[Q] is there a way to downgrade to HC from ICS yet? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Asus keeps pushing me to upgrade to Ics and from what I understand, I can only delay this update three times before I forces me to do it? I haven't had any crashes on HC but still nervous about going to ICS since this is my second prime (first one had rebooting issues).
Any way to downgrade to 3.2 yet just in case?

I don't think so, especially not if you load the current 9.4.2.11 version as you cannot even root with that one. I don't think a downgrade is going to be possible until we get an unlocked bootloader. I highly recommend you root and use OTA Rootkeeper if you decide to take the plunge. I was nervous to upgrade too. I think if you disable (or freeze with titanium backup which requires root) all the ASUS apps you would not get rebooting. At least it seems to have fixed the issue for a lot of people. Just don't delete them...
If you really are that worried I would wait until the next patch comes out that is supposed to address the remaining reboot issues before you update. You aren't missing much.

Why not just go to ICS. The update went VERY smooth for myself and it seems to be snappier, with better browser performance. The ICS issues effect a minority.
Cheers!

Answer: No (as of 1/19/12 4:00PST)
I've searched high and low (xda forums and elsewhere) There appears to be no downgrade methods publicly available to date. If you have yet to run the initial OTA update, you should root (viperMod/ TSSparky), use Voodoo OTA rootkeeper, and then accept the Asus OTA update.

[Q] Thunderbolt stock gingerbread

Quick question(s).
1) What steps do I take to throw my phone to completely stock (Im running bamf 1.6.3) in order to receive the OTA properly?
2) Any new news on when gingerbread is coming out for the tbolt?
I do have a nand of stock root on my phone, so after I restore that (if thats what i should do) how to i remove root so i can get gingerbread OTA correctly?
As for the reason I'm wanting to do this is because I want to try out the stock gingerbread and I don't like to upgrade android without an OTA, once I get sick of it I will be re-rooting it.

Ota won't roll out for a couple weeks. There's a thread to get you back to security on. I think it's in general.
I'm not really sure what is to be gained by un-rooting, doing the ota update, then rooting again. Other than DRM stuff while you are not rooted (google vids, blockbuster, etc).
I'm sure the stock GB ROM with root will be available here before the OTA upgrades start, certainly no later.
Of course it's your preference, I'm just curious.

1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009423 will get you back to where you're looking to go.
2) ETA on the OTA is all rumor and speculation but the latest rumor and speculation is end of June. I think someone has concrete info from Verizon that said sometime in 2nd qtr but that's a pretty broad spectrum.
*Usually the OTA leaks before it's actually pushed out by Verizon and we get to play with it for awhile before the rest of the world sees it (it shows up in development.) The MR1 is a good example of that...it was a carbon copy of the leak (and the nand root that you have.) I know it's completely your decision but you'll probably be able to run the OTA for awhile before it actually gets pushed out by Verizon if you stay rooted. You just have to wait for the devs to say it's ready to go for rooted phones (which is usually right after th leak hits the light of day.)

stock upcoming upgrade

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this bad boy.
Now I know the gingerbread + bootloader unlockable upgrade is just around the corner.
If I root now, will that nerf the ability to go OTA?
I just want to stick to stock/OTA until the upcoming upgrade as a baseline, then I'm home free lol
I'm not a rookie at flashing/custom ROM (cyanogen on N1, overcome on SG tab) but I am a bit cautious/lazy, would seem like a safe option to start with gingerbread and stock unlockable bootloader as starting point.
TBH I've only ever dealt with stock unlockable bootloaders.
If you just root, I think you should still be able to receive the update.
If, however, you root AND mod... then no. Even removing bloatware may shoot your chance (try freezing instead, so you can restore).
The reason is that hte Moto update will check certain system files (not sure which) before update - after reboot, just before installing the update . If it finds anything amiss with what it is checking, it will cancel the update.
So if yuo have waited that long for rooting, might as well wait a bit longer. In any case, if the past is any indicatino, the 2.3.3 (or 2.3.4) update may remove root and/or plug the security holes that allow root.
yep my thoughts exactly. I'll probably hold off entirely and live with the nerfing so I can get a nice clean OTA gingerbread base

[Q] Update for XT910

Edit: Stupid me. Somehow didn't see the existing threads for the updates. I do have a few questions though.
1) In order to keep root, I have to use voodoo OTA rootkeeper? But is the root stable for the update?
2) Do I have to remove all traces of rooting before I apply the update? I.e. unrooting and doing a factory reset on the phone to reset system configurations.
3) Is the update worth it? Or if it just does what is described in https://rsddownload.motorola.com/download/Motorola_RAZR_Software_Update-IRD.pdf, it seems kinda useless. Unless there's an increase in speed and stability, or something that makes it worth doing.
Any help would be much appreciated!
:/ well its up to you, but as for keeping root and it being stable after the update and being restored by ota root keeper its stable . its up to you though. i do feel some improvement in the camera quality
I think that as long as you didnt remove bloatware, you should be fine.
I don't know about keeping root, but I saw people rerooting with no problems.
Personally, I haven't updated, but I'll do it as soon as i get home as I'm currently on a satellite link which is too slow to get the update
I saw some of the source code for webtop 2.0 was released on sourceforge around the beginning of january, maybe that's something that will be included?
Again, only speculation, I'll let you know when I tried.

OTA with Rooted Phones

Do we know yet what will happen as far as OTA updates on rooted phones?
Will OTA not even be offered to rooted phones? Will the OTA complete and then phone won't be rooted? Will OTA complete and then phone will still be rooted?
Will OTA Rootkeeper work?
Coming from a Droid X, I know that OTA wouldn't go unless your phone was nearly 100% stock.
Not sure how things working over at Samsung.
I hopefully will finally have my phone next week. With the consideration that I'd like to restore apps and appdata via Titanium, I'm wondering what the best way to proceed would be. Root phone immediately, restore with Titanium, then get the OTA (if it will even run on a rooted phone?)? If I lose root for a short time after that, I could live since I've already restored my data. I'd really like to keep things as close to stock as possible, with the exception of obtaining root.

[Q] What is in the update and is it (root) safe?

I am happy that my Prime kept root after the update to JB (4.1.1) but still had a few minor issues like incompatible cifs libraries (resolved thanks to this great formum).
But now I am getting again a notice that a firmware update is downloading. It stopped due to low battery and I killed the DMClient service said to be responsible for the updates. But I guess I won't be able to postpone the update indefinitely.
So my question is: Are there any infos/experiences about this new update? I couldn't find an announcement. Which version can it be (the message just says there is an update, no version number)? I thought 4.1.1 is up to date, but obviously it isn't!?
Is it safe to freeze DMClient? Gemini App manager gave a warning that some ROMs had issues, preventing an unfreeze -- and I don't want to be without updates for good -- just until I know what I have to expect, and then decide.
If someone already allowed the update: is it still rooted? (I have RootKeeper installed, is this enough?)
Any other issues with it?
