I was wondering if there is an android app that will allow me to remotely log into my PC and control it, much like we do with technical support from one pc to another when people are just inadequate at following directions verbally. Sometimes I forget to put things in my dropbox ect and would make things alot easier if we could do that from our tabs.
Thanks in advance

I have used Splashtop Desktop remote desktop and it works reasonably well.
EDIT: Splashtop HD is actually included free with the TF Prime, it is inside of "My Cloud" app which is why I missed it before (thanks fuzzer!)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.splashtop.remote.pad
You can't really use applications like Adobe Photoshop through it, and it is difficult to interact with Windows 7 on such a small screen, but it works pretty well for accessing documents and files that are on your PC.
What kind of activities are you looking to do via remote desktop?
2x Client
https://market.android.com/details?...lt#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS50dXguY2xpZW50Il0.
Its free and works really well. I personally prefer Remote Desktop because I use it to remote into servers at work but it is kinda of pricey (but in my opinion totally worth it)
https://market.android.com/details?...mNvbS54dHJhbG9naWMuYW5kcm9pZC5yZHBjbGllbnQiXQ..
Edit: Both of these work with the built in Windows Remote Desktop that comes with Win 7 Pro and higher (and Win Server)
teamviewer FTW

team viewer is good & free, the user can d/l & run it without installing....
most others require a "server" install..

Right Now Splashtop HD is on sale for $6.99 in the Android Market. It is $9.99 in the Amazon Market.
EDIT: Splashtop HD is also included free with your TF Prime, it is in the My Cloud app, under the name My Desktop.

Yup I was actually trying to edit my post to reflect yours but it gave me an error.
Splashtop HD is included with the Transformer Prime, however it is hidden by the name "My Desktop" until you actually launch the app.
Considering the included version of Splashtop has been tweaked a bit for the Transformer Prime you would think that they would make it work more seamlessly with the keyboard dock.

Not to hijack the thread, but I haven't had any major issues with the TF Prime. The only issue that kinda bugs me is how far apart touchscreen events are detected as this makes it harder to draw and write onto the tablet. Apparently there is a software setting that can alter this but that kind of tweak is beyond me at the moment.
In general I think that Android 4.0 is a work in progress. While it is a massive improvement over both 2.3.x and 3.2, I have found myself running into rough areas where the OS doesn't behave in a consistent manner with its own rules. For instance the lack of Apps2Sd support or the fact that the Battery History doesn't deliver detailed usage. Maybe 4.1 will be better

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't find Splashtop HD on my Prime.
I have Splashtop, but not Splashtop HD. Is there a difference? I see they seem to be separate programs on the Market.

Anybody know of a good resource to find tablet optimized apps? I really want a good research paper/citation manager like Papers on the iPad. Good news readers? Other apps which really harness the ability of the tablet?
On another note, I hope that Tapatalk updates their app to take advantage of tablet screen realestate.
For news reader, pulse and news360 are the best. I like pulse better personally. Haven't tried Google currents in the tab, but I hear that is good as well

Yeah currents is like the android version of flip board I have on my iPad. I wish the marketplace was more like apple app store where you can view all tablets apps only. in android you have to sift through everything and hopefully find tablet app or a universal one. This is where my iPad beats out the prime. way more tablet only apps for apple. I hope android picks up the pace with these tablet apps.

Ya I run Tablified and the app, though I didn't actually code it myself.
I agree that the market should have a tablet section but as Rubin said, it wont happen. Therefore Tablified will be around as long as its helpful to people. If Google does their own thing, and does it better (which I know they can) I'll gladly close shop.

Got my Prime a few days ago (my first Android Tablet) and was also on a research of apps.
My Favorites are at the moment:
News Republic for Tablet - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mobilesrepublic.appytablet
Google Currents
JotterPad HD - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.twondcc.jotterpadHDFree (there's also a pro version)
Especially JotterPad HD is such a beauty of app. A lovely designed text editor with some great features - especially for us Transformer Users. It supports common keyboard shortcuts for copy & paste as well as undo and redo. There also a timeline included for up to 10 verions of each document and also an export function into .txt and pdf files. Even font style can be changed.
But well, just take a look at his website or try it out http://2ndclasscitizen.com/2ndcc/
It's such a beauty using most of those new Android design features like fragments and so on. Hope we'll see more apps like this in the future.
I suspect Google is embarrassed by their tablet app selection and that is why they don't have a tablet optimized section with the exception of a few staff picks.

Not really into games, more into media consumption. Netflix, crackle, google music, kindle, and rhapsody are pretty much the only media apps that take advantage of the tablet form factor. It doesn't even compare to the iPad. Flash is nice to have on a tablet though, so they make up for each other.
At this point, I am considering returning for an iPad 3. The qc issues are scaring me away a little. If the screen starts falling off, Asus will require me to ship at my own expense and wait 2-3 Weeks, whereas with an iPad the apple store will swap it out usually that day. The iPad 3 doesn't have a release date though and they may end up pulling an iPad 2s.

The HBO GO app doesn't work for me. Doesn't even let it install.
Huh. Won't install on either my Prime or my original Transformer. Never tried it before because Time Warner Cable still isn't supported. I'll have to look into this a little more, because I think that's going to change in early January...
Latest update seems to work on my friend's nook tablet...wonder why it wouldn't on the Prime. I'll have to play around with it once my prime replacement comes in next week.
How are you guys installing it? Market, web, side load apk?

Haha trust me, I've been wondering he same thing over the last two days when I picked up an iPad 2. Downloaded the xfinity app to program the DVR and noticed you could stream.went to my OG TF to see if there was an update, but it was a bust. Disappointing .
Noticed a big difference watching HBO go in Dolphin vs stock browser. I did make the debug changes in the browser, and that seems to mess with video performance. Watching with dolphin is very smooth, but you need to be close to the router. At about 30 feet away the signal is not strong enough to support the video streaming and it starts to significantly downgrade the streaming resolution.

I don't think HBO Go is compatible with either Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich at this point.

Not sure if LogMeIn works, but consider Splashtop HD. It is AMAZING on the Prime, especially with the dock, and I was watching damn near real-time video on it. There's a video from CES of them playing Skyrim through the Prime, though it was using a newer version coming out, called Splashtop THD. Right now HD is ten bucks, but if you can, wait for the THD to hit the market. I would gladly purchase this again!
For local WiFi remoteing I use SplashTop (HD version bundled with Prime MyCloud app). You can also get the phone version which lets you zoom in/out with pinch gestures off of GetJar for free (it's legit).
For control from a remote location/low bandwidth connection I use phoneMyPC.
Only feature I wish SplashTop had is that it can only switch between two monitors (I have three). phoneMyPc has no problem switching between my three monitors.
IMO Splashtop is way better and smoother then logmein.
Leaps and bounds better.
My transformer came with splashtop pre installed...I had already purchased logmein for my phone a while a go, but now I use splashtop on all my devices.
Don't have the tablet yet, but how about TeamViewer? It's also free.

Can I access Splashtop if im not on the same network?
I just tried Splashtop and cant believe you have to be on the same local network; seems absolutely pointless
I used LogMeIn before I got the Prime. Spashtop is far superior.
Dual monitors are supposedly accessible by using three finger tap to bring up the control panel and switch from there.
Internet discovery is also supposedly available by having both local and remote machines logged in to gmail. I have not tried this yet. I was mostly using it to operate my desk machine from another part of the building.
Check the help section on their website before you throw in the towel. Having used LogMeIn, Splashtop is much faster, smoother and easier to navigate with the tablet.
Hope this helps.

also note that win8 on the prime would have to be ARM, your x86 apps like microsoft office or your PC games wont run on the ARM processors. There are, however, some very good android editors, might be worth checking out your bound to find something that has the features you want.

Well, if Microsoft is bringing Win8 to ARM, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't bring Microsoft Office :/ That's why I was wondering if the the Prime would ever get Win8.
If you will be using Excel, ppt, and Word heavily, I don't think you would be satisfied working on the 10 inch screen. Also,a bit of an aside, if working in front of a computer on papers etc it is more comfortable to have decent ergonomics, which means getting a bluetooth keyboard and placing the screen at eye level.

I think it's pretty damn good. If you're talking about doing papers or normal typing it's excellent. However, if you're going to be doing a computer specific class, like a Microsoft one, you're obviously going to need a netbook for the full suite. Or you could just go to the library, etc. It's up to you. If that's the only device you can afford (either laptop or tablet) get a laptop. Don't get a netbook though. BestBuy, Amazon, woot.com , and 1saleaday.com frequently have excellent sales on laptops. Check there.

Best office app i've seen is the Softmaker Textmaker mobile beta.
It has almost everything MS office has. Also adanced features like syllabification/correction test. Also it has full keyboard support with copy/paste and selecting text is really easy. The only thing missing is thesaurus but there are enough synonym apps to replace even that.
The best thing: Its still free at the moment as its in final beta status.

I dont think the keyboard is anywhere near the quality of the prime^^ I'd rather buy a Transformer style pad from Asus with win8 instead of MS surface...
TFP is currently the best Tablet keyboard combo that I can sit on the plane with the thing on my lap and type..
that alone will make me stick to the prime, for now.. The office apps for Android about the same for me.. if you really need to work on big spreadsheets nothing really compares to a 20+ inch screen and a proper keyboard.
Or you could just use the "cloud on" app as that is office!

The last email i got said something like "final beta version" so i guess its rather sooner than later
My download for the free beta version ends the 2nd week in July.
Kingsoft Office. Free. All basics are here for ppt(x), xls(x), doc(x).
I have tried all the office style apps that are available so far on android as I was hoping to have a replacement for office when I am traveling. Polaris office is one of the best but I have had some issues saving with my external SD card and kept losing my work.
I have started using softmaker office and other than not being as smooth for two finger zooming, the features are well above anything else available at the moment.
It is now in 5th beta so imagine it will come out pretty soon. I just wish there was an email system that could handle pstx files and I would be complete
Office apps for prime
I can highly recommend Cloud on. I tried various options, and cloud on is by far the slickest - I also agree that using spreadsheets on anything less than a 20 inch screen is a nightmare.
