[Q] CM9 FXP103 For xperia neo - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi everyone,
So I've tried to install the CM9 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445844
but i did not manage to get it to boot. I flashed from generic 4.0.2.A.0.62.
The steps that i took were,
1) boot phone into fastboot,
2) use fastboot 'fastboot boot boot.img' (boot.img from FXP103-update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-MT15i-KANG-signed_3.7z)
3) reboot into recovery
4) wipe cache, data and dalvik
5) flash update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-MT15i-KANG-signed.zip from CWM located in SD
then i get some random offset.
I reboot but i got bootloops from it. May i know what i did wrong?

[Q] Stuck in white HTC screen whilf flashing CM10

So whenever I try to flash CM10, I cannot get past the white HTC Screen. I have wiped the system, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, and then installed the CM10 zip and the Gapps zip. However, after rebooting, i just get stuck in the white HTC screen and I end up having to pull the battery and restoring my nandroid. I am using twrp. I am on S-ON, I think it has something to do with not having a PH98IMG.zip file? Is there one for CM10? Am I doing something wrong in my installation process?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Download the ROM on a computer and extract the boot.IMG to your platform tools directory (assuming you have SDK installed) then go into your command prompt and CD your way to platform tools and type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" do this after flashing the ROM. Then boot. Reboot to recovery then flash gapps (if you flash gapps and a ROM at the same the then it is very buggy)

Xperia Sola Can't Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery

Hello,
I am a complete noob when it comes to dealing with phones.
I have a Sony Xperia Sola (firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54 ICS)
I downloaded Rom Manager via Play Store and want to flash a custom rom.
But whenever I try to select the option "Reboot and Install", only a normal boot happens.
How do I reboot and install the rom?? I have tried the button combos (power+volume - and volume +) but nothing works.
Please help!
PS
I am
-rooted
-bootloader unlocked
-clockworkmod recovery via recoverX
-rom is [ROM] Unoficial JellyBean stockrom 6.2.A.0.400 Sola
I understand that the rom you mentioned is recently ported and also deleted from development section of sola (munjeni rom).
According to his instruction, you need to do following thing:
Enter fastboot mode (off phone then hold volume up and plug cable)
Flash boot.img in zip Rom file to phone (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
Turn on phone and enter recovery menu (on phone then spam the volume down)
Do the clear data, cache... then install the zip file (rom)
Done.
Why was the rom deleted from the development section? Any clue? It was such an useful rom (using it myself)
And no, the original instruction only said to flash the zip file. Not fastboot the kernel before that. Fastbooting is only necessary I you get boot loops on normal flashing

I finally got into recovery mode, but when trying to flash the JB rom, it says something about a (Status 7 error) Flash aborted. how did you successfully flash yours?
First, you flash the stock ICS rom of sola. It will create the compatible partitions for JB in sola.
Second, you enter recovery mode and wipe all data, cache.... (maybe flash boot.img is required to entering this mode)
Finally, you install the zip file (rom).
Good luck.

Maybe you should try to flash the boot.img in the zip file of munjeni before entering recovery mode and wipe all data, cache.

You flash in fastboot mode, or with recovery, but you must have unlocked bootloader, or it will brick your phone.

[Q] Xperia U CWM status 7 - installation aborted

Hello! I just rooted my xperia u today and now I'm trying to flash a custom ROM. The problem
is that I keep getting error/status 7 in cwm when trying to do this. I have searched around,
but can't find a solution. Any help appreciated!
Info:
Xperia U ST25i
Stock kernel
Stock ICS 4.0.4
CWM 5
Fixed it by following this:
1) Extract the contents you will get 3 things in it .... boot.img (file) , system(folder) , meta-inf (folder)
2) Leaving the boot.img out repack the other two folders (system,meta-inf)
3) fastboot the boot.img file via fastboot by this command "fast boot flash boot boot.img" without quotes
4) then place the new packed zip file
The one without the boot image
5) try flashing it
6) factory reset and wipe delvik cache and reboot
step 2?

What software are you trying to flash?

Have you flashed the kernel that's in the ROM zip?
And you can look at the log to see what exactly fails.

[Q] Sola bricked during flash of CM10: please help!

Hello
I was just trying to flash CM10 into my Sola
I unlocked the bootloader
I root it
Installed Recovery ROM
Made backup of current ROM
Wipe/Factory Reset
While flashing in Recovery Mode I got the error 7 message, so the instructions were to do the flash of the rom through flashtool
Flashed the rom through flashtool
After reboot, it's stucked on the initial "FreeXperia" image and it freezes there
I can enter in fastboot and flashmode, but I tried to flash again the "MT27_6.1.1.B.1.54_KERNEL.ftf" firmware, but the only thing that changes is the "FreeXperia" colorful image to the standard "Sony" logo.
What can I do?! How come it doesn't boot?!
Please help.
Do following:
- Shut down your phone
- connect it to your computer in fastboot mode (with volume up hold)
- flash the boot.img which is inside the ROMs .zip
- Do your steps again (enter recovery, wipe etc)
I've flashed the boot.img of CM10 before.
Well, the problem is that I cannot enter recovery mode!
Only fastboot and flashmode

Yup that's it, but first flash boot.img from the rom with fastboot.
Don't expect the phone to boot because this kernel is not comoatible with stock ROM go strait to recovery, do whatever is needed (factiry rest, clear dalvik and cache etc) as instructed in it's thread, and fash the zip

Well, I still get the (Status 7) error. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
My only doubt is if I'm using the correct recovery. How can I know that?
My current recovery is CWM Touch v5.5.0.4 (modified CWM by Munjeni)
Honestly, I'm getting do reallly tired of this.
For 2 days I've been trying to install this ROM and I always get stuck with the /(&)(#$ "status 7" error.
Here is what I do step by step, so someone can point me in the right directions because, quite frankly, I just wan to throw this phone over the window right now...
1. After I get the "status 7" error I restore my rom backup, which brings me to stock ICS with unlocked bootloader and with root
2. I reboot in fastboot mode and, with Flashtool, I flash the boot.img I extracted from the "cm-10-20140113-UNOFFICIAL-pepper.zip"
3. I enter in recovery mode and wipe all the data/cache/delvik cache etc (I've also tried to do this BEFORE flashing the boot.img)
4. Still in recovery, I choose "Install zip from sdcard" and select the "cm-10-20140113-UNOFFICIAL-pepper.zip" (I've also tried to select this file without the boot.img file)
5. I get the status 7 error!!!!!!
Please help, as it is driving me nuts!
Redownload the ROM and try again. I'll give you a step by step instruction now:
- redownload the ROM and push it to your phones storage
- shut down your phone and connect it via fastboot to your computer
- Open the flashtool and flash the boot.img from the rom.zip via fastboot.
- after flashing, disconnect your phone from your computer, then wait some seconds
- Now power on your phone and enter recovery
- now you make a full wipe (wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache (advanced), format /system (mounts and storage)
- After the full wipe, try to flash the redownloaded ROM again
What exectly the status 7 is for, look at the log.
It fails right in the first assert line of code. I've also tried to remove the assert line, as suggested somewhere on the forum, but then I get a "Status 6" error. I'll try to re-download the zip file when I get home...

the assert n ro.product.device and ro.build.product? This should not happen with the recovery that comes with the ROM.
Well, that may explain it, as I'm not sure I'm using the correct recovery rom, as I didn't knew there was a recovery on this rom.
The instructions in the thread are:
Make a backup of your current rom
Wipe data/factory reset in recovery
Flash CM10 (If you get error 7 while flashing exctract the boot.img from the rom zip, and flash it via fastboot)
Flash Ultra Slim Gapps
Reboot & Enjoy!
So, I had to find a recovery ROM and that is what I did. So maybe that's the problem: I'm not using the correct recovery rom.
What can I do now to change it?

What recovery ROM, you only need to install thr boot.img from the ROM file.
What ROM are you trying to install(link)?
As stated in this thread, I'm trying to install CM10 (cm-10-20140113-UNOFFICIAL-pepper.zip).
My recovery rom is CWM Touch v5.5.0.4 (modified CWM by Munjeni)

Your recovery is probably missing those props and yould fail every time, you must use the recovery of the ROM.by flashint boot.img.
And I have asked a link for the ROM you dounload just to make sure it's props are OK, so I need a link.
If it don't let you post a link try to qrap it with code tags (the # button in thepost editor)

Wiped tablet, tried to install CM. Failed because wifi tablet thinks it is castor.

I wiped my device and now can't install CM because it thinks it is castor and not castor_windy. It is a wifi z2 tablet.
I used tool from this thread to gain root. After I used root checker basic to check I was rooted and it said I was.

I used tool from this thread to install custom recovery, I believe successfully. I was able to reboot into recovery afterwards.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxoU7oR5AJUeVnE4LXpEd0t6c0k/edit?usp=sharing
It eventually formatted all three.
I then tried to install CM, PA gapps, and recovery (as suggested in the recovery thread to make sure keep recovery after reboot). This happened.

I didn't make a backup in advance because I am an idiot. I do have TA backed up.
What did I do wrong and how can I fix it please?
If I understand you correctly, you have tried too flash CM without unlocking your bootloader first.
As far as I know, this is not possible: Due to the locked bootloader, the CM Kernel cannot be installed and hence CM won't work anyways.
With locked bootloader, you can only flash stock-based ROMs which share the Kernel with the original ROM.
You can use flastool to flash a TFT (stock firmware), then your tablet should work again.
For flashing a real CM which requires an unlocked bootloader see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708194

Thank you. You are exactly correct, I didn't unlock the bootloader first.
Would this flashtool work given I am currently in twrp and have no OS? If it would it is showing the links for the ROM for SGP511 and this is 512. Is it the same or do I need a different link for the ROM?

IRRC you need to use fastboot to unlock the device. Afterwards, you can install Cm. If you are lucky you don't need to flash a stock ROM first.

Not at all :good:
By long-pressing the power button (10 seconds or so) the tablet shuts down
Do the following:
- Get your Sony unlock key
- Install the Android SDK (Software Developers Kit) on your PC
- Install all necessary Xperia drivers (Google is your friend, don't remember where I got mine from)
Using fastboot:
- Connect your tablet to the PC while simultaneously pressing 'Volume up'. When the LED is blue you are in fastboot mode
- Unlock your tablet like described by Sony
- Install CWM from fastboot mode
- Reboot
- Enter recovery (press 'Volume up' when the LED is pink)
Copy files to tablet:
- Use the adb command line tool from Android SDK (in the same folder as fastboot)
Copy CM11 and GAPPs to tablet:
via Windows CMD: adb push filename.zip /sdcard/ROMs/filename.zip
- Flash CM11/ GAPPS via recovery
Done!

Using fastboot:
- Connect your tablet to the PC while simultaneously pressing 'Volume up'. When the LED is blue you are in fastboot mode
- Unlock your tablet like described by Sony

Have restored device to stock, then rooted and installed custom recovery (as in original post).
Can't get into fastboot mode. Trying as stated above fails. Screen stays off with blue LED. Same thing happens if I reboot into bootloader via flashify or recovery. fastboot devices then does not detect device. It does for my phone so think that means fastboot works.
I must have missed something (again). Thank you for your patience.
Edit: bootloader now unlocked with flashtool.
Edit 2: Used flashtool to fastboot flash boot.img from M9 snapshot (was this my mistake, not CM10?). Now can only get into fastboot, can't get into recovery. Without recovery I require an img file of the rom, is that correct?

I don't understand why you guys are so generous with your time and energy and write at length to help people who are too lazy and too careless to read properly and thus f*** up their devices...

I made a mistake, possibly multiple mistakes. I will continue to make mistakes. This forum is for people like me who don't know what they are doing to ask for help. No one has to offer that help. I am greatly appreciative when they do.

When the screen stays off with blue LED, you ARE in fastboot mode!
In case fastboot does not work, you haven't installed the according drivers on your PC.

You must have done something wrong - I had no problems whatsoever.
Just try it again:
- Flash CWM as described
- Factory reset, format system, format data, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik cache (format data/media only if the internal SD-card should be wiped, too!)
- Flash the boot.img from the CM11 ZIP-file
- Enter CWM and use the adb push-command to flash CM11/GAPPs
- Install CM11 and GAPPs via recovery
Good luck :good:

Did you ever manage to install cm11?
I have the same error, device thinks is Castor when its a sgp512. I tried both and soft bricked it, got out, rooted it again and still have the same error. I did unlock the bootloader, i am rooted, I know how to go into fastboot, flashmode, cwm, twrp, etc. But CM11 does not work!
Very frustrating.
Any ideas?
anyone?
Edit: Problem was that I wasnt flashing the kernel first as stated here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_castor_windy
Are you saying you missed this one
fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img

I finally found some time to do this. Flashed boot.img using fastboot (didn't work using flashtool which I think was the most recent problem), flashed m9 in recovery, downloaded and adb pushed then flashed pa zero day GAPPS in recovery, and all is right with the world.
@BabelHuber how might I buy you a beer or coffee to thank you properly?
