I have a german no brand s2 version. It is a XWKI4 kernel version and I have already rooted it.
This version is still at 2.3.4 version.
I want to upgrade to 2.3.6 version. I saw recently that there is a new version I9100 XILA2 for Italy. Can I use this version?

Hey, im trying to update my galaxy s2 to 2.3.5 but confused as to what firmware to flash. the current CSC i is I9100XEUKD1, I am on o2uk, could anyone help and tell me which official firmware to flash?
There isn't a 2.3.5 XEU update. 2.3.4 is the latest for the uk.

I'm having a Samsung Galaxy s2 (GT-I9100) and I'm from India. Here, the latest android version as released by samsung is 2.3.3. And there are no updates whatsoever ! I want to update my android version. Is there any ofiicial samsung android release for sgs2 ? (2.3.4 or 2.3.5) ? I do not want to use install modded version of android ...

What have you tried so far? KIES or in the about update menu from within the phone? They're difference processes (funny, right? lol).
Try it via KIES.
I'm in England, I've also not yet rooted my S2 (although I probably will, to get rid of the bloatware crap- i.e. Game Hub etc)
We've only got a 2.3.4 official firmware available here. Sometimes this is up to your service provider to release it.
Your other option is to root, and flash an official firmware.
Or take a giant leap and read the INDIAN thread .

2.3.3 is the latest available for i9100 in india ..how ever you can install European countries firmware which is 2.3.6 latest...

just download the latest version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 ..... i am currenlty using UK one and it works like a gem....if u want to root instructions are there in the same link.....
why u want to stuck to the old ones when you have the latest firmware, eventhough not for india.....but it works.....

I'm using stock 2.3.5 and it works as a charm. Good battery time and very stable.
I got easy root using ZergRush Exploit and this method will not work on 2.3.6.
So even if Samsung release 2.3.6 for Nordic countries, I will skip this update and wait for ICS coming in this Q1

double check the model number, if it says GT-I9100, you can use any of the firmwares in this forum except from the GT-I9100G subforum. From there you can upgrade to XXLPS for the official unbranded ICS.
Yes, it is GT-i9100. Can you give me a link for the firmware? I am new to this forum. If there is a step-by-step firmware change and ICS updates, that will be great.

i have a question for the 9100G of my Wife. I have Flashed the 4.0.3 French Version on her Device and now there is a 4.0.3 and rumors about a 4.0.4 in Germany. Can i flash the German 4.0.3 over the existing 4.0.3 French without loosing data?

If it's 4.0.3 to 4.0.3 then yes, if you just flash a pda from sammobile then you shouldn't have a problem at all just flash and all your settings/data should be there!

thanks for reply. Having a custom Kernel and flashing an original firmware should overwrite it simply. So i will try it! If its good to know for someone i will report back after flashing!
