unlocked.
You don't even have to have root to install a different stock ROM or a custom ROM.

Bootloader Unlock struggles

I upgraded to stock OTA 2.3.4 yesterday, but need to get root so I was going to unlock the bootloader.
Seems OEM unlock fastboot command does not work, as it says "oem unlock is not implemented"
Any ideas?
flash pudding and try again. and, im pretty sure you don't need to unlock the BL to get root.
Preinstall method should work on locked BL.

You have to RSD the modified sbf after the stock upgrade to get the unlocked bootloader then you can use the fastboot OEM unlock command.

I thought RSD SBF on OTA 2.3.4 =permabrick

I followed the instructions in the [DEV] forum and unlocked the bootloader and fastbooted new recovery with CWM and applied root from a new stock Atrix. I'm not a total noob having unlocked the bootloader on the Xoom now running Tiamat 1.1 and a Cappy on Continuum 6.1.

[Q] Bootloader and Root Question

I know, i know i am a noob, but i have a question. If i root my Motorola Atrix, did that unlock the bootloader. I want to install the ROM Aura and in the Requirements: it said you need an unlocked bootloader, and i know i am rooted but not sure if i have an unlocked bootloader. Any help?
Rooting does NOT unlock the bootloader. What you need is use the IHOP (AKA Pudding) method.
Info about that is in the Dev section. Just search for IHOP and that will give you the info about how to unlock the BL...

Need help with flashtool / .71 firmware and miui

I've been trying all day to flash the .71 firmware and different kernels for miui.
I really want miui to work on my x10. I've tried all the provided kernels for the miui Roms I've tried.
I can flash the uk generic firmware fine but when I try the kernels in flashtool it keeps saying error aborted and keeps doing that but if I try uk generic again it flashes fine.
I have x10i uk vodaphone
Thanks

Have you unlocked your boot loader?
It was previously unlocked. If I reflash original uk firmware does it relock again? Any app about to test if it locked or not?

SIM unlocked or bootloader unlocked? to check if bootloader is unlocked run this: (post#2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087
where it says: RUNNING S1_EROM FROM VER "r8Axxx" if the first letter is lowercase, you're unlocked. If you see "R8Axxx" the you will need to unlock.

[Q] Rom that doesn't require an unlocked bootloader

I have SE Live With Walman, and it's rooted with doomlord's rootkit, however my phone doesn't allow bootloader unlocking. So, i was wondering if there's any rom that doesn't require unlocked bootloader and costum kernel.

Bootloader

I have a x10 running 2.3.3 official firmware.
I have rooted it.
So have I unlocked the bootloader?
If no,how to unlock it??

Rooting is not part of unlocking bootloader. Check first by dialing *#*#7378523#*#* and if bootloader says YES then you can unlock it. But if you are locked in a specific carrier then you need to unlock your sim first then proceed to unlocking bootloader. Check the development thread and look for proper bypass for bootloader unlocking.
