitted to faulty design.

Hi Bentear. Great news about your prime. It wasn't clear to me what store you had called. I purchased my prime from Amazon in January and have sent it back twice. The second time, the wifi was a little better, all the other problems untouched or made worse. Tablet is dying a little more each day. If you could let me know the store and the supv. name, I will rename the 4th of July BENTEAR DAY
---------- Post added at 03:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:47 PM ----------
I sent the Asus CEO, [email protected] and Chairman, [email protected] emails about my tablet defects. Of course, I haven't heard anything back and don't expect to. They have all this BS about caring for their customers on their website, brochures, etc. They only care about bringing people in, grab their money and then kick them out the backdoor. Well, those are the email addresses in case any of you want to contact them. I've posted the addresses on all the forums I belong to, the two Facebook pages that Asus has and a mens room stall. LOL. I had meant to post the addresses everyday at least somewhere but health problems put that on hold. Time to hit the trash sellers again and start the circuit back up.

Well, i don't know if those e-mail adresses are real, but i give it a shot and send the following mail
Hi,
I'm writing to you, with the hope that my mail can alert you to the bad image Asus have in this moment, mostly related with the attitude showed about the Asus TF201 issues.
I have one of this devices, which is supposed to be a high end device.
However, it is not... and that's because the device is full of issues, mostly related to hardware design flaws. The known design issues are:
- Metal back plate, which blocks Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS signal.
- Poor I/O performance which slows down the tablet overall performance and causes instability.
Many people are waiting for 10 months for a magic solution or a recall/refund by Asus. However, all we have see is desperate attempts to fix the hardware issues with unsuccessfully software patches, and even those patches release is frozen for 3 months now.
Some stores on US (Amazon, Best Buy, ... ) are starting to refund their clients, and guess what, people is exchanging their Asus tablets for tablets from other brands.
I believe this is embarrassing for Asus image and you should do something about it.
One idea of damage control is to recall all the TF201, and exchange it for free with TF700, which have some of this issues solved (not all, unfortunately...).
You can see how people are feeling about Asus on this famous Android developers Forum --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1412
I expect you read this e-mail and take some measures about this problem.
Thanks in advance for reading my e-mail.

Cool! I also got mine from gamestop and since then my micro HDMI died, gps sucks, and my router is outside of my room and I only get 2/4 bars on this thing. Just terrible. Will definitely attempt to contact for an exchange/refund
several weeks ago I went to gamestop where i bought my prime and exchange it. ok the story is that I bought the extended warranty on it and the prime I had was not giving me much problems so I was riding it out. how ever my wife by mistake broke my hdmi port so i decided to go and exchange since i had the extended warranty. so i went in and ask the manager to please exchange to the infinity or put my money in a gift card he said was not able to because they had the prime in stock. so he went and gave me a new prime and gave me a new warranty for free. so on my way home i decided to stop at a different game stop. talked to a manager and went back and forward for almost an hour it was not till I said what I'm going to do with this thing since i don't want it and is brand new in a box and i refuse to open it to test if it is good or not and the horror stories of rma and last when I said I was contacting corporate since he was not been helpful in a very respectful way that he agreed to exchange my tablet since it was new for a infinity. that was Saturday and on Tuesday he called me to go and pick it up and went and renew my warranty again for free for another year. so guys don't give up on this it will not be as easy as amazon or best buy but it can be done.
