[Q] I thought that there was a barometer in the prime? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I just received my prime today and am very happy. I read in several websites that the prime had a barometer but it does not show my stats in weatherbug. Can anyone confirm that it does indeed have a barometer?

Try Elixir app. It can show every sensors built-in.

There's no barometer sensor in the Prime. Sorry.

I believe you are thinking of the phone the nexus prime that has a barometer in it.

Printing on the Prime

How do you print from the Prime and what software and printer do you use? I am thinking of buying the Prime, but I must be able to print emails and web pages.
Many thanks
It looks like Wi-Fi Direct (a new feature on ICS) will allow printing using a Wi-Fi compatible printer, but there are also a lot of apps that do this (ie CloudPrint).
Where do you find this?

I use PrinterShare (in Market). I had this for my old tablet (Viewsonic Gtab) and it works well. My old HP LJ4 has a JetDirect network card, so I don`t have to have a PC sharing to use it.
WiFi direct is the feature he was talking about. Something thats supposed to be baked into ics.nothing to do with a seperate app.

Exactly - if he had a clue he would know that you do not search the market for something that is supposedly a built-in feature of ics, so his witty insight is pretty much useless. Wi-fi Direct was mentioned as something new in ics, does anyone have any additional details on this?

On my phone I use "PrinterShare Mobile Print" combined with a Brother 2070N printer. My computer doesn't need to be on or have anything installed since my printer is connected directly to my router. The app simply allows me to print pretty much anything from my phone. I got it free during one of Amazon's free paid apps of the day. It's kind of spendy otherwise.
I haven't tried it on ICS or the Prime yet but it works fine on an Evo Shift and a Nexus S 4G.

Finally decided to get the Prime 64GB

Just picked up the 64GB Asus Transformer Prime 2 hours ago and so far really liking how fast this thing is! I got the keyboard as well, but as I am typing on the Prime, I keep accidentally hitting the track pad and keeps moving around. Will have to check for the settings if there is any. It does have Android 4.0.3.
Now will be selling my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Fry's Electronic store. The website shows as zero instock, but I was in the area and stopped by and they had them in-stock. They actually have the Champagne 32GB as well.

And you don't have any issues with horizontal lines across your screen?
I decided to get breakfast this morning. It was pretty good, although I kept trying to eat my cornflakes with a fork.

So far no horizontal issues that I see. only seeing the GPS issue like others, and low WiFi signal.
Another thing I did notice is that I have the keyboard dock and when I docked the Prime, it was showing that the Prime tablet was at 100% and the dock at 90% and started to have some lock ups, I restarted and when it did, it showed the Prime tablet 89% and the dock 91% and doesn't show that it is charging the Prime tablet. Hmm... Not good for a $600 tablet.
Another thing I noticed is that the cursor jumps all over the screen when I am typing with the keyboard and I don't even touch the track pad. Another bad thing. I might try to exchange the keyboard dock for another and see if it is the keyboard.

gps fix seems to be released in the new OTA update tonight.
What version does it up date too? Running the System Firmware Update and keep getting "Failed to Connection" I will keep trying
Hopefully it does fix GPS as I would use this feature a lot since I would be traveling outside office everyday.

Try turning off the touchpad while you type. It's the 4th button from the left on the top row, if your keyboard is like the TF101's.

Thanks i did disable the touchpad but thats not really what i wanted to do. I am going to exchange the dock for another one just in case there is something wrong with this one.
By the way keyboard works great with touchpad disabled.

GPS transformer Prime TF201 -Very important-

Hi all,
Sorry if i am double-posting, but due to XDA policy and, as far as I am a "newbie" on XDA forum I am not able to answer posts...
But I think I found something very important related to GPS with ASUS Transformer Prime TF 201.
As a lot of folks I was grumbling with this bull**** GPS which hardly saw 1 sat and was not even able to lock to no one. I was using "GPS TEST" to test mine with the results I already told.
By curiosity I decided to try another GPS tester and downloaded "GPS Status" and what a miracle I had suddenly 4,7,9,...13 sats and locked with 5 at least...
So all of you who don't see sats on your Prime try to change your GPS tester...
Just an idea.
No offense to you as your suggestion is appreciated but this issue has been investigated by both ASUS and Prime owners and was determined to be a hardware issue, hence the GPS Extension kit that will ship out to registered owners in the next few weeks.
have tried both - still no satellites on the scene... relying fully on wifi triangulations which works okay within city..

Search the forums for GPS registration and you'll find it.
Re: the difference between app lock-ons, they're been discussed thoroughly. Search for aGPS, GPS, and the two app names and you'll find a pile of threads about it.

Update .21 is the latest update (although another is right around the corner) and the one you need. I don't have mine yet, so I'm not too sure, but as soon as you connect it and slide the locking mechanism over then it's connected. You have to turn your GPS on under your settings and it should be using the dongle. Have a walk outside, put it on and slide the lock, turn your GPS on and run GPS Test or something similar. Remove dongle and test again, you should see a huge decrease in performance if it performs without the dongle at all.
to be honest i have never seen any problem with the gps, i know its not really a great benchmark but seems just as good as my galaxy s.
i will run the tests with and without but didnt seem any quicker to lock when i popped outside a while ago. wasnt sure it was actually working which is why i posted this. wondered if it showed up anywhere similar to when the dock is in place.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
.22 is the latest update. It was forced so you wouldn't have seen it happen. Being rooted doesn't stop updates. I am rooted and it updated itself days ago. It contained the fixes for the dongle to work. For those who are unlocked, you have to wait for your ROM writer to add the code. Gary has said that ASUS are looking to release a version of NVFlash for those who are unlocked.

Really? I suppose you're one of the rare few who has relatively decent GPS reception somehow. Good for you lol, I hate you
I suppose the only way to really be sure is to disconnect the internal GPS from its antenna and then use the dongle. Surely there would be a way for the system to realize the dongle is inserted and to let the end-user know about it. I mean, they tell us to type words with the keyboard, I just can't believe they're not telling us we've plugged the dongle in. I wonder if some kind of Tasker profile couldn't differentiate between it and the dock, I doubt it?

Um, what? .22? What country and are you sure you don't mean .21? I keep my Prime's WiFi on 24/7 and my DMClient unfrozen, just manually checked and no update.
i am unlocked not rooted so i cant get anymore updates from asus. am on the latest .21 . updated before my prime was so kindly unlocked.

Any good?
Does the dongle make a marked difference in reception?
none at all as far as i can see.
could be
1. not working / user error
2. my prime gps was working ok to start with.
hoping there is someway to get feedback from the prime to let me know its using the dongle

I have the dongle
It definitely helps my gps but it dose look bad.
Maybe a company may start making skins for the dongle to make them more attractive and protected. Exposed dongles isn't good. It' not immuned to bumps and bruises.

My bad. Typo on my part. Of course it is .21!!
i think the dongle is well designed. locks in place and fairly discreet considering. could have been an ugly block like a usb stick or the camera add on thingy for the ipod.
i found it makes a nice handle when reading a book

I'll pull out my inner demandarin real quick to say do not apply direct pressure to the dongle - don't use it as an actual handle!
That being said, IMO it would be OK so long as you have larger hands and are pretty careful about it, just don't go trying to support your entire tablet with it. Don't support the tablet at all with it actually, seriously, going to feel terrible if you accidentally crack your screen lol
well didnt actually mean just the dongle. just adds a bit of a ridge to stop and slippage while holding

how accurate is the barometer in S3?

Hey y'all!
How accurate is the barometer in S3 supposed to be? Especially interested in the altitude readings. How come do I see variation between my phone and my friends in the same location?

AFAIK there is no barometer sensor inside the s3 and the altitude is anyway something which is acquired by GPS and/or magnetic field sensor.
Probably it differs, because one of you had gps disabled or you locked different satellites.
Also are both phones gs3?
