Hello, I live in Italy and here this tablet should come in the last week of January. (It should come with ICS pre-installed)
I would like to buy it but before I would like to know the problems it has...
I read a lot about it, and understood that is haveproblems with GPS (not a problem for me).
There are other problems on that tablet?
The only thing I really need is Wifi, is it ok?
Battery life is ok?
Thankyou so much for all replies...
Battery life is good for me & so is wifi..Get the keyboard dock too.
Thankyou... If the only problem is GPS I think I will buy it, but without keyboard. I can't wait...
correct, the only major issue is GPS.
there's a thread here somewhere that details all the current issues and how severe of an issue they are, might be worth reading.
but personally, i'm very happy with the tablet.
im really confuse i heard it has wifi and bluetooth issues again (like cut it half speed and getting slow speed) coz of metal back and even also transformer prime discontinued?
it isnt discontinued. Asus always has problems keeping their stuff in stock.
Bluetooth I cant confirm or deny, but the WiFi problems are... wel not that big of a problem.
Desire Z has 3 bars vs Prime with 2 bars.

Over all this is really a good buy! I had my first one back in Dec 19th and it has a problem with the screen, I had to return it back. I ordered another Prime and I love it!! it has no problem everything working good wifi #1 thing with me and if it has any issue with wifi I will never keep it. GPS has issue (I really did not buy it for this) I have a smartphone so no problem for me!
I really hope you get one and enjoy it!
Good luck
I hard about WiFi range problems, what is the situation? Is on all devices? It is software or hardware issue and it William ne fixed?
Look, you are going to get a lot of different opinions here so my suggestion for you is to buy one from a store that will let you return the tablet if there are any problems. That way you can judge it for yourself. If you like it, keep it. If you think it sucks just return it. Easy
I'm from Italy too. I don't know if i'll buy tf201 or not, but if i'll buy it then will be difficult that a store will accept return and refund.
Asus Italy says that prime had less range with wifi than tf101, this is the only real problem of this device.

Yes, I think it will be better to buy it in a physical store, so it will be easier to return it...
Here in Italy the release date has been posticipated tue to WiFi problems, this means they are trying to fix it? Or they was only rumors?
Hey fellow prime Owners,
I noticed that my tablet 'rattles'. Its hard to locate where its coming from, but it seems that its coming from the speaker side area.
It's been "rattling" for a while now. Performances are as expected and the rattling does not seem to be affecting anything specific.
Given that the Prime is rooted & unlocked...
...I'm wondering IF I should:
1) Live with it, it works, so why fix it?
or
2) Try to RMA it via Asus. I bought the Prime at Best Buy in January,so BB's warranty is gone by now but maybe it's a simple loose screw or something that just needs tightening...
thoughts? suggestions?
I would suggest 1 live with it.
I had my transformer for a week, noticing that the gorilla glass was coming off.
Sent it to RMA on Feb 4th
I GOT IT BACK TODAY! Mar 28th
I fought with mails, phonecalls, and the consumer safety department.
RMA said it was Customer induced damage, then after a month it was not (they wanted 300$ from me!) waiting with no reply from any of the employees.
i was stressed out for 2 months.... i wouldn't recommend it :-D
(i still can't look at it till tomorrow because i'm not home right now, so stressed out till tomorrow night )
It can be different with your problem, but that's my 2 cents i can give you...
Mine has done this since January and I haven't had any problems other than that the vibrate sounds awful beyond all reason. Anyway if it doesn't bother you during use, I wouldn't do anything (especially not RMA, because they will almost definitely introduce a real problem while trying to fix it)
Why deal with a problem that shouldnt even be there?
If you don't need the tablet right away, I would just go through the RMA process.
I know for me, I didn't pay 500$ for a loose screw (or whatever it is) rattling inside my prime.
Pretty pathetic Asus won't honor its own warranty.
You can open it yourself and inspect. It maybe something you can fix easily. Really easy

Hey everyone,
I've been wanting a Prime ever since I heard about it last December, and I've decided to purchase it within the upcoming weeks. However, while reading around about all the problems I am now a bit hesitant -- I don't want to be stuck with a defective Prime after the return period is up.
So I was wondering what I should be looking as far as problems with my Prime goes?
A list of problems would be appreciated.

Take a very close look at screen. Lightbleed around the edge, dead pixels and LCD mura which are bright spots, check for this on a white background. Other than that check WiFi is OK for u and all adaptors, SD USB etc all work OK.
Hope this helps...

Thanks guys, but I've been thinking about it too much and now I'm considering waiting off til Juneish to get the TF700 instead. This way I wouldn't have to worry about many of the problems that come along with the Prime.
Any thoughts on this? I really want the Prime, but the potential for problems makes me look to its successor.
Hi guys; I bought the appropriate lead last week but the HDMI-out isn't working.
I've tried the lead on a friend's Pad300 and it worked fine. I also tried someone else's lead on my Prime but got nothing.
As far as I can tell it's supposed to be a simple plug-it-in-and-it-mirrors kind of deal, which isn't working. Before I RMA it is there any setting that could be causing the issue?
Cheers.
Had the same issue with mine and had to RMA. If you do not get the hdmi notification when you plug it in you likely have a bad port. The good news is that RMA's have been trending better lately.

Thanks clenz; yes there's no notification on the tablet.
Good to hear about the RMAs, although it's not going to be nice being without my favourite toy for a while!
On the plus side perhaps they'll replace it with the latest revision; I have the earliest one currently.
They ended up replacing my motherboard. I had an early BCOKAS model. I still wasn't happy based on bt/wifi issues so ended up getting a refund, but the RMA process was not bad. I suggest you PM ASUS_USA and have him help with the process - it will go smoother.
Good luck

Anyone else Bricked there Unlocked TF201 and sent it in to Asus for Repair?
I had tried to upgrade to the latest TWRP with the ADB method (su, then ... dd if=/sdcard/twrp.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4) and then rebooted the device. At that point I was hosed . I had Bricked it to the point where it would only display the initial ASUS Logo screen and then go into a boot loop. I figured out that if I used Power+Volume Up it would go into an APX mode, where NVFLASH could kinda of see it. As I understand it, if I had taken the precaution to Backup my Blob file I could have recovered... well, lesson learned.
But any way, I called ASUS and they told me it was no longer in warranty since I unlocked it. I asked for an approximate cost to reload the OS and was told $87.00
Well, after 7 days I get an email telling me I am out of warranty because I unlocked it and the Cost for repair would be...
Parts - $161.00 (Motherboard)
Labor - $65.00
Why do they need to replace the Motherboard. Don't they have the power to just reload the OS?? Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks
I'm italian and i bricked my tf201, so i sent to asus for rma and they repaired it in warranty.
I believe they don't change my mb.

This is the only way they fix this issue. It seems to me that they should be able to push the OS to the bricked prime with a factory cable of sorts, (like the guys over on the motorola forums do) but it looks like they instead just swap the motherboards out... I don't quite understand the process as to why they would need to do this either. Its probably some BS because we unlocked our primes... In this case im just going to purchase a prime with a broken screen and swap the motherboard myself. Much cheaper that way.
Thanks. I may do the same.
I am from Montenegro. I bricked my tf201 with job update. It was in warranty so I sent it for repair. They replaced motherboard, and made a few scratches wile doing that. It wasn't even rooted... I am so pissed off at them. I adored my transformer but this was so bad it ruined my vision of Asus.

Im sure it depends on what their policy is on how to fix it at the repair center. Generally, whatever makes the most money wins. That plus they need to dump all the spare parts on somebody....
They replaced the motherboard for free on my prime =D
Great. I just sent mine in last week and I'm expecting it back today or tomorrow. I don't have a warm fuzzy...
I love my Prime, but GOOD LORD, Asus has horrible support. A couple of rubber feet came off my docking station. They wanted me to send it in under RMA to get replacements.

No, not from Asus. I just got some rubber feet from something else and stuck them on. Asus is TERRIBLE for after-sale support. Much as I love my prime (A LOT), I don't think I'll ever buy another Asus product. They're that bad.
fix for brick
I was considering buying a broken tf201 and swapping processors, but you can get a "refurbished" tf201 for $275 on ebay.
So, instead of sending ASUS $220, I'll buy a semi-new tf201, and use my old bricked one for future parts.
It is a shame asus wont just reload the flash, but I guess it is their business model

This doesn't give you the "hanger queen" for spare parts but here is a place selling a "manufacturer refurbished" TF700 for $419
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Asus-Eee-Pa...34773390?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item257875c28e
Are keyboards interchangeable between the 201 and the 700?
