mod. arc-arcs camera.apk improved - Xperia Arc Themes and Apps

Works on arc and arc s
As they write:
Any modification implies a tad of risk and I am not responsible for any failure that may occur on the phone, but if done right, do not have to have any problem.
It requires:
- Be Root.
- RootExplorer or analog.
Installing the camera:
1. Make a backup of the original and SemcCameraUI.apk CameraExtensionPermission.apk found in system / app / root with the explorer, to have backup in case something goes wrong.
2. Download the modified files I uploaded the zip and unzip in the sd of the phone.
5. Copy the two files modified in the root system explorer /
3. Change the permissions of both files, must be attached as the catch below *.
4. Move the two files to system / app / replacing the original.
5. reboot
*. Permits:
http://s3.subirimagenes.com:81/imagen/previo/thump_70163941.png
and now the camera does not compress images both before a photo and now occupying 2.40 mb 1.40 mb noting an improvement to enlarge the images.
Attached Images

Does it only work on the arc and arc s?

Nice! Works on Neo too! Thank you!!

Works great on neo man, great mod.
Anything improvement on image qualities?
Sent from my MT15i using XDA App

Size in increased for sure, took some random pictures and they were approximately 1,8 MB each.
I can't comment on the quality, seems better but could be a placebo. I need to make some comparison photos to make sure.

same here ..... size is now almost 1.8 mb ..width and height is same but im not sure about quality.. looks same.... I attached images.

How do the a actual photos look?
Any difference in noise levels?
iR¡[email protected]!* via Tapatalk

i think just same nothing change .... i guess only one change just size from 826 KB to almost 1.8 mb
regards

Can someone take 2 picture...one with stock app, one with modded and upload it so we can compare?

Sorry, in my oppinion, if the qualities are almost the same why do we need it to be the lager size instead of the smaller?
Larger size = larger memory we need = longer time to upload or send via bluetooth.

If my memory correct,
Someone already said use with Camera360 the file size is bigger, however the quality nothing improvement, someone point out this is becoz of the camera driver issue, the driver compress the image
So someone said the key point is the SE, I use X10 and Arc
The X10 enlarge the photo is better then Arc, and the X10 take the photo size is bigger than Arc by the stock cam app
So the driver issue may be true

what improvement does this mod apply ?

@larut: u can mod camera with auto-flash for RAY? I need it because RAY dont have auto-flash in stock rom

Only the compression is removed. That means there will be less JPEG artifacts. No change in noise reduction/details etc.

will it work on miui roms?

Maybe the effect will be more noticable when taking a picture in the dark, with lots of noise.
To the Neo owners that have it already:
The Arc's camera is said to make better pictures than ours, do you notice any improvements? Will flash asap.

So, I made 3 comparison pics, under different condictions, but some have a bit different lighting conditions. This is because the some clouds went in fornt of the sun, while my phone was rebooting (takes ~3 min. no kidding, it's a shame). Sorry about that.

When using a boot animation previewer it's laggy... something tells me when i put this on the atrix its going to be just as laggy... and 35MB?
Hi,
I like it, it's different. For those who have some other use for the free space on /system I put up a smaller version, just contains the rescaled original pics with no generated intermediate zooms. The nature of the animation is that each pic gets zoomed before displaying the next one, I tried to duplicate that in the boot animation by adding more pics.
Cheers!

wow, quick! thanks man
Np I already had it halfway done, wasn't sure how smooth it would be, trimmed it down from 525 images to 176, only one intermediate between source images. The original zoom quilt is 45 images, the second is 87, both at 800x600, I ran a script using imagemagick to zoom in and crop out a section of each pic, then used Irfranview in windows to convert to indexed in batch mode. For some reason, ImageMagick doesn't like indexed pngs on my computer, convert -colors 256 apparently means take image size and quadruple it.

Hi,
By using jpg, the files are half the size, what was 30MB is now 15MB. I don't see any thumbnail files in the archives, but yeah that would cause artifacts if you use windows. My phone boots fast enough I don't get to see a second run of the animation, lol. Also I add to archive using 7zip with zip as the format, store as the compression, since compression can be an issue with android and resources. Unzip on the phone can't unzip the files 7za creates, so be aware of that as well. I

[Q] What camera app do you use?

So since the original camera app by SE is beyond retarded by compressing 8MP pictures to 4MP sizes and below what camera app do you guys use?
So far the best I've come across among the free apps is Camera360. It doesn't compress images as much if you set it to 90% quality giving you a 2-3MB pictures when set to 8MP and 90% quality (though I played with some settings and now it's only creating 1.2-1.6MB pictures, but it's still noticeably better than stock) so I guess I need to try the paid apps next.
Anyways I was just wondering what does everyone else use in an attempt to get the most out of the great 8MP sensor on the Neo?

really?
is this when enabeling something or zooming in?
or just when taking normal pictures....
Go put em on PC, you won't find a single one above 1MB regardless of your settings. If you set it to 2MP you get a picture that's 150kb-290kb. 6MP gets you a 500-700kb pic. The Arc and as far as I know all SE phones are affected by this "feature"/bug
If I take a 6MP pic with out point and shoot dediacted 6MP camera it's usally 2.3-3.4MB big.
If I take a 5MP pic with my Nokia Navigator I get a 2.3MB-3.5MB pic.
In other words SE is compressing the 8MP pic to WAAAAAYYYY below the size it should be.
Might be true, but for most things, you won't notice the compression.
I use the stock camera app and Vignette, mainly for the effects. It has 84 effects. There's also a demo.
I'll try out Camera 360 aswell.
You'll notice it the second you zoom into any pic you've taken on PC. The quality is then barely better than a 2MP pic.

just took a picture in Vignette, quality superfine, 8mp. It's 5,99mb. Mind. is. blown.
just go to filestube.com and search for vignette or buy it in the market. Also just tested the speed to make a photo from the homescreen. Stock app was a second slower than Vignette, camera360 was 3 seconds slower. Vignette takes a picture and processes it on the background, so you can take another picture right after another.
Vignette doesn't do normal pics though?
Right I've been testing Camera Zoom FX, Vignette, Camera360 and the stock cam and in my opinion Camera360 takes the best pictures because it has superior image stabilization to Vignette (unless I just haven't found anything), then Camera Zoom FX and lastly the stock cam.
The stock cam captures much less extra detail than the others.
Basically since Camera360 is the only free one I recommend everyone tries it. Watch out though, if you set it to save 100% it compresses it's images the same way the stock cam does but if you set 90% you get the best this app can take.
This includes any Arc owners that come across this thread.

3.1 MP is standard. There should be a button (second one from the right) with the resolution in it (e.g. 3.1MP) if you click on it, you should be able to choos up to 8MP.
I can't get Vignette to take good pics, they end up even worse than stock despite being 5 times as big (I'm talking about shakyness/preservation of small details). Camera360 Free consistently takes better pics though. Unless SE fix this issue I reckon I'm gonna keep using Camera360 Free for all my still shots that don't require zooming or vids.

As per title, the patch provide fix for faulty camera parameters reported to 3rd party camera on 4.18 Base ROM.
In case you haven't notice, 3rd party camera can only detect 6 MegaPixels on Android 4.2.2 & Sense 5.
While this has been plaguing 3rd party camera, HTC's stock camera remain intact on 8MP because it utilised internal buildflags to determine camera capabilities.
For awesome conspiracy theorists, this is not intentionally camera lockdown scheme from HTC to force people stay on HTC stock camera. Story telling at second post..

According to infomation, the last correct picture-size parameter was 2592x1952 that is why we get a 6MP picture size.
Why on earth would the camera parameters end with ,3, right?
The answer is obiviously simple enough. The parameters was long enough (over 256 words) and eventually lead to unexpected truncating circumstance.
Well, curiosity got me. I decide to dig out more..

It was those new rectangle picture sizes deemed to be culprit, because the parameters list somehow became too long. The addition values should corresponding to the rectangle crop size newly offer by HTC Sense 5 Camera.
I reckon it's safe to live without them because HTC stock camera doesn't really rely on CameraService to obtain picture-size-values. Other camera apps are fully relying on Camera.getParameters() API to obtain picture size parameters however they are unlikely expecting any rectangle picture sizes.
Eventually, I came out with solution: append new rectangle picture sizes as suffix.
Leave and lead them to truncate. Secured 3264x2448, save the world.

Either that you don't have busybox or the zip is damaged.
You can also manually replacing /system/lib/hw/camera.tegra.so on Android using file explorer. Remember to set the correct file permission.

I use InsertCoin 5.0-6. I just replaced the camera.tegra.so in /system/lib/hw, changed the permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--) with Root Explorer and rebooted the phone. Now I can additionally select "8,0MP" and "Wide 6,0MP" in Camera Zoom FX (see screenshot below), before that the highest value was "5,1MP".

Where in that file do you change the speaker? I want to leave that as default and only increase the others.
Thanks!

Edit: I tried ,I replaced the mixerpath.xml with the one provided in the 1/2nd post ,and the volume increased a lot.A lot means it the speaker clarity was gone totally...total crap..does everyone has the same issue?even on the stock?

Master sir
Thanks Op! Finally a sound mod that doesnt need to flash a zip and comes with a whole bunch of other junk. Worked perfectly on my Z Ultra on stock 5.0.2! Walkman didn't work but it doesn't matter since I use Poweramp Pro! Thanks again! BTW how come on speaker phone, the speaker sounds like a distorted piece of crap and when playing music through the speaker, it sounds normal?

Please, can someone share mixed_paths xml file for android 5.1.1 with values changed (С6802)?
With me it doesn`t work when i put the values as it is written in OP.
Please tell me a way to boost volume on Xperia Z Ultra C6802. I am on Cyanogen 12.1 rom currently now.

S9 - S9+ Camera Pic quality

I recently noticed that my pic's are all only 2.8-2,4 MP, while my setting is for 9.1 MP. My S7 was in the 6.+ MP range, so what is happening here ???
I have used stock and modded camera - all the same.

Can't get screen shot to attach.
Camera settings - picture size 16:9 (9.1 MP)
Well that's 16.9 ratio mp
---------- Post added at 09:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:26 PM ----------
I use 4:3 so that's the full 12mp..
Think 4:3 if your pc is no wide-screen and you also want to print the pics is better.
If you see your pics on on tvs and won't be printing them then 16.9 is better

I know, but prefer 16:9.
But the problem is it's supposed to be 9.1 MP and not just 3-4.

The size of the image dimensions (Megapixels) has nothing to do with the size of the image file (Megabytes).
Take a 12MP photo with your S9 and check the resolution, it should be 4032x3024.
The pictures from your S7 might have been a less compressed JPG and that's why its jpgs has a bigger file size.
Means you've set the pic size incorrectly as below
