So I was looking around and look what I found on the market! I know a ton of people have been waiting for this!

ICS Messaging app!
BTW can a dev out there please remove the ads.
Here is the apk for a dev who wants to try and modify to remove the ads and section for ads. It will not decompile correctly with 2.3.x framework so may require 4.0 framework.
http://db.tt/P96sfM9h
Hey i can try to remove the adds and ill see if it requires 4.0 framework
Thanks! The dedicated space for ads is the main messaging list. I think my issue was I used an older APK tool that doesn't support ICS.

I guess I'll have attempt a stab at it, as well.
Nice find! When sending mms pictures are sent sideways, even when taken in portrait. Contact pictures don't show up in messages list either. Not big problems but just a few I've noticed, otherwise nice messaging app.

Pictures send fine for me. Only picture that doesn't show for me is my own. Remember this is from ICS which doesn't support Facebook contacts so only your google contact pictures will show unless you add them.

Here is the link to download a zip that contains the apk, project files, and this was fixed so it will compile for you.
This is the apk manager with the files already there. ICS Framework included and ICS MMS apk in original form. The Projects folder has the edited decompiled verison which should compile without errors. The Working edits apk is one I edited and is working but ad section is still there. The only edits I made in projects were to public.html to get rid of compile errors and the action bar in drawable to make it black.
To make things easier the ads are pulled into conversation_list_screen.xml and its the very bottom lines but every time I touch it it will FC on me because I dont know what im doing rofl. The ads are mixed in with the scroll bar. The @id/ad is pulling the ads and the smali has an adsize.smali.
"I don't see any ads"
Well in the ICS Messaging apk there is the same thing in the main messaging list which shows all of your conversations. Right above the compose & search buttons on the bottom bar there is a large rectangle which shows an ad. Note with a rom or adfree that remove ads it will just look like a huge white rectangle, it shouldn't be there. You can see the large white rectangle at the bottom of my screenshot. If it helps the ads section was removed in landscape mode and the edit should be in conversation_list_screen.xml in the res/layout folder.

I was able to get the bottom bar to be black and change the Messaging to ICS Messaging at the top to make sure the xml edits were taken but the ad section is still there. If anyone has any insight on how to get rid of the ad designated area please chime in.
Thanks!
Haven't gotten ads removed yet but this version at least gives you the bottom bar in black instead of the ugly white/grey gradient. This is the area where the compose/search buttons sit.
(flashable, replaced stock Mms.apk)
*NOTE* I did not create this app, I merely edited it some. The original application can be found here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mms.ics.ext&rdid=com.mms.ics.ext&rdot=1&pli=1

Works for me, been downloaded 29 times.
I'm using the modified download from above. And am not receiving text messages, but can indeed send them. Is this a personal problem?

Must be, I have no such issues. I didn't mod anything except action_bar_background xml file.
Try removing it and installing it from the market and see if the issue persists.
Or do this, leave your current messaging app in tact and install from the market.

Same issue, could send but not receive texts. Uninstalled and downloaded again from market and texts worked again.....
So I am currently using the app from market (white bar is not that big deal for me), however I'm getting notified twice for received messages. It did ask me the first time for what default messaging app do I want and I selected the ICS one. Still I'm getting double SMS notifications.
I know this is not a how-to forum or post, but I will really appreciate if someone can tell me how to use only the ICS messaging app and not the default Gingerbread one.
Can I just delete the GB one using TiBu and if so what's the name of the apk file? Should I modify something at the sddata folder?
Thanks

So there is a framework issue in bionix-v 1.3.1 that seems to screw up the alignment for the searh buttons in most apps that have the option. I traced the problem to 3 files.
I can't seem to get them to align.
textfield_search_pressed.9.png
textfield_search_selected.9.png
textfield_search_default.9.png
It is probably a simple padding edit in an xml file in the framework-res.apk, but I don't have the knowledge to fix it. I managed to trace the issue but that is as far as I can get. If anyone can point me to a fix or guide me through the process of aligning the search buttons, i will reward you a few bux through paypal.
This makes bionix-v look ugly ass hell when you are trying to search! Other than that the rom is amazing! Great battery life, great speed, overall great performance!

We would have to create a metamorph... but i dnt kno how to create one theres a thread that shows how to do it just google "how to create a metamorph" and click on the first link... im not at home right now so i dnt have time to look at all the videos... im egg hunting with the kids so u kno its gonna be a long day...
P.S. but anyways the framework is based on the oeiginal one that tKoHaXoR provided... so everything will remain the same the only thing that will change is the files that were changed...
FYI
this framework is already heavily modified,
darned daffy .9 images again! no good deed goes unpunished
Update
The problem is in the btn_search* and textfield_* images, when I replace them with the stock images the searchbox displays correctly.
Incidentally I had the same problem with my theme and never really noticed it until it was pointed out by this thread, I got my button and textfield images from a sense rom dump and they haven't been edited by me so it appears they were broken to begin with too.
Update:
was just playing with another bionix mod and noticed the problem was still there....
its ic_btn_search.png (the magnifing glass, microphone and arrow images for the right button) the one in bionix is just a 72x72 pixel copy of one of the other ic_buttons and it's too big. 38x45 is the original size and restores the search bar in bionix when its resized or replaced.
Bounty
f-ing narcissistic open source community!
Is the problem the buttons or the search bar/box? Looks to me like the search bar/box is lower than it should be. The bottom is cut off. I'm unclear as to which you all think is messed up.
it's actually the magnifying glass image in the button to the right of the text field that is causing the problems, because it's the wrong size it is somehow effecting the way the whole panel is drawn. When the magnifying glass image is replaced with the proper image the whole panel is drawn correctly.
I agree, & what about the Contacts Tab too - in Firefly Dialer, 2.2.1 & Ginger ROM's
I hope what you found helps. That has always driven me nut and I wondered why no one noticed or cared to fix it?
The other thing I still can't comprehend is why in the world can't the Contacts tab in DialerTabActivity.apk be consistent with the color schemes and BG (the Contacts button itself) of the Dialer, Call Log and Voicemail. No one uses that voice mail tab anyway, can someone please make it work like 2.3.3 but look like 2.2? Same colored bar and everything?
Can anyone answer these questions?
Update 11/7/2011
Reworked the contacts to look a little more black, small changes though. Also reworked the stock clock to be more a little more ICS.
Here is a theme I've been putting together for Serendipity 8.1 over the last few weeks based on ICS from the system dump.
The theme will work with S8, UnNamed and Cog X2 at this point in time.

I've modded the keyboard, most of the usual system apps like mms, contacts, phone etc and modded the stock lockscreen to have the same clock font as ICS... and more
The only problem is that I cannot for the life of me get the notification text color to change to white. So if you can fix then post up the files and I'll add it in.
I don't plan on porting it to other roms or updating it often as pharmacy school has been pretty cumbersome lately.

You flash at your own risk, if it breaks your phone it isn't my fault.
I highly recommend you back-up any files so you can revert if you please.

It should work, there isn't much difference between the two roms but I can't guarantee it.
Looks a lot more complete than what I was working on! One thing I did notice is that the signal icon seems to be a bit larger than the rest of the system icons and a tad bit blurry. The icons I was working with seemed to be a bit smaller to match the height of the other icons. I'll attach the SystemUI.apk I was using in case you wanted to compare those icons
Thanks for theme!
i think there's a new Serendipity version coming any day now, so i'll switch back and try it out then. i don't like the stock green on most of these. i don't get why Google doesn't include color choices.

for some reason, when I make the changes then change the extension from .zip back to .apk the app fails to install.
is there a solution for this? why does the installation fail when I change it back to .apk is there some other way I should put it back to .apk?
7zip
I would suggest trying 7zip as an alternate program for handling zip files. It can open/extract apk files without the of renaming it. Simply right click the file, &-zip-> open archive. Then you can drag and drop / replace image files. This prevent having to change the file extension to zip and back to apk.

I backed up then uninstalled by Titanium Backup, and used the installer without a hitch.
Running UnNamed 1.3.2 though, not sure if the newer versions may be the reason why its not working properly.

If I say yes now its just a placebo effect in my head.
Have to do some testing with it for a few days and see if its noticeably different or the same.

I've been using it for about two days now and with the exception of an beta-ish incident I had with it (it stopped working after my first reboot if the phone and I had to reinstall it), I can confidently say that this update makes Swype much, much better. Swype always used to piss me off within the day for the simplest of reasons, but with all the new gestures, dictionary options and (finally) contextual typing, it's hard to put this one down. And it should be mentioned that I'm a huge keyboard junkie, if that exists. I have pro versions for most of the keyboards on the market and constantly switch between them because they generally all disappoint me in one way or another.
The voice recognition is naturally better now that the company has been acquired by Nuance, but it isn't quite up to the accuracy of choice dictation on the iPhone 4s, for whatever reason. Is it better than what it used to be on Swype/Android? Hell yes. In addition, this can do languages other than English, something I found particularly amazing.
All in all, I like it.

I just did a proof of concept, just to see if it works... It's really simple actually!!!!
I did orange and blue (Denver Broncos colors) if you guys want it, just install it like normal.
Here is how to do it:
You take that .apk file thats in the OP, make a few copies of it just incase...
Then you get 7zip, open it up with 7zip... copy all the files in "assets/keyboard" to a new folder on your computer.
The files you need to edit are preceded by "display0_" since we have wvga screens.
The way I did it was open it up in photoshop (the images, that is) and edit the file and save it.
The files I editted were:
background
caps
capsbutton
funcbutton
numbutton
selbutton
textbutton
AFTER EDITTING!!
This is where it gets tricky...
You open that original .apk with the 7zip proggy and you transfer all those images back into it, in the proper folder.
Now you need to sign it using apkmanager or whatever you may want. Open it up in apkmanager, and sign it (using the batch signing folder thing option choice thing).
DONE!
Oops guess my message by xda app didn't go through.
The theme did work perfectly, good job!
Would It be too much to ask for a dark-themed swype like on ICScrewD or unNamed?
Then I can finally update swype

I second this!!
But I am going to try myself with the instructions of samvillian.
Just haven't had time, hopefully this weekend I can start practicing on theming.

I've got most of swype done. Issues im running into is apktool is unable to decompile or recompile a working product. Assume because of the updated version. Ill keep pressing.
I seem to run across problems in new themes quite a bit, and thought I'd start this thread to post all of them in one spot. Some of these may seem to be silly issues, but if I notice it, others will for sure. Hopefully we can get the themes fixed and replaced on the themer browser.
I wish there was a built in updater...
1. Hub UI - Inconsistent spacing around dash marks on main page.
First picture - As downloaded from Themer theme browser.

2. Hub UI - Social icon opens Health & Fitness Smart Category instead of Social Smart Category (Reported to the theme designer weeks ago)

good idea although there is a problems thread knocking around somewhere on here
Yeah, but hints and tips etc threads have nothing to do with reporting theme errors to the Themer development team.
Posted pictures and a video of the issues with Hub UI theme, looking for the other ones I had issues with, as I had to delete all of my downloaded themes again last night.

Hi,
We'll get these fixed as soon as possible, thanks for the help.
Here's another one for you. As you can see, in this seem the email can over rights the email icon when it hits 3 digits.
I have a problem with CleanMaster. Everytime I tried to clean the junks with CM, I found Themer icons to be missing afterwards. Redownload the themes do not work but I have to uninstall and redownload Themer instead. Note that I do not clean Themer's junks.
What is the problem there?
There's another thread about that. You need to uncheck Zooper widget for cleaning.

Thanks for the image, we'll pass it onto the team.
There's an issue with the calendar app "Cal" and Themer
When you assign Cal as the "Themer Calendar", every time you click on any module with "Themer Calendar" assigned it opens "add event" instead of just opening the Cal app. In addition, it leaves the Cal app 'stuck' and I have to force close Cal to get it back to normal.
Can someone look into this please?
thanks

Hi,
It does this with the stock calendar as well. I've just sent an email to the team so we'll see what happens. Hopefully they will be able to resolve the issue

Hi, please make sure that your DPI/resolution/display settings have been set to default. It might be caused if you rooted your device and some display settings changed. If this isn't the case, please contact [email protected] for more assistance.

Themer Team
