I own a Spice Mi-270 android 2.2 version phone.Searching the internet I found that by changing the ro.product.model and ro.product.manufacturer in the build.prop one can get Increase app compatibility.I tried changing model to Nexus One and manufacturer to HTC and also second time to GT-S5830 and Samsung rebooting the each time .The phone was rebooted and the model number showed in settings >> About phone.Even after visiting market though the phone and than through PC My device shows as "DOLPHIN Phone".
Please guide what other lines do I change?
Is it possible to increase wifi reception gain?
PSlease find the attached orig build.prop of Spice Mi-270(added the .txt extension for easy viewing)

That's the model number in the about phone screen? What about on the label under the battery?
EDIT: I see, after a quick google search, it is yet another variant. Most common in Japan, where you are. I was unable to find out what SoC/chipset this phone uses, so do NOT use just any Galaxy S2 root method randomly. Especially don't use any from this forum for the I9100. Chances are very good that will brick your phone. Sorry I don't have any better answers for you.

You could try zergRush. It reportedly doesn't work on 2.3.6 or higher, but you could try it.
Is that supported for Mac though?

I have had this phone for about a month. Just to say that I rooted it the day i got it.
I just used an old microSD card and rooted from this link. (The link to the .zp file is gone, but i found another way - see second link. Should also work fine)

Anyway, its great because I managed to get rid of a lot of AU bloatware. Now trying to figure out how to replace the horrible AU mail programs (SMS/MMS - they both suck so badly) with GO SMS PRO. No idea what the MMS settings for KDDI are though. SMS works fine through GO SMS PRO.
What I would ultimately like to do is to flash this with a better optimized rom. i feel there is so much potential for this phone, but AU (like most other carriers) has filled it with junk....
sooooo...if google translate is correct ( when is ever) I'm suppose to download the recovery.zip to sd card...install it...reboot...then install the root.zip from sd card and reboot and that should give me root for this phone?? any chance of me bricking it????

THis worked outstanding...except it wouldn't read the sd card when i tried the root.zip install....but all i did was used file manager...copied it to the internal sd...reboot into recovery and installed the root.zip....i shall make a new thread with this information from you....i know there are more of the SGS2 Wimax users....let the root madness begin...

I just bought a LENOVO S2005 in China, the phone came with Android 2.3.6 using it´s own app I upgrade it to 4.0.3 but there´s a problem: I can´t register any google account on it (there´s a place to put one ms exchange account, but no google) and there isn´t access to google market or google play :-(
Does anybody knows how to solve this?!?

I also have this phone which I bought in China. Love the phone and wish I could use it here in the US.
Mine has been updated to ICS which happened through a Lenovo download.
I was able to download from AndroidPit an app store ability. It is problematic but at least it gives me some functionality. I haven't been able to make google/play work nice with the device yet. I think it is something with the fight that happened with China and Google. Not sure.
If you don't mind, where are you located and if you are in the US, have you been able to get the phone unlocked.

I recently, by mistake bought a replica of Galaxy Nexus which run on a 1.2ghz Mediatek processor as per Antutu tester (it also show the manufacturer as Samsung and model name as Galaxy nexus ). Its a single SIM phone running 4.0.2 and also identifies SIM card and network but does not make calls ?
Is this a firmware issue or some setting issue? It also does not have Gapps installed in it? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I have unlocked rooted Moto G 2013 running Android Lollipop.
All required APKs for the Gear S are installed on device.
I have used Build Prop. Editor Tweaker to change the following characteristics:
RO.PRODUCT.MANUFACTURER : SAMSUNG
RO.PRODUCT.MODEL: GT-I9500
RO.PRODUCT.BRAND: SAMSUNG
Then I have connected Gear S to my Moto G via Bluetooth and paired. Then I searched in Gear Manager for the Gear S, but it ALWAYS says "NO DEVICE FOUND". I unpaired the smart-watch and tried searching again but still same problem.
I tried resetting the smart-watch then searching again but still no device found.
PLEASE ASSIST !!!

I bought an Android phone, it's specs are huge but I do not know it's model. I removed the battery to see the model name and number but it shows only DF808, and on the about phone settings, it shows simillar DF808.. I searched it on google and found noting.
So how do I root this phone? I tried the recovery mode, it has similarity with the Galaxy Y recovery mode, but update.zip for Galaxy Y wont work on my phone.. Is there any other way to root my anroid phone? THanks BTW
