Can anyone enlighten me as to how svnet kernel wakelock drains my battery.
Lost 20% overnight, BBS shows 90% phone awake during that period mostly due to svnet.
I have JD ultimate set up, so shouldnt be running sync all night long tbh

JD uses more battery than it saves, it could be causing something to try to sync, but as its unable to it keeps the phone awake.
Try posting the dump or SS's of the BBS screen.
svnet means something is downloading, or trying to.
Try disabling JD.
That's a shame, I've bought the premium version of JD.
It should put the phone to sleep it between wifi syncs

What is should do and what it does are worlds apart, it sounds great but mostly it causes worse battery drains.
Lots of apps are not great, and when they try to sync, they will keep bloody well trying until they manage to, mindless of the battery drain.
And with the standard sleep policy on wifi, wifi will turn itself on and off when needed, also the new wifi chipsets are not like the old ones, there idle drain is almost non existent.
Just try to keep the phone in deep sleep as much as you can (Good to see you using betterbatterstats) and you will be fine.
I will disable JD this night and compare,
Too bad I can't get a refund for JD anymore, such a shame

Market refund window sucks, shame its not still 24h, you could always email them and ask for a refund and it doesn't do what it says it does, depends if they have a longer money back policy, I know some devs do.
But your best bet is to wait and see first.
I only lost about 1-2% over a 10h night so its doable.

Its well posted that JD can cause battery drain though some users find it works .
Worth reading all the battery faq posts to learn better battery habits .

Agreed, but one can never be sure without trying
So basicly you think the wakelock is caused by JD trying to open connection to sync but never closing them, thus not putting the phone in deep sleep?

App tries to sync, JD has network turned off, app still wants to sync, keeps the phone awake trying to sync without a network connection.

"wlan_rx_wake" is killing you. That's the WiFi drain bug. For me, Entropy figured out that part of the reason was due to my uVerse router spamming me with a multitude of ARP requests and thus my router was waking up my phone constantly when it should've been in deep sleep.
This happened when I was on UCKK6. I've since done a data wipe/factory reset and gone back to a UCKH7 baseband since UCKH7 seems to have teh filters working and the phone doesn't seem to respond to the uVerse router's spam.
Are you on UCKK6? If so, you might want to wipe and revert back to UCKH7.
Or if you have a uVerse router and want to keep UCKK6 (for whatever reason) - someone else here posted how to put a router behind the uVerse router. This way uVerse still handles all the IPTV stuff but the actuall wireless duties can be conducted by the 2ndary router which won't spam your phone to death.
If you search for it, you should be able to find the instructions on how to put the second router behind the uVerse router...again, assuming this is the issue you have.
Good luck.

Any one else when they look at their battery usage graph and see that the.phone is awake for large chunks of time?
Even if I haven't turned the screen on for hours it will have large chunks of time where it is awake. Not little quick sync periods. Large chunks as if I had turned the screen on and was doing things.
Even when I have background data, auto sync, and wifi off
also happens when I have data completely off. Aldo happens when I use airplane mode as well
And it isn't any apps I installed since it happens as well when im just straight stock. I've even gone as far as to freeze a ton of apps but still I see large chunks of awake time.
Is there any suggestions people have for me?
Or can others post shots of their battery usage graph so I can compare?
I will post mine when im in break so people can see what I am talking about.
I wish I could figure this out since I know my battery would last a LOT longer if it wasn't awake for so long so often.
Thanks for any input.
I go a step further and not only have I noticed it, there are days where I simply don't sleep and I'll do a 24hr all nighter and even 48hr all nighter.
At times when I'm doing some research and such I've noticed my phone simply wake up at random times as if I hit a button. The screen becomes illuminated and I sit there at the lock screen.
I've never been able to figure out why though.
Its not that my screen comes on.
The bar that shows "screen on" will have a long blank space but rights above it there will be two or three long chunks where it was awake. I understand the OS wakes up at times but I don't think it should be awake for as long as it shows.
Its usually a small dash of awake followed by a small space and then a large chunk of awake time. Small space of not awake then another large chunk awake. Then not awake for a while again. I can't figure out what is causing it to do that. Its not like I ha e email set up and its syncing a large email. I don't sync anything except gmail and it happens even with background data off and auto sync off..
Here is a link to my screen shot of my battery usage graph.
http://db.tt/DpxIh9Fp
Does anyone else have awake time like that?
I would have uploaded the picture into the post but I can't attach it from my phone browser.(if anyone knows a way I can plz let me know )

My awake time is also like that. Not concerned about it b/c I get "great" (relatively speaking, of course) battery life. I typically plug in to charge when I go to bed and usually the battery isn't close to dead yet.
okay so I did some messing around wit my phone and I think I may have solved my issue.
I turned the settings in date/time OFF for using network provided times. that is really all I changed.
and now even with sync on and background data on I am not seeing those huge chunks of awake time when the screen has been off.
if someone else could confirm this for me it would be great
I have also made it a point to make certain I reboot after any charging and I am sure that's helping as well
here is a screenshot http://db.tt/g6Njgfrx
I know it is only 3hrs but it has been looking like that all day as opposed to my screenshot from earlier in thread

yeah. I was going thru all ny settings and app cuz this was driving me nuts. it even did it still after a data wipe.
then I figured hey what the hell. its gotta be network time because that's really the only thing that could be going on in the background when I have everything else turned off.
and so far so good. my awake bars are looking much more in line with my use and data syncing.
I do not believe I changed anything else to get this result. as I said. turned that off and reboot after EVERY charge and everything seems to be in order now. this issue had been driving me insane since I've had this phone. I feel so relieved its over with.(knock on wood. this phone is so weird at times that I hope it doesn't revert and start waking up for no reason again.)

Possible Resolution to battery Drain Issue
I called Samsung Support and they helped me to change the wifi sleep policy from "never" to "when screen turns off". This resulted in using up less than 10% of my battery last night from 11PM to 7AM.
Action Taken:
1. Settings
2. Wireless and Network
3. Wifi Settings
4. Click Menu Button (next to Home Button) and Select Advanced
5. Select Wi-Fi sleep policy
6. Change it from "Never" to either "Never when plugged in" or "When Screen turns off".
7. One person reported success rebooting their phone after making these changes. For me I did not have to reboot.
I also thought that this may increase my hspa+ data usage, but it was hardly noticeable last night.
Yea...you're actually getting terrible battery life smarty pants

This happens with custom roms too. It is the wifi bug that Entropy512 noted in the other thread.
I'm getting around 20 hours on unnamed ROM with the mentioned wifi sleep policy setting. Is this good? I read my rss feeds like 5-6 times a day, make about 1 hour of phone calls, read autoguide forums like 5-6 times as well. I think it's ok?

I see that the major cause of battery usage is the WiFi, exactly like it was on WW28, the worrying thing is that I also spotted that during the night, the Prime lost 2%, even though all stuff was turned off with the Prime in sleep
All Sync, WiFi and all the things that could use WiFi are turned off and all "checks" are set in settings that could be checked/unchecked.
On WW28 and using the modded prop, I never lost a % during night.. so maybe the only way to have it working good again is to have a new prop suitable for the JB (I asked in the proper thread in Dev. forum)
Any other experiencing battery drain with JB? And especially a higher WiFi battery usage again?

The difference might be explained by the fact that if you use more "brightness" than I do, then the percentage of what screen and wifi use may vary.
My screen brightness is 20% then my value for screen is lower than yours and the battery higher, because that's the proportional values.. I think.
That's the best part, the tablet is usually 1-25% brightness the majority of the time. Prior to JB, similar usage would have wifi taking close to or above 2-1 ratio. <3 this update
I've found that I've got about 5% increase in battery life. There are new Power Saver section in settings so you might want to mess with those and see if it helps. From what I've seen it's really only to turn stuff off at a user defined power %. Still, check it out.

Thanks, but I did that.
I found a bug too.
When you change the power settings from the quick settings window in the "desktop", the changes are not recognized in the "power setting" you refer too, you have also to change there.
So if I choose balanced one place I have to do the same in the other too.
I see only that the WiFi is much faster at start when waking up from standby, but I think there is something wrong in these power settings.
I never lost 2-3% at night when the Prime was on WW28... and the battery/WiFi seems to drain faster now..
Just let things settle. These things takes time after updates. Its too early for any accurate readings anyways.

Remember that we do not use all same settings, and/or use devices same way. Making a comparison is only possible on the same device and the same setup/use.
I am happy that you are seeing improvements.

Aye, as far as I can notice it's draining a tiny bit quicker. I keep mine at max brightness IPS+ (except for late at night every now and again) but don't get more than an hour or two's use a day on average. Usually go anywhere from three to six days without charging, depending on how forgetful I am with turning WiFi off.
I can't factory reset like you until there's a new root method, but also like you I factory reset and restored only specific apps' data so the update would go as smoothly as possible. To no avail lol, but oh well. I'll give some more in-depth info as I have time to.

Odd. I use my tablet for media consumption and I have to charge my tablet every week & a half. I usually have it streaming videos around 75 minutes 5 to 6 days a week, so the really quick rough math is around 8 or so hours of SOT.

I experience large battery drain by wifi in sleep as well. After two/three days of idle tablet won't even power up until I plug it into the charger. Turning wifi off before putting tablet to sleep helps, but's really annoying. One would expect Samsung would fix this ASAP.
I take my earlier comment back, aqdc still has the wifi drain bug, very annoying. Also, the new ipad pro makes this look like a joke. We need an 8895 in this tab not useless qualcomm chips.
Latest AQF3 still has the bug, I guess it's time to give up on this tablet and just use my S8+ for everything. Samsung support thread in case in anyone wants to vent:

Tried to find the root cause using wakelock detector and greenify, didn't yield much. The problem is likely at the system firmware/wifi driver level. I suggest all folks start returning their S3s , teach Samsung a lesson.
AQF5 build came out today for Korea, trying that now. The way they are increasing the build numbers, hopefully they are actually fixing something. Interestingly this had a modem file too though the SM-T820 is wifi only.
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-s...3AFA163EE8F90B
No dice still with AQF5 KOO firmware today, I officially give up. Likely a hw issue , only reason they have not addressed it across 6 firmware updates. Too bad since the tablet is very decent otherwise. Unlikely this will ever get fixed at this point since this is not a Note 7 type headline grabber. Time to find an used S2 to replace the one I sold or wait on something else.My S3 is going back tomorrow.
SOLUTION for SAMSUNG S3 TAB
go to SETTINGS - CONNECTIONS - in the right top corner click on ADVANCED. click on to "KEEP WIFI ON DURING SLEEP" and select NEVER.
I was pulling my hair out as my tablet was running out of battery unless I manually switched off wifi. Hope this helps.

Oled display`s use a huge amount of power when showing white/light screens, oled is best for video(supposedly use less power than lcd)
Buy an lcd display tablet if you do a lot of writing/drawing.

I noticed that Cell standby take from battery even if you don't have sim card
++ Go to developer options and turn on do not keep activities
+++ Advanced WLAN Settings >> Keep WLAN on during sleep >> never
Hey, about two weeks ago I got myself a new S21. On the first day I was stoked, since I got 10hours of screen-on-time, a value that I never had before with any phone.
But the next day the illusion got destroyed, 3 hrs of screen on time. Something felt off, since I didn't even use the phone that much.
...long story short:
No matter how I use the phone (or not), the battery life seems to be the same. It doesn't make a difference if I use the phone or not, if anything, it feels like the battery drains faster when the device isn't turned on.
I tried to set ALL apps to "deep standby", turn all sensors off. I even turned all settings off which might cause anything to be running in the background, like tap to wake, aod, fingerprint, pick up detection and what not...
Still, I don't get more then 12-20h of total battery life. It doesn't make a difference if I use the phone or not. Even if I don't use the phone at all, after 20h it's dead. If I use it extensively, I still get up to 20h, but the screen-on-time gets significantly higher.
Obviously, if I was to run some stresstest all the time, the battery would drain faster, but that's not the point here. Im talking about normal use (Facebook, WhatsApp, light browsing).
Btw. It was running on the latest Android 12 build the whole time. And I just received an update today and no changes in behaviour.
Disable all power management!!!
Developer options>standby apps, all buckets should show as active otherwise power management is active. You can't turn it off here!
Android will manage its self without this junk.
Find the problem apps and deal with them on a case by case basis. Take out the trash; FB, WhatsApp, Twitter etc... ditch that malware!
Device Care>storage, clean now and clear Google play Services data(repeat as needed).
Clear system cache.
Google backup Transport and cloud apps are prime suspects especially screen off.
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services.
Use the factory load version of apps... update one at a time and observe for a battery hit.
Go back to Android 11 if possible.
Don't burn up the battery! Power down when hot.
Limit top charge to 80%, low discharge to 30%
Don't use in direct sunlight if so only briefly.
Keep brightness at 50% or less to save battery and display.
That comment is basically useless. You're telling me not to use my phone at all, since WhatsApp and Facebook are the only things I do anyway.
Also the thing about battery care is not relevant right now, I'm saying the device is basically new and the idle drain is an issue. How am I supposed to prevent the phone from overheating while idling?

Nonetheless, I have discovered some articles which mentioned something about VoLTE drain. It should have been sorted out by previous updates and apparently doesn't even concern all devices. But trying is free, right?
I have disabled VoLTE and enabled all battery savers. I got 10h of screen on time and about 36h of total time, which is great! (for a S21)
Next step will be verifying the results by turning everything on again, except VoLTE. (note: I had tested the same scenario before, only with VoLTE on.)

I did answer your question but you decided to get ignorant.
There likely is no one specific easy fix for your problem. I spent many hours optimizing my device... far longer then you.
When the battery life dies again and/or you get erratic behavior don't say I didn't try to warn you.
If you're too lazy to troubleshoot your own device, don't be crying and insulting others trying to show you where you might start.
I don't have battery issues...
